My MSF course had a cop looking to be a motorcycle cop, a chick who made it through two sections before panicking and quitting, anf an old dude with a bum hip who dropped his bike a few times.

One of my buddies offed himself, so the night before my MSF course my friends and I went out to the lake and got p drunk, had a bon fire and got visted by the police.

I waited hours trying to sober up, then I drove an hour home at 3 AM, then 3 more hours to where my MSF course was held.

It was the middle of August, the course was held at a small airfield, and I was hung over as fuck. The first day was miserable.

Blogpost complete.

so I'm the guy looking to buy the cb500f from a dealer.

CB500f because it fits my use case and I like how it looks the most from bikes in my price range, and it's cheap and since it's been sitting in the dealer's room for 2 years I'm hoping I can get a good deal on it.

That's why I'm asking if my offer is going to be reasonable.

I went ahead and installed a projector HID into my naked, spent most of the time trying to figure out a place for the wiring (CCFL-inverter, HID-ballast, relay harness). I think it looks breddy good but fair warning to anyone wanting to do this with those standard halogen housings (iirc 200wide160deep); don't, unless you have tools, materials and too much time, it's way too much work to make it nice and fit.

I feel like an idiot. I took the shitty stock Honda grip guards off today as I am ordering barkbusters and the one is barely hanging on since the first drop. I also wanted to see if I could bend the brake lever a tad (I know it wasn't a good idea) the fucking bolt that holds the lever in is a joke. It snapped while coming out.

So now I need to find a Honda OEM bolt and a new brake lever. I'd love to get foldable brake and clutch lever but I can't find any stateside to save my life. They are all in euroland. I'm wondering if foldable levers are not DOT approved or something.

Fuck me and trying to get Honda OEM parts outside of buying some questionable shit off of eBay.

I'll head into the garage in a few. I am sure it is. Thing looks pretty standard.

Anyone running barkbusters? Looking at the pictures it looks like the mounting point has nothing to do with the brake and clutch like the stock guards were affixed to a plastic bracket. It's really a stupid fucking design and I am disappointed with Honda on that one. All show, no substance.

I need to get a bolt for the clutch side as well as it is the same shitty bolt as the brake side and it has an exposed portion top and bottom to fit the Honda plastic bracket which I won't have anymore with the barkbusters.

Thanks. Better than a '66 mustang, but that's not saying much, is it? Went for a night ride and certainly much better visual clarity than with the standard halogens (sorry no comparison photo of before/after). High beam is controlled with a solenoid in the projector, works well and gives instant lighting.

>>17199674
Not really in practice, I could notice some reflections on the garage wall as I test-fitted the glass lens of the housing, but nothing serious that would disrupt the cutoff.

I just bought a 60€ kit off ebay, some chinese manufactured kit, but has better ballast than what I've seen come from china.

They make smaller versions of these with no halos, which might be a better fit for nakeds.

>disassemble housing as much as possible
>separate adhesive from glass lens and sheet metal housing with a hot-air gun and cardboard box
>cut out the sheet metal housing to fit the diameter of the rear of the projector housing
>clean and paint old faded sheet metal reflector housing semi-matte black
>drill 20mm hole into rear of the plastic housing for the projector rear mounting bolt and wires
>run wiring ready, mount ballast under the tank onto the frame with VHB
>mount CCFL inverter into spare horn mounting plate under the headlight (that's gonna break when the first rain falls...)
>run ccfl+solenoid wires of the projector through the parking lamp hole in the metal housing
>drill hole for aforementioned wires into bottom of plastic housing
>rearrange wiring to make space for rear of projector
>install projector, test out everything and level the beam cutoff
>bolt everything down
>apply black car body sealant as adhesive for the glass of the housing
>with soapy fingers, form the sealant and apply glass housing, making sure contact areas are clean
>press metal sides closer to glass edge
>form and remove excess sealant with soapy finger
>apply tape to make sure glass won't move

I know nothing about engines but I like to speculate so hear me out. My bike has less compression in one cylinder (not sure by how much but it's fairly significant). There's also a "sound" that's not supposed to be there, that's what the mechanic told me personally I can't identify it. Could the low compression be caused by a broken piston ring and the sound caused by the piece rattling inside the engine?

>white guy, HS sophomore who wanted to ride to school or something
>mexican girl, 20s, asked for and received a CBR500 from her boyfriend for valentine's (first she wanted a sporty manual car, but he pointed out she already had a car)

the asian girl was the only one who'd never driven stick; she dropped the clutch while standing and almost launched the bike into a fence. think it scared her pretty bad, she didn't come back the second day.

the sophomore guy dropped his bike a couple of times in the figure 8, only time anyone went down. Nailed it eventually.

I tied with the asian man for highest score overall, feels good.

trucker girl did well, also she braided everyone's long hair to keep it out of the way, pic related (need to learn that asap)

mexican girl was my partner for pair stuff and gave me rides between the classroom and the range and for lunch etc, so i talked to her most. she was pretty baller, immigrated at like 16 by herself, had some cool stories. She was tiny though and not very confident, usually went too slow. Juuuust failed, prob because of that. They said they'd let her retake, no cost. She was crying... trucker girl and i gave her hugs. All exchanged numbers to meet up and ride when we got bikes.

Won't be sufficient power for a rider like yourself, I suggest a turbo, run it on Ethanol and get some cruiser tyres.

All in all, it wouldn't actually be too bad of a learners bike, but if I were you, I'd look for something newer, second hand, and smaller.

Good amount of power for a learner is between 30-60hp

Speed, yeah. How about brakes? The only thing that comes close to breaking as well as a car is a sportbike with ABS. I think the GSXR600 is the current best, and then if you want to get close avoid anything under 650cc.

Does your tiny rotor shitbike of choice even have ABS?

Unless you have drum brakes or a full blown 3rd world shitbike braking power is never an issue. Big sport bike brakes are good because they dissipate heat better and don't go off when doing repeated heavy braking (eg. on the track), they're more responsive, and require less effort so it's easier to brake hard and make other inputs simultaneously.

350EXC will be much easier to manage in trails. Having excessive power can be pretty fun but also wear you out a lot quicker off-road. Chances are you'll be surprised how quick even the 350 is.

Also those bikes are bred from race bikes and are relatively maintenance intensive and made almost completely for off-road use. If you want a more chill bike that will not be as expensive to maintain you might want to consider a DR or XR.
>>
Started riding my R6 more lately and I've noticed the shifting feels kinda 'crunchy'.

When shifting up it actually shifts much smoother when I leave some preload on the clutch and dont pull it in more than a half inch or so.

Pulling it in all the way results in crunchy, non-smooth shifting.

Been sitting for a while and has about 2000 miles since last oil change, hopefully the oil change will smooth it out.

>>
>>17200344
Seriously. These are motorcycles not 1970's Ferrari's. Just put the appropriate weight 4 stroke oil in the bike at the appropriate intervals and the motor will outlast the rest of the motorcycle.

oilcucks are the worst when they try to justify their wasted money.
>>
>>17200322

>>
>>17200330
Why do you think your meme oil is better than mine? Rotella T6 is JASO MA certified. It's a synthetic oil, it has the same anti dispersant properties as your oil, only your shit costs more.

I'll show you my oil analysis of 6k miles worth of Rotella and there will probably be nothing wrong with my bike.
>>
>>17200353
I run the required octane and oil grades. I do not waste money exceeding the specified rating because the benefits are marginal at best (for oil) and nonexistent for gas.
>>
>>17200353
Why put high octane into engine that doesn't have high compression rate?
>>
>>17200325
Also look into the WR250R for something more modern.
>>
>>17200353
Putting higher octane fuel into a bike that doesn't need it is a waste of money
Putting super expensive oil into a bike for no reason is also a waste of money.

If you're putting higher octane fuel than necessary into your bike you are pretty much admitting the bike has shit tuning and knock protection. In which case stop buying shit bikes.

Likewise if you are putting super expensive oils into your bike beyond what the manufacturer recommends you are admitting you dont trust the quality of design and manufacture of your make of bike. In which cast stop buying shit bikes.

On one hand that makes me kind of glad I didn't get one, on the other hand I would probably be dragging pegs and feeling like a badass if I had.

Maybe its because they look like dirt bikes so people expect them to ride like dirtbikes offroad.

A DRZ400, DR650, XR650L, KLR650, etc. will not pull the front end up by just blipping the throttle either.

The powerbands of those two bikes is vastly different. All the WRR's kick is up top. You probably weren't riding it right.

Nobodies been wrong. Just because Suzuki finally made a spoke wheel version of the DL1000 doesnt make all the cast wheel DL1000's adventure bikes.

Starting this year there is an "adventure" trim for the DL1000. The fact that this trim suddenly came out doesnt make all DL1000's ever made adventure bikes now. retard.

Then it's not an ADV bike. Cast small wheels are not meant for off-road.
>>
>>17200846

Since they are supposed to be offroad capable bikes and cast wheels are shit for off road and likely to crack/bend with any significant hits.

And 17" is a road wheel size. 17" wheels are piss poor for offroad riding and have a poor off road tire selection.

Hornet 250 only revs to like 15 grand. It's fucking hilarious having a small standard that sounds like a supersport but revving like an F1 car is reserved for 4 stroke mini-supersports trying to keep up with 2 stroke GP bikes for the street. (not all that successfully once the latter is derestricted)

The reality is it would be cheaper to build a 400cc parallel twin and a slightly fancy chassis for the weight target you'd be aiming at on a street bike meant to travel on highways anyways.

>>

Die of old age, yes. So you become 80 or 90.
You know most people see that as a compliment.
>>
>>17201061
Doesn't work if you ate pork.
Also, those virgins died before they fucked, as far as i know you don't age in heaven. So either they are ugly as fuck or way too young.
>>
>>17201065
Wishing death on anyone in any way isn't a compliment

>>17201069
>way too young
You know where you're at friend?
>>
>Japan
>lane splitting
>reasonable climate in the main major areas
>lots of twisty roads and plenty of race tracks
>special snowflake bikes from the 90s

>strict biannual inspections (although on the upside this means used listings aren't full of nigged to shit supersports)
>toll booths out the ass
>asinine approach to vehicle law enforcement including:
>fucked parking
>special snowflake helmet standard that limits availability of less round shapes
>180kph speed limiters on all domestic market vehicles
>speed limits that make no sense and are enforced in a typically Japanese way that encourages everyone driving the same speed in a pack, aka the exact opposite of what you want to do on a bike
>bikes sound/emissions cucked down to the next displacement class in power or just straight up not sold domestically like the current R1 and R6

>>
>>17201214
Why would I?
>>
>>17201214
No. I think giving a gift that dies is a metaphor, a very bad ine.
>>
>>17201214
Mom hates gifts and thinks they're a waste of money.

>why would you buy flowers, I have flowers in my backyard, bla bla bla
