Can anyone help me out with a shifter seal replacement? it's a zxr400 (92).
had been noticing spots of oil below the kickstand in the mornings, identified the leaks seal as the shifter seal rather than the final drive sproket seal.

Basically what i'm tryna figure out is whether i can just pick the old seal out (from the outside of the bike) and push the new one in? Or do i have to take the clutch apart and do it from the inside? Have done some extensive googling and there's nothing about it on the zxrworld forum.

brit anon with the honda vfr 400 any ideas?

>hit brakes
>because you all nervous and don't have time so just hit the brakes and don't downshift yet (by the time you will be in the next step the revs will be low enough)
>then

all this time always hit the brakes

Even in 30 km don't hold the clutch yet so the engine can help you brake all the time.
the worst thing to do is to hold clutch from the beginning.

It's the grade I'd worry about. not sure how you murricans handle it, but I replaced a load of the shite phillips bolts that came on mine with 12.9 SCHS. Anything down to 8.8 is probably better than what came on the bike, and you don't get nearly as much camming out.

Treatments you're likely to see:
dullish grey - untreated bare metal, avoid
very shiny silver - zinc galvanized, every corrosion resistant
black - black oxide, bless these bolts, but they're not really for outdoors applications
gold - not sure what this is, but good corrosion resistance anyway

the rear won't won't hopping because the revs won't be high and you let off the clutch slowly and can downshift again.
a lot of the time when you hold the clutch in the bike move with less resistance.(without thorethle in both cases)

in my emergency stops whenever I hold the clutch toward the end of the stop, it feel like the bike go faster for a split second because the engine is not resistancing the wheels.

you either got horrible brakes or a bike with a quickshifter and anti-hopping clutch that allows you to do such stupid shit like shifting during "emergency brakes".

you wanna stop you pull clutch and brakes and focus on not getting the rear of the ground.

And the engine will stall anyways if you dont clutch (after attempting to overcome your brakes)

No, my old man is a Guzzi nut to the point he made a business out of repairing, restoring, and customizing vintage Guzzi's (and some other stuff). I had my bike in his shop since I crashed last fall and just finished putting it back together. He had mentioned becoming a dealership but he doesn't like the new ones much and it's not easy being a Guzzi dealer.

Also do it, they're pretty tits.

>>
>>17063070
There are econoboxes with better 0-60 distances than most sportbikes, and when you start buying touring/sport touring tires that goes away

Braking is determined by grip. Bike brakes can lock the wheels easy but the tires can only grip so much.

Now add gravel, water, or a corner into the equation and you're taking forever to brake unless you want to fall on your ass

Sport touring tires are probably going to be better for stopping. On dry pavement they would have to be absolute shit to be the limiting factor on a sport bike and they're probably better at dealing with poor road conditions. It's the weight distribution and suspension geometry that's the limiting factor for a sport bike under ideal conditions because they will front flip before they lock up. Same shit as why drag bikes need massive swingarms and wheelie bars.

Alright dbt im in the market for a new bike.

Torkz. The Ninja 250 had to be revved to death to do anything. Before they stroked it it had the same dimensions as a Fireblade cylinder.

Get the cb because water cooled
>>
>>17063208
I put those on my zx6r when it had warped brakes. It was a huge pain in the ass to get the warped rotor off since someone had used red lock tight on the rotor bolts, ended up stripping the shit out of two bolts and having to hack them up to get them off
>>
>>17063499
Is single-cylinder shit on the highway? Can it break 100?

>encounter some fuckheavy traffic
>really need to piss, every bump a little bit squirts out
>bike idling like shit, temperature hovering around 98c
>can see traffic continues on for the forseeable future
>decide fuck it, going to ride on the shoulder since no HOV lane
>not legal here, but cops don't really care if it's traffic like this
>going good
>shoulder turns into dirt with a bunch of potholes 5km later
>go back onto the road because fuck that when on a supersport
>dude behind me starts laying on the horn, flashing his lights, and swerving
>don't really want to be right in front of this guy
>lanesplit a few cars up
>he tries to follow me but can't fit and people won't let him pass

>continues for 3 minutes
>he's almost causing an accident every 15 seconds
>decide fuck this, split 20 cars up so I'm pretty much out of sight
>don't see him for the rest of the time
you guys ever encounter extreme road rage like that?

don't really regret it, I'd probably still be sitting in that traffic right now.
>>
>>17063605
>Is single-cylinder shit on the highway?
Opinions. I think it's fine doing ~110-115kph in a 100kph zone, I tend to avoid 110 zones just because they're not really enjoyable without cruise control and a stereo anyways so I don't have much opinion how it rides on them.
>Can it break 100?
100 whats? 100mph is marginal but more than possible if everything is right. (it's sure as fuck not doing it with a 6'5" 220lb dude sitting upright)
>>
>>17063645
fuckingchildren mad you don't wait in traffic like they have to.
if you're already splitting you might as well move all the way up tho
>>
>>17063671
I would have but I was having to ride in a tiny little gutter on the side with hardly enough room for my bars.
>>
>>17063645
No, lane splitting is legal in my country and normies have an inherent fear of people who ride bikes because of how the media portrays all the gangs.

>>
>>17063827
The goal is not to find someone to shoot.
The idea is if you are ever in a situation where it's you or them you go home at the end.

Kinda like having a fire extinguisher. You have it so if there's a fire you put out the fire.

Not him but to be fair he isnt wrong, why the fuck would anyone actually need a gun on a bike lol?
You going to stop for road rage?
Id be scared of either losing it because its on my person while doing some enthusiastic riding or being shot by it during a crash.

I mean storing it somewhere on the bike would be pointless "hang on angry sir with a weapon, i need to retrieve my gun from under my seat and load a round into the chamber before we can have a stand off"

It's not.
It is designed to keep your gun secure while walking around, not while you throw your body around on a bike.
>>
>>17061753
Because most people can't identify a particular sportbike without seeing the headlights.

Without the headlights pretty much all sportbikes are nearly identical.

Manufacturers dont want their bike lost in a sea of similar to identical looking bikes with a generic looking front end.

Just put a new handlebar on my bike. Was never able to stand up on it comfortably without awkwardly bending over. Also the stock bar was steel and all scratched and bent. Replaced throttle tube and grips while I was at it.

Got the KX High bend because the spec sheets show it to be one of the highest bends. Also aluminum because reason.

Took it for a spin and it is a serious improvement in comfort and control while standing up. Also better while sitting. But it still is not quite there in terms of height.

Thinking of getting another 1" riser mounts to put it where I think it should be.

I'm 6'2" 34" inseam. Anyone else have to go to drastic measures to get the bars up to a comfortable height on a bike? Any reason not to get 1" spacers for the mounts?
>>
>>17063899
The gun is not going to go off if it's secured in a holster you fucking idiot. And chambering a round ready to fire isn't this drawn out process your making it to be.

there are also vests that ARE explicitly designed for motorcycle carry, but I don't know that they'd be an improvement on either of these
