that's not nearly being ran off the road, that's a normal day in the life of a motorcyclists, you shouldn't be in any situation where they're able to cut you off and have it cause you any distress, don't be next to them, if you aren't next to them, they pull out, you slow down a bit it ain't no thang, no stress.

You'll get used to it.

Eventually you just basically avoid almost anything "unexpected" happening through prior planning.

>take off, shifting into 3rd is really difficult
Is there a chance my clutch is fucked, or do I just have to adjust the clutch cable? This happened from one minute to the next while it was raining.
>>
>>16879412
does your clutch engage close to the handlebar rather than further out?
>>
>>16879412
clutch is fine just look in your bikes manual and do the adjustment procedure it recommends.
>>
>>16879425
As far as I can tell it doesn't fully disengage at all even if I pull the lever in all the way.
It used to bite about 1/3rd of the way in, closer to the handle.

>>16879431
Yeah I will, just wanted your expert opinion on whether I should check the clutch itself as well.
>>
>>16879439
hell no, don't even bother until you've done the cable. Takes 5 minutes max and you'll know if it's fine or not after that.

Goldwing has three times the power and a little over twice the weight.

Rip the shit off the Goldwing and you increase its ground clearance, power to weight, and handling substantially. Drastically increasing its performance.

Rip the shit off the Ninja 300 and do a bunch of power mods and you still have a slow as shit standard with some ugly wanna be bodywork.

he said he would but he makes the least amount of money in the house by far.

Pricing out all factory parts its about $1000 in damage, plus paint cost.

1. the 1299 is not legal in racing series, so they need to produce a homologation 1199R still.

2. "Prestige" brand means people will pay for the super expensive models, ducati is like ferrari, they built street bikes to go racing originally, this only changed in the mid 90s with the release of the monster.

3. Nobody gives a fuck about WSBK anymore, there are 3 people with real actual factory teams, Ducati, Kawasaki and MV agusta (who only run 1 bike and can barely afford to race), aprila stopped caring when they entered MotoGP, yamaha and honda are both "factory supported teams" but are not factory efforts.

What trouble would I have to go through to get a vin check on a motorcycle? A friend of a friend recently in got touch with me about a bike he wanted to trade. He has a bill of sale, which would still allow me to register it in my state. BUT the ignition and the gas cap lock are both torn out. I don't know him very well, but given his collection and half finished projects I don't he stole it, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. I rode it a bit and it's running perfectly fine and all he's not asking for much.

For $400 you can get a lot of helmet unless you're paying the Shoei/Arai/Shubert brand tax. I mean a fucking Shoei X-Fourteen is like $400 in Japan that's just them fucking us over.

For gloves you can go lower than 250USD a lot more easily than you can go higher. Like say in Alpinestars line that's the bottom of their sport boots but around the middle of their gloves, even if everything below is shit.

I understand that going to leather would be a step up, but otherwise.. What the fuck else do you need? As long as the quality is good enough to hold everything in place for a few moments (which it seems it is, 3 years and not so much as a loose stitch).

Helmets could be quieter but I've used worse. Tried a few and I guess Bell and Shoei just didn't fit right, they were actually louder.

Why would I spend $400 of my medium earned Canuckbucks on a textile jacket?

I wore them only a few times in winter so they never saw my sweat and haven't been deformed since they're too wide for me (that's why I'm selling them). It's a shame because they're undoubtedly the best piece of my equipment by far.

I can get on board with the helmet to an extent. But fuck.. $6-900 for a helmet?

It's a personal thing I think.. none of the other helmets I tried (including others from HJC) fit quite right. They all left gaps for air to make noise. Not sure if I tried an Arai or not. So if it's just a comfort thing, then I don't get it: buy whatever is comfy. They're all Snell rated, they're all just plastic and foam with bits of metal for clips and shit.

Also isn't Arai the brand with the fucky visors? I remember one of the "expensive" brands having a very weird visor clip design or something.

Bare foam will lose 30% of it's effectiveness after like 15 years, but encased in the UV-resistant materials newer helmets are made of, that's more like 30 years to lose 30% effectiveness.

Dont leave the helmet baking in the sun when parked because heat and dryness does accelerate the process. But still.. Manufacturer's suggest replacing every 7 years on average, which means you can reasonably expect 10 out of the damn things.

If I adjusted the air pressure at a gas station and didn't wait enough time for the tires to cool down before filling air pressure.
is there a difference in the PSI?. I mean if I put 32 PSI when the tire is not cold enough, what is the chances that there is actually more than 32 PSI in the tire?, because I don't want over pressure.

Pros
>Comfy
>Decent handling
>Fairly powerful for its size
>Pretty decent following so parts are plentiful
>Cheap to buy all things considered
>Takes regular
>Has center stand

Cons
>Stock seat isn't great
>Fuel economy isn't great (I've been getting 39 but I ride like a dick)
>Some aftermarket parts are did expensive
>Has a fairly snatchy throttle
>Yamalube is expensive

I got it last Saturday and have already done about 300 miles. It's really fun. I definitely wouldn't recommend it as a first bike though, but if you have experience it's pretty fun and comfortable.

I would be very surprised if you could feel that.

I honestly think you just imagine things at this point, especially considering the middle band on them is so damn tiny as well.

I've never heard anything like this from my bro who runs the tyres and does track, road and commuting on the things nor any review or anyone ever at all. I certainly didn't notice it when riding on them either.

I think you're absolutely crazy in the coconut dude.

Not mine, it was my buddy's. He commuted like 1.5hrs and he said it was fine, the tiny windscreen left alot to be desired, but the riding positing and torque more than made up for it. I only rode it twice, but the wind doesn't bother me much until about 80mph, granted I have a dualsport with no wind protection so I'm kinda used to it. If you're coming off off something with a larger windsceen you may hate it. Only really one way to find out, take a test ride on one m8.

Also, Nexx has it's own bluetooth device that was actually developed with Sena called the X-Com.
The helmet comes with a removable plate that you can swap the X-Com into. It allows it to not stick off the helmet like a traditional Sena. There are also cut outs in the foam for mounting the speakers into in order to not create pressure points.

So I'm trying to learn how to wheelie slowly and safely and after fucking around power wheelieing in first I realize that it's not the most reliable way plus it can be putting unnessary stress on the bike. However when I try to clutch up even on full throttle in 2nd the power is immediately lost and drops the rpm to the usual level for my speed. I don't think it's slipping as I've felt that when I first changed the levers. It's a first bike but something feels wrong trying to clutch up.

you should be in the power band before you even start the clutching process. And most people have a natural reaction to instantly chop throttle as soon as they pop the clutch, so make sure you're holding it open.

Research BMW owners forums, which tend to be very good. This is not a BMW owners forum. If you buy one, get the factory Robert Bentley service manual.

Don't overpay. Used German bikes aren't worth a lot with few exceptions. When you get it home perform a full service. I would bleed fresh brake fluid through the system because it's cheaper than parts.

Many old BMW brake hoses crumble and spew crumbs through the system. Aftermarket braided stainless lines have Teflon hoses and are far superior.

FZ6 was my friends first bike. He's dropped it once when he was first practicing in a parking lot. I can't see he's a good rider but he also mostly just got a bike for commuting since his car wasnt gonna pass smog and wasnt worth fixing. Fork seals blew at 32k miles. Also, the PO dropped it, first thing to get fucked on that bike is the fuel tank, sliders are a must!

You ever tried to ride a Harley from the "two guys in a barn" era? They don't go far.
>>
>>16880120
Styling from a different era. Most young riders want anime-inspired bikes which is fine, but you should be in touch with why you think what you think. Also red is a poor color choice for that machine.
>>
>>16881623
I mean if it works, it does. This things got like a hair under 100hp and weighs around 200kg/440lbs wet. That, tied with an engine that takes off past 8k RPM doesn't make a good learner bike.
>>
>>16880797
Price is right. Get Robert Bentley factory manual and hit BMW forums. I'd change all fluids including fork oil to begin afresh.
>>
>>16881630
to be fair, no motorcycles from that era went far.

Yeah the dude is kinda shit in anything twist but god damn is he a missile when it comes to lane splitting and navigating traffic. I think part of the problem tho is the PO put on some weird commuting only tires on the bike. 10k miles of commuting later and they still have meat. Probably not very good for cornering tho
>>
>>16880839
They do, like all Harleys, have by far the greatest aftermarket. You can build a complete one without buying a factory nut or bolt.

Evo Sporties are slow out of the box but quite reliable and pleasantly torquey. It's not a sport bike so you don't want one, but Sportsters have been a success since the 1950s for valid reasons.

You have no clue. Make informed statements or fuck off.
>>
>>16881651
No shit nigger.
>>
>>16881658
That's not a very good excuse tbqh. He's probably scared in the corners, which is usually what happens when you start on a quick bike. I had shit tires on my CX and I could keep up with people in gsxr600s and cbr600rrs because I rode the local mountain road every two days and practiced turning a lot.

It's a lot of what is explained in the sticky, I can speak from personal experience.

I can honestly afford it decent too, with financing of course, which I'm not afraid of.

My biggest gripe was speed since I'm coming from a Harley, I regret buying such a slow bike, but the r nine t racer actually comes with 110hp and 84 torque. Granted it's air cooled but a 2.9 0-60 and 145 top speed isn't bad at all
