Previously on /Dbt/: you don't want to see.
Cuckanon sperged because harleyfag posted some baggers.
it's been shit for roughly 6 months now.
Don't dwell on that though, just make good posts about bikes instead.
>tfw people build bikes out of empty lighters
looks fun, makes me want to try
Last two threads have been ruined by Fur- and Harleyfag respectively, somehow they end up making anime posters seem normal because at least they post bikes
I can try to talk to a friend of me who runs one of the sites linked in the car sticker thread, other option would be to just ask there
But since nobody wants to get their ass fucked selling bootlegged merch the best you'd get is reference/parody stuff I guess
It's probably because I haven't been posting very much. I'll try to be around more often to keep the riff raff in check.
Unrelated, I haven't seen Train Horn post in forever. He still alive?
Does anyone know anything about swapping engines in motorcycles? What would be a good resource to learn about custom building?
I kinda want to import a Kawasaki Balius engine to Canada and fit it in my Ninja 250. That might be a good time.
Is there a way to check if the two motorcycle frames are the same? If not, is there an easy way to mount the engine?
not first for harleyspammer cuck bought a pass
>still mad his autistic ass got filtered
Can't decide if i should go for a ktm950sm or a supertenere 1200
Fun or reason ?
Indestructible comfy all year commuter ?
Or pantsjizzing death machine ?
Comfy trips with -nonexisting- gf to the other side of europe or some weekend warrioring ?
I'd probably take the tenere because that thing could take you to the end of the world and back, and that is my fetish.
You could buy the yamaha AND a cheaper sumo to hoon around and lose your license.
Maybe you could buy
yeah you're doing it all wrong, here's an instructional video.
>he got triggered again
kek so much autism
So is it gonna be good or rubish?
End my suffering!
i thought but they are really rare where i live , and never under 10k€
i tried it and it's true , but the biggest issue is that i'm afraid of ktm's reliability , i need to ride 80+ km 5days/week , will i really get to do that all year without problem with the ktm ?
For commuting it's way better than the xtz in the city , but i will probably lose my balls in winter for the rest of the trip...
This and rear tire , and it will need contant maintenance for the chain , plus oil change every month for me..Kinda puts me off but damn that thing is amazing
Already have a xtx660 , i love it but highway parts are really a torture for long trips, i need a strong bi-cylinder
that's one of the things that i love about it ,
you are right , maybe i should get a cheap drz with it
>no helmet mohawk
no because I can still click on the hidden thumbnails I want to see
im sorry you have a single digit IQ and dont undertsnd this conceot
its very easy to see which posts are made by an asperging cuck and whihc ones are made by other people
>guy joins the group, just got into bikes, buys 750
>3 weeks later gets hit at red light while sitting still
>lanesplitting illegal lol
>can't ride for a month
>buys gsxr 1000
>first night back on a bike
>sitting at a red light
>rear ended by audi running light
>lanesplitting illegal lol
>flips 2 times in the air
>cops come etc. Etc
>rolls his bike to the sidewalk
>takes picture of a memorial for a biker that died there
>it was a guy who used to ride with us
>got rear ended on his S1000R 2 years ago at the intersection
>lanesplitting illegal lol
So it's 5 degrees outside, I'm home early, and fixed baiku with a hammer
Let's do this, bitch
what the fuck , is your gang name "it's orange , slam the brakes ! " ?
>Lanesplitting not legal where I live
>Lanesplit every single traffic light unless the light is about to turn green
>Cop tries to pull me over after lanesplit
>Too far in front of traffic to chase
>Always stop in front of the front car which lets them see me and has the benefit of not showing my plate
>Have only had that one cop get shitty at me for it
>Had a motorcycle cop follow me up a split once and we talked at the lights about our bikes
I don't give a fuck. My life > traffic rules. I don't understand people who don't try and defend themselves with their riding style. They are literally threatening your life the same as if somebody tried to stab or shoot you.
>tfw bought used 2012 DRZ400SM for first bike
>finally out of nobike status
>my only friend is a know-it-all who judges all my choices
>he is also a nobike
>"dude you should've got a ninja 300, when I get mine I'm going to smoke your ass on it"
>"dude why did you even get a dirt bike if you're not riding off road?"
>he already bought a shitty helmet that feels like it wouldn't stand up to a crash but has all kinds of tubes, fins, and LEDs on it to "look cool"
>makes fun of my plain jane helmet, jacket, and gloves even though I went for protection over style and invested as much money into them as I did my bike
>also makes fun of the career field I'm going into and makes me feel bad for choosing it
How do you get rid of a toxic friend when they're your only friend?
You only consider them toxic because you care about their opinion still. Stop caring about their objectively wrong "opinions" and they aren't toxic anymore, they're annoying. That is much easier to deal with.
Kill yourself or him . Preferably the latter for he'll die soon enough either way.
you become my friend/fuckbuddy
or we can leave the friend part out if you like.
>Mfw people crash by not turning an incredibly small amount
>Mfw I had my friends leaning harder than that their first day of riding while teaching them
It's hard not to care, but I can try my best.
I'll try to find local meetups. Nobody is really riding this time of year because it's cold, but in the spring I'll try group rides with others.
I don't have the heart to kill anyone. I want to fight him sometimes. He's skele-mode and I would probably win but I would feel infinite shame afterwards for letting my emotions get the best of me.
>what is your career field?
That's nice but I'll have to pass on the fuckbuddy part.
this idiot bought a gsx-r600 right afterward
after all, he had a whole 1000 miles of experience!
this is what motovlogging has done to riding.
New? Probably the best your gonna get is a textile Joe rocket or something. Not that good.
Listen to the other anons and go with a used good condition Jacket.
Kekd. But no, apparently both times the drivers were texting and didn't see the light. With the 750 crash there really shouldn't be a light there, but tough shit. It's right around a curve, and it's one of those shopping Center light for people to get out of the parking lots. The second one is a regular fucking 4 way 8 lane intersection. No excuse for the driver and he was being a fucking dick about it too. We are the opposite of slam on the brakes. On a motorcycle we know that we can stop much quicker, so we mostly eat lights if they turn yellow or just turn red as we are going through. It's safer that way.
You are exactly right. Late at night after midnight I treat red lights as stop signs and I'm always splitting. Too many drunk Mexicans rear ending people around me.
If you can come up with a better header and text for the speech bubble I'd gladly put that in.
Gixxers are tiny. Side by side no bigger than my cbr250r
>you don't need abs in the dry
>I'm autoposting everything wrong with harleys because I got triggered by harleyposter
>basically anything vic400 ever said
Well, the project isn't serious yet. It's good to look around and see if it's possible, or easy, before I go ahead with it. If the frames are completely different, then that means different motor mounts. That means fabrication.
You're probably correct. Especially since I'm Canadian, and importing is fairly easy.
But if I get a new bike, I may as well go for a cb400sf. But a 250 that can do 200kph would be awesome.
>Ride cbr250r for a year
>Put thousands upon thousands of km's on it
>Ride the hardest roads I can find over and over to get better
>Pick up a cbr600rr in addition to a supermoto
>Four months in, still feel green as fuck on the cbr
>Go to my favourite road to practice
>Also happens to be the hardest road I know
>Mfw overtaking a zx-10r
>Mfw overtaking a s1000rr
>Mfw overtaking a few 600cc bikes
It's like nobody even cares. Why ride sportsbikes if you don't want to get better? I still make so many mistakes but I ride better than these people. It boggles my mind that I can be at a level where I'll brake prematurely on corners, make mistakes with my throttle control, fuck up launches, refuse to pin the throttle and make a host of other mistakes yet still ride better than people who should, by every right, be better than my rookie as fuck ass.
High School Girls can only drive 400cc bikes at most in Japan, it is how it is.
>ooh orange gsxr looks like mine
>it's a "miss my bike" post
>see supreme sticker
>oh God why
>it's my bike
>mfw this is who I bought my bike off of
>the memes are real
Fuck off. I'm 5'7 and ride a wr250x with no issue. Here's a picture just after I bought her.
who knows, similar story with me here, although there is a very high percentage of people who do like to ride fast around the twisties here too, lot's of practice and self critical thought had me getting my knee down and doing wheelies and stoppies and what not before I got off my red P's here.
It just makes it kind of frustrating when you meet some nice bike friends then you go for a ride to the twisties, and it's not a case of like competing, or trying to "smash dem in da twisties" the speed you want to ride the road at just happens to be much quicker than them and it's like fuck.
Where is my posse of almost equally quick riders?
It's either ride (what feels like) too slow or leave them.
this is usually the response people give for some reason, "hurr durr pissing contest" if you like riding fast.
People can't just accept they like going slower it has to be the other party is WRONG for some reason.
No, I just said that if you want to go fast go on the racetrack.
I know there can always be someone coming the other way, or dirt on the road, or a deer, or any one of hundreds of variables that you have no control over so I always leave myself lots of room for error because I'm not 18 anymore.
Kinda surprised 2nd most horsepower 4 streetbike after zx14
Not counting h2 since not street legal
>People can't just accept they like going slower it has to be the other party is WRONG for some reason.
oh boy it continues
How about if you want to ride a motorcycle go to a racetrack, there's too many variables on the road to make riding safe there so I don't do it because I'm not 18 anymore.
>Where is my posse of almost equally quick riders?
I feel the same way. It's why I'm training my friends to get good. Unfortunately one has convinced himself to get a cruiser, but each to their own. The others are slowly getting faster and faster and it's great. Nothing is more rewarding than watching your friend who has been riding with you since he got his license get quick enough that you can get decent lean on a corner and watch him pop out only a second or so slower than you.
Of course I encourage riding to your own pace with learning friends and I refuse to increase my pace until they are comfortably able to follow me and request I go a bit faster to give them more room to grow.
If you're unable to react to changing road conditions or unable to pick safe lines then you need to slow down. Accept that some people are able to ride faster than you comfortably while still accounting for dirt, wildlife, opposite lane traffic, etc. Usually at least once a ride in my twisties I will need to slow to 20-30kmh to make it through a road bathed in dirt, or to give way to an animal. Not everyone who is faster than you is an idiot who is just waiting to crash.
MV agusta F4RC
all 200+ at the crank now
am I missing any bikes?
gsx-r might join the ranks mid-2016 too
I have a DR650 and it pops and burbles. Common since the very first was introduced; apparently it is due to the carb design. I kind of like it to be honest, but it isn't all that loud nor obnoxious to others.
I agree that a lot of riders ride poorly for the conditions. My initial comment wasn't so much bragging about my skill but questioning their lack of it. Every time you hop on your motorcycle you can die in a hundred different ways. Why wouldn't you want to improve your skill level? I have a lot of fun riding quickly in the twisties and learn a lot from it too. Being able to corner fast and with confidence is a skill that can save a riders neck and has saved mine before. Braking effectively, proper throttle control, body position, etc. are all skills that in an emergency situation may be put into play and could cause extremely different results depending on your mastery of it. If I didn't want to commit to doing the best I possibly can, I wouldn't ride a bike.
Why? Bikes and bike related stuff go into the bike thread.
The original image is from a promotional cooperation between Honda and Bakuon!! advertising a Bike GPS App.
>he didnt even notice there's /dbt/ on her phone
Why are you so angry that I'm trying to give us another way to have fun with our jokes?
they're the opposite of jokes, it's so unfunny it actually sucks any levity you have out of you.
here we go, explain how this piece of crap I just made is any different to these multiple counts of autism you've posted in the thread thus far.
What is the best beginner bike I can get for $1000?
I want a running bike and I am willing to spend 1000€. So no 500€-but-needs-work bikes pls.
I will work on them if they break down while I own them but I don't want to buy a project.
Ok I figured it's better to make a list of bikes available and you guys choose the best.
Hyosung Aquila 250
Yamaha VZR 600
Most of the bikes are from the 90s, some from the 80s, this won't be a problem or?
Yeah they're all running and ready to go.
Any reason why should I take the CB500 over something like the NTV650 or ER5, which are a bit more powerful?
Could only find a XR600 but it's not running and still costs 1000€. Cool bike though
He claims it's running and has no problems. I like the looks and power. So far my favorite.
it's >>14217828 here
I missed that, go for it
>Any reason why should I take the CB500 over something like the NTV650 or ER5, which are a bit more powerful?
The CB has a better frame, suspension and brakes than the ER5
I don't know much about the NTV650, never knew it existed so I ruled it out
Make a new batch of Webms from today's snowy ride
Maybe ride my dirt bike[s] a little later on
How much does your 300 weigh?
Or il just ask shit like fork seals and oil changes and shit
> immediately tap killswitch so it looks like it doesn't start easy
I gotta fix the frame before I consider selling. Went on a ride in October and loaded the rack too much on harsh bumpy terrain and broke the back of the frame off.
Oh and I have it street legalized, but from the factory the 300 was not legal, if that matters in your state.
Yeah it's a good bike to learn offroading techniques without the crutch of crazy power.
Probably had 30lb or so on it, some tools and an extra tube and a few snacks, etc.
Here's what it looked like earlier in the day before it broke.
I don't believe it does
I'm not in commiefornia
I would assume if I bought it street legal out of state it would transfer over easy enough
And I have the offroading techniques but I want something than a 250 but without the maitnence of a 450
So either buy something street legalized or buy a drz
And I havent been able to find a drz for under 3k in my state
Plus I'm hoping you would let it go cheap enough
Yeah I really wish someone would make a 450 with long service intervals. Where do you live?
Well let me get it fixed and I'll let you know. I'd let it go cheap, I got it for a song like 5 years ago and it's got a lot more miles and crashes on it now kek.
It would probably be mid-late summer until I'm prepared to buy anything anyways desu,
Need some more cash before I buy it
>know it has frame damage
>know its been dropped a billion times probably
Can't pull a Baird on me
>tfw had to look up what that meant
sorry anon, I'll come back in a month
Nice glock bro what model is that?
I need a 9 rd for my 30s, I hate how the mag protrudes from the bottom.
Don't listen to that faggot, stay here and shitpost with the rest of us.
Would be less than a grand. I'm not looking to make out on it, I just want to replace it with a KDX200/220 or similar later on now that I have the 650 for dual sporting.
>mfw I did and it was shit
pic is related.
it doesn't mean full on swerve into you crash you off the road or rearend you with 120mph
it's enough to touch lightly, lowside and slide across the asphalt. In that case you want gear or you gonna cry because your skin is gone
>watch motorbike trips for hours to spot good places to visit
>the guys with harleys/bmws/ducatis always have a problem or two during the trip
the force on a vehicle when stopping is:
F = ma
Where F is the force on the vehicle, m is its mass and a is the acceleration (negative in this case).
Next, that force is applied to the tires via traction as follows:
F = μW
Where W is the weight of the vehicle, and μ is the coefficient of friction.
The weight of the vehicle is its mass, m, times the gravitational force, g, so:
F = μmg
The maximum stopping force that can be applied is the maximum frictional force that the tires can cope with, so:
ma = μmg
What all this shows is that we can cancel the use of the variable m as it appears on both sides of the equation. In simple terms, it means that mass has no bearing whatsoever on stopping distances. The equation to thus show the maximum possible deceleration is
a = μg
So (negative) acceleration equals the coefficient of friction of the tires, multiplied by the gravitational force.
So, that light bike you have? When it comes to braking, it’s irrelevant. It’s down to the tires. And because a car has four of them instead of two (and they’re wider), it points towards a car being able to stop quicker. So, cars stop faster than motorcycles. Case closed.
Thanks for lecturing me on grade 11 physics.
I am saying that bald all seasons have such garbage coefficient of frictions that even if the brakes were good (which they aren't with 15-y-o brake fluid) the civic wouldn't stop quickly.
>(and they’re wider)
what does area have to do with the friction coefficient?
Tbh it may be a while until I would be able to pick it up
I won't be down south until April of 2017
So a full year away, and I may aswell pick it up when I'm in the area, instead of spending a shit ton on gas other wise,
You may sell it before them or I may ask you to hold it for me and give you a bit to do
It doesn't seem that you understand that all he said is 10 year old tires don't have as much grip as new ones. Granted a bike will flip at like 1G deceleration but still...
The amount of tires or contact patch doesn't have anything to do with grip (at least in theory, in the real world where slip angles exist, surfaces aren't infinitely stiff and dirt exists that changes somewhat)
T. Not the person you're arguing with
Suspension made of jelly
So yeah, basically get the cbr because if you're not getting the fuel economy of a small single or the flickability of something lightweight or the handling of something without a Yamaha badge then why get a 250 in the first place?
You have to ride with CC out near Cruces when you go get it. Some goddamn awesome terrain that I already miss after being gone from there for only two months. New Mexico is like DS not-quite-paradise-but-damn-good-nevertheless.
>aprilia rs 125
>handles like a dream, weighs nothing, alluminium frame, upside down forks, gives access to good tires
there you go, thats the best 250 right there except way faster
Tfw friend got a new dirt bike and it's plated and mine is plated and he's on his way over and we're gonna brap brap all over town and have good funtimes
Feels good man
first timer in the dbt, not sure why ive never been here before. how do you guys feel about driving in the cold/rain i crashed my shitbox so now im dailying my bike once again and its 15 degrees f
since its not terribly far i just wear 2 jackets gloves and a balaclava under my helmet, not really worth lugging around all the extra gear all day imo but it still gets fuggin cold. looks pretty cool when my breath fog comes out of my all black helmet
