I'm well aware of the safety factor in gloves, ridden bikes my entire life. Ever since I was a young kid I just can't do gloves. All the other safety gear of course, I have just never adjusted to riding with gloves on. Tried dozens of different styles/materials.

Can someone explain to me what's involved in getting a "tune" done? Everyone seems to recommend getting a tune done on a car but it doesn't make much sense to me unless the car has aftermarket engine management and you need to get a decent tune to run the engine well.

Like, what in the fuck is the point of getting a tune for a car with a stock ECU and basic EFI. I mean, the best that you can do for it in terms of making optimal power is getting properly gapped plugs, good ignition leads/coils, making sure there aren't any vacuum leaks, etc.

Fair few cars have tuneable ECUs that support a fair bit. Evos do, I think WRXs do, etc.
It's a good idea cause if you have a turbo you can up the boost and make more power. Some ECUs let you run antilag if it's hacked well enough.
You can't tune BMW ECUs (as such) but you can chip them, and you can map the chips for a lot of fun things.

Even if all you do is advance the timing to the point where it's making the most of pump 98, it can be a decent increase

Finally selling my piece of shit 1992 Daihatsu Feroza after getting it's last major mechanical problem fixed. Hoping for a 1.8 Lancer and if possible 2002 and blue.

The problem with selling is it that if you claim a repair through insurance, it'll show up if people bother looking at carfax reports. If you don't do it through insurance but are honest about it, people will question why you didn't just go through insurance unless it was deemed a write off. If they're smart enough to notice signs of a previous collision, they won't want to buy it.

Gents, what's the best way of getting year old petrol out of a car that doesn't have a fuel tank drain? I've tried getting a hose in to siphon it out but I'm pretty sure it has some form of theft protection, the hose just seems to stop feeding in at a certain point.
