Do I have to use distilled water in my radiator or can I just use boiled water? Mixing with Nulon concentrated. 1/3 coolant, 2/3 water.
>>
>>14175830
Distilled water is best as it has a very low PPM of solids/contaminants. If you are going to use boiled water you may as well just put it in straight from the tap.

I use reverse osmosis water for my radiator, it is usually less than 10PPM
>>

>only meeded brakes, suspension
major stuff or just pads and etc?

It might be because I'm high but I think I have figured out the art of the driftu.

It's not about the power or hitting the handbrake mid turn, it's about the weight, lifting off the throttle mid corner will send the back out and reaplying the throttle will move the weight back inducing oversteer/madskizintiatree.

How close am I?
>>
>>14176294
front rotors and pads

Why are used bikes so expensive?

In fact why are bikes in general so expensive?

FFs, 6300 is the cheapest I can get a ride away dual sport

And a 2nd hand of a similar model costs 5000 w/o rego. (these are all 250 class DS)

>>14176707
don't be a pussy and buy 2nd hand, as long as it doesn't look munted you'll be right
>>
>>14176707
Look at used bikes, wait for a clean example of whatever you're looking for specifically to pop up and when it does get it inspected by a mechanic to make sure it's as good as it seems.

I bought my 2011 Ninja 250 used almost two years ago and I've had literally zero issues with it. Put 18k on the odo so far and it's given zero fucks.

$6300 for a new 250 dualsport seems pretty steep imo, you could get a lot more bike for that money in the used market.

Shit takes time man, bike hunting doesn't happen overnight, especially if you're looking for something specific.

If you're gonna get a cheap throwaway bike get a GPX/ZZR250, much better than a CB125E. Unless you're specifically looking for a 125 because $200 cheaper rego in some states.

Hell, if you're feeling crazy you could chuck some 17' knobbies on the ZZR and take that off road for shits and gigs.

GTA V or just cause 3? Got some Christmas money to splurge so $50 doesn't seem too bad right now
>>
>>14176744
Squishy, you seem to be very well read on this matter

So, in your opinion for under 4000~ ride away, what sort of bike should I be looking at that would be capable to do adventure touring (with some mods) and maybe light off-road with knobblies?

Will the Inamuza, the VTR, suffice? Just hit me with as many bike recommendations as you can give me.

Because up until now I've been fixated on t he CRF250L, the DRZ400E, the WR250R, but I find the 6300 Rideaway a lot to stomach for the cheapest of the lot new. (5500 is the cheapest used I could find)
>>
>>14176735
I bought an old suzuki across in excellent condition with low mileage, you might be able to find a similar bike around the price range of a newish 125E if you're into the sportbike look (it's an i4 250 as well which is fuckn rad)

Dual sports seem to be the most expensive, in my opinion you're better off getting a road bike now and then getting a shitbike in the future
just make sure to be ready to walk away from any obvious flaws in a sale

Anyone retrofitted a electric water pump to a older car?

Craigdavies has a kit with controller that sells for about $300-$400. Apparently you just cut off the propellers on your mechanical unit, pull out the old thermostat and attach the electric pump to the bottom outlet of the radiator. You can then set what temp you want the car to run at with a controller in the dash.

They quote 10KW at the flywheel for a VT 5.0 with this mod, but that sounds optimistic to me.

Also thinking of running manual steering and fucking off the AC, so I'd be only running the alternator via the belt.

3-6HP for the steering, fuck all for the AC pulley, 3-6 HP for the electric water pump...

Usually if something does appear ahead the one being overtaken slows down.

Plus majority of the time before I pass a road train I call them up on the UHF and ask if its all good to come around. Then they usually reply about it being all dark and if anything comes they will powerdown to let you past faster.
>>
>>14177006
first of why the fuck would you waste your time going to the cricket and secondly the reason we have so much trouble communicating with abbos is because they are animals they are not people. niggers are people, shitty brown people but abbos aren't even close. they should all be put down like the rabid wild animals that they are.

Ehh, I know a little about bikes but I'm by no means an expert.

As far as dualsports go the DR-Z comes to mind, they come in 250 and 400cc versions and should be pretty common (and I would assume cheap, especially for the 250). The KLX250/300 also comes to mind, although they're pretty underpowered for what they are.

Older DR650's and KLR650's could also be good, even in Tassie you see them pop up for 3-4k occasionally.

It really depends on what sort of "light off-roading" you intend to do. Road bikes can do gravel fire roads just fine, provided you don't try to be a sick cunt and hang the tail out on every corner. The main limiting factor will be tyres, so investigating some 50/50 road/trail tyres in road bike sizes could be an option.

As far as road bikes go, pretty much anything Japanese will do you well. Ninjas, CBR's, VTR's etc it's all good. I would move away from the Inazuma though, they're pretty underpowered as far as 250's go.

An oddball (ish) option could be the V-strom 650, fairly sure they made a LAMS version. Could be pretty pricey though.

Isn't the CRF250L the bike with the spaghetti frame that bends easily? Might want to stay away from those so you don't get stuck with a bike you can't get rid of because the frame's all kinds of fucked up from the one time you dropped it.

hey /o/, update on the prelude i was looking at for those who were interested. After getting it on the hoist, it was completely fucked, oil was leaking on the underside near transmission, oil pan was leaking and scratched to death, there were multiple dings in the exhaust pipe and within about 2 weeks, fuel gauge went from 1 quart to nothing readable, suggesting it was burning a lot of petrol.

I'd probably lean towards DRZs for learners. You're bound to neglect it a little bit while you're learning and that bike is pretty much bullet proof and very forgiving with stuff like that.

Unfortunately CBR250RRs are getting passed their heyday now. They're slowly disappearing and parts are steadily getting harder to find.

Got to work on a 'Godmachine' today, last years Toyota 86.

I've been interested in them as a car, not to the point of wanting to own one but you know, RWD Front engine, light'ish, pretty much all the things you want in a fun car.

Best descriptive word if I can only pick one is 'Cheap'

If you are over 6 foot tall I wouldn't bother, Im 6"3 and my knees hit the steering wheel with the seat all the way back and about 3cm of clearance to the roof.

Acceleration was OK for what it is but nothing worth bragging about.

Braking was good apt but its only pulling up a small car so meh.

Suspension is set up fairly balanced and it handles well as a stock car BUT they get this by having harder springs. Hard enough that it would fucking suck as a every day car, hard enough that the cheapness really showed its face on bumpy roads and there were rattles everywhere

No, it's well and truly done, registered. Got to take it for a drive for a little while even... but spun a bearing about 20km out of Blacktown. Started with a light tapping and then progressed to full on knocking with a massive drop in oil pressure. All I can do is laugh about it man, if there is a God out there He seriously doesn't want me to have this car. Had to get a towie to take it back to TSI, we're gonna figure out what we can do in terms of getting it shipped to Wagga so I can do the repair works and get a replacement rotating assembly for it.

I'm staying optimistic bud, basically means I can get stuck into building what I really wanted sooner than was originally intended.

Sounded fine to me, usual second or so of clatter while oil pressure builds but my AE82 does that anyway so I wasn't concerned, seems to be a common thing for the engine. Troy didn't have any issues with it in Japan as far as I'm aware and neither did TSI, though they were only moving it around really and not actually driving it.

well you don't really have many options there do you
>>
>>14183583
Just push it. It's not like meme machines are heavy.
>>
>>14183583
Are you 100% that it actually spun the bearing?
Only ways to get it to wagga are truck or trailer, and you don't have anything that can tow a trailer
GG

>Are you 100% that it actually spun the bearing?
Not 100%, but if it isn't a bearing it's something else that really isn't happy. Pulled off the M7, it was tapping while idling at like 600 RPM, oil pressure was concerning too. Pulled out the dip stick and gave it a wave around which usually lets it cool off enough for me to wipe the oil off, no such luck, it was extremely hot, far more than it should be.

Have you checked the oil level? And are you still in syd
>>
>>14183642
Looked okay when I pulled over after calling it quits, could definitely smell it though. You reckon it might be a case of Top Secret not filling properly?

And nah man, I caught a quick impromptu flight this arvo back to Wagga, gotta go to work tomorrow.
>>
>>14183668
Could be. Getting hot is a usual symptom of not having enough dino goo
I just can't think why else an engine would spin a bearing when it's just running easy.
Perhaps contaminants were left over from the old oil and it fucked off cause of that
>>
>>14183404
Sweet, now I just need to go get my shims and air filter from dealership tomorrow and fit it all.
>>
>>14183493
That's it, you can get 300 clams if you are a gummint employee. All you say is that you bought a treadmill or something, no receipts needed.

How long have you had the bike?

I see you posting over on the /dbt/.

IIRC you were asking about that bike a week or so ago, I assume you bought it?
>>
>>14183913
yeah I bought the bike on the 29th, 39,000 on the odo and no signs of it being replaced or tampered. Seems to be in pretty good condition but the previous owner says he never checked the valves so I've added that to my list of things to do in the next few days

Been thinking of business opportunities lately.

I've never done drugs in my life nor plan to but weed will soon be legal in the USA ay?

Should i invest in that shit or what? I've been sitting all day thinking of the next invention that cunts will buy but this shit came to mind

What do you autists think
>>
>>14183923
How are you going to invest in it?
Short of pre emptively being in a state where it might be legalised next and having a supply and business ready to go I don't see how you could. Unless some mega corporation decided to start mass producing spliffs.

You'd have to wait for some publicly traded company to pop up.

How are you going to invest in a newly available commodity with no real means of distribution or company set up to actually invest in?

When it becomes legal it will obviously happen after some time.
