Loving cars hurts, wish my room mate was home so I could steal his beater
barra is good but it would need to be turbo
and the one I could probably afford (BA) has gearbox and diff problems
manual would be too expensive and more likely to be thrashed
guess I need to keep digging

>woolworths sold dick smith gift cards last week at a 10% discount knowing they would go bust
>somehow this is legal
Fuck you kikes, I lost $16 worth of gift cards
I guess I got lucky.
Bought those gift cards from Woolies last week with the 10% bonus credit, ordered tablet online with them same day, picked it up a couple of days ago.
STILL MAD I LOST $16 THOUGH
THAT'S ALOTTA KFC
Distilled water is best as it has a very low PPM of solids/contaminants. If you are going to use boiled water you may as well just put it in straight from the tap.
I use reverse osmosis water for my radiator, it is usually less than 10PPM
If a company declares liquidation which I assume Dicks has or will do, you as a share holder/gift card holder/ lay-by holder are entitled to 1c of every dollar or some shit.
Welcome to how business works.

Fuck off feminist scum, you're not even fighting for equality anymore, you're just a bunch of angry extremists with daddy issues.
and no, for once i'm not talking about mr coconut
It might be because I'm high but I think I have figured out the art of the driftu.
It's not about the power or hitting the handbrake mid turn, it's about the weight, lifting off the throttle mid corner will send the back out and reaplying the throttle will move the weight back inducing oversteer/madskizintiatree.
How close am I?
front rotors and pads
suspension thus far is front sway bar bushings and linkages and front rear shocks
tuning is mafless otr and exaughst thats it so far
>mfw dropping it in tomorrow
>mfw my first dynotune
If you want to master the drifu you need a RWD with a LSD and Dirt/Tarmac road in the countryside.
And no dont drift in the wet if you dont know what your doing, learn weight transfer and scando flick
Fuck that shit, moved my car 10meters into the carport and I'm pretty sure I took months off the clutch's lifespan.
Very worried that I'm not going to understand the physics behind this later

How do I stop this? It's a fucking diesel golf
He probably has a cold air intake waiting to be installed then a dyno+tune, probably will increase the power by 20kW.
Watch out though, after he installs a sick bov it will be the fastest on the tougay
>had mk3 vr6 golf as a first car

my mounts are fricked senpai.
went to mechanic and he said he rarely replaces transmission mounts and engine mounts in my car being collapsed causes no issues as engine already moved around a ton.
i assume most people ditch a car before trans mounts collapse? how many km is your car?
my mums fords transmission just shit itself, options are to push it into a paddock and burn it or I can try my first transmission change
All I've done is change oil, how hard would it be to throw a cheapy from the wreckers in with a weekend, haynes manual and half a slab
Why are used bikes so expensive?
In fact why are bikes in general so expensive?
FFs, 6300 is the cheapest I can get a ride away dual sport
And a 2nd hand of a similar model costs 5000 w/o rego. (these are all 250 class DS)
take a piss in the radiator m8, you'll get better results
bottle the cunt
What do you suggest I do? I'm confused as fuark, unsure if I should take a risk and buy 2nd hand, not take a risk and pay full price (6300) for a dual sport bike in the 250cc category.
Look at used bikes, wait for a clean example of whatever you're looking for specifically to pop up and when it does get it inspected by a mechanic to make sure it's as good as it seems.
I bought my 2011 Ninja 250 used almost two years ago and I've had literally zero issues with it. Put 18k on the odo so far and it's given zero fucks.
$6300 for a new 250 dualsport seems pretty steep imo, you could get a lot more bike for that money in the used market.
Shit takes time man, bike hunting doesn't happen overnight, especially if you're looking for something specific.
If you're gonna get a cheap throwaway bike get a GPX/ZZR250, much better than a CB125E. Unless you're specifically looking for a 125 because $200 cheaper rego in some states.
Hell, if you're feeling crazy you could chuck some 17' knobbies on the ZZR and take that off road for shits and gigs.
Squishy, you seem to be very well read on this matter
So, in your opinion for under 4000~ ride away, what sort of bike should I be looking at that would be capable to do adventure touring (with some mods) and maybe light off-road with knobblies?
Will the Inamuza, the VTR, suffice? Just hit me with as many bike recommendations as you can give me.
Because up until now I've been fixated on t he CRF250L, the DRZ400E, the WR250R, but I find the 6300 Rideaway a lot to stomach for the cheapest of the lot new. (5500 is the cheapest used I could find)
I bought an old suzuki across in excellent condition with low mileage, you might be able to find a similar bike around the price range of a newish 125E if you're into the sportbike look (it's an i4 250 as well which is fuckn rad)
Dual sports seem to be the most expensive, in my opinion you're better off getting a road bike now and then getting a shitbike in the future
just make sure to be ready to walk away from any obvious flaws in a sale
just have a good look around, my brother picked up this up for $300

What state are you in? Does it have to be 250cc? If you're just after a bike with that sort of styling to have while restricted just grab a DRZ400 for 5k.
Bulletproof and plenty of fun to last until your full license and beyond.
I went to a dealer and tried sitting on a DR-Z, I'm 5'11 and I could barely place my feet on the ground, I don't know if the DR-Z400 is for me as I'd like to have both legs planted to be honest.
I imagine driving one of those trucks would be really bizarre.
More or less the same height as every other dual sport (even the 250s). If you go the sumo route the seat height will be considerably lower, or you can also get the seat shaven down to reduce 1 - 2 inches.
Anyone retrofitted a electric water pump to a older car?
Craigdavies has a kit with controller that sells for about $300-$400. Apparently you just cut off the propellers on your mechanical unit, pull out the old thermostat and attach the electric pump to the bottom outlet of the radiator. You can then set what temp you want the car to run at with a controller in the dash.
They quote 10KW at the flywheel for a VT 5.0 with this mod, but that sounds optimistic to me.
Also thinking of running manual steering and fucking off the AC, so I'd be only running the alternator via the belt.
3-6HP for the steering, fuck all for the AC pulley, 3-6 HP for the electric water pump...
>leaving the cricket in adelaide
>see a bunch of abbos arguing
>cop starts walking towards them
>aw fuk you noonga and other undeciferable shit being yelled
>hundreds of people walk past trying not to laugh while the cop trys to break them up
fuckin abbos man
Usually if something does appear ahead the one being overtaken slows down.
Plus majority of the time before I pass a road train I call them up on the UHF and ask if its all good to come around. Then they usually reply about it being all dark and if anything comes they will powerdown to let you past faster.
first of why the fuck would you waste your time going to the cricket and secondly the reason we have so much trouble communicating with abbos is because they are animals they are not people. niggers are people, shitty brown people but abbos aren't even close. they should all be put down like the rabid wild animals that they are.
I do that around corners everywhere senpai, just slightest bit of oversteer with awd at slow speeds, need to be going 60+ for it to really steep out proper, then I wait until I'm aimed in the direction I want to exit and peg it out
I'd probably kill myself when I drive a rear wheel drive car again
this is me, i find cricket exceptionally dull but if the boys offer me a ticket and a couple of frosties, i'm there.
but then again i legitimately watch and enjoy esports so everyone's got different tastes
>there are australians who don't like cricket
Also leave Gayle alone. He's a fucking legend you soft cocks
It's not that hard but it can be an annoying cunt depending where the bolts are.
Would recommend at least one mate to give you a hand if the car is any bigger than a hatchback as getting the new tranny in can also be a fiddly as fuck job.
>you seem to be very well read
Ehh, I know a little about bikes but I'm by no means an expert.
As far as dualsports go the DR-Z comes to mind, they come in 250 and 400cc versions and should be pretty common (and I would assume cheap, especially for the 250). The KLX250/300 also comes to mind, although they're pretty underpowered for what they are.
Older DR650's and KLR650's could also be good, even in Tassie you see them pop up for 3-4k occasionally.
It really depends on what sort of "light off-roading" you intend to do. Road bikes can do gravel fire roads just fine, provided you don't try to be a sick cunt and hang the tail out on every corner. The main limiting factor will be tyres, so investigating some 50/50 road/trail tyres in road bike sizes could be an option.
As far as road bikes go, pretty much anything Japanese will do you well. Ninjas, CBR's, VTR's etc it's all good. I would move away from the Inazuma though, they're pretty underpowered as far as 250's go.
An oddball (ish) option could be the V-strom 650, fairly sure they made a LAMS version. Could be pretty pricey though.
Isn't the CRF250L the bike with the spaghetti frame that bends easily? Might want to stay away from those so you don't get stuck with a bike you can't get rid of because the frame's all kinds of fucked up from the one time you dropped it.
hey /o/, update on the prelude i was looking at for those who were interested. After getting it on the hoist, it was completely fucked, oil was leaking on the underside near transmission, oil pan was leaking and scratched to death, there were multiple dings in the exhaust pipe and within about 2 weeks, fuel gauge went from 1 quart to nothing readable, suggesting it was burning a lot of petrol.
>Tfw back to the drawing board
Will 5k be enough for a decent roadworthy lude?
I only watch enough cricket so I can keep up with all the funny memes.
Shit talking about cricket with mates is fair dinkum too.
Heh, I was in sixth gear in my video. The acceleration is a lot faster if I shift down first.
This doesn't exist in /dat/.
I drove a tour bus in 2014 that was about ten meters long. I got used to it really quickly, but those road trains would take a bit of getting used to I think.
I'd probably lean towards DRZs for learners. You're bound to neglect it a little bit while you're learning and that bike is pretty much bullet proof and very forgiving with stuff like that.
Unfortunately CBR250RRs are getting passed their heyday now. They're slowly disappearing and parts are steadily getting harder to find.
>spent last few years driving like a fuckwit and getting away with it because my car looks granny-spec
>thinking of getting a commodore now and not sure if i'll get away with it anymore
why the fuck is some shitty music being linked in the OP? is the artist one of the tripfags here or something?
>what was the most common problem you experienced in your early years of owning a car /dat/ ?
Engines just tend to start knocking with me, 3 out of 4 cars have done it. Most likely bearings.
havent really had any issues(touch on wood) this is my first car however.
things which have gone which i consider maintenance however have been:
timing belt and water pump, brakes and engine mounts.
i think that when you accept that things will go eventually but you can try your best to use better parts ownership becomes less of a worry.

>cops out the front talking to them
>kids everywhere running
>all their toys scattered on the grass on their lawn and everyone elses lawn
>coming to the intersection, about to turn
>completely distracted by all the commotion going on with that house
>check both ways, think an oncoming car is parked for some reason and then I turn left
>only as I turned I just realise that car wasn't parked and was moving
>thankfully it turned left as well (didn't have indicators on, must have also been distracted with the abbos)

Sure did mate, she is great and she works for the ATO. Last years tax return was over 6k due to her knowing the system so well.
Its true, all the benefits she told me about and the shit you can get a day off for, plus free money just for saying you will spend it on a fitness item. oh and like 18% super. There is heaps more too.
Oh and holidays, When the average company closes over christmas you have to take whatever time off out of your annual leave, not at the gummint that is just a free 2 weeks holiday as it wasn't when you wanted to take the holidays. Even if you did.
Got to work on a 'Godmachine' today, last years Toyota 86.
I've been interested in them as a car, not to the point of wanting to own one but you know, RWD Front engine, light'ish, pretty much all the things you want in a fun car.
Best descriptive word if I can only pick one is 'Cheap'
If you are over 6 foot tall I wouldn't bother, Im 6"3 and my knees hit the steering wheel with the seat all the way back and about 3cm of clearance to the roof.
Acceleration was OK for what it is but nothing worth bragging about.
Braking was good apt but its only pulling up a small car so meh.
Suspension is set up fairly balanced and it handles well as a stock car BUT they get this by having harder springs. Hard enough that it would fucking suck as a every day car, hard enough that the cheapness really showed its face on bumpy roads and there were rattles everywhere
I'm waiting on new blinkers to come from das Germans, left side was just standard fade but the right hand one, I ninja kicked it clean off getting off the bike. They should be here this week though so some time after I wire them in this weekend.
I didn't crawl out of it wanting to buy one. Don't get my wrong though, it would be buckets of fun on a twisty road that you could keep speed flowing through corners, or a downhill run.
Uphill it simply doesn't having the pulling power, and as a daily driver that suspension is shit house.
I had 5 grand worth of Buddy Club track spec coil overs in the Skyline and it was more comfortable on the street.
>Sudden want for a Rhodesian-built Alfa
I'm not entirely sure why.
alfa romeos are stunningly beautiful but also stunningly crappily built. my mate bought a GTV and that thing was an endless money pit, he could probably count the number of hours he got to drive it when he owned it since it never went one day without breaking down. he ended up fixing it till it ran just long enough for someone to test drive it and buy it.
alfa romeo. not even once.
So this happened today, pic related.
It's a stop sign for both sides, I'm in the green car. So when it's clear the orange and red car go at the same time. and when I pull up at the intersection and stop the brown car pulls up at the same time and then cuts infront of me. He's in the wrong right, He should have given way to me?
Why the fuck do you need a shitty diagram for something so obvious?
Did you want us to all pat you on the back and tell you the brown car was a bad brown man and should have his license revoked?
I bet you're still on your red P's.
Fucking Germans so efficient that its here now, Missus picked it up but didn't tell me it was here.
Also because I know everyone loves pictures of dumb shit.
Here are some one off vented drum brakes on a trailer.
Owner DIDN"T know, only wanted the bearings to be replaced as it was meant to be going for a long ass drive and hasn't been looked at for a long time.
don't worry mate, we know exactly why
And with some soldering magic they are on and work, bloody bright though.
Ian Smith did nothing wrong.
>Don't tell me more complications arose/it's not done yet.
No, it's well and truly done, registered. Got to take it for a drive for a little while even... but spun a bearing about 20km out of Blacktown. Started with a light tapping and then progressed to full on knocking with a massive drop in oil pressure. All I can do is laugh about it man, if there is a God out there He seriously doesn't want me to have this car. Had to get a towie to take it back to TSI, we're gonna figure out what we can do in terms of getting it shipped to Wagga so I can do the repair works and get a replacement rotating assembly for it.
I'm staying optimistic bud, basically means I can get stuck into building what I really wanted sooner than was originally intended.
Forgot to mention I was literally on my way to find somewhere to park so I could send a message to BLDC and ask how the weather was. It's been raining all day in Sydney, heavy rain up in Central Coast and Northern Sydney so I didn't know if a meet would be called off or not.
Sorry for your lots etc.
I'm assuming it was fine before you finally picked it up?
At least it's finally in your hands I guess. And you have an excuse to rip the engine out and go to town on it now, too.
Life, man. She moves in mysterious ways sometimes, with no rhyme or reason to be found.
first crash on the new dash cam for the work truck
>I'm assuming it was fine before you finally picked it up?
Sounded fine to me, usual second or so of clatter while oil pressure builds but my AE82 does that anyway so I wasn't concerned, seems to be a common thing for the engine. Troy didn't have any issues with it in Japan as far as I'm aware and neither did TSI, though they were only moving it around really and not actually driving it.
I dunno man, I drove it very light today, I don't think it saw over 3500 RPM.
Having said that, I don't think even the AE82 has ever seen the redline in my possession. Maybe 7k or so, still has another 700RPM to play with there though. Never hit the limiter in it.
>4age a shit
Nah man, they're too fun to be shit. Driving Mum's little Mazda buzzbox thing made me realise that I've never come across another engine that's so... eager. So many econoboxes I've driven seem reluctant to pass beyond 4000 RPM or so, it's like they get bored or something and just stop trying. 4A-G's just seem to wind up forever and ever and ever, and sound fantastic while doing it.
Significantly more than $600
But you won't even find a rolling shell for less than $3000 these days, and I like the car enough to justify it.
The whole "hurrr you fell for the meme" thing is precisely the reason why I didn't want to bring it up until necessary though.
who cares maybe idk
>probably babbies first skid in the wet
>didnt know what to do
bald tyres from the look of it too
lol get some spares, or a mock black top
the one I bought for 600 was 4ac, not running, tank full of diesel, rad support damaged, rust at the top of the windscreen, and to top it off the colour was poop brown
this was at least 4 years ago, I didn't know what a torque wrench was and I didn't see the value or I would've kept it
if that's the car then fukken noice, good that you didn't get a panda one, heaps overdone
also i'm pretty sure that heaps of old toyota stuff will bolt right in. i.e. rad support seemed identical on an sv20 camry from memory
>if that's the car then fukken noice
Cheers m8, it is indeed the car, photo was taken in early October.
Should be able to scrounge some AE82 parts for it if necessary as well, pretty sure they'd share some bits and pieces.
Was changed at TSI along with the filter, level was good as well although I don't know the weight that they used, I would have put in 10W45 myself but who knows.
My guess is that it's more of a history thing than anything else. It doesn't stink of mistreatment because it's tidy as fuck for a car of its age, so it's all just an anomaly to me.
Any suggestions on a decent way to get it 550km inland?
>Are you 100% that it actually spun the bearing?
Not 100%, but if it isn't a bearing it's something else that really isn't happy. Pulled off the M7, it was tapping while idling at like 600 RPM, oil pressure was concerning too. Pulled out the dip stick and gave it a wave around which usually lets it cool off enough for me to wipe the oil off, no such luck, it was extremely hot, far more than it should be.
who /summernats/ here?
I'm a canberra native and I hate it
Looked okay when I pulled over after calling it quits, could definitely smell it though. You reckon it might be a case of Top Secret not filling properly?
And nah man, I caught a quick impromptu flight this arvo back to Wagga, gotta go to work tomorrow.
Could be. Getting hot is a usual symptom of not having enough dino goo
I just can't think why else an engine would spin a bearing when it's just running easy.
Perhaps contaminants were left over from the old oil and it fucked off cause of that
yeah I bought the bike on the 29th, 39,000 on the odo and no signs of it being replaced or tampered. Seems to be in pretty good condition but the previous owner says he never checked the valves so I've added that to my list of things to do in the next few days
Been thinking of business opportunities lately.
I've never done drugs in my life nor plan to but weed will soon be legal in the USA ay?
Should i invest in that shit or what? I've been sitting all day thinking of the next invention that cunts will buy but this shit came to mind
What do you autists think
How are you going to invest in it?
Short of pre emptively being in a state where it might be legalised next and having a supply and business ready to go I don't see how you could. Unless some mega corporation decided to start mass producing spliffs.
You'd have to wait for some publicly traded company to pop up.
How are you going to invest in a newly available commodity with no real means of distribution or company set up to actually invest in?
When it becomes legal it will obviously happen after some time.
I still say it needs a 910 Bluebird on there
Nah no service history, just a list of maintenance he had done himself. I'll have it looked at by someone who knows more than me in a couple of days.
fight me dog
