Not space related or similar to before mentioned albums, but I was also fond of Fyrnask's last year's release Forn. It's atmoshit, but had a solid occult vibe going for it and when it isn't ambient, it's p good.

New Septic Flesh was a surprising return to form after Titan. Not quite up there with The Great Mass or their early albums, but pretty strong.

you could download Guitar Hero 3 on pc somehwere or get Phase Shift for pc it has tons of custom charts and stuff around. You'd need a wireless xbox adapter for windows to use the instruments on pc if you don't have wired ones though.
Phase Shift:

As a warning a lot of the links use ZippyShare (all of the Rock Band and Guitar Hero ones at least) which in the past has opened a popup that triggered my antivirus so watch out for that. You might also dislike the Phase Shift UI so you can find themes here:
http://dwsk.proboards.com/board/6/user-mods-themes
to make it look like any of the Rock Band or Guitar Hero games. Also I'm pretty sure all of the songs in the links I posted should work with Guitar Hero 3.

>>75076259
It has a lot of variety in composition for a dissomeme record that isn't from Deathspell Omega. Each track has its own identity, which is something a lot of more generic metal records just don't have. But at the same time, it relies completely on riffs to pull this off as well, so it's not some kind of gimmick trash. There's aspects of this record that can be traced to not just disomeme, but more cold sounding black metal, more riffy black metal, and even dark ambient although this is not super apparent because they do it all in their own style (which is a positive if anything.) Too many people hating on stuff like this because it goes over their heads completely. The equivalent of people who in 1989 (and some tourist/new guys who still do today) would've called Altars Of Madness a boring meme because they can't into intense yet technical and raw songwriting.

>DragonForce gained a lot of extra popularity in 2007 when their song, “Through the Fire and Flames” was featured as a bonus playable track in Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. It became a hit with countless Guitar Hero players for its extreme level of difficulty when played on “Expert” difficulty. There many videos on YouTube of expert players playing the song; some with 100% accuracy. The two videos linked here have earned more 17.9 million views and 5.6 million views each.

This is all about marketing and surely even you understand how marketing works. Guitar Hero gave them a lot of exposure, yeah absolutely. A lot of songs get great exposure but fail to grow from there because people don't really like the song (also the inverse of that). A lot of people got exposed to the song that would've never heard it otherwise, that's true. But so many of those people also loved the song so it grew into it's popularity and I provided evidence for that.

If it was a shitty song, people wouldn't have gone out and bought it in the numbers they did.

Bandwagon fallacy. Sales of any pop song "prove" pop is the best genre of music. Meme songs like Axel F sold a lot too.

Maybe if you look at raw numbers, sure. I look for attach rates. Because of the subjective nature of music and opinions this is an objective approach to it instead.

Say a million people hear two songs. Song A gets bought by 500k and Song B gets bought by 250k we can conclude that people like Song A more. That's very controlled environment with few variables.

Where it starts getting messy is when Song A gets exposed to 20mil people (top 40) but only 5% actually go out and buy it, that's still 1Mil sales. Song B on the otherhand gets exposed to 2M, and 25% buy it, that's only 500k sales.

I would conclude that people like Song B more than Song A despite the difference in raw sales numbers. There's so much more to it than that of course but I feel like my point has been made.
