dumb question, but i replaced my stock white fender p bass pickguard with the vintage red tortoise shell guard and it has the drill holes for a pickup cover and tugbar. I'm not interested in putting a pickup cover on so i dont care about those holes, but im thinking about installing the tugbar. However, I don't want to drill into the body; is there a way I can stick the tugbar over the holes without drilling? Bonus points if there is a way to easily remove & reattach if I decide to take it off later.

Sopa de macaco is just butthurt the jcm900 and silver jubilee have diode clipping that gives the tubes a bit of a compression boost. At higher levels the power tubes begin to overtake. Marshalls are meant to be used loud. Perhaps too loud to be used in a favela as it would rattle all the sheetmetal houses down.

You could put some shims under the tugbar so its easy to wedge it and pop it off it you want it off. Otherwise you could glue tiny magnets on there. There is not really anything other than glue or screws.

I heard that once in similar signing session bf and his gf was there, bf bought the latest album and gf bought something older which she didn't have. Dave refused to sign the old album just in front of all people. I've been reading about these stories and I can understand why they say he's a dick. My friend was at Kerry King's birthday party (I could have been there as well but decided to go home instead because I didn't want to be in their company as my friend is a faggot) and Kerry said that 'yeah that dude is just an asshole'. Now when I think about that missed opportunity I'm kicking myself that I didn't go. They were drinking until morning and stuff.

>>
>>74617441

>>
>>74614965
I have one. It's definitely a digital modeling amp, but it's a lot better and more versatile than the other amps it's competing against (Marshall Code, Fender Mustang, Blackstar ID Core, Vox VTX, etc). Clean channel is actually pretty good and the dirty tones sound good if you crank it, but it gets loud as fuck.
>>
>>74614965

Just got one. Kickass amp, the "crunch" channel sounds mighty close to my 5E3 Tweed Deluxe clone.

Really needs a more convenient way to do deep editing though, like a phone app (the Mustang GT40 has this but sounds like ass)
>>
>>74615192

Lol @ your "high action" and "heavy strings"

Try playing flatwound 12s on a 1952 National solidbody (with no adjustable truss rod) and you'll know what hard work is.
>>
>>74617561
Not if you think a diode has anything to do with being before or after the preamp.

It's just an electrical component like a resistor or capacitor. They get used in power supplies and all sorts of other electronic stuff, see wiki:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diode#Applications

Diode clipping is only one possible use of a diode and in fact some really iconic OD pedals have used all solid state components including diodes into op-amps for boosting output levels and providing clipping. See the ts808 and ts9 as an example.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ibanez_Tube_Screamer

Where they say:
"The overdrive is produced using two silicon diodes in anti-parallel arrangement into the negative feedback circuit of a operational amplifier ("op-amp") circuit, to produce soft, symmetrical distortion of the input waveform."

Meaning the diode in this case is being used to boost the signal for clipping by an op-amp. As in the diode helps accomplish the task of clipping as well as boosting.

It's okay if not everything is tube. Your guitar doesn't have any tubes inside of it. Tube televisions aren't made any more for a reason.

Digital modeling and solid state equipment is ridiculously good at this point, like to the point where if you go and dig into it you'd realize that a lot of audiophile equipment is basically just snake oil. Like, to the point where it's been shown over and over again that the human ear can't hear the difference.

I'm not trying to dissuade you from liking stuff and obviously you should play things you think sound good, but being sensible, actually learning a bit about how your gear works, and not falling victim to the mysticism and bullshit people try to spew at you about gear is pretty useful.
>>
>>74618566
Also worth mentioning I do legit think tube amps sound good enough to justify buying..

>>
>>74618566
The diodes sound kicks in after the preamp in my amp dingus why are you arguing against that?
>>
>>74620992
It's all math.
Either subdivide. e.g. 7/4 is just (4+3)/4, 9/4 is (3+3+3)/4 or (4+2+3)/4 and so on.
Or multiply. 4 measures of 5/4 are the same as 5 measures of 4/4 so you can loop past this point.
>>
>>74622676

Roll the volume knob on the guitar back a tad. It'll cut the harsh high end and sound great with overdrive then. Took me way too long to figure out how to operate a strat....

Unfortunately most bedroom sized tube amps are crummy sounding. My friend had a Vox AC4-12 and my Boss Katana kicked the crap out of it.

I mean yeah, you could play something other than metal on that, but why fucking bother?
I just don't see the point to the shape, it's kinda uncomfortable and annoying to store/buy cases for, but I guess it looks kinda cool if you're into metal.

That being said, I fucking love the Mockingbird shape and wish there was a Fender-style version of it with a nicer headstock and a thin, bolt-on neck

Bought this at a Guitar Center less than a week ago. Scalloped frets from the twelfth fret up, Seymour Duncan in the bridge, recessed Floyd that stayed in tune even when bending. Some guy told me it used to belong to his lead guitar player. It was fantastic.

A day after I bought it I was gonna put a fresh set of 10s on it. I put on the lowest strings first, the other four strings were locked. When I opened the middle lock, the string retainer was stripped out from the force of the strings. Turns out the strings on the guitar were 11s. I blocked the trem and switched the screws from the retainer with two from the back, which were slightly bigger, fixing the stripped holes. I restrung the whole thing and then tried to set the whole guitar up, since the Floyd was sitting back and the fret buzz was crazy. Eventually I realized I couldn't save the guitar unless I messed with the truss rod, which was inaccessible due to the string retainer, which I didn't want to mess with again. Plus, I tried using a flashlight to try to see were the truss rod socket was, and I couldn't see it.

I've decided to return it and buy a Charvel. It just doesn't play as well as it did before, and I don't think it's worth it to be nervous whenever I open the locking nut to tune. Pray this thing finds a new home.
>>
>>74624914
>too retarded to fix his guitar himself

Two days ago I asked for help to make a guitar routine. I made this, pls rate and improve
I.-Heating. chromatic scale.
II.-Scales. Minor pentatonic (five patterns) natural minor (three patterns).
III.-Powerchords/palm mute
IV.-Bendings
V.-Song: Ramones - Sheena is a punk rocker
VI.-Alternate picking and metronome
VII.-Chords and CAGED
VIII.-Fingerpick
IX.-Free
>>
>>74625229
what level are you at? So i can give you reccomendations
>>
>>74625103
The string retainer getting stripped freaked me out, since I've never really broken a guitar. I know that I probably sound like a tard to more experienced people, but I don't want to be sweating every time I want to mess with my guitar. It really did play great, but I haven't heard anything bad about Pro Mods.
>>
>>74625279
I wish I could tell you, It would also help me finding "my place". But I don't know. the best I can do is answer if it somehow helps you.
I'll try anyway.
-Problems with powerchords/palm mute. as I go faster, my shoulder gets stiffer and all my muscles tensed.
-Already know the five shapes of minor pentatonic.
-Theory: major and minor scale (aelian mode). how to make aug, dim, major and minor chords. also seventh chords.
-Better at fingerpiccking because I started with a classical guitar

I don't know what more. please ask if it helps. any advice will be welcome

Alright, I grew a pair and removed the string retainer. The truss rod is weird, it seems to be circular, and my Allen wrenches can't move it. What do I do?
>>
>>74625348
I think the problem you're encountering with the shoulder stiffness might stem from either bad posture or simply lack of endurance. I'd say get feedback from teachers or more experienced players to make sure your positioning is correct. And don't worry too much about speed to begin with, play slow with a metronome and build up slowly. In terms of scales i'd say learn all major and minor scale positions, it'll help you out massively in your progression as a songwiter and improviser.
>>
>>74625348
hopefully this helps
>>
>>74625435
I can tell you my posture is wrong and it can get right, as I have back problems (not a hunchback anyway) That's why I usually play for short periods of time.
My real problem is that I feel like I have a sea of information (books, tabs, resources...) but I don't know where to go, or how to get there, so I just swim in circles and drown in frustration.
>>
I kinda wish Mustaine would drop Dean and get some kind of BC Rich endorsement or something.
>>
Alright, I looked closer in the truss rod and I see a small hex hole. I stuck my Allen wrench in there, but I don't think it fits. However, the next size up is too big. Now what?
>>
>>74624542
Then look into replacing the pickups. Or tubes or speakers in your amp. But it starts at the pickups.

Yeah but what is it called? Also how do you keep your cables so neat and tight? Like what brand cable are you using there and whatnot.

Yeah, Korean. Picked it up new, $630.

Once upon a time I bought a brand new USA Charvel San Dimas. Loved it, played it hours a day and had tons of fun. I was younger.

Part of being younger was shit spending habits. My car bricked itself two weeks later and I begged the store to let me return it and got a new car. My Les Paul Studio and Am Std Tele are my grown up guitars I suppose. This is my Ode to the hair metal world I knew only too briefly.

Where can i get cheap guitar pedals?
>>
>>74630558
Joyo,Biyang, Moen etc.. they're all copies of more expensive pedals
>>
>>74630610
Do they sound as good as the branded ones?
>>
>>74630654
95% the same imo, sometimes you will get a bit more noise in the signal but its not a big deal if you're looking at cheap pedals anyway.
>>
>>74630391
yes thanks
>>
>>74630654
I got a couple Mooer distortion pedals and they broke. My EHX Metal Muff broke too, but it lasted a bit longer than the Mooers.
>>
>>74630654
>>74630712
I thought they sounded pretty good though.
>>
>>74630712
was it the switch? ehx muffs are cheap pieces of shit.
>>
>>74630756
I guess so. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It's anybody's guess. It's a great look at a gig when the crowd sees you angrily stomping the shit out of your broken pedal.

EHX has a year long warranty, I don't know how long ago you bought it though. If you don't want to open it up yourself the cost of replacing a switch isn't a lot.
