I think the binding looks amazing on certain colors. I think it fits the white finish perfectly, on some darker quilted maple finish it would probably clash. But yeah, I'd much prefer either dot inlays or none at all.

what are your must have pedals /gg/?

sure there's a bunch of articles and blog posts about this topic, but we're never afraid to beat a dead horse now are we?

for me, since my amp has built in fx

i'd say a good overdrive pedal and a wah pedal would fit my playing style, maybe i'd add some quirky pedal by earthquaker devices just to have a bit of zest

reverb for large church/cave sounds , phaser or flange for movement, looper for layering, ebow for sustaining notes, metal rods in between the strings for weird sounds

i use the ditto looper. really cheap and really easy to use. stores your loops and easy undo/redo. only problem is it only has 5 min of loop time, so it might not be the best if you're doing some crazy long prog shit

Hey /gg/, wanted some help picking out a simple and versatile amp and maybe a pedal or two? Budget around 200-300.

On a side note - anyone with wrist injuries?
I want to start playing again - haven't played since i fucked my left wrist over in a motorcycle accident (I have a click and can manually move ligaments, bones, broken shit in it what have you) but besides that, It's been well over a year....

Preferred playstyle would be anything from math rock sounds, to metal but mostly looking for clean sounds.

My last 5 months of practise have only just paid off yesterday. My outside pick feels like an inside pick and my slant pause is almost unnoticeable. Now I have to practise harder so I don't lose my gains.

Tip: Attack your weakness!
>>
>>74598176
chorus, delay, and reverb along with slight whammy bar use of you have one, but none of those are a necessity
>>
Why are acousticfags so lame
>>
>>74603248
negro... start slowly, only you know your wrist and how it will work. i stopped playing for 10 years and picked up guitar again 6 months ago. for first 4 months i had pain on my thumb and somewhere else and i never had any issues before even back then when i started to play as a teenager. but the pain went away slowly. just keep playing and try to stretch your hands as well. but you need to limit the amount of stuff you do at first.

5 is fine, it's the same width as a regular guitar, I never got why people say it's bad practice to start on 5, as long as you learn proper muting technique it's fine.

If I were a bassist I'd start with 5 as well. Doesn't make any reason to limit your playing only to 4 strings but that depends what music you actually play.

/gg/, i need a recommendation.

i've fallen in love with guitars which are iconic, like willie nelson's trigger. the idea of owning a guitar for decades upon decades that molds itself with me is something i want in my life.

i have a few different things i'm looking for. i want it to be smaller bodied- dreadnought hurts the shoulder on my picking hand side. it needs to have a cutaway. it obviously needs to be solid top without a thick poly finish. i'd prefer it not to be preowned. i'd be willing to pay almost any amount for this guitar. thick necks aren't my preference but not a deal breaker.

any recommendations? i don't like gibson very much, their acoustics sound too thin to me. but maybe it was just the specific one i played. though i heard another one from an artist i liked and i also thought that one sounded like shit.

Martin OMC-15ME?

I just bought the 00015 (see >>74605445 ) which is the 000 size equivalent. Solid mahogany body with rosewood bridge, fingerboard and headstock. Has a satin finish, no gloss anywhere. Abalone diamonds on fingerboard and ebony bridge pins but otherwise very understated. Sounds fucking amazing and will last years, my one is second hand from 2014 and there's barely a a scratch on it. Higher quality hardware (properly placed bridge, tuners) made of better quality metal that doesn't wear as easily and is machined more accurately, better electronics (higher quality pickups, volume and tone pots aren't shitty and loose or crackly, cavities are shielded, soldering is quality work that doesn't look like some scorched earth battlefield), wood (accurately measured and cut, no loose neck joint) of a quality that is resistant to warping due to temperature and humidity. Also the material the nut is made out of and how it is cut.

And then there's fancy stuff that doesn't have to do with sound or how the instrument plays or how durable it is, like bindings, finishes, and fancy inlays and shart.

some parts are easy, some are hard.

like asking 'is acoustic guitar easy to play?' yea its pretty easy to strum some chords and keep time, but if you want to do anything that could impress other musicians you will need to practice.

that being said, i'm primarily a pedal steel guitar player. but the psg is heavy as fuck so i picked up banjo so i could make use of my fingerpickin and still get out to casual jams easily.

Would you recommend a 4, 5, or 6 string? I'd mainly be trying to play some serious hillbilly backwoods shit. 6 sting seems to just be a guitar.

It's like any other Korean made guitar. If you are lucky that it stays in tune you will still probably need to change the pickups for something better. It's really easy to see how Dean jumped on the 8 string bandwagon now that they are bit more than a niche. Same thing with Ibanez etc. It doesn't matter as each and every one of the guitars are made in Korean sweatshop.

you'll need one with a resonator too if youre playing with more than one other person

yes most country/bluegrass is just 1 4 5 (or sometimes dom 5) with the occasional -6 so the basics are pretty easy. equivalent difficulty to strumming cowboy chords on a guitar imo
