Name 5 Electronic Musicians you have listened to this past week, and I will determine if you are a plebian or a patrician.
I only listen to audio found on the in-store display devices at the apple store
Once a month I'll go to an apple store and collect the audio from the display devices. They're usually just videos taken by customers, but every once in a while I'll get a clean recording through the recording app. I'll send the vidoes or audio to myself.
Once I get home I'll make several .WAV files. Some of just the pure audio and some that are arranged in a sound collage with all the audio layered over each other.
the fact that you can even name 5 unique bleep bloop """musicians""" you listened to in the past week shows you're a pleb
if you can't come up with 5 names you're probably a patrician
Name 5 String Musicians you have listened to this past week, and I will determine if you are a plebian or a patrician.
According to many morons from this thread, pleb = popular. Since when the fucking Autechre is pleb?
Go and listen to your obscure shit that nobody cares and leave the real fans of electronic music to judge the artists mentioned.
>I'm just trying to make people listen to true electronic music and not some shit that gets old after a day.
this doesn't work if you just call people pleb without giving them criticism or new artists to listen to you masterbaiter
>Electronic music is music that employs electronic musical instruments and electronic music technology in its production, an electronic musician being a musician who composes and/or performs such music. In general a distinction can be made between sound produced using electromechanical means and that produced using electronic technology.
>An electronic musical instrument is a musical instrument that produces sound using electronics. Such an instrument sounds by outputting an electrical audio signal that ultimately drives a loudspeaker.
yes, it's true that we are the best-looking fanbase out of any other artist
pic related it's your favorite album, I bet the cover art really speaks to you

not super familiar with most of those tbqh
very basic but all other thank skrillex are good
skrill should stick to being a pop producer at this point
basic but alright
idg why people are answering seriously lol, op has a pretty basic and predictable criterion
5 electroacoustic or modern classical artists or any rym-core = patrician
anything remotely popular or god forbid danceable = pleb
Music made mainly with synths, samplers, drum machines, other electronic devices. This music has a prominent kind of electronic sound.
I only listen to music by friends or things I make myself.
I don't ever publish work because it's too much for any public audience
We only create harsh noise wall from live recordings of crimes we commit

'Popular' is literally the definition of 'plebian.' The Plebians were the common people of ancient Rome, while the Patricians were the nobility. So the word 'plebian' is used by egotists as a stupid insult to say that popular music is bad, even though it is not necessarily so.
It been a much less than usually musical week for me. Evidently Sertraline dampens my music drive about as much as it does on my sex drive. Mostly I was just testing a Firefox download add-on, comparing codecs, manually updating FFMPEG, that sort of thing. (It's almost a tie between AAC and Opus when it comes to the lossy ones, and no one has yet invented a lossless one sufficiently more efficient than FLAC to justify making it a new archive standard.) As for the difference between pleb and patrician I never give it any thought, other than to note that "majestic" is an adjective that rarely applies to music liked people who have always lived in fear, whether or not the cause is penury.
he's innovative in additive synthesis and that's about it. 0pn is far superior compositionally and conceptually
that being said i really liked the harpsichord-esque tracks off mutant tho
I know it's become a meme, but Mutant really is made almost entirely of sculpture synth presets, so. I don't really get the whole "innovative engineering" thing with Arca (for the record I don't like OPN either)
>0pn is far superior compositionally and conceptually
his compositions are formulaic as fuck I don't know why people keep saying this. he has been making the same album over and over and giving it a different costume for ages now.
You could switch tracks from GOD with a recent Han Zimmer score and no one would notice the difference, but everyone hates on Han Zimmer's cheesy shit.
I have not seen any evidence of this and I don't have a Mac to be able to test it myself. It could be true but also false because Ive been able to replicate the some sounds on Mutant on my own through different processes. would like to see someone show it in a video if they think he is using sculpture synth presets.
>the amount of bands being described as electronic musicians

The true patrician answer.
Electronic music isn't even real music. It's funny how people are quick to defend this yet can think of no valid arguments. It ends up boiling down to "Come on, it's 2015!" logic.
How can you disregard an entire medium that is only opening doors for the future of music? Digital production hardware and software is allowing musicians to create nearly any sound conceivable, which is fucking awesome. Yes, most the best known electronic music is trash, but neglecting one of the most varied musical genres of all time simply based on its medium is ultimately your loss
Its not my fault that electronic reached its epiphany as soon as it was introduced, and people comepletely ignore it. As soon as modern artists realize that Kraftwerk is to electronic, what the Beatles are to rock, modern electronic genres across the board will evolve.
Go listen to the backing tracks of old Tim McGraw songs and git some taste shitlord. You think this is a fucking joke, Kraftwerk is the epitome of any electronic music that will ever exist and until subhuman scum like you realize this, electronic music will forever be stuck in this shitty limbo, unable to evolve as a genre.
>justin martin/catz n dogz
But even egotism comes in different degrees and kinds. I am such a massive egotist that I abide by my own likes and dislikes in complete disregard to whether or not something is popular. For instance, I like music that's more airborne than earthy, or more nautical than landbound. So in the same month I can be found listening to Janet Jackson, Elliott Carter, Acid Horse, Maurizio, Don Slepian, Debussy, from anything that almost no one has heard of to anything that everyone has, provided ONLY that it satisfies the escapist imagination without restraint or apology.
Birdy Nam Nam
I actually have been listening to some electronic albums on shuffle today, how's this?
