they can propagate it, but what help does that bring besides spreading a contextless message further and further from what made it unique, diluting it to the point where the context doesn't even matter (aka just like house is right now) when the context of House was what was originally important?

Possibly.

House doesn't wish to preserve racism and discrimination, but to make sure the point that it happens day in day out to people isn't forgotten. Maybe in a world where (however impossibly) there is no such thing as discrimination, maybe that context will be erased, misunderstood, and forgotten in time.

Okay, I got a little vibe from you that said that white cis people can't appreciate or make house to its core because they are privileged in your earlier posts.
But it seems that you're saying that this message can be universally brought over to anyone just to bring the injustice forward?

How could white people not recognise this type of oppression and translate it into music, just because they aren't a minority themselves?

Well I personally don't think you have to be non-white-cis to appreciate House or understand it or even enjoy it, but I think it's pretty undeniable that when you, as distanced from that group, try to make House with the same potency and meaning, something is lost. Maybe it's not a big something, maybe it can still be a good record; but the more that's lost, the more you approach the faceless, meaningless, messageless crap you hear everywhere.
And even if you're a white-cis guy who is a walking dictionary of House history and expression, can you really still preserve what House is really about if you don't experience it first hand? You can get pretty close maybe, but how many white-cis artists are that?

I don't think white-cis people can't make good house, or meaningful House. But I don't think it can be as true to the context of House inherently, and it's a slippery slope the further you get from that.

I see your point. That's completely understandable.

But then, how do you feel about artists like MCDE, for example? He's a white german dude who makes great tunes, I wouldn't consider it anything like ladhouse brohouse etc...

Also, I feel like the main audience of the "good" type of house these last years, tend to be middle class white dudes. Excluding the older generation ofc.

I haven't listened to too much MCDE, just a couple EPs here and there. Not for any particular reason, I just haven't. But I would definitely say he's got more going in his music, sonically and maybe thematically though its hard to extract some themes out of a 12" of bangers and I wouldn't know, than most of what is paraded as House.

And the largest audience for dance music has pretty much always been Europeans, often white trendy and financially well off. There's some reasons for that I think, but that's a whole nother conversation.

>>49851662
the question is why would he? Why would he express being discriminated by using the ideas of the group of people discriminating him, but reversed? And don't say "white rappers," I think that's pretty different and that you'd be pretty hard pressed to find a white rapper who grew up being hated by the black community and still pursued rapping.

>>Wouldn't you agree that house and dance music in general was much more widely embraced in western europe compared to america because they were largely more tolerant and didn't make such a big deal out of the whole gay and black thing?
Pretty much, yes.

Dance music was lost on America when Disco rolled around. Why? Because Disco was for gays and blacks and no one else, until a certain movie and group came through and said "hey wait it can be for us white folk too!!!" Because of the racist and homophobic reaction to Disco, I don't think dance music, (with a message and context, not just bastardized midrange trance synths over a pop track) can ever be as big in America outside of the circles that create it as it is in Europe.

Not sure what my top 5 vocal Grime tracks would be. Instrumentals would be:
DJ Mondie - Straight
Ruff Sqwad - Pied Piper
Plasticman - Venom
Wiley - Eskimo 3
Danny Weed - Creeper

DJ Code's label Subtle Audio is one of the most interesting D&B labels around.
Naphta has put out some good Jungle/experimental shit.
Bassbin is an Irish D&B label which full of amazing tracks (not sure if Breakage is Irish or not, don't think he is though).

And of course, the literal GOAT >>49856999. Honestly only Klute and Omni Trio are better producers than Calibre.

good list

i've never really thought creeper was that good though. i basically like every other classic beat but creeper just doesn't get me gassed when people spit over it compared to basically everything else on your list.

i sent my friend a top ten recently as well so i have a list here of my own personal ones

>Skepta - Spaceship
>Ruff Sqwad - Down
>Big ED - Frontline
>Davinche - Eyez on you
>Footsie - Showerman Time
>Wiley - Ice Pole Remix
>Young Guns Crew - Countdown Riddim
>Dj Wonder - What
>DJ Eastwood - You Aint Ready (Clash Remix)
>Dizzee Rascal - Vexed

Honourable Mentions:
>J sweet - Rodent
>Jammer - Fire Hydrant
>Kamikaze - Ghetto Kyote
>Skepta - Thuggish Ruggish

you got favourite MC's? also what do you think of the "nu-grime" instrumentals coming out? your taste seems similar to mine and im not too huge on them personally.
>>
>>49857140
So it seems Ireland has a good DnB scene.

I never actually knew / noticed this before
>>
>>49857160
If was going to complete a top 10 I would add on:
Wiley - Igloo
Skepta - Hench (Remix)
Footsie - Scars 2
Big ED - Frontline
Dizzee Rascal - Go

And honourable mentions for Bigshot - Stomp and obviously Pulse X.

My favourite MCs are probably:
Esco (GOAT)
Riko Dan
Killa P
Rapid
Castro Saint
Crazy Titch
Ghetto
Flirta D
D Double E/Footsie
G-Man (literaly better than everyone in Slew Dem with the exception of Esco)
Prez T (better than everyone in Meridian, Bloodline and Boy Better Know).
Roachee
R.A
Phantom

Former GOAT tier MCs are Dizze. Wiley, Skepta, Kano, the standard selection really.

As for the new Grime, I really like it. It doesn't interest me as much as some of the old school shit but Kahn & Neek regularly kill it, and I like what I hear from Visionist, Slackk (new album was a bit average), Kowloon, Wen (Signals was great), Rabit, Murlo, JT The Goon, Mumdance etc. This might be my favourite remix of the year:

The following alterations were recommended for that list and I still need to make them.

What needs adding/removing. Some opinions so far:
>I would add JME - Famous? and Kano - Home sweet home and Devlin - Tales for the Crypt to it. For instrumentals grime 2.0. And for 12": Kamikaze - Ghetto kyote, Rebound X – Land Of X, Darq E Freaker - Cherryade and VA - Quadrant EP, Duppy and next hype

>add some sublow black ops

p jam - real
alias - gladiator/fight club
j sweet - gutter alias remix
iron soul - heavens reject ep
imp batch - gype riddim/crazy titch - singalong
ruff sqwad - xtra
dj dred d - invasion
jon e cash - spanish fly
bionics - electro (live on air when crazy titch and dizzee kicked off)
dj target - poltergeist
grime street - fruity loops workshop

TFG is alright and all but him being a babby greatly affects what he likes. For example he can tolerate German Whip far better than I can and he still insists on trying to get me to believe that JME is better than just average.

>>49857617
I did that today several times when I listened to DJ Roc - Take Em Out The Circle, G.E.T.O. DJz, Inc - Beyond The Mix Vol. 1 (which had far more House on it than I expected) and Sheen & Matt Shadetek - Heavy Meckle.
