Min Yoongi
Question for 20 year olds: do you associate your childhood more closely with early 2000s music like Gorillaz and Daft Punk? Or 2006-2009 music like Justin Bieber and Hannah Montana?
http://www.strawpoll.me/12877970/
Late 2000's to me is not pop music, to me its the peak of indie rock like vampire weekend, lcd soundsystem, mgmt, arcade fire.
Anyways, the early 2000's it reminds me of the strokes, the white stripes, arctic monkeys, rock was still culturally relevant.
And of course there was emo, mcr, panic at the disco, fall out boy.
The early 2000's was also the twilight of pop punk, green day, sum 41, blink 182, etc.
Also everyone forgets nu metal, deftones, korn, system of a down, slipknot.
All that pop garbage i do not associate with my life because i never listened to it
Oh, there was also a lot of garbage rock the hip people would like to forget, like drowning pool, disturbed, hoobastank, linken park, incubus.
Really rock music was a thing and i miss it, and i hate this garbage popatmist world.
1997 here
I identify with both to a pretty large extent. I think people born in our year specifically were old enough to remember things from both lists
>>72574977
Yeah definitely
What's the deal with pic related? Is it genuinely good? Is it trash? Why is it so polarizing?
>>72574501
>Why is it so polarizing?
Because it's prog metal. That easy.
I listened to the first track and I hated it.
That's all I have to say about it.
>>72574501
it is literally one of the only metal albums I actually like
Is anything before Wolf worth listening to or is it all edgy garbage? He's become the only rapper I really like besides Kanye, great production and self-loathing introspective lyrics.
He's shit and Kanye is good but overrated.
Now about your question, if you liked Wolf you'd like the others, just as good/bad.
Not really but Seven, French!, and Window are pretty decent/above average tracks in my opininon. The latter is a severely underrated posse cut.

bastard is amazing
Did anyone else purchase FrankJavCee's Qrates pressing of Volume One? If so, what did you think of the music/quality of the pressing?

Frank is pretty self aware. I doubt he thinks he's "better than other nerds".
>>72574456
I honestly love frank. I wanted to get this.
This would've been hip-hop album of the decade if all the songs were as good as Real Friends, No More Parties in LA and Saint Pablo. Especially the latter.
Discuss
No it wouldn't
You're letting nostalgia and reputation get in the way of judging objective quality. Out of those three songs, only Real Friends can hold up next to any of Kanye's preezus releases. Barely. The raps are way worse than anything he's ever done, and thats coming from a guy that loves Graduation. The beats are BORING- the worst crime kanye could commit. This decade has seen far better.
more like especially the former
I kind of agree

That's pretty goddamn awful, but I've heard worse. Like, at least you can lift to it or something. But yeah that blows
The point of these threads is to encourage people to look for new and interesting music. We do this by listening to and ideally discussing albums we've never heard before. Many of us already listen to new music daily, these people are in it to venture "out of their comfort zone" by listening to albums they otherwise wouldn't have, or just to have a good time.

>Margo Guryan - Take a Picture
This had a super strong opener and a super strong finisher, but everything in between just fell flat. Nothing else really stood out to me as different, and it just kinda bored me. Too bad, because if every song was as good as the first and last, this would be at least a 3.5
>Keiji Haino - I Said, This is the Son of Nihilism
Decided to try one of Keiji's solo albums for his bday and since I've been in the mood for Fushitsusha and related lately, and holy shit this was good. There seems to be several parts to this song, and they all kick ass, whether its the waves of noise or the quiet noodling. Keiji's vocals are so strained and passionate, and his guitar playing is all around awesome. I'll definitely be digging deeper very soon.

Wack
I know there are people who empathize with me here, this is not an album that has aged well (same goes for most post-punk, new wave, etc. in general.) The bare-bones instrumentals with that annoying voice is the aesthetic that is repeated on each song; and the lyrics are so similar that I basically feel like I'm listening to the same song over and over again.
I've noticed that this style, which JD certainly helped pioneer and which other bands certainly emulated, is not particularly liked by regular people these days. If you're young, you're considered edgy as fuck or just a hipster; the people who still fuck with Joy Division are generally the sorts who think they're much deeper or smarter than your average guy (gets real old), but they aren't because Joy Division is a pretty superficial band almost by principle. If you're an older person and still listening to it I feel like lots of things come into question.
It's because we've moved on, this is not the sort of music that kids need to be discovering. That being said, the lyrics are well crafted by a very sick and introspective mind, I'd just rather spend my time elsewhere.
i hate normies
OP's a fucking douchebag.
Closer is still a stone cold classic even today, no matter how many idiots only wear JD shirts because "they look cool".
