How did Tzuyu become the most popular member in the #1 kpop girl group (TWICE) in both Korea & Japan without having a full knowledge of the Korean language and not knowing a single word of Japanese?
What is her special ability in this?

They badly bungled allegations of rape against lead singer Ben Hopkins, right before they were to release their second album, and it cratered them pretty quickly. Their music was stripped from virtually every streaming service, and it was only in late June/early July that they got distribution rights back for Ugly Cherries. Pageant is still in limbo for the time being.
And when I say badly handled, it was extremely quick how everything went down. Short and sweet of it is that Liv, the other one, claimed to be hearing about this stuff for the first time and offered to setup an inbox (?) for victims to mail in (??) and get it mediated between Hopkins and those in question (???) This backfires spectacularly when other bands and people emerge saying "we've been telling you for months that Hopkins is a predator and a potential rapist, why are you claiming contrary?" That put them in a real bad position.
In less than a week, they were virtually erased, got their music stripped off of platforms, their record label dropped them like a stone, offered full refunds for their second album, their main manager left saying he was no longer comfortable working with them, and they are quickly fading into obscurity.
Shame, really. They had some nice songs, and I thought they seemed pretty alright. Nothing too special, but not exactly mold fitting either.
How exactly do you apply music theory to know is a piece of music is objectively good or not?
People on /mu/ act like their hot shit because they know theory, but I never actually see them use it to justify their taste. I don't know what music analysis is supposed to look like.
People tell me I have to know theory to have good taste, and I'm learning, and it is just of neat to know how it all works, but it doesn't really change how I'm listening at all. I don't know how knowing "Oh they're playing a C note" is supposed to somehow get me better taste.
all music theory does is attempt to produce a blueprint of music
asking a theoryfag for the resonance value of death grips is like asking a geneticist for the meaning of life

Don't worry...they don't know either. "Learn music theory" is a cruel patrician trick to fool plebeians into learning something they'd otherwise have no use for. Same as "Start with the Greeks", or "Start with the French New wave"

I hope you's are ready for /mu/chellapaloozarydingdong Summer 2017
We kick off on Friday, 3PM EST
>/mu/chella is a week-long event where we discuss and listenalong to various albums. As well as the album stream hosted on mutantradio.org, we sometimes include interviews and guests on the radio, as well as call-ins. We usually chat in IRC or our regular threads, but discussion isn't limited to just the music we're listening to, and we generally just have fun with discovering new stuff or whatever happens to be going on in the chats
As always, there will be a MEGA link with each of the lineup's albums posted on the day.

What is the least "cool" music that you enjoy?
>Enjoying music
Pure plebbery. I listen purely as research
I fucking love this corny ass dad rock album.
Todd Rundgren's production is stellar and the Roy Bittan piano work and Mighty Max drumming is as good as anything they did for Bruce. The arrangements are so epic, it's just a big dumb cheesy rock n roll opera.
