everyone thought at the time she would be the admired one of the mane 6 but she feels awkward with a really big social group.
She has Twilight as her mentor because she's the most similar one to have experienced what Starlight thinks is her own problem.

all of this makes sense.She prefers individual social interactions rather than big groups and the only way to discover herself is by having her own experiences and circumstances.

Her main objective to stay with Twilight isn't how to get it right(like the rest of the character morals) but how not to fuck up completely while learning with others.

If you're talking about defending her from the people who hate her, I used to. Literally non stop. I realized that nothing I say to them will make them stop hating her. All they do is spout the same garbage arguments no matter how many times you refute them. There is no point in trying and wasting my time with them.
Plus, the hate is literally everywhere. I don't have the time or energy to defend her from all of it. But seeing it and not doing anything about it makes me feel terrible. And so I gave up a long time ago and stopped browsing /mlp/ for most part in order to stay away from the hate for her, because it was killing me. I am only here for this thread.

What do you think the end game is for Starlight?
It's easy to say she'll just be a princess with that high raw magic and Twilight training her, but what else could be in store for her instead? If she fails to become a princess, or just can't become one for whatever reason, then will she just be stuck as what Twilight was to Celestia except with Starlight instead? It's not correct to compare it with Twilight from the position of the princess title itself, there can't be two princesses of friendship so Starlight would embody something else entirely, having her own path to it and achieving it in a different way than Twilight. We look at her possible ascension from the perspective of Twilight's and say "nah, it's not the same", but maybe they aim for something else entirely that would lead to it?

For you maybe, for them it's probably not that big of a deal. They've been pushing Starlight agressively and made sure she always gets a positive spotlight, making her a princess might just be the next step in solidifying her position. People have been eating variations of her basic "using magic is wrong but it's still ok" plot and they seem to be willing to eat more, do you think Hasbro cares enough about deepening her character if they've been pushing this one lesson? I think they care more about making sure she's "good", and what can highlight this more than becoming a princess? I hope this is not the case but you can't just dismiss the possibility completely.

The plot reminded me a little bit of The Cutie Remark but in reverse,like they are destroying a parallel universe each time the mirror breaks.Glimmer applies that same moral here just like Sunset did to Midnight in FG.
