I liked season 6, actually. Going through the episode list, most of the episodes weren't bad in my opinion. It's just how the season was structured (bad episodes and good episodes) was ass and made the season look worse than it is.
I absolutely didn't like season 7 until now. Episode 1 was okay, I found episode 4 funny but it's not an episode I'd rewatch, and episode 10 was okay, but those 2 new episodes are amazing, and I hope for more episodes like this in the future.

There are numerous good episodes in all seasons, or, well, most of them. Besides, expectations may be expressed beneath different narrative altars. Some may want to see more teenage oriented content, others more adult, and then we have those that doesn't care so they may enjoy the ride.

After season 2 I think the show have been very shaky, and they've mistreated the depiction of the characters numerous times. Especially how they turned RD into the thunder cunt of the group or how they on whims turn characters into one-trait individuals to carry the narrative (Like AJ in Honest Apple), did lower my opinion of the writers and the future of the show didn't look good.

Fucking hell, I got likw 10 minutes in until I started crying, and then I couldn't stop. I'm so happy with how this episode went. I'm so glad the show's still good.

Fuck. I'm one of the people who thought season 6 was palatable and just understood that the horrible episodes were just a result of new writers. Now that Joanna and Kristine are running the show, they seem to have micromanaged the editing of every single episode where there's endless continuity and consistent characterization. Imagine if they had been able to manage stuff like 28 Pranks Later, Cart Before the Ponies, and especially an episode about Rainbow Dash getting into the Wonderbolts? Haber and Vogel add nothing to the show but soulless spectacle with no respect for what came before it.

Before season 7 I didn't mind it because I had just accepted it for what it is, but now it's even easier to see that Haber didn't put any effort at all into the story editing beyond his and Vogel's own episodes. They're both coming back to head season 8 and I can only pray that Nick Confalone has more input than last season because I can see season 8 being a huge letdown after we got a taste of Joanna and Kristine's version of MLP.

It was very rewarding, I was happy for Flutters. I also loved her characterization, in previous episodes it was almost like Fluttershy was either shy or a bitch, but in FLI she was assertive being the same old Fluttershy. Have you list your ability to reason? For the past 6 seasons of the show, the Apples have some nothing but stress the importance of family and how much being together means to them, which makes the absence of the Apple parents that much more glaring.

For them to be absent from their children's lives after all this time, there has to be a very clear reason for it. Either they can't be present, or they choose not to be. The show has given us zero indication that their parents abandoned them, so I can confidently rule or the latter. That means, for whatever reason, they are currently unable to be in their children's lives. That doesn't necessarily mean they HAVE to be dead, but there aren't many other possibilities, and very few that could've gone unaddressed for this long. Them being dead is by far the most probable scenario, especially if the show never offers an alternative to consider.

Discordant Harmony was exactly the portrayal of him that I love the most. Fluttershy is the only one that enjoys his chaos, everyone else basically just wants him neutered. That was the impression I got in KCaFO. Fluttershy continuing to be the only one he really feels comfortable with and the only one that doesn't just put up with him felt reinforced by Tirek, and now again we see both of those turned up to the max. Not only do we see him being bothered by most other ponies (PP aside) but we see that he literally cannot exist without chaos. It always seemed fucked up to me that this being that is literally chaos incarnate was being told to not do the only thing he knows to do or else he'll be turned back to stone. I loved Tirek because I was waiting for some sort of acknowledgment by the writers that Discord really doesn't have any reason beyond Fluttershy to be listening to them and they haven't been treating him as a friend in the slightest so I'm glad this episode continued a long that line of him not just throwing away his chaos and that being literally who he is.

much like anything, you need context and build up to make anything satisfying. If it skipped straight to the end with Fluttershy, it wouldn't be as memorable. The scenes in between are what given the ending meaning. You don't start a joke and go straight to the punchline.

Seeing how other ponies treat him, how he rationalizes, and why he arrived at the point he did at the end was what made the ending good. It wasn't Discord gags BECAUSE all of the scenes in the middle served to explain his character.

I've seen this a few times and I never understand it. People complain about an episode being "epic funny joke" while dismissing the bulk of the episode besides the start and end when the middle are scenes picked specifically to add emotional impact and context to the end.
