I think that's what they were trying to show, yeah. It had to have been frustrating seeing magic show up occasionally but not have any real control over it. Might be some interesting conflicts in the future between Sunset and characters that don't want to see the human world get more magic (since the last bit of LoE implied that the amount of magic in the human world is increasing). Also interesting is what consequences that magic might have, since it seems to corrupt/be corrupted by humans relatively easily.

Her pony form is one step above "muh snowflake OC donut steel" and that's only because it's a canon design. Her pony design is the same as those OCs that take one of the main characters, colour swap them then change a few minor details so they can shout "It isn't a recolour she's my special and unique OC".

Her pony model is basically a recolour of Rarity with some minor tweaks. Lets start with the front part of the mane; it goes up, peaks then curls inwards before flicking out. Rarity's flicks up slightly and out to the side and they slightly changed it so it drops down for Sunny. Now for the back part of the mane; it curls round their neck then curls a little more in another direction, Rarity's goes out Sunny's goes in. Finally the tail; they both bump up then curl, the only difference is that Sunset has one curl where Rarity has multiple. The Sunset model also has the definition lines removed from all the hair and has the squiggle MS painted in to further validate the "she's different guys" claim.

If you prefer her pony design that's fine, it's you opinion and you're entitled to it but if you say it's her best form you're factually wrong, unless you support autistic recolour OCs.

The MLP comics are barely consider canon by posting comics from another series entirely you may as well be posting fan art. If that was from a MLP one there'd be some grounding to your point but in this case there isn't any what so ever.
I do agree about designing different views/unique models though. I suspect f they had the time and budget every character would have a full, unique model but it's as >>29756204 says with it being easy and cheaperto reuse rather than make a new model that'll be used far less than a one shot/pony of the week character.
Still as she's a Rarity recolour it could be said she's one of the most attractive in universe characters seeing as Rarity is considered this.

I don't think so. My reasoning; look at the comics the art is vastly different depending on the artist and not just the artist putting their touch to it, some of it is down right hideous. I think if they had acres to character sheets and models it'd be a lot more consistent across the different artists; I'd bet they have reference shots from the show and it's up to them to fill in the blanks.

You can't be wrong about an opinion, dumbass.
They most likely did use Rarity's mane for the base structure of her mane, but they altered the ends giving it a more wild and natural look and the texture makes it seem less formal than Rarity's fully straight mane.

Many ponies are recolors of mane 6 Characters like Daring Do and Moondancer but still look better than the original character.
Sunset's mane style, while not unique, is still amazingly sexy and beautiful and differentiates from Rarity's by much more than other Characters that are recolors.
Her colors are a very exotic color scheme that go really well with her mane design and like I stated before, the texturing of her mane with these colors give it a more natural, untamed look compared to Rarity's neatly combed and maintained mane. Sunset's mane has plenty of changes that greatly differentiate it from its base inspiration.
Reusing Character models isn't a bad thing especially when they make it so different from the base.

Just because something isn't completely original, doesn't mean it's bad.
DOTA2 and LoL are just rip-offs of a Warcraft map editor game and Warcraft's universe itself is a ripoff of Lord of the Rings. And those are all still great games.

The thing about Daring Do and Moondance is they are meant to look the same; Daring because when she was introduced it was basically Dash's fantasy and Moondancer was meant to be Twilight but with the magic of friendship.

I agree with you on colour though the FG muted version looks better in my opinion and how the lack of definition gives her the more untamed look which suits her. But saying that she has loads of changes and they're greatly different is off the money. At the end of the day she's a fairly obvious recolour with a few touch ups so it isn't identical (I also agree that it isn't a bad thing seeing as it's a damn good one) but saying her pony form is unique is just plain wrong and saying otherwise makes us look pretty delusional inb4 where do you think you are.

Each of the mane 6 have a different eye design. Many have different eye outlines. Post a character that has her eye outlines.

Her design isn't unique, but her coloring is. Her and Sunburst are the only ones with a warm color scheme.
