"Can you get me something sharp, something dull, something heavy and something rusty, ma'am?" - you inquired.
"Not the creative type, eh?" - pegasus mare grinned.
"Well, I doubt that you'll give me an access to every last one tool in your disposal, plus I still have my magic. I find that it would be more rational to rely on it, instead of more specialized equipment."
"You may be surprised, but you actually have every last one tool in your disposal." - her grin became even wider - "She is useless to us, why should we care about what will happen to her? She is probably going to be executed anyway - too dangerous to put in the POW camps."
"Uh, well, good to hear." - you cracked a smile in reply.
"All right, I'll get going then. Local warden will have the required tools, if you'll ever need something more - feel free to ask him. Farewell then." - she turned around and prepared to leave.
"A question, ma'am?" - Arcane stepped forward.
"What bothers you, hmm?"
"Uh, I just wondered - how did you manage to stay hidden in the colonel's room? The security systems..."
"...will never react on the members of Her Majesty's secret service. We're the only ponies that are allowed to use certain spells without detection - well, also Her Grace and generals of course. Gotta do the counterintelligence thing somehow, you know?"
"Oh, I see. Thanks, ma'am." - Arcane muttered and pegasus mare walked deeper inside the prison wing, while you trotted back to your new housing.

"So, we have two questions up for discussion now." - announced Gust, as soon as your group entered the room, where Last Word was waiting for you - "First - if any of you - except Arcane, who is confirmed bookworm - have any plans for the remainder of the day, and second - who will sleep where?"

Your actions?
>>
Arcane can sleep with Word You can sleep with me.

I doubt I will learn anything more useful from my book before the mission so I will go back to it when we get back. I am tempted to find some info on the prison but I fear that may draw attention.

Actually Gust I would not be surprised if they are abusing the prisoners there I may need you to give me some pointers in case we need to do the same to avoid blowing our cover.
>>
>>29706502
Fuck meant to quote
>>29706401
>>
>>29706502
Wait no don't way pointers that might offend her. Just ask her to help you practice.
>>
>>29706510
*don't say pointers
>>
>>29706401
If there's a spare room I guess Word can have it? If there is then she can bunk with whoever she wants.
>>
>>29706529
We were told it was 2 to a room remember.
>>
>>29706502
>"She is useless to us, why should we care about what will happen to her? She is probably going to be executed anyway - too dangerous to put in the POW camps."
There's nothing more we can gather from this mare that the Alef's haven't already obtained. The only use of doing this is to practice torture, which I might add is immoral. More so when it is not necessary.
>>
>>29706401
If Word wants her own room, would Gust and Arcane mind if we all bunked in the same room? No no that's too small. One of us will have to share a room with Word. Who does Word want to bunk with?
>>
>>29706533
I would rather we just bucked up and did our jobs. After all these are not innocent people we are dealing with here.
>>
>>29706539
She will probably chose us.

Do you really wanna get cockblocked anon. We have not had any intimacy with our marefriend since the whole ship plans debacle.
>>
>>29706546
*do. Buck up and do our job.
What do you think is our job at the moment? And take a moment to look at this if you're not too busy.
https://www.anonpone.com/dhour/29687166#navbar
>"After that, you can try to interrogate her if you feel like you need some practice. We got all the useful intel from her associates, but it's not neccessary to tell her about it, don't you think?" - she grinned - "Let her feel like a hero."

What are your thoughts after reading this post anon?
>>
>>29706533
Well like the Alef said it also allows her to feel like a hero for not talking. So in a way we are doing her a favor.
>>
>>29706561
>What do you think is our job at the moment
To prepare in any way possible for the mission.
>>
>>29706555
Ha! That's, really funny. Define intimacy? If you're expecting anything more then cuddling then you're going to be disappointed. Please tell me, how many rape victims would want to fuck after getting raped a week or so it happened?

>>29706401
Can Rime have rape PTSD? I'm not so knowledgeable in how rape affects people, so maybe rape PTSD isn't such a bit idea.
>>
>>29706563
>>29706568
*cough cough* morals. But you clearly want to throw those out the window.
>>
>>29706574
I am fine with being a bit shaken but full blown ptsd would just get in the way. Besides avoiding intimacy is a bad way to get past things.

I am fine with just cuddles though.
>>
>>29706401
Ask when they will execute her.
>>
>>29706401
I spent a bit a time looking up how rape affects people. I think Hypoactive sexual desire disorder, but I'm not one hundred percent sure. Just throwing that out there.
>>
>>29706584
How do you know intimacy is how you curb rape?
>>
>>29706593
Or she could just move past it not every rape victim gets a disorder. We should just ease back into sexual activity slowly.

Solars have probably left a trail of broken mares if you want to console them at least.
>>
>>29706600
Letting a single event define your life is not healthy.
>>
>>29706611
Although if you really want to make it a big deal we could channel it into righteous anger.
>>
>>29706606
>not every rape victim gets a disorder.
I don't believe that. Can you post a link to that to put my mind at ease?
>>
>>29706638
https://mainweb-v.musc.edu/vawprevention/research/mentalimpact.shtml
Have you been spending time with sjws anon.
>>
>>29706401
I kind of want to and not want to do the torture thing at the same time. When I say this I mean I'm still against the use of torture, but I'm curious enough to want to talk to this "mare," before she is executed.
>>
>>29706788
You mean SJWs? No. Why do you ask?
>>
>>29706401
Hey Warlock. What are your thoughts on these discussion of rape and torture?
>>
>>29706788
I've read the article and thought it was fascinating. I may even compare or confirm it later for myself if I have the energy. Now I'm worried that Time might had contracted an STD.
>>
>>29706860
The fact you thought every single rape victim ended up with a problem.
>>
>>29706927
Yep. Now I know a little better.
>>
>>29706539
>>29706812

"Well..." - you muttered, turning towards Last Word - "If you want your own room, I guess we could probably try to bunk in the remaining one."
"You-you don't need to do it!" - she protested - "Uh, I mean, that, maybe, you could stay with me?"
"Then it's settled." - you smiled - "And about plans - I still have that interrogation thing to carry on."
"No objections." - Gust shrugged, while Arcane only silently nodded.
"Is it really necessarily?" - filly meekly inquired.
"Aw, come on, I'm sure it will not take too long." - you gently petted her mane - "Not that I really want to do it, but we need to learn about our enemies, and I don't want to miss such possibility. And don't worry, I am not some kind of a blood-thirsty sadist, so "
"Okay then. Just... come back soon, okay?" - Word quickly embraced you in a hug.
"Sure thing." - you smiled, returning the hug.

"Come on, sweetheart, I still have a job to do." - you pouted after half a minute, and the filly reluctantly let you go.
After saying farewells, you hurried to the prison wing, where you were greeted by earth pony stallion.
"You're already here, ma'am?" - warden saluted, and then handed you a case - "Anyway, here are the requested tools. I can bring her to the inteerogation room, or to the dungeon, if you expect a lack of compliance. You can try to question her straight in the cell too, but I'd advice against it, since things could get... unhygienic, and prisoners are not supposed to die from infections."

Your actions?
>>
>>29706951
Will there be anyone else with us to observe our interrogation methods? Does the interrogation too have one of those one sided see through Windows? Can we move her to the interrogation room, then to the dungeon if needed?
>>
>>29706951
Interrogation room should do.
>>
>>29706988
>>29707058

"Well, I suppose interrogation room will work. I'll be able to move her to the dungeon if needed, right?"
"Sure thing, ma'am." - warden nodded - "I will watch the process from outside, through the one-sided window, you know, in case anything gets out of control or you'll require some assistance."
"Good. So, I'll wait for her in the room then."
"Follow me then, ma'am." - Warden replied and you moved to the interrogation room.

You sat comfortably on your chair and looked around the minimalistic interior of the room. Nothing interesting could be said about it, really - white walls, iron table, iron stool and your chair. You hid your case under your chair, just in case, and began to wait for the infiltrator to be escorted.
After about five minutes warden and the chained mare entered the room, the latter yanked by a leash, connected to the metal collar around her neck, by the warden. Mare's front and back hooves were shackled together, so she could move only in small steps. You also noticed that Gust's horn ring was still on.
As soon as the two ponies entered the room, warden silently saluted and hastily left, closing the door.
The infiltrator was glaring at you defiantly, and you got the impression that she will not even say her name.

Your actions?
>>
>>29707178
Ask her how long she was able to avoid detection for.
>>
>>29707178
Is the chain connected to the floor?
>>
>>29707178
A how do you do to the mare.
>>
>>29707245
>>29707579

You scanned the room once more, but found no hoor or something like that to which you would be able to chain her to, or tie her leash, though she didn't look physically stronger or older than you, so you had no doubt you'll manage to restrain her by yourself if the need arises.
Despite her demonstrating noncompliance, you thought that you'll be able to resolve the interrogation without resorting to violence. With such thoughts you started the conversation:
"So, for how long did you manage to avoid being caught?"
Silence was her only reply.
"Come on, your resistance will not get you anywhere." - you sighed - "We all know that if I will want to, I can resort to harsher measures and it will be worse for both of us."
Unicorn mare still stood motionless, challenging you with her posture.
"You sure must know that you'll break anyway."
Her lack of response was beginning to unnerve you. Perhaps, she was provoking you?

Your actions?
>>
>>29707625
Poke her in the face like an annoying twat. Maybe book her on the snooter.
>>
>>29707632
*boop
>>
>>29707625
Think you'll live at the end of this?
>>
>>29707625
Awww is the widdle baby mad she got caught?

If we are ultimantly unable to break her we should comend her on her commitment to a tyrant.
>>
>>29707625
Nuff of the tough pony act. We both know what's going to happen, so you better fess up.
>>
>>29707625
Conjure snowballs to throw at her.
>>
>>29707632
>>29707650
>>29707661
>>29707664

"Look, most probably you'll end up executed. Why should you make it even harder for yourself?" - you asked, rising from the table.
Still not getting any verbal response, you began slowly walking towards her.
Malicious grin appeared on your face when you noticed that she tenced up as you were approaching.
"Or is the little filly just mad that she got caught?" - you smirked.
Then you hastily extended your hoof towards her face and dealt a precise boop in her snoot. The mare looked confused for a moment, but she quickly regained her composure and took a deep breath. And then...

It feeled like her saliva covered your entire face. For a brief second you feared that after she spat at you face, she might try to attack you, but perhaps she either understood that her attempt to escape would be doomed, or she was too afraid of losing her balance in her shackles.

Your actions?
>>
>>29707722
Use your TK to gather the spit into a ball, and shove it in her ear. That'll teach her not to mess with us!
>>
>>29707722
Move behind her so she can't spit at you again
>>
>>29707722
Spit back at her but freeze the spit in midair.
>>
>>29707722
Fyi you'll probably never see your family again.
>>
>>29707769
>>29707787
>>29707833
>>29707945

"You know, you'll never see your family again." - you sighed, levitating the spit from your face with help of your telekinesis and rolling it in a ball - "Doesn't it bother you in a slightest?"
You carefully examined her face, but no muscle twicthed there and she continued to stand motionless, a living monument to defiance.
Then you slowly walked around her, stopping at her rear. After admiring the view for a while, you froze the saliva ball and pushed it inside her ear.
She winced from pain, but seeing no malice on your face she gave you a deadpan look and finally spoke her first words since the start of interrogation:
"You are pathetic."

Your actions?
>>
>>29708090
And you now have a hearing problem in your ear. Hows that goin for you?
>>
>>29708090
>"You are pathetic."
Why do you say that?
Pretend like you don't know what you're doing. See if we can keep her talking.
>>
>>29708090
Let's make a deal. I could deliver your last will or message to whoever you want after the war, within reason. You just need to tell me what I need to know. And do note that there are others far more crueler and effective than I. Not to say that I don't know what I'm doing, no. Just thought you would like to know.
Think about it. Think about who we are and what we can do.

Had to delete. they were bugging me.
>>
>>29708112
>>29708196
>>29708324

"Look, and now you have a hearing problem. Was it really worth it?" - you tilted your head.
"Are you really so much of a moron?" - she replied, not even bothering to look at you.
"Come on, why do you say such things?" - you sheepishly grinned.
"You really think anyone sane would behave like you?"
"Look, I am just trying to be, well, relatively nice with you." - you sighed - "I don't like this whole 'crazy sadist' buizness, but believe me, I can be cruel if the need arises. So, let's have a deal - since you're not going to leave the city alive, after the war ends I could deliver your last will to whoever you want, within the reason, of course. You just need to cooperate."
"You're not going to bribe me, traitor." - her voice was dripping with venom.

Your actions?
>>
>>29708406
Bribe is such a dirty word for what I'm offering you. No really I promise to deliver the letter myself if I live to see the end of the war. I take it there's no one left for you to write too? No family or lovers, no friends or spouse, no children? Nothing? You'll just sit in a dirty cell, contemplating how you never took this opportunity write to someone who maybe grieving over you, wondering when you will come home?

I'm sure your training as a guard has physical interrogation methods, but I doubt it will protect your soul.
>>
>>29708406
They say that the eyes are the windows to the soul. Look me in the eyes. I'm trying to help you here.
>>
>>29708406
You thought painting yourself green would have worked? Seriously?
>>
>>29708501
>>29708540
>>29708599

"Bribe is such a dirty word, you know?" - you shook your head disappointedly.
"Perfectly fitting for such traitorous scum." - she smirked.
"By declining my offer you're being ointlessly stupid, don't you think? Though you don't really look bright at all - I mean, painting your own hide? You really thought it would work?"
"It worked better than anything else we had at our disposal."
"It still was pretty pathetic." - you smirked and applied your telekinesis to turn her head towards you - "Look into my eyes and tell me - are you going to spend the last hours of your life sitting in a dirty cell, completely alone? Don't you have anyone you care about or who would grieve about you? Friends, family? Spouse or children?"
She again took a deep breath, but at this time she decided to saty your curiosity: "My last friends were captured by your deceiving brethren. My family is buried beneath the ruins of Colth. Pray tell me, how are you going to help?" - she said last words with a sneer.

Your actions?
>>
>>29708705
Wait, Cloth? Weren't those blue smirfs responsible to leveling that city off the map?
>>
>>29708705
>"It worked better than anything else we had at our disposal."
Wow. That's the best your intelligence agency can come up with.
>>
>>29708705
you have my condolences.

If we don't want to get nasty with her, then maybe we should leave her to her fate. It's like the Alef pony said. They got everything out of her. If they think they might have skimmed over something important then they should just take her to the Nightbringers to get brutally mind rapped. Actually, why haven't they done that? And, maybe there is a chance that this mare might know something her compatriots didn't know.
>>
That's it for today, seems like you have much to discuss now.

Thanks for playing!
>>
>>29708939
thanks
>>
>>29708756
Nah colth is the place the nightbrimgers may or may not have razed.
>>
>>29708705
You call me a traitor. Tell me what sort of lies has that bitch celestia being telling you people.
>>
>>29706584
>I am fine with just cuddles though.
Yeah that seems like a good idea maybe cop a feel of her teats while we are at it.
>>
>>29711082
>>
As far as I can say, you still have not chosen your next course of action.
Are you going to get nasty/leave her/mock her/something else?
>>
>>29711825
I think we should just ask her what lies that bitch Celestia has been feeding people her response might give us a way to further conversation.

We should also ask for Gusts horn ring back. If the warden tries to just give us a replacment tell him that ring holds important memories for us some good, some bad but all important.
>>
>>29710211
Noooooo. Cloth was the City built by the Nightbringers. They were away so the local police or guards had a hard time containing the riots. The Smurfs and I think the wolves, along with that old fuck came by and steamrolled the place.
>>
>>29710351
What? No. Plz. There is someone observing us from the other side of the window. What's with the shitposting senpai? I, maybe I'm the weird one?

>>29711902
>that ring holds important memories for us some good, some bad but all important.
Define, important. Why would think Rime would hold a horn suppressing ring that was used during coitus, then as a hindrance (refer to rape) would be of important personal value? Pardon me if you think I'm being sarcastic, but I'm interesting in know why.

>>29710223
>>29711902
I'm worried that calling the person she worships or has aligned herself to will cause repercussions. Calling Celestia a bitch? is this necessary? Will insulting her favorite princess make her more willing to work with us? Or will this not affect her at all? Curious. Very very curious.
>>
>>29711960
First, it's Colth and not Cloth.
And second - you were referring to Diarchia.

All this lore for nothing...
>>
>>29712063
It was was just one misplaced letter darnit! And Yeah, now I remember the tidbits about Colth. Some parts being exaggerated by the civilians.
>>
Well, the mistake was made more than once in more than one thread, so I decided to correct you. Sorry about that then.

>>29712041
So do you support >>29711902 about asking about Celestial propaganda , or do you have something else in mind?
>>
>>29712131
I support >>29711902 about asking about Celestial propaganda, minus the bitch part.
>>
>>29711902
Shit I forgot the second half of this post.

If she still refuses to talk it is time to get rough. Place our tools on the table and tell her we were going to use these but she has pissed us off enough we are going to do something more personal. Then slam her head on the table, freeze her tounge and push shards of ice into her eye in that order.

Again only do this if she refuses to talk.
>>
>>29712041
>What? No. Plz. There is someone observing us from the other side of the window
I was refering to with Gust tonight.
>>
>>29712041
I feel the ring would be important because it is also a reminder of our time with Gust, if she dies on our next mission it would be the only thing we have to remember her by. In addition by keeping the ring we signal to ourselves that we are not going to let what happened control us.
>>
>>29712441
Wow. That's seems a needlessly excessive. I thought we had agreed against the torture. What gives?
>>
>>29712581
>signal
You mean symbolic? Having the ring in our possession is symbolic as it would mean Rime would have control over herself. Something like that? And I guess it is kind of important, though I believe you are over estimating the importance of a link ring. On the chance she would die, it would also remind Rime that she is no longer amongst the living. Sweet and sour, yon and yang, etc.
>>
>>29712616
>Having the ring in our possession is symbolic as it would mean Rime would have control over herself
Yes. That is what I meant.
>>
>>29712586
>>29712441
Do you want Rime to get rough so she can brush up on her torturing skills?

After reading your second half of the first post, I can safely say, Holy Shot Balls! That's crazy.
I am highly against this, but if Rime ends up doing that then I suggest moving this to the torture chamber. It was made for a reason.
>>
>>29712759
>Do you want Rime to get rough so she can brush up on her torturing skills?
Well interrogation skills but yes.
I am not invested in the torture though I am fine with not doing it. The ring is the part of my suggestions I really care about.
>>
Just to clarify - we ask about Celestial propaganda, and if she refuses to cooperate with us, we move her to the dungeon and get nasty, right?
>>
>>29713089
Well that was what I suggested but a few people seem against getting nasty.
I think we are agreed on the propaganda just without calling Celestia a bitch (which she totaly is)
>>
>>29712586
I would not say we already agreed. There were no objections until after we said we would interogate her.
>>
>>29713126
However if we are going to pussy out on the torture it is important we not tell her we will torture her. What good are we if we do not follow through on our threats.

Maybe say something along the lines of I am not going to torture you for information we already have, if I was a psychopath I would have joined the solar guard.

I think maybe people were ok with a little torture but found the eye wounds excessive. You should probably do a strawpoll with 3 options.

>mild torture

"My condolences then. But we were not the ones to start the war-"
"Then who? It were we, who backstabbed their comrades, it were not we, who slaughtered ponies while they slept, it were not we, who plunged our kingdom in the new, devastating war..."
"Celestia incured it upon herself with her own actions." - you cut her off - "It's sad that you are still reluctant to look at the situation you are into."
"You can't deny the obvious facts." - she victoriously grinned - "You are traitors."
As much as you hated to admit, kind words will get you nowhere. You were still reluctant to actually torment her, so you decided to try to scare her instead.
"I heard enough." - you sighed - "Warden, take her to the dungeon."
A moments later, earth pony silently walked inside the room. He saluted and gave you a strange look, which meaning you were unable to identify. Then he took the leash and lead the infiltrator from the room. She did not try to resist, though the expression of defiance was frozen on her face. You levitated the case and followed him.

Dungeon turned out to be a big, dimly lit stone room with numerous closed doors, probably leading to the storages. As far as you could see, it was filled with torture devices - racks, stocks, spiked chairs... Chains hung from the walls, and there also were several cabinets filled with smaller instruments.
"It is your last chance." - you warned the stubborn mare, trying to conceal your unease at the display of various devices of tormentcraft - "If I was a sadistical psychopath, I would have joined the Solar Guard, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't be tough for you."
"What do you want me to prepare for her?" - warden indifferently inquired after half a minute of silence.

Your actions?
>>
>>29713589
I can do this with magic, I just needed a room I could get bloodied. Start with the tongue freeze no need to go right to gouging her eyes out.
>>29712441
>Place our tools on the table and tell her we were going to use these but she has pissed us off enough we are going to do something more personal
Also say this.
>>
>>29713589
We cannot back out now, the moment we agreed to this interrogation we accepted torture was a possibility. We do not need to go over the top but we have to rough her up a little.
>>29713612
Seconding this but maybe start with something softer like rubbing her nose in the floor with magic. We want to give her as many chances as we can to back out before we really fuck her up. slowly progress through nose rubbing, tongue freezing and eye gouging if after we stab her eyes she still refuses to talk just call it a loss and go find something better to do.

Ah he'll. Looks like you guy are going for torture after all. Whatever. Don't do the tongue freezing. It will prevent her from talking.
I'm tired of this. Fuck it. You guys be edgy twats then.
>>
>>29713589
Ask the warden what's wrong. Put her in a rack.

"My magic will be enough." - you assured him - "Just wanted to have a room I could get bloodied."
"I'll stay neraby, in case you would need me." - warden nodded and entered one of the doors.
As you two were left alone, you yanked the leash, throwing the mare on the floor. Then you pressed your forehoof against her back and lit up your horn.
Her head jerked, and you pressed it to the ground with your remaining forehoof and then, with the aid of your telekinesis, pressed her muzzle against the cold, stone floor and began moving it back and forth.
After a while you decided that she had enough and pulled her mane upwards.
"It's only beginning, you know? It's going to get only worse. So, perhaps you will reconsidered my offer?" - you asked, hanging over her face.
She only stared at the floor, wheezing something quietly.
"You know, I thought about using more concentional tools, but you are really getting under my skin." - you said matter-of-factly.
You were preparing to freeze her tongue, when revelation suddenly struck you - she will be unable to talk!
Thankful that some part of your mind managed to prevent yet another moment of stupidity, you still were left at a loss about your next course of action, so you decided to pay some attention to infiltrator's ramblings and leaned towards her head.
"...Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear..." - the mare went on whispering some rite with a shaking voice.

Your actions?
>>
>>29713838
Again I'm against this, but whatever. Might as well go along. Tell her she cant face her fear whilst being bound. Does this torture room have a device we can use to heat up metal? If so I suggest gagging her and making shallow cuts with the heated metal. I don't want to hear her scream.
>>
>>29713838
Reciting a mantra I see? It will not work, for you see, I can tell you're already afraid.

Can't we just quit while we're ahead? This is getting edgy and not in the good way.

>>
>>29714003
Shtalp it anon. We don't need to do this. Rime will be a bad edgy pone.
>>
>>29713976
>Can't we just quit while we're ahead?
Not really. We were put on this path when we first said we would interogate her.
>>
>>29714006
We can just say later that we hated doing it but it would be absurd to back out.
>>
>>29714014
You don't do things you hate, and we REALLY don't need to do this.

Give me one good reason why we should continue and not quit.
>>
>>29713838
Use your magic to freeze the ground below her, or around her. Basically lower the temperature to a uncomfortable level.

Then give her one last warning, akin to, "This is your last chance, speak up, or I'm going to freeze of body part after body part till you WILL speak."

Maybe add some threatening description about freezing to death or loosing limps to frostbite.
>>
>>29714008
So does that mean if you say you're gonna eat shot then you'll follow through?
>>
>>29713921

"You know, I can hear you." - you whispered to her ear and noticed that she jerled in surprise - "It's useless. It's obvious that you're already afraid."
She fell silent for a moment, but then protested with surprising eagerness - "You lie! I-I am not afraid of you."
You looked closely at her face and noticed tears forming in the corners of her eyes - maybe because of pain, or maybe because of despair.
"No you are." - you grinned - "For how long are you going to deny it?"
"I-I am not going to betray others, you traitor!" - she exclaimed - "I-I know no fear!"

Your actions?
>>
>>29714034
Why are you doing this to the pretty pony ;_;
>>
>>29714038
Can we leave now ;_;? I don't want Rime to be an edgy bad pony.
>>
>>29714042
Better than outright torturing her. Why still not backing out of the situation we are in.

The intention is not to actually go through with it, but to create a realistic threat so she speaks.
>>
>>29714032
I say we go as far as freezing a body part after that we should quit. You are right though we absolutely should not enjoy this.

Maybe say it was the worst expirence of our life but we would gladly do it again if it means stopping celestia

"You really think so?" - you lit up your horn again, sending a chill down her spine - "Do you know what are the effects of frostbite?"
Without waiting for her to reply, you went on:
"The blood vessels are narrowing, leading to the deceleration of blood flow and cells throughout your body will start dying from hunger, not able to get enough nutricients to carry on. Furthermore, if the temperature is low enough, the water inside your body will turn into small sharp ice crystalc, puncturing your blood vessels and destroying your body from within. Just imagine - thousand, millions tiny needles tearing your body apart."
You noticed that the mare shuddered and tried to start whispering her mantra once again.
"You know it will not help." - you grin, creating a chilling semsation at her hooves - "Do you feel your body going numb? Do you feel your muscles stiffen?"
Mare fell silent, as fear took better of her.
"But the best part? It comes when your body warms again. Did you know that when blood flow will restore to normal your cells literally set themselves ablaze because of excessive amounts of oxygen there. I think I'll just leave you to rot in your cell, watching helplessly as your beatiful skin turns black and flake off, while your incestinies are burning beneath it. So, should I go on?" - you innocently tilted your head.
Silence was your only answer.
"Well, I guess I have no choice." - you sighed, cringing internally.
"P-please." - she suddenly whispered, tears running down her cheeks - "I... I don't want it..."

Your actions?

It would be much better if you knew what exactly was known to Alef, but then you considered that this way test is as close to reality as possible.
"And what exactly can you tell me?" - you grinned, struggling not to sigh in relief because you were delivered from actually tormenting her - "Make me stop."
"B-but what do you want to know? J-just ask!"
"Everything." - you smirked - "Start from the beginning."
"I..." - she sobbed - "We were s-sent to support the local resistance cells, but when we arrived it... it turned out everyone was slain, so to carry our mission..."
"Your mission?"
"The 'Nemesis'. T-the cells were supposed to destroy it, or at least damage." - she replied - "So we decided to steal the documents from the castle."
"We?"
"Y-yes, our squad... there were five of us. We... we got ambushed by your special forces before we could retrieve them... sarge and Quiet captued and others..." - she suddenly felt silent, though her sobbing intensified.
"What's the problem?" - you raised an eyebrow, lighting up your horn - "Or do you need to be reminded of my abilities?"
"P-please..." - she pleaded - "Don't make me sell them out..."
Tears streamed down her face now, as she was struggling to find a smallest sign of mercy on your face.

>"The 'Nemesis'. T-the cells were supposed to destroy it, or at least damage." - she replied - "So we decided to steal the documents from the castle."

"Well." - you harrumphed - "Perhaps you would be interested to learn that some rebels managed to steal the plans of 'Nemesis' a while ago. Perhaps you have managed to contact them?"
"We have arrived here just yesterday." - she replied, visibly relieved - "We - we were unable to find any members of resistance left. It was decided that we would try to sneak inside the castle, but... we were detected."
"Good to know." - you muttered - "But don't think that I let the question about your squadmates slip. Where are they? I need answers and I need them now."
To be more convincing, you sent another wave of chill through mare's body. She shrinked into a ball and began to shake:
"P-please." - she whispered in quivering voice - "I... they... they are my friends! Please!"

Will you press her harder, or will you forget about the question, despite the fact that Alef might be dissatisfied with such decision?

>>
>>29715299
Because it is a major wound without beong to major. We would only be doing one ear.
>>
>>29715368
2 reasons.
>Dedication to the cause.
Alef is right we need this practice. We may not enjoy doing this but it is better to make mistakes here then on a mission. If this helps improve our chances of stopping celestia we are all for it.
>mare of our word
If we cannot follow through on our threats what good are we, how can we be trusted to follow through on our promises then. I was initialy in favor of ceasing torture after we freeze a body part but now that we have threatened her with frostbite we should follow through if she does not talk (thankfully it seems she probably will after a body part).

I think it is important we not enjoy this. Rime is doing this because she has to, she still finds it unpleasant.
>>
>>29715739
>>29715890
>we are all for it.
Not really.
>If we cannot follow through on our threats what good are we
It's called a bluff. And what's with the 'I don't like this but we have to do it' spiel? If we dont enjoy doing this then we should find a better alternative, or maybe not torture this mare in the first place? And so what if the Alef mare offered to practice torture on someone, hmm? What do we care? You can say oh boo hoo this is horrible, but at the end of the day ya still dun did tha deed. Not because you had to, but because you wanted to.

Fuck am I talking about? Think I lost focus for a bit. Right. I think your reasoning is flawed. There I said it.
>>
>>29715739
>>29719563
I want us to stop if you couldn't have guessed.
>>
"Why am I here?" - the question hammered into your mind, as you watched the infiltrator humiliating herself before you - "Why am I doing this?"
It should not have come to this - you thought, shaking your head. You enlisted just to get some money to pay your debts, damn it! You have never really cared about politics or the princesses, and deep inside you suspected that there was something more in the conflict than Lady Nightmare said at that fateful night.
True, most of the Solar guards look like heartless bastards... at least most of the ones you had personally met. Not that every last one member of the Night guard was nice too, if at least half of the rumors about Nightbringers and Colth are true, but again, Argent Dawn seemed like a nice stallion, even despite him sharing his body with a demon...
You shook your head, driving these thoughts from your head. You had a more pressing matter right now.

You looked again at the miserable mare, shaking hard in anticipation of the torture you have so vivdly described moments ago.
She was at your mercy, you were sure that you neeed to push only a little further... You knew it and she knew it.
So, maybe it was not necessarily? The point was to 'educate' yourself, not to actually get information, and as much as you despised to admit, you did the job well.

No. You will not be like them. There is already too much pain and suffering in Equestria, and you were not going to add more than necessary.
"Warden!" - you hailed the earth pony - "I am finished with her. Also, the tools were not needed."
Prisoner fell silent at your words, as if unable to believe that you have decided to show mercy. A moments later warden emerged from the room and glanced at the crying mare. He gave you a respectful look and trotted towards her.

You felt like you really needed to get something to drink, but maybe you should say something before you leave?

Your actions?
>>
>>29719599
Cannot say I am not disapointed we pussied out but still lets go cry about what we did to Gust.
>>
>>29719599
>He gave you a respectful look and trotted towards her.
Really Now. Ok. What else is there to say to this mare? She has no one to write too, her friends are captured. Words of reassurance? Those words would be empty.
Maybe in the next life she will be dealt a better hand Å• hoof.
>>
>>29719599
>>29719614
Crying to someone about these recent events seem like a strange thing to do. 'Geez I feel horrible for nearly breaking this mare, hold me?'
>>
>>29719715
There was a consistent theme throughout that we only did it because we felt we had to.
>>
Oh neat the drama's gone.
>>29719599

Dammit I'm an idiot. Should've used some of those points you mentioned, but I didn't. This mare probably doesn't want see us any longer then she had too. Unless she's gonna say or ask something we should leave.
>>
As far as I can say, the only suggestion concerning your next course of action was to cry about this to Gust, and some of you are clearly opposed to it.

So, I am still waiting for suggestions.
>>
>>29719756
No this quest is generally pretty civil some others though
>>
>>29719825
I am fine with crying to Gust.
>>
>>29719715
Well that is exactly what happened we almost broke her but felt terrible the whole way through.
>>
>>29719614
Once we cry to her we should say "remember when I said I would help castrate that one guys son if it turned out he was lying about being innocent, please don't hold me to that"
>>
You decided against saying any kind of farewells and silently left the dungeon. Then you headed to the Arcane's and Gust's room.
To your surprise, Gust was nowhere to be seen, while Arcane was sitting at the deck, studying his recently acquired grimoire. His armor set stood beside his bed, held together by unicorn's magic. You remembered that you haven't paid attention to his cutiemark before, and so you decided to use such rare occasion of Arcane being without his armor and threw a glance at his flank, while he was immersed in reading.
His cutiemark turned out to be a golden serpent devouring its own tail. Peculiar.

"Uh, hello, and where is everyone?" - you spoke up and Arcane turned his head towards you, clearly irritated.
"Gust said something about the 'Great Drinking Crusade' and left soon after you." - unicorn replied - "Word is probably in her room, where you left her."

Your actions?
>>
>>29720193
I think that we should still see Gust I would rather not dump our breakdown on Word and if we try to talk to Arcane about it it will likely turn into an argument.

Ask Arcane how his studies are going and then go ask word if she knows what bar Gust went to. If she does not know go searching for her.
>>
>>29720193
Go hug the lil WMD.
>>
>>29720299
You mean Word right?
>>
>>29720301

>>
"So you have no idea where exactly she went?" - you inquired.
"Not a clue. Now, if you excuse me..."
"Yeah, yeah, have fun with your studies." - you rolled your eyes and left the room.

Since you had nothing better to do now, you decided to cuddle with Last Word for a while.
"I am back." - you smiled, entering the second room - "As I promised."
"You have finished pretty quickly." - Last Word detachedly noted. She was lying on one of the beds and saring right into your eyes.
"It went... better than expected." - you replied, trying to conceal your unease - "I gad only to scare her a bit and she became willing to cooperate. No harm was done"
Filly heaved a sigh of relief and you took it as permission to come closer and sit on the bed. Word moved her head on your lap and you began slowly pet her mane.

"Hey, Frosty." - she suddenly asked - "Why did you agree on interrogation? What if... she turned out to be not so willing?"

You didn't really want to talk about it, especially to her, but you did not want to ignore her either.

Your actions?
>>
>>29720193
I guess drinking is a solution. But do we have any bits for good alcohol? 14 bits will only get you so far, and by the end of it we'll be broke. Eh, not sure if we should go.

That one Alef mare did offer us the choice to practice on her, and i wasnt sure if that was spy test or not. So i agreed. I didnt like what i learn.

I noticed all these anons wanting for Rime to break down crying, but that seems too sudden for an appropriate action from her, at least to me. I would have expected some hints by now if she were to break down into a sobbing mess. For example, maybe sometime during conversation her with Arcane, she could have talked with a voice to show us the torture session had a serious affect on her mentally. Or walking away from the prisoner she with shaky legs or something and watery eyes. Like hell she's KILLED people. You think she cried for them?
>>
>>29725512
Who knows other than Warlock himself? Im just speculating about Rimes mental health and if she's gonna cry or not.
>>
>>29725512
Thing is she clearly only did it out of duty. There was a constant undercurrent of not enjoying what she was doing I think if we do not break down we at least need to talk to somebody. At the least to be reminded we are not a bad person.
>>
>>29725605
Duty? There was no duty in this. It wasn't some task she had to perform or a legal obligation. It was presented to her as an option which she could have refused. There was no underlying threat or order. It was just some anon that thought "hey, torturing this mare could be fun." This torturing thing has been an awful choice and one big hypocritical mess.

Feeling stupefied and dazed I can understand. But breaking down 'immediately,' without any hint of it happening would seem forced. And I agree with you one her seeing some about this. Preferable someone professional. Like a psychiatrist?
>>
>>29725780
Nobody voted for it because they felt it would be fun they did it because they felt we needed the practice in case we had to do it at the prison (qm did a good job of pleasing those people while still stopping the torture to). Besides from what little has been seen of our character so far it makes sense that we would jump at the chance to improve our ability to perform our duties regardless of if we are likely to successfully do so (the book).

I would not say it is an immediate breakdown more that we start to talk about what happens and then the floodgates open.

>talk to a psychiatrist about our highly classified activities.
>spend hours of valuable tyrant fighting time talking about our feelings
I am all for professional help but not until the war is over.

"Truth to be told, I... I was afraid. Afraid that I could not decline her offer, that if I declined, they would decide that I am unfitting for the job..." - you fell silent, letting Last Word to connect the dots by herself.
"I don't want you to be a monster." - she whispered, snuggling up to your chest - "Not even for me. Please, you.. I don't deserve it."
"Of all the ponies, you deserve it more than anyone else." - you quietly replied, embracing her in a tight hug - "But I do not want it too - that's why I left, after all. This war... it is bringing out everything dark and bad inside us. And we need to stop it as soon as possible. If I could help, I would have never do it again..."
"I'm worried for you, Frosty." - she looked straight into your eyes, perhaps noticing tears forming in the corners of your eyes.
"I'm worried for myself too." - you sighed - "Perhaps I need to see a psychologist."
"Sounds like a good idea..." - Last Word muttered in reply.

There sure were pscyhologists in the guard, but you suspected that since the war started, you wouldn't be able to get an appointment for a couple of weeks. You could talk to Pure Belief about your issues - you remembered that she said that chaplains were introduced to help guardsponies to deal with their mental issues, in addition to their other duties -, though you felt that she did not really like you. Also, from what you could recall about your last meeting with Nightbringers, Argent Dawn had undergone some kind of chaplain training too. Maybe he would be more inclined to help?

"You know what?" - you suddenly asked no one in particular - "I am doing it!"
"W-what are you talking about?" - filly blinked in confusion.
"I am going to visit a psychologist. Or at least get an appointment." - you explained. You decided not to mention that you were actually going to talk to Argent Dawn, remembering Last Word's less-than-pleasant experience with them.
"I hope it helps. So, are you leaving now?"
"Of course not, silly!" - you cheerfully booped her - "I am not going to deny you you well-deserved snuggles!"
After spending about fifteen minutes cuddling with Last Word, you left the castle and moved to the Nightbringers' residence.
In the church's main hall stood about dozen ponies - two of them in the armor of Nightbringers, three more in robes of the Lunar Cult and others were presumably civilians.
Noticing you enetering the church, one of the armored ponies trotted towards you.

"Greetings, how may I be of service?" - Argent Dawn politely inquired.
"Sir, I, well, I have a thing to discuss in private." - you muttered, struggling to keep eye contact.
"No need for formalities then." - Nightbringer lieutenant reassuringly smiled.
"I- it's not what I meant!" - you blurted - "I... I mean, well, during our last engagment I overheard that you had undergone chaplain's training at some point in time, and I, well, require a chaplain's assistance." - you muttered, struggling to keep eye contact.
"That's true." - earth pony stallion thoughtfully nodded - "I was tutored by the first chaplain Erebus, but I have decided to abandon the path of chaplain later. I assure you that I'll try to do everything in my powers to help though."
"Thanks." - you breathed freely - "But as I said, it is kinda private matter."
"If you want to speak in private, I suggest we move into my room." - lieutenant offered.
You silently nodded and then moved deeper inside the church.

It was more of a monastic cell than a proper room - a single bed, a deck near a window and a table, a closet where he probably kept his belongings - and that was all.
"I, well, you see..." - you started, after looking around the small room - "Chaplain Belief told me that duties of the chaplain include overseeing mental health of other troopers, and I find myself in need of a qualified psychologist." - you said, blushing a bit from embarrasment - "And I am under impression that chaplain Belief does not really like me, so I came to you instead."
"Well, I am all ears then." - Argent Dawn replied and gestured towards his bed - "Take a seat, please."

It's just like in my fanfictions.

Not to sound like an asshole but

>"W-what are you talking about?" - filly blinked in confusion.
Add "the" before "filly", or replace it with her name the first, last, or whole name if it fits. Or "said Last who blinked in confusion."

>"I was tutored by the first chaplain Erebus, but I have decided to abandon the path of chaplain later.
This might be my brain going hur dur. Using a present (have) and past (decided) words in the same sentence. Replace "have" with "had". Is this a problem - wait. Present perfect progressive tense. Nevermind. My brain is definelty hur dur this morning.

This is for you guys who may have forgotten the conversation:

>Oh, and I must inform you that mentioning your or other operatives' allegiance to the 'Alef Group' or compromising its existance to civilians, enemies or guards less in rank than captain will be equated to treason. Now, if you don't have any questions I would like to brief you on your next task."

No worries guys. Just don't say "Alef Group," make a decent lie, saw that it's not for us to tell, and we should be golden.
>>
>>29728376
She was shaken by the rape she just did not turn into a quivering mess and I want to keep it that way. Let her work through that with her girlfriend.

As for the killing why would we have a problem with it we believe in our cause and everybody before the war started they attacked us first. Maybe we should have been a little more shaken by all the innocent deer that died though.
>>
>>29728429
Are you kidding me? Those deers are assholes. And Rime doesn't strike me as the most zealous of the bunch to not care in this slightest that people die. But whatever.
>>
>>29728429
In case you forgot, Rime enlisted to pay off her debts, not because of
>hurr durr for the moon
>>
>>29728442
Not zealous sure but (in character at least) we firmly believe that Celestia tried to take total control out of greed)

As for the deer sure the ones in the arena were arseholes but think about the poor deer familys sitting at home watching tv. I do not think we should regret our actions, getting back onto the battlefield to fight Celestia is worth any sacrifice but wd should maybe feel a little bad.
Again classified though.
>>
>>29728459
We enlisted to pay off our debts but we have had a consistent characterisation of wanting to stop Celestia, never about loyalty to the leader but rather loyalty to the cause.
>>
>>29728460
I would rather leave Rime's motives and opinions to my players. Because I suspect that you're the only one pushing for that 'loyalty' thing, but again, I may be mistaken.

I suppose it is a question we'd better discuss OOC - I want to get your ideas/views/opinions on Rime's motivation at the current point in time.
>>
>>29728372
I like opening with this one.
If he asks for clarification tell him you tortured a spy we already had all the information on for practice and you feel really guilty that the torture was not really nesecary. You almost froze her tongue and ear off.

If he requires more info we should excuse ourselves and say we are not ready to say that right now.
>>
>>29728490
Personally I think we should belive wholeheartedly that Celestia really did do everything Luna claimed. However we should be slightly worried about what her sisters betrayal did to her mentally, she did change her name after all. Not worried enough for it to affect our determination to fight just be a little concerned about doing some questionable things during the first few years of her sole reign.
>>
>>29728540
I don't. We're just the little people caught between two giants.
>>
>>29728551
Then why were we so determined to escape the deer if not to get back into the fight.

I would be honest. It is becoming harder and harder with every passing day to not outright ignore your suggestions and force myself to look for the grains of reason in them.

For me, personally, this episode is like that one moment with the wall in showing your attitude towards my work and other fellow players.

Either you view a desire to escape people who enslaved you and use you as a gladiator as something abnormal or unnatural (and therefore have some crippling mental issue), or you are just some extremely dedicated shitposter.

"Thanks." - you replied, sitting on an edge of the bed and looking nervously at the armored stallion who, in turn, sat down on a chair - "So... It all started even before the war. I have already told you about the Hollow, right? Well, Solar guards have managed to learn about her existance at approximately the same time as we. My squad was forced to... cooperate with them on one occasion, and they decided that it was a perfect opportunity to corner us and get the location of the Hollow."
"And you were forced to resort to violence." - Argent Dawn thoughtfully nodded, not asking, but stating.
"Yes. We... we managed to make it look like a demonic incursion... I mean - at that point of time they were investigating a case where some cultists were involved, and fortunately the ones who arrived at the site of the battle knew nothing about demons and Hollows, so we managed to escape. The point is..." - you gulped - "I am still wondering. Sure, they were threatening us, and perhaps they could get away with disposing of us and torturing us for information, but were they really going to do this? Were we right to attack them first?"
"Lust for power had blinded many ponies, even ones who had noble intents before, and Hollows, as far as I can guess, are as powerful as they are rare. Even not taking in consideration the impending war, it is easy to understand why Solars have decided to put their hooves on such precious pony. No one can blame you for defending yourself. No one can blame you for protecting the interests of your liege. No one can blame you for attacking the corrupt official. You did not comply, and you did not give in to fear. You did the only right thing in that situation and for that you have my respect."

"Uh, well... thanks, I guess?" - you blushed a bit at the praise - "There is another thing... it happened when the war had started though. I was offered a chance to interrogate one of the captive Solars... looking back at it, I suppose I could have refused, but back then I was afraid that it would lead to some... nasty consequences. I agreed. And the worst part was that she... well, my superior was sure that we already knew all the information the captive had, so her reasoning was for me to get an interrogation practice. And when it came to interrogation itself..." - your voice began to shake - "I... I just could not force myself to do it. I... she was so afraid and..." - you struggled to explain, as tears were rolling down your face.
"Hush now." - you felt a cold iron caressing against your cheek, wiping your tears - "It is regrettable that there are ponies who view the war as something... much more entertaining than it should be, but obedience to your superiors was never as important as today. I can not blame you for accepting, since it was what a guardspony should have done, nor can I blame you for failing at the interrogation, since it what a pony should have done. You are still alive, well, and not in a penal squad. You have nothing to fear." - Argent Dawn whispered - "Not everyone can carry out such tasks. There is a reasoning behind having special ponies to take the job of interrogators."
"I-it is not only about fear. I mean - not about the fear of my superiors. I... I am afraid to lose what makes me a pony, afraid to become a monster." - you sobbed, deciding against mentioning that you have yet to report about the interrogation, since it could raise some unpleasant questions.

"It is our duty to suffer so other ponies might rejoice. We will sacrifice so others would have not. It is our duty as guardsponies. True, nobody was - or could be - prepared for such fratricide, but we can not always get what we expect. But that does not mean that we should give up and accept our fate, no. We should remember the fallen and mourn all the souls lost in the conflict - regardless were they friends or foes. We should try to preserve as much equinity as possible inside us. Yes, sometimes it is hard. Sometimes we are forced to do deplorable things and sometimes sacrifices must be made, but we still must cling to what makes us ponies." - he fell silent for a moment and then suddenly smirked - "It is rather ironic that a pony with demon inside his heart speaks about such matters, don't you think?"
"Well, there is something... ominous in that." - you cracked a smile in reply.
"It would surely sound insane to you, but I do not regret about the decision. What we have witnessed during the Pilgrimage..." - he sighed and shook his head - "Let me just say that a sense of purpose helps lot of ponies to cope with injustice of the world. You need to find something, that you would strive to achieve or protect, something that will help you to look at your past actions in a new light."
"You mean faith?" - you inquired, unable to hide the scepticism in your voice.
"Not only." - Dawn gave you a warm smile - "Duty. Honor. Friendship. Love. If there is a thing, concept or a person you care about with all your heart, nothing will stop your attempts to ensure its well-being. True, you may be still disgusted by your actions, but you would wholeheartedly believe that what you did was right and thus it would be easier for you to deal with any of your actions. >>
>>29735357
Why? Are you assuming Rime does not nees to bring this up?
>>
>>29735704
Not him but we don't. this session is about things we feel guilty for and we are not to blame for the rape, our only crime there was having a kinky girlfriend. On that note we should probably hop into bed with her sometime soon this will be a dangerous mission and I would not want my final sexual act to be solar penis.
>>
>>29735820
That's quite presumptuous of you anon. Since when is this session only about things we feel guilty for? Who says we can't talk about rape? Why is talking about the rape a bad idea? Why is talking about the Rape with Gust better then talking about it with Dawn? Why do you think Rime is more than capable of dealing with it by herself? Why? Why? Why?
>and we are not to blame for the rape

Because we have been doing fine so far.
>Ok? I don't see the point of mentioning that.
The crux of my argument is that we feel guilty about the torture and things we know exactly whos fault it is we got rapped (the rapist)

>Because she is a girlfriend and therefore best equiped to help us with it.

You missed the first two questions but, whatever. They didn't need to be answered anyways since the answers already lie in your argument. Still, I'm not satisfied with your reasoning though, but what I feel shouldn't matter. At least not enough to withdrawl my own and accept yours.
For one, there is no evidence to support that Gust, or the fact that shes Rime's marefriend, puts her as the most equipped person to facilitate all of Rime's needs. Sure it's sounds like a cute and novel idea, but she just can't compare to a trained professional like Argent Dawn who can empathize and help with Rime's issues more so than Gust ever could, thanks to his chaplain training and those he may have counseled in the past.

>>Why do you think Rime is more than capable of dealing with it by herself
>Because we have been doing fine so far.

It "seems" that way, doesn't it? Thing is, you cannot confirm that without professional help. In fact you can confirm anything without professional help. Which is why we are here talking with the lieutenant about our fee fees.

>>Ok? I don't see the point of mentioning that.
>The crux of my argument is that we feel guilty about the torture and things we know exactly whos fault it is we got rapped (the rapist)
Again, you're not understanding what I am trying to convey to you. Maybe it's your fault, or it's mine. I don't care at the moment. You see back in this post >>29736207, I had quoted you about the rape because it did not seem necessary, and i want sure what to do with it. It just seemed weird for you to mention.
Luke you were saying that there was this preexisting notion of Rime possibly blaming herself for her getting raped.

If you're still not satisfied, then hows about a compromise? We talk to both of them about the rape.

I was hoping for something more personal/related to my actions and story, but still thanks.

Also, if you guys want, we can have some short Q&A now.
>>
>>29738635
How large is the ground area of Cloudsdale in terms of how long it takes to move across it?
Are pony alcohol tolerances the same as human ones?
What sort of defenses does Cloudsdale have?
How does that worm we faced at the start of the quest compare to the average Discord spawn?
>>
>>29738761
Oh also do any sort of firearms exist in the setting right now that Rime would know of, even if they are primitive and useless on the battlefield?
>>
>>29738766
>>29738761

There are some primitive cannons, but no personal firearms yet. They were usually installed on airships or in castles to fight the biggest Discord's spawns.

There is no such thing as 'average' monster, since their nature is extremely chaotic. They could be gargantuan or tiny, deadly or harmless. Their skin could be tougher than steel or thinner than cloth. They could look like a floating sphere with no limbs or be a conglomeration of various animal with several heads, tails etc.

Apart from the walls and the citadel in the Lower City, connecting towers are well-defended too and can serve as smaller citadels on their own. Also there is aerial defense system, but Rime doesn't know much about it, except that it can shoot lightning and conjure rain.

It takes several hours to move from one end of the city to another. Cloudsdale is one of the biggest cities now.

Just let's assume that the tolerances are the same, like lifespan.
>>
>>29738797

"Let me just say that a sense of purpose helps lot of ponies to cope with injustice of the world.
What do you care about most?"
Family, our home, Word. We must strive to protect what we cherish most in this world with whatever time we have left. We must end this war.
>>
>>29744661
So you're saying that you are unsure if you SHOULD NOT talk to Gust about it?
>>
"Well, I... I see your point." - you evasively replied. Perhaps, telling him that you care too much about Last Word could have some nasty repercussions - you doubted that HQ viewed her as anything more than a living weapon - "Yes, there are ponies whom I am going to protect no matter what."
"Good. Try to remember that whatever deplorable acts you perform, they serve the greater goal. They ensure that ponies you care about will live in better tomorrow. Sometimes one must suffer so others can live." - Dawn smiled - "I hope I helped."
"Thanks, but...." - you gulped, preparing your confession - "There is one more thing I wanted to tell you about."
"I am all ears." - Dawn assured you.
"You see..." - you took a deep breath - "Once I decided to... diversify my sexual activities. So, I found myself tied to the bed while my partner left me as a 'punishment'." - you muttered. You were becoming more and more uncomfortable with Dawn's silent attention. Truth be told, you would have probably felt better if he branded you as a sinner and began chastising you for your impure ways, but he just... listened.
"And it turned out that... that there was a burglar, who waited for an a-appropriate moment to break in..." - a lump came up to your throat - "And... and..."
You could not hold back anymore and collapsed on the bed, bursting into tears. Then you felt something warm falling over your shoulders and slowly raised your head and glanced at Nightbringer's face through the veil of tears. A concerned smile was frozen on his face, as he held a blanket in his hooves.

"I hope that no permanent damage was done." - he said - "I must say that you are holding up pretty good after what happened."
"T-thanks." - you sobbed - "I took pills, so..." - your did not manage to finish the phrase, suppressed by another fit of crying.
"Try to look at it as at a test of sorts. You can not undo what happened, but now it is only up to you. Will you break under the weight of pain, or will you find a will to carry on?"
"I-it's easy to say some-something like that." - you blurted, wiping your tears.
"Believe me, I know what am I talking about." - his smile became somewhat sad, but your vision was still blurred, so you could not say for sure.
"H-how can you know?" - you sniffed - "Or were you..."
"No, no." - he shook his head - "But welcoming a demon into your body is not a pleasant sensation in any way." - he replied. After a brief pause he added - "When we went on the Pilgrimage, there were fifty of us. Only eighteen returned."

"Sure." - Dawn nodded and his armored hooves clutched around your body. To your surprise, you could feel their warmth even behind your own armor.
"I... well, thanks for sharing your story with me. I really appreciate it, but I... I honestly have no idea how these things can relate with my problem." - you said after hugging the Nightbringer for a couple of minutes.
"Being utterly helpless while another creature twists not only your body, but your mind and soul sounds pretty relatable for me." - Dawn grinned - "As I already said, it was pretty painful experience. But have no worries. As you can see, I survived the Pilgrimage, and I am not going to die any time soon. Well, at least before the Castle of Two Sisters."
"What is that 'Pilgrimage' thing anyway?" - you asked.
"Oh, that's how we call our quest to understand the nature of this world." - he replied - "That's when we got our new... soulmates. Well, the ones who survived."
"Sorry, I-I didn't want to remind you." - you blurted.
"Don't be sorry. Our grief will not ressurect the dead. Besides, one should always try to look for anything good in every situation. At least Raum turned out to be a nice companion."

I think it might be the equivalent of a captain. You mean to as the lieutenant of the history of chaplain? Where did it come from, why is it so important, etc?

Because there is no fucking need to let it dominate our life. We know if we ever meet him again it will likely be on the battlefield anyway.

"Raum? That's his name?" - you sceptically inquired.
"Yes." - Dawn smirked - "Did you expect something more menacing?"
"Well, sort of." - you blushed a bit - "And may I ask who was that demon who, well, showed some interest in me when you transformed?"
"Testament had recently gave a vow of celibacy. His companion was in a... teasing mood that night." - Nightbringer explained - "I doubt that sexual interest was involved in any way."
"Oh, a couple more question then." - you replied, dissapointed a bit - "First - do you have any estimations about when we're going to assault the Castle?"
"No later than we take Canterlot. After that we'd be on tight limit, since Solars will rush to the Castle too, so the assault will be bloody. I suppose that it would not take more than three weeks - one for Cloudsdale and two more for Castle, but we will probably finish much earlier."
"I see. And I was wondering - how do chaplains fir into the command chain and what are their responsibilities aside from caring about troops' morale?"
"Well, every squad has his own chaplain, and chaplains are supposed to have the same level of authority as the squad leader, though in military maters their role is mostly advisory. Also there are high-ranking chaplains for platoons and companied, but we refer to all of them simply as chaplains, since they have their own separate chain of command. Their commander is the First Chaplain, who answers directly to Lady Word herself. And apart from caring about troops' morale, their duties involve conducting religious rituals amd overseeing the training of the recruits."

"Thanks for clearing this up for me. And if I... if something bad happens again, could I come back for more counseling?"
"You are always welcome." - he smiled - "Need more hugs?"
"The thing I was going to ask for." - you flushed.

"Are the vows like the one Testament took a common thing for Nightbringers?" - you inquired after some snuggling - "It just looks a little bit over the top for me."
"Oh, no, they are not permanent." - Dawn shook his head - "They are much more common for fresh recruits of course, but one is encouraged to take a vow if he finds a certain weakness in himself. The point of the vow is not to restrict a pony, but to help overcome the weaknesses of flesh and mind. We are masters of our own body, not its slaves, but there is nothing wrong in rewarding your slave for a good work."
"That's an interesting look. And one more thing - do you remember when we were interrogating one of the rebels, before assaulting their hideout in the sewers? His family was taken in a custody too, and as far as I can see, they were innocent. I am not questoning your ways, but maybe, just maybe, you should reconsider your investigating methodics?"
"We'd reather not." - lieutenant replied - "And there are a couple of reasons. Imagine if one of your relatives was sent into a labor camp by ruling regime for crimes against the crown. Chances are that you are going to develop an enmity, or even hate towards the regime and will try to act against it, not to mention that in most cases families usually share political and ideological views. Also, it works as a good stimulating and deterring factor - knowing that your relatives will be taken with you might force some of the potential traitors to stay low. And I should mention that factories could use some dirty cheap workforce, so general Perturbation was not opposed to this idea."

Your actions?
>>
>>29762931
Using the laborers as a cheap work force? That makes sense. You don't have to pay them, and things such as food and water are enough to keep them alive.
>>
>>29762931
Asking about the drinking crusade, if he knows any bars, then we get out and do stuff.
>>
>>29762931
That doesn't sound good. But eh, ask about the crusade.
>>
>>29762931
>"Gust said something about the 'Great Drinking Crusade' and left soon after you." - unicorn replied
>>
>>29762931
Hey Warlock, what did you think of this? >>29758265
>>
>>29762931
Well I cannot pretend I like it but I suppose that makes sense. Hopefully this will all be over soon so the family members can go.

I still think we should ask him if he has any idea where Gust night be. Possibly imply we are after her for sexual reasons.
>>
>>29764113
On second thought lets not do the sexual thing. If we hype ourselves up for it and something gets in the way of getting laid (cannot find Gust, Gust is to busy, Gust is not in the mood) tonight we will be disapointed. I still think we should try and get some sex in tonight but just don't mention it right now.
>>
>>29764746
Lad, she's gonna be pissed drunk.
The only action you'll be getting is front seats to the vomit comet.
>>
>>29764824
Yeah your probably right unfortunately. Still we should go find her and make sure she does not get to drunk it won't be good if they have to take her to the hospital or something.
>>
>>29764848
It's gonna be a bitch if we have to carry her back.
>>
>>29765584
We could lighten the load with magic maybe. We are not strong enough to lift a whole pony but we may be able to put enough lift in to reduce how heavy she is for us to carry.
>>
>>29762931
If he does not know anything about a drinking crusade we should also ask if there is a bar the ascended frequent.
>>
>>29765915
If that is the case I hope some arsehole gives us shit about being there. I have all sorts of potentiol banter running through my head.
>>
>>29766904
Filthy bats stealing my mangoes and drinking my kool-aid.
>>
>>29766947
Well no the banter I had in mind was more saying we normaly think bats look good but the guy we are talking to is butt ugly. I would use more words then that though.
>>
>>29767150
>wanting to go to bar to harass Luna's finest

You'd be lucky if they will not drop us from the upper city's clouds to the ground.
>>
>>29767165
I would only do it if they started it.
More likely we would earn respect for our banter. Even if it pissed off the one guy we insulted.
>>
>>29767201
>More likely we would earn respect for our banter
You are really a special snowflake, aren't you?
That's some iFag-tier retardation.
>>
>>29767219
I don't know where you come from but where I come from if you can run verbal rings around an arsehole people admire you.
Do you mean to say you expect they all have some sort of strong bond? If that is the case then maybe it would be a bad idea to fuck with one but I rather doubt it. Besides Gust would be there to bail us out.
>>
>>29767235
Yes, and extremely strong bond, mind you. First, they are all ascended. Elite. Also they fought numerous battles together, so that makes for some bonding too. They will not take some random unicorn insulting them lightly.
And I doubt that Gust will be able to use her new wings to bail us out. While she is ascended, she is still a newcomer.
>>
>>29767244
My understanding is the bat ascension was a new thing. Even for the scions.
Probably a moot point anyway as it is unlikely there is a bat bar and if there is it is unlikely we will get the oportunity to say what I have in mind.

>>29767219
>iFag-tier retardation
We both live in the same place so maybe our idea of how people would react to banter is different to your idea.
>>
>>29767267
>both live in the same place
>>>

While ascension is new, it does not mean that bonding has not happened before. Ascension only reinforced the ties.
And Scions do not look like the ones who will spend their free time in bars.
>>
>>29767282
>And Scions do not look like the ones who will spend their free time in bars.
So more likely there are no strong bonds. I know if one of my mates was acting like an arse I would apreciate if somebody put him in his place.
More I think about it the more I doubt such a bar exists anyway.
>>
>>29767219
>That's some iFag-tier retardation.
I would say you are displaying some Coltquest-tier paranoia.
>>29767301
I think the bar most likely exists but I see no reason anybody would give us shit about going in there. The bartender would likely throw them out if they tried to keep it purely bat anyway.

Personally I still think the drinking crusade is some local event.
>>
We really do need to find out what sort of lies and propaganda celestia has been spreading so we can blend in at the prison. presumebly they all mostly believe Colth was razed (from an out of character perspective I do as well although I think we should remain unsure in character)
>>
>>29767530
She probably told her troops that Luna did all the things Celestia did but in reverse (shorter day instead of shorther night etc). Possibly not the closing the day court though she may want to give the impression that Luna is to lazy to handle that shit and planned to make that Celestias one remaining job.

Alternatively she may have not told anybody anything so she could pretend this all came as a surprise to her.
>>
I don't care about what you two dip shits are raving about, but are you assuming too much?
>>
>>29768111
You mean the bantering?
Nobody is expecting the setup required for it to happen will happen. but it is still fun to speculate
>I don't care
Clearly the 3 people engaged in the converstation do.
>>
I'm pretty sure we'll get our mug relocated if we'll start shit with the bats. Especially Scion bats.
>>
>>29762931
Wait, I know what we can do about acquiring some sawdust. We look for the closest lumbermill and ask we can sweep up all the wood shavings and bits of wood they may not want. Well it's most likely they'd want the little bits of wood for kindling for their fireplaces.
>>
>anon wants to start a fight with bats
Just.....just please stop iFag.

"Well, that makes sense." - you sighed - "Can't say that I approve it, but it makes sense."
"I'm glad you understand it." - Dawn replied, sounding surprisingly serious.
"Ah, and one more thing. My squadmate had mentioned leaving for something she called 'Great Drinking Crusade' and I was wondering if it is some kind of local festival or a bar here?"
"Oh, no." - Nightbringer chuckled - "While I do not know about every bar here, I doubt that there exists one with such name. I believe that your squadmate meant 'running around the city and visiting every bar one can find until running out of money or fainting'. I suspect the squadmate you were talking about is the ascended pegasus?"
"Well, yes." - you blushed a bit.
"I doubt you will be able to intercept her then. She is most probably in the Upper City, and moving there for a non-pegasus might prove difficult."
"But maybe you have an idea where she could be?" - you asked with a faint glimmer of hope - "Perhaps some bars frequented by the Guard?"
"Unfortunately, no. At least not in the Upper City. You could try to look for her at the 'Brawlpub'. About a year ago local tavernkeeper decided that since he can not prevent drunken fights, he might as well try to profit on them. Basically, you can participate in brawls, just watch them, or even make some bets. And as you could have already guessed, most of the participants are guards on a day off."
"Shouldn't the higher-ups dissaprove of such activities?" - you sceptically inquired.
"They prefer to turn a blind eye on it. Since they have a squad of well-trained medics on duty, there were no serious injuries - at least as far as I can tell. Plus, it keeps the drunken guards busy in a sort-of training combat instead of running around the city and sowing chaos. And of course, since it is a popular establishment, the city treasury reaps a good profit from it."

Your actions?
>>
>>29768813
Might as well go and check it out.
>>
>>29768813
Bets? Fighting? Gambling? HMMMMMMMMMM

Then again we could be reading up on the cryomancers book. Decisions decisions.
>>
So what do you guys think? Fight Club or reading time with Arcane?
>>
>>29769299
Now you have me conflicted. I want to spend time with Arcane but also get into a fight. Out of the two I think we do less reading than fighting, so go and be a bookworm.
>>
>>29769424
Bookworm it is!
>>
>>29768813
It sounds tempting but I do wonder if I should be avoiding gambling right now, I do have a bit of a problem. On the other hoof maybe having gambling right in front of me is somethimg I need to get used to. I am really low on cash right now since the journey to get Word here was considered secret enough we had to pay for our own tents and I ended up spending more then perturbation gave me for a Gift for Word so there is little to lose anyway If I do relapse.

Lets thank Dawn for his time and go to this brawlbar. Just to watch for now maybe we can decide to fight when we get there.
>>
>>29769299
We are unlikely to learn anything useful from the book in the short span of time before our mission. We should at least go to the brawlbar for a few hours then throw our head in a book when we get back.
>>
>>29769842
Come to think of it maybe we should fight.Injury might help our cover if it looks like we had to fight for Word. We should decide once we get there though.
>>
No brawls tonight. Just go and learn new shit.
>>
>>29769925
Do you mean observe fights or go study our book?
>>
>>29749956
I feel now would be a good time to point out this. It is not nesecary yet but it looks like it may become so.
>>
>>29770052
Study our book.
>>
How about we go to the bar and if Gust is not there we go home.
>>
>>29768813

>>
>>29771025
Are you saying get smart or get smashed
>>
>>29771837
Dammit. I was trying to say that with a Brooklyn accent. I was trying to say smart.
>>
10
>>
>>29771882
Yeah I assumed as such but since in this situation get smashed is a viable option I thought it best to get a clarification, especialy considering the slav qm.
>>
Tough. Go study and maybe learn something, or go to a Brawlpub and try to get some bits to pay our debt? Hmmm
>>
We should study our book. There's no sense in risking our hide or dwindling cash on bar crawling.
>>
>>29749956
Although thinking about it it may be unwise to start a full session like that because half your players seem to show up halfway through a session.

"I see. Thanks again for... for everything. I need to go now, if you don't mind."
"It was a pleasure to help. May Moon watch over you." - Dawn slightly bowed his head and you left the church.

After briefly considering your options, you decided to return to the castle. There was no way you could catch Gust even in the Lower City. Perhaps, she did not know about the 'Brawlpub' yet, and even if she was there, you did not want to be involved in local activities - at least for now. You did not have even fifteen bits and were not too eager to waste them, which you suspected you would most probably end up doing, conaidering your unhealthy fondness of gambling. Gust was a grown-up mare and could care for herself after all. Or at least you hoped so.

There was no certain way to say how much time passed since you woke up, but your inner clock told you that there is at least half a day left when you reached your nee housing. You were preparing to enter your room, when a thought came to your mind.

Last Word would most probably ask about your visist to psychologist and you doubted that she will approve of you visiting Argent Dawn, and you certainly did not want to lie to her.
On the other hoof, Arcane might not want anyone even staying in a room with him now, though perhaps you were overestimating his irritability.

Your actions?
>>
>>29773912
Is the book with us or in the room? If it is with us we should go back to the library to read. As long as we pass out on a desk we will not have to deal with either problem. Even if we are only reading as an excuse to not sleep in our room tonight.

If it is in the room I say we try to sneak into there without Word noticing so we can grab the book and do the above. If we get caught we will just have to deal with the consequences.
>>
>>29773943
I say we do none of those. Sneaking is suspicious, and i don't want a by one wondering where we went.
>>29773912
Oh that's right. She's still scared of them because of the massacre. Yeah let's just go back to our shared room with her.
>>
>>29774222
*any body wondering
>>
>>29774222
It took me way to long to work out you meant scared of the nightbringers.
>>
>>29774249
Remember? She was scared shitless when we came to our senses? Massacre + heavy armor with scary aesthetics (skull helmet) + death knells of people she was just talking too. Yeah. Scared.
>>
>>29774259
It did not help that she did not know what they were up to, at the time she did not know they were bad. She did not want us to turn out to be a bad pony who killed innocents. She probably is still a little unerved by it even after finding out they were enemies largly because unlike most ponies she has seen us kill there was no armor which can make things look like a senseless slaughter.
>>
>>29773215
Wow rude.
>>
>>29773912
Don't be a lil bitch digger. No go out there, and go to your shared room with Last.
>>
>>29768391
I think you misunderstood what anon was saying. He did not want to start a fight, he was considering a hypothetical situation where a bat started a fight with us.
>>
>>29773912
>Arcane might not want anyone even staying in a room with him now, though perhaps you were overestimating his irritability.
Well I hope we doesn't mind Gust bunking with him tonight, because she'll have to sleep somewhere. He can bitch all he wants when she gets here cuz she's sleeping in that room.
>>
>>29774447
Arcane is probably more powerful than some drunk bat, bro.
>>
>>29774459
And? If he's so powerful then he would conjure up some noise muffling spell. If he doesn't no how they he should get some ear plugs.
>>
>>29774494
Why you want to annoy him so much.
>>
>>29774512
Because Arcane is a fuckboy and crybaby and needs to be bullied into submission.
>>
>>29774512
What.
All anon is saying is it was already determined Gust would be sharing a room with Arcane. So he is gonna have to put up with her.
>>
>>29774512
It's not about annoying him. It's about him cheeking his privileges. Now if he doesn't want to bunk with a drunk bat then he can bunk with Last, if Last doesn't mind. Then again, she preferred us over the others. Would he really do that to her?
>*puppy eyes*
>>
>>29774551
Well, out of the many possibilities I'd prefer if Rime would be with Last than Arcane or God forbid Gust.
>>
>>29774560
Why would we not want to share a bed with our marefriend.
>>
>>29774580
>wants to share a bed with a a drunk snoring bat that reeks of alcohol and probably vomit
I jeez anon I hadn't really thought about it like that.
>>
>>29774652
Oh sorry I thought you were talking in general.
Thinking about it though we should take her off his hands our study is unlikely to achive anything for months while he may be able to improve his powers over these few days. He needs a quite environment more then we do.
>>
>>29774666
Muffle spell anon. Maybe he has a middle spell. We will decide on what we will do when we get there. And you do not know that Rime will not make any progress with her arcanic education. Jack, maybe Arcane and Rime could be temporary study buddies. They could make flash cards and quiz each other and have a good ol nerdy time.
>>
>>29774666
Hey, Satan.
His only concern is saving his brother, so the knowledge he would get will not help us. Also, Rime is still pretty reluctant to use star magic, so again his research is mostly useless to us.
>>
>>29774707
I don't know what your point is and how it relates to the current discussion, but ok.
>>
>>29774694
>We will decide on what we will do when we get there
Probably a good idea. I would not be surprised if Gust does not even show up tonight
>>
>>29774758
The point is that Rime will profit from her own study more than from Arcane's
>>
>>29774758
he is saying arcanes current studys have no combat potentiol or usefullness in war. I doubt that is the case though.
>>
As far as I can see, there is 1 vote for library and 1 for your room.
>>
>>29774813
Make it two for room.
>>
>>29774813
Room. We goin to our room boi. The library won't let us sleep in there.
>>
>>29774841
They probably would if we passed out reading. Still looks like the people have spoken. Bedroom it is.
>>
>>29774822
>>29774841
>>29774845
>>29774426

Well, you certainly did not want to bother Arcane right now, so you decided to read in your own room for a while and hope that Last Word will not bother you with questions about your recent visit.
"Oh, hey, Frosty." - filly greeted you as soon as you opened the door - "So, how did your visit go?"
Well, damn.

Your actions?
>>
>>29774894
We feel relieved. It was a pretty nice thing to do, go and talk with a specialist, share our feelings and receive a professional response.

We should hug the filly and don't mention that this specialist was Argent Dawn.
>>
>>29774902
This.
If she asks exactly where we went tell her it was to the nightbringers as they were all we would be able to get on short notice. Tell her they are not that bad when they bring out the compasion. Although we still do not agree with some of what they do.

Again only say this if she presses us for information.

Tell her she should make sure she never becomes as much of an alcoholic as Gust is. We are honestly a little worried about her. Going off like this this close to an important mission. Hopefully she does not injure herself in some drunken brawl
>>
>>29774923
Also after we say this we should ask her what her favourite kind of booze is it could be useful information.
>>
>>29774894
What's up kiddo? What to read this complicated grimore with us?
