***READ THE GUIDE***
For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions as there is a chance it has already been answered there.
For those unfamiliar, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.
If you're new, you're gonna fuck up. Don't worry! If you're experienced, don't make the new people worry!
>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Try being specific, especially about your materials and process. Post pictures whenever possible; even if the kit/part looks bad, you are more likely to get help posting pictures.

Our next Group Build!
Basically what this means is that rather than the mobile suit being fresh out of a factory, it's quite the opposite. Whether it's trudging through dense jungles or dodging debris in asteroid belts, your mobile suit has seen some better days.
You've been out in the field for quite a long time now, nearly half a year of active duty in the front lines and your personal mobile suit's pretty banged up. What's worse is the fact that there isn't a maintenance bay within several thousand kilometers of your local area that's capable of making any major repairs. Your unit's engineering crew has resorted to patch work and jury-rigging to keep your machine operational. Stray fire might have crippled its legs and arms or otherwise dealt considerable damage to a mobile suit's systems meanwhile some units have simply lost bits of armor and panels to the elements and have been forced to patch weld metal sheets over the exposed inner workings.
In any case it's beaten to hell but somehow you and your team have somehow kept it chugging along and now command's ordered all units operating in your theatre to fall back to form a defensive line against the enemy offensive.

Should I just get a loan from the bank now. So I'm ready if the neograde Gouf Custom ever becomes available. Because my body is ready.
That's some cool shit, man. Do you have more WIP pics? I'm really into the process of this kind of thing since I want to get into it myself.
What are you using for filling/sculpting?
Finished my first gunpla! I love grunt units so the Graze was a perfect choice.
Not the guy you're replying to, but I prefer the Stark Jegan to the vanilla Jegan. It's the addition of the front skirt that really makes it for me, since the vanilla Jegan just seems so empty in the middle section.
Jeganbros, mind telling me if this equipment set on the Jegan seems ok? I will be taking off the nubs on the missiles, just didn't have time yet. Also on the colors. Nobody responded when I posted previously and I'd like a second opinion please.
I like it, though that might be because I always had a thing for gatling shields. Maybe try to find a bigger shield though? And personally, I'd ditch the cannons on the left arm or swap 'em for the Gouf Custom's triple barrel cannon. That's just my thoughts though.
The shoulder missile pods are a nice touch. Can never have too many missiles.
Colour scheme looks good. Will you top coat it with flatcote or glosscote?
File down a flat spot for the missile pods to attach? Or use different pods that aren't as large? Personally I think it's fine. Just say the pods are self discarding. They fire off their load and then detach, lightning the load overall.
Welcome to the Gunpla Club! Now you can shitpost with the rest of us.
I don't think so. As for colors, the green looks good. What if you changed the yellow thrusters and missiles to red?
Right now he's using blue-tack to stick the missile pods on. If he does that, he'll have to drill some holes in the legs and make some pegs for the missiles to slide in. He'll have to split the legs open and reinforce the holes so they'll be more sturdy with a polycap secured inside with epoxy putty.
This is Jegan anon. Basically I'll try and see what weapons I can swap the little shooter with, maybe melee. I like the gatling shield, and don't frankly have too many other shields to give it. The only other option would be the Jegan's own shield or Genoace 2 shield.
As for missile pods, I'm hesitant to totally alter the legs to make them fit. Not skilled at sculpting whatsoever, I can handle a pin vise well but I'm just now learning to seam weld and paint, much less reform things. Scary to destroy the whole leg, you get me? Lots of detail that's erased. So I'll check into that first by just mounting them on the legs how they are currently, and decide from there what to do.
Jegan anon trying the red color instead of yellow. And perhaps the missiles can be side skirts? They're square and blocky like that general part of the Jegan. I'd just drill some pegs into their "under" portion and slot that in.
Gouf Custom is so damn sexy it really won't matter what you do with it.
Wish I had a spring break free to work on some backlog, but I'm working as a field camp TA....gotta get some fucking money to buy my own Gouf kit.
Like I said, I think it's fine as is, the only thing that really bothers me is that the double barrel cannon just feels too underwhelming. I feel the triple barrel would fit better, being that it's an actual weapon with a mag housing and everything. Like what you got currently just looks like two barrels super glued to the forearm.
Judging by the size of the missile pods, I'd say they stand out too much attached to the side skirts like that. It would limit where you could put the arms, first. Like you couldn't do a standing at attention pose, or "waiting to be sortied" pose, as the hands wouldn't be able to rest at the side, they'd have to either be raised slightly forward or off to the side pods. They fit well on the shoulders. They don't interfere with posability there.
Again, these are just my thoughts on the subject. Individual results may vary.
I see, just wanted to throw out the idea as skirts. Ok, so I'll see what I can do whenever I have time and update. Do you agree on the red color, should I go to orange or yellow again? Flat coating for the record.
may i ask where you got that gatling shield from?
I'm not him, but I've got an X. The foil is actually thick paper. You put it into the white parts of the cannon then you put some clear plastic over it and it looks really good. One down side though is the white part you put the foil inside of has a honey comb design in it, so when you sandwich the foil in there it can bend or distort. If I could go back I'd putty the inside up until it was a flat surface, then put the foil on.
Yea, you'll have no issues. Also try painting the inside of the clear parts on the main body. They're kind of dim, so a bright metallic silver on the inside really helps them pop. Good luck.
I'm starting to panel line my RG and i think i'm starting to get the hand of it
the purple parts right? i was scared painting them would ruin the clearness, but i was told to do the same for the clear chest, to paint the inside part atleast chrome/silver
I think he means the green chest part, not sure how well that would work for the purple.
It looks great regardless thanks to the pattern molded in the clear pieces.
Paint the grey piece underneath instead of the back of the clear green piece.
Some of the clear purple like the shoulders doesn't have any inner surface to paint with chrome.
>saw people posting the MGs in the previous thread
>sudden urge to buy them but still have backlog and already made a large purchase this month
does anyone know where you can buy/find the weapon kit in the top left?
Grimgerde looks fucking great. Minimal stickers only for head and grey on the shields, swords arent just molded in one part, exposed frame like the Barbatos, and that red just looks amazing.
Fuck, I need it. Anyone else gonna pick it up?
Take your time, have patience and go for overall look rather than detail
I have better, here's Model Graphix professional modeller Toukaimura Genpachi's website and the page detailing his fight against cancer
Maybe he should have used a mask
>Working on RG Zaku II I got as a gift from a friend
>Holy hell this thing is wonderfully detailed
>Get to the leg tubes, each rung is a separate piece strung together by an underneath tube
>The end caps for this under-tube are already tiny but one of their pegs is long and near microscopically thin
>Snap the second one I touch off at the base, making it non-functional
>Well shit that sucks, I guess I have to go buy model glue and hope that it'll work on something so tiny
>Decide to continue for now anyway and go to cut of the matching piece for the other leg
>Extra extra careful because I know its fragile
>Snaps anyway, I swear it snapped just from me holding the sprue
Fuck. It's not like I have giant fat hotdog fingers either.
Can't wait to see what you make of it. Wish it wasn't such a pain in the ass to order one in murica. EBay sellers jack the price up, and international sellers it's a language barrier currency conversion shipping cluster fuck.
They don't show the metal barrel in the full part spread. Do they package is separately?
Looks like the Dreamcast metal parts but that extra sight cable might be custom.
What should my next kit be given my current collection? Im officially hooked on gunpla after finishig the kampfer
>EBay sellers jack the price up
Except the one listed on ebay will be much cheaper than ordering it off taobao with a middleman since you're paying for domestic shipment, internation shipment and a middleman fee.
Not him, but I wouldn't say painting is a requirement. Not everyone can afford all the tools required to paint, and not everyone has the same circumstances that would allow them to paint. Some people are fine with just cutting the parts out, working on the nubs, maybe panel lining and then assembling.
Am I going to deny that painting, even just a simple topcoat, can make a model look infinitely better? No, I won't, because it can.
It's the people like Snapfag-kun who don't even put the work in to work on nubs or lining make us other casual builders look bad. So if the person you replied to is content with his kits and just wants to build more, let him. Don't go all autist and say "Nuh uh do this or you're not doing it right!". And now I'm not the biggest proponent of the whole "gunpla is freedom" meme, but in the end this is a hobby where, outside of following the build manual (and even then you don't necessarily always have to) there is absolute freedom in what you can do with your kits. So, again, if he's fine with how his things look, even if it's not up to your standards, and he didn't ask about paint, why not actually reply to his question instead of replying like an autist with only a set amount of responses?
Hey, I just finished an MG Victory Gundam, and I'm having the hardest time with the leg to hip connection. I can't believe how poor it is for an MG. There's no click or anything. Like the whole leg will fall off if I so much as pick the kit up much less pose it. I tightened it a little with some cement but I'm still having tons of issues with it. Is there an actual fix for this outside of just "glue it into the position you want then never touch it"?
Can anyone tell me what sd model this is? Whenever I search it, google gives me a different model. Is this a mod or something?
Does anyone have the hg messala, and more specifically a picture of it next to the Mk II or something? I want to get a better idea of it's size than all these shitty google images are showing me.
Dalong.net. It's not the Mark II, but this should give you an idea.
If it helps, Gundam Mk. II is 18.5 meters tall and the Messala is 30.3 meters tall. So if you can get something with those kinds of dimensions and compare them you should have an answer.
But my point is that you get more spending wise on buying tools to make your current kits look better. I am not forcing a casual builder to get an air brush. At most, I ask casual builders to get a set of paint markers, a fine brush, and a bottle of rubbing alcohol.
>the next day of the surgery, but I get by far finally, nurses are the other half surprise to Eija! I unplug Innovation, but severe pain here. Most of the cry in this series of disease. Guess we're getting more Grimgerdes?
As someone who owns both the MG 2.0 and the RG Char's Zaku II, I'd say the MG 2.0 is better.
The RG has more surface detail, but posing the RG hands is a pain, while the MG 2.0 has my favourite hands to pose with out of any kit I've seen so far. Plus the RG has it's shoulders further from the torso creating a noticeable gap that's a bit off-putting.
The RG also has problems with skirt armour flying off when trying to pose that the MG doesn't seem to come across at all.
Most of the time I would agree that the RG's are the best variants, but not so much with the Zaku II as that's one of the first RG's before they really started to nail the line.
I think you are right, it look like is a modified Graze frame, but not 100% sure
Oh, neat. Didn't know that there were pictures of the inner frame already before I made my post. Been excited for the thing since news of it first cropped up, so I'm glad Bandai didn't go the cheap way out.
>Drop one of the ear pieces for 1/144 HeavyArms Custom while disassembling it for seamwelding
>Have a blue wall-to-wall carpet
Well fuck this is gonna take a while
They are similar, but in the end it looks like is a unique frame
the Nu, Hi Nu, and Sazabi are all really well done imo. Pretty much all of the ones Unicorn are well done. My personal favorites that I have are Xi, Command, and Zero. Here's a pic of my Command, I plan to touch it up with some paint one of these days but I've been busy with other kits for a while now.
Any recommendations for 0.2mm airbrushes for shading as well as 0.5mm airbrushes for priming/top coating. I know a few companies such as badger have interchangeable needle sizes in a kit etc, but would like to see what ppl would recommend.
Fuck the guy who though having stickers for hand detail is a good idea.
Anyone want to swap stories of builds gone horribly wrong?
A manga version GM Thunderbolt had less than-stellar plastic quality on the brown faux-rubber parts and had the armor pegs come off during cutting from the parts trees.
My nippers and hobby knife both broke apart during assembly of the 1/144 NG Turn X, which has left me with 8 other HG kits un-assembled (not counting seven HGBF option parts).
Doesn't matter if its Hyaku Shiki HG remaster or RG Hyaku Shiki. Just hurry up and give us something shiny and glossy.
Hows MG 2.0?
it's the HGUC Zaku FZ. The only downside is the mono-eye cant move.
It comes with 2 heads and can
he'll never do it, he's some autist who lives at home
if he can't take the effort to make a life for himself, why would he make any effort in assembling gunpla?
Does anybody know if I'd be able to put all the Armed Armor parts on the Banshee Norn at once? Also, is it possible to recolor clear parts using a metallic gundam marker or sharpie?
I was planning on getting the regular banshee and Norn in destroy mode and putting them all on the norn, using something to color all the psychoframe parts green. For the normal banshee I'd keep it pretty much like the regular unicorn's layout and recolor the psychoframe red.
yes you can. im working on a an armed armor Unicorn plan B right now, and i am basically finding out where i can buy shit before i delve balls deep in kitbash hell
I'm literally speechless. How can these be displayed with pride? How much fucking money am I looking at?
Shit, I'm even worse at building gunpla, but at least I make an attempt to panel line them (even if the end result resembles dalong). I wouldn't even try displaying these unless I touched them up somehow.
if you have trouble panel lining, try buying the pour style gunpla markers (GM301, GM302 and GM303 iirc), then using a qtip with a drop or two of isopropyl alcohol to clean off the excess after a minute
After looking into it myself you''d need:
>Banshee Norn (~$90)
>FA Unicorn (~$80)
You can get a resin conversion phenex kit off taobao to shave off a good portion of the price but you'd be losing out on the blue psychoframe. It's a real bullshit build unless you can settle for 1/144.
>tfw no dom revive(the old one still can do things)
>tfw no zeta or hyaku-shiki revive
>tfw no others kits than ibo
i don't care too much about the IBO kits but bandai keeps launching new ones and ignore everything they have, wasted potential why its so painful
>tfw you want another kit of shit that's been remade countless times as it is
You're lame, man. IBO's got some great kits. At least ask for some shit that doesn't exist, like a leo or a xamel.
You'd have to get the phenex anyway so you'd have the majority of the frame in blue, and the only things you'd have to worry about are the norn's mane and claws.
Here's some links to conversion parts for the 1/100 so you don't have to spend boat loads on P-bandai's or the phenex
Norn Conversion parts
Armed armor DE
thanks! i hope to start working on this when classes die down
During a long build I reached the gloss stage and wanted to test out some new products. Not realizing that Alclad topcoats are enamels and not lacquers like their paints, I coated them in it. When I went to give them an oil wash later the enamel ate right through it and made every part a sticky mess and I had to strip everything and start over.
Pretty shit. Some have improved articulation though and they are fairly cheap.
It's not just the gaps, they lack gimmicks their BB releases had (Standard gimmicks inherint to the ms itself like WZC's buster rifle being able to seperate or Unicorn being able to swap modes). They also lack clear parts on ones like exia and the weapons especially are terrible. Like, 80's 1/144 NG thing solid flat piece terrible.
And in exchange for losing the gimmicks, they have much sharper molds. SDs are almost completely incapable of doing any real poses anyways unless you kitbash some HG parts on, so all a decent SD kit really needs is to look alright.
And they do.
>MG Origin ver RX78
>dat pop-up chest gatling
Oh look at the old SD BB WZC, it can separate its guns. Too bad they look like complete shit.
Meanwhile if you are above the baseline competence of just snapping pieces together (which is absolutely expected for serious SD builders, because that shit is supposed to take work) it's trivially easy to separate out the new EX Standard WZC's buster rifle.
Also complaining about the new SD Exia in comparison to the original is so lacking in perspective it's hilarious.
Especially if we're talking weapons.
>the version i wanted
to lazy to paint...
I believe the idea is that the Graze is supposed to be descended from the Grimgerde's Valkyria-type Frame. The Schawlbe Graze itself is a variant of the yet-unseen Prototype Graze rather than an off-shot of the Standard-Issue Graze. The show has established that technology has remained relatively stable throughout the 300 years following the end of the Calamity War. It seems like Gjallarhorn having a monopoly on Ahab Reactor and mobile suit production has caused technological innovation to stagnate by a lot. Hyakuri and Hyakuren are themselves just Calamity War-era designs retooled by Teiwaz and given 300-year old refurbished Ahab Reactors. lol
There needs to be more purple gundams. If he ever gets restocked, I want to try this color scheme.
Well, I suppose that's a drawback of trying to cram a bunch of MG and PG style details, parts separation and gimmicks in a 1/144 scale kit; you end up with a lot of tiny ass parts that can easily fall off. The regular HG kits don't have this type of problem since you don't have as much parts, but at the cost of having not as much detail. It's inevitable, given the really small scale they have to work with.
seems simple enough just two tone purples? reminds me alot of the X2.
Maybe Chars, Ral is great but i already have a Gouf for him, and Dozle is the best but i dont think i could do that trimming.
shame Swaggard from Zeonic Front didnt have a scheme and the Tri-Stars didnt really customize theirs.
It also wouldnt be too hard to transpose other Ace's color schemes to make a Dom variant.
I could see let's say Cima going through upgrades to eventually arrive at the Gelgoog Marine Commander.
Could just make one up as well.
So apparently this was slated for a Summer 2007 release. I've never seen anyone talk about this on here before nor have I ever seen any other photos of this thing. It looks official though. I dunno man, I love the Barzam but holding onto the hope that they'd eventually make one was somehow better than the idea that they made one and then withheld it indefinitely.
was looking up designs and found this, was always sad that Try teased the Dom and in the end we got a shittier god gundam
They don't lose just the gimmicks. They lose part separation (Which makes them far more of a pain in the ass to paint due to all the masking) and non-toothpick weapons (Seriously, just look at the rifles in your pick and compare them).
What do you expect from kits marketed to casuals? Not to SD builders but to the US audience that the line is solely sold in, your average American buyers don't really give a shit about painting so Bandai probably thinks they can skimp out since there's most likely nothing to compare it to in brick and mortar shops.
>it's trivially easy to separate out the new EX Standard WZC's buster rifle.
The same applies to them as the gaps on the ex standards, just fill in with putty. They even made the gaps in a way that if you fill them you get the correct detail.
Meanwhile look at the enormous gap on the ex-standard. It's also no just a simple cut to separate them and they are not intended to be separated and have supports you will instead need to saw through. The gap also completely erases any detail and you will have to add it back in yourself even after puttying it.
And because of the stupid "Combine everything and put this crappy weapon on your HG!" gimmick that ex-standard are pushing it has big ugly pegs sticking out of it.
The old one has a shorter blade, but the gun and handle aren't super thin and the shield on the original doesn't stick out hilariously far.
Seriously, the line is a disappointment in everything but proportions and in some articulation. It happens, just move on.
>big ugly pegs sticking out of it.
Reminds me of the 2014 summer HG customize campaign weps all having this dumb holes so you could link them together to make a really dumb looking mega weapon that one one in their right mind would realistically ever build or use.
That's actually not true, you can get pretty decent poses out of pretty much the entire BB Legend line as well as some recent regular BB Senshis
I don't get why you love SD Ex-Standards so much man, they're just an all-around step back
Fuck, I noticed that it was at ~1/116 about a week ago and was hoping to ship out my stuff when the yen got weaker, but I guess I'll be waiting a while longer.
I don't think I've ever seen anyone fuck up a Qubeley as badly as these guys have.
Well, that was the major drawback at first, yeah, but recent RGs are pretty solid, have the inner frame detail, the surface detal, good colour separation, and nice proportions.
I have the PG Wing Zero and I would have much preferred to have gotten the RG. I think the biggest problems with the RGs is the 3 and 1 finger hands that aren't great for posing and also not great for holding weapons outside of sometimes beam sabers. Even then, though, they still usually come with additional hands to hold specific weapons.
It's just that the early RG formula wasn't quite perfected yet, maybe still not quite, but they've certainly gotten a lot better.
I don't know why dudes post images from reviews, and then not link the actual review.
Hi! I only have my G-Reco kits up there atm.
Yea nah fucking stupid. Replace the whole shoulder pauldron, not some bonked panel that a new one probably wouldn't fit back in the corresponding cavity if it were warped and damaged, where it'd end up getting replaced altogether, proving my point. It's just random lines for more srsnotquiterealismic panels. And overall styling is overdone and faggy anyways.
This. It looks like some grim 90s comic book version of the Couf Custom. Gouf Custom is great because it manages to look intimidating enough without ten million panel lines and that fucking angry eyebrow monoeye.
I honestly don't know what to think of the Grimgerde. On one hand I like the head design and the monoeye, but what the fuck is up with that blue mouth camera? And those huge fucking shoulders and bulging cock plate? The arm shields with swords are cool, but the orange blades look tacky as fuck even though I'll paint them anyway.
Half this kit makes my dick hard but then I see something else that ruins it.
I thought it was pretty clear; ah well. Just asking for those who've already build the MG DX, does it have the same problems with the backpack and arms as the HG, where the shoulders would push onto the backpack if put back enough?
Is this legit? Something doesn't seem right that it's 100 dollars cheaper than other sites plus free shipping.
If you are OK with waiting a month for it to get to you, like SAL.
Also, I don't know what it is about the Hong Kong Post, but I've never gotten anything from Hong Kong that wasn't dented to all fuck. The contents inside are fine 90% of the time but the box is always fucked up.
Chinese shipping agencies rarely care all that much about their packages, just moving them fast. its unfortunate that international shipping from places like AliExpress and Taobao are so slow, inside of Asia shipping is crazy fast. i once ordered a cellphone from the manufacturer's website and their local distributor had it delivered at my office within 14 hours.
So I just bought Tamiya acrylics for the first time at the LHS. They didn't have any thinner for it in stock though. I have Testors brand thinner, will that be alright? I also have water if needed.
how would you fucking know? you don't paint anything anyway
I have legit never samefagged. You people are insane.
If Allelujah replied to Hallelujah, is that a (You)?
Yo what is that green one in the lower left corner?
I want that.
Just finished MG heavyarms! This guys pretty fun to pose
I plan to have a team of five mobile suits(probably MGs) but im torn between having a team covering different styles like having master gundam and zeta, but part of me also wants a team of tank like mobile suits. Leaning towards tank team that would include guntank, gundam mark 2 and buster gundam (plus my current heavy arms). Thoughts on a better tank team? I cant think of a fifth one
how are mr nipper? im putting order in for some super clear and since hobbywave does flat shipping i'd thought i'd add more and i'd like real nippers and that's really the only ones they have
The dedicated modeling nippers like Xuron 218Es(or whatever they are), Mr. Hobby, and Tamiya sharp cutters are all significantly better than your generic 10 dollars nipper. I haven't used Mr. Hobby nippers myself but I've heard they're as good as Tamiya ones, which I have and am very happy with.
futaba got their own Grimgerde thread now.
You do remember that the Gouf, like all MS, are retardedly gigantic, right?
It makes more sense to fabricate smaller panels of armor at a time to stick them on, rather than one massive single-form one that would be an ass to make just once, much less in any semblance of mass-production or even in a reasonable span of time.
Jesta Cannon/GM Cannon
Hi-v with HWS/Dual Gundam Assault shroud (Emphasis on armor)
Full Armor Gundam
Full Armor ZZ/FAZZ
RX-78-5 if you can find one
All MGs that in some way or another have tank-like qualities. The 1/100 Virtue isnt too bad either.
If a Gouf was hit in the shoulder with an explosive warhead or beam weapon, the heat would melt, warp, and fuse the metal together, not to mention the impact of a solid warhead itself warping it from sheer force. Whatever bolts or fasteners you're using to attach it to the frame would get fucked. You wouldn't be able to swap it out, you would have to replace the entire shoulder anyway because you would not be able to remove it/would have to remove several panels even though they aren't as damaged because now they're all joined together.
A single solid piece makes much more sense.
Thanks! Jesta looks like itd fit in more than the mark 2, and the leopard gundam looks pretty kick ass. Heres what I have so far
-guntank (maybe early version)
-tie between jesta and rx78 mark 5
>>tfw no dom revive
That's not impossible, is it? I mean, even the Gyan got a Revive (albeit that's to replace its old as shit and just as shitty old HGUC kit).
I would have assumed they'd hit all of the basic MSG suits, including the Zaku II (yes, another Zaku) and Dom. Possibly the Gelgoog (at least Char's).
Though it would be utter madness if they could squeeze out a Revive Acguy or Z'gok. I'm not even sure how they'd do that.
There was a Gouf R35, then Origin Gouf. Now there will be a Revive Goof.
There is now an Origin Dom. Revive Dom soon. Probably next year.
Honestly I don't care, the old Dom kit is already decent. I want a Revive Gelgoog.
Solid build with too good frame.
It fell off my shelf and it held together well.
The gold is good but some parts are not undergated but it is hidden when assembled.
Very basic with nothing remarkable of it. I think it is agood build after I went through hell with the MG V Dash ver Ka
Which would win a in a duel? Zaku I Sniper or a GM Sniper?
It would probably be close, but I'd give it to zaku 1 just because I'm partial to that unit. Nice haul overall. The 2 koto shields are for an Armored core angi kit.
What makes it garbage? Zaku 1 a cool
Yeah, I was more interested in the construction, if anyone had any input. I know many MGs have wonky ankles.
That's a little outside of what I'd be willing to pay for my toys.
There's a third party plastic kit made by Dragon Momoko that's about the same price as the normal MG; it has pretty positive reviews with the exception of plastic on plastic joints. I'm still waiting on mine but a few other people in the thread have one.
