Blade's movie riders. It's where we got our leader from.
Caucasus would have been cool if he had more than just a movie. THey had a good idea: Nicely suited kung-fu Rider who talks about roses a lot, it's basically a Rider perfect for the show.
Instead he pops up in a movie about two whole times, and the second time he does he gets his ass kicked.
>Episode 5 of Hibiki up on Metronome subs' site
Man I wish Metronome was faster with the subs, but it seems like it's just one guy who does a fantastic job with localizations and explaining shit with translator's notes. I'm really loving the series itself too.
Just out of curiosity, why does everyone say that it goes to shit after episode 30? What about the retool fucks it up? This is my first time watching this series and I refuse to look into TV-N's subs.
Keeping it in tags for others because it's got some spoilers:
Pretty much most of the non-acting staff is dropped, Takatera is told off, they rewrite most of the plot, they fuck up most of Asumu's character development in order to develop a piece of shit annoying rival, even taking away parts of what would have been Asumu's own unique suit to make the rival's suit, making an actually important end-point just a random episode, and making an even worse OP. Pretty sure they get rid of Shonen Yo as well. Oh, and Inoue writes most of it.
they fuck up most of Asumu's character development in order to develop a piece of shit annoying rival,
Oh fuck I'm not looking forward to this now.
The entire Rider's design is based on mix-and-match beyond even OOO's design. The Den-Gasher can form five (technically six) different weapons, and all the suit parts can form entirely new armors sans the helmet.
They didn't rewrite the plot, but flushed out the original mid-season plot which was replaced by the Kurenai plot.
They didn't changed Asumu because he has been decided NOT TO BE AN ONI since episode 3. The HBV is to make up for the decision.
It's too bad they had to go and give Wing a new belt. I think seeing Wing Form for the first time would have been cool if it was part of the base Den-O suit. Like, imagine watching the series prior to the first appearance of Sieg and Wing and trying to figure out what all the extra parts are and then seeing Wing.
>They didn't changed Asumu because he has been decided NOT TO BE AN ONI since episode 3
Even though it's been confirmed multiple time that
Kyoki[/'spoiler]'s armor was improved by taking parts from the suit that would be Asumu's Oni form. Besides, a main way to confirm who an Oni is the fact they all have alliterative names, like Asumu Adachi
One thing I didn't expect to enjoy about the series at first, but wound up liking a lot, is the fact that very little of the action of the episodes so far is actually about fighting monsters. It's very heavily focused on character relationships and development (reminds me a lot of Kuuga, actually), and all the characters are very believable and likeable. Also the fact that Asumu and Hibiki's sides of the story for each episode parallels each other very deliberately.
And now it seems like that's all going to get fucked up past the retool.
Kabuto, Decade and >>13761535. He's also responsible for Smile Precure, one of the things that drove Magenta nuts. On the bright side, he somehow made Monster Rancher good, until he ruined it with season 3.
The transitions here are weird, to say the least.
The question "When are you going to make me an Oni?" Tochihara asked at the interview compilation event already answer the question.
There was no plan for making him to be an Oni in the first place. The name thing only happened during brainstorm stage, and got bumped out by production decision.
Can you not read?
Asumu was going to get an Oni form, because surprise, characters can develop into having new views on things over time. When they started designing Kyoki, they decided to scrap Asumu's suit for parts to use for Kyoki to improve it further.
I put this in the Kamen Rider Ghost release thread, so i should put it here as well. Ghost/Necrom poster from Uchusen Magazine.
>>No he is NOT.
>the production team later confirmed that both of them were supposed to have become Oni, but it was ultimately decided that Asumu would not, and Asumu's Oni suit was scrapped for parts to enhance Kiriya's Oni suit.
Maybe if you've only ever seen Drive, sure.
Let's not pretend episodes like
>Faiz in general
>Any episode that focuses on ZaBee
>Almost any episode that focuses on Ryutaros
>Time travelling self-abortion
>Most of Wizard
>"Kouta lost his resolve, cried, and out of pity, Sagara gave him an upgrade" episode #89
What is your favorite Rider?
>worst episodes in Kamen Rider
I bet Wizard and Hibiki has more
>Not knowing that Precures are the little sisters of justice
A lot of those sound like you never watched most of those shows, and instead decided to parrot whatever you heard on this general, completely ignoring the context of those episodes.
>getting this upset because someone doesn't like Drive
Staff went for Kurenai because 1) they ran out of time (and money) for CGI monster and 2) they need to push Hibiki's drum set. It was a dumb move because it literally killed the original plot where Asumu actually went visit the Takeshi home base, found out Mochi's role in the organization, met his rival, and officially become Hibiki's sidekick.
>A lot of those sound like you never watched most of those show
Says someone who's never watched Kuuga, Agito, Faiz, Kabuto, Den-O, Kiva, W, Wizard, and Gaim.
Lemme guess, your favorite is Gaim right?
Only a newfag like you could really pretend Drive had anywhere near the worst. It's mediocre at best but holy shit there's worse.
why does that look better than every chinese cartoon that is currently airing?
>tfw I also liked Heaven's Tornado because that one episode of dancing was better than the shitty dancing in Gaim
All of the Ventara Riders were back by then, so I guess from them.
A more "conventional" ending than Ryuki's.
Favorite: Machine Chaser.
Least Favorite: Dead Heat.
Jesus Christ, stop projecting.
The majority of those sound like a collection of /krg/ memes rather than a person's well thought opinion on anything.
How do you expect anyone to take you seriously when the conversation goes
>Drive had a lot of really low points
>WELL ALL OF FAIZ SUCKED. LEL KOUTA LOSES IT'S RESOLVE HEAVEN'S TORNADO KUUGA IS CLIPSHOW KIVA ABORTS HIMSELF LOL
And not every person that disagrees with you is the same person/poster.

>>Drive had a lot of really low points
Except that's not what he said you faggot
>and has some of the worst episodes in Kamen Rider.
That's a pretty bold claim, and considering some of the shit that Riders spewed out over the years you better be prepared to back it up
>Drive had a lot of really low points
Yeah, you totally said this and didn't go to the absolute extreme and said "Has some of the worst episodes in Kamen Rider" as though you were some sort of expert. Oh wait, you did. >>13761642
So I pointed out that there are multiple, much worse episodes from multiple shows which you proceeded to disregard because most likely one of the ones I pointed out was one of your favorites. With such a defensive complex and a misinformed knowledge on the franchise, it's obviously Gaim.
I think the worst part was Cockroach getting away because they couldn't take two seconds to pull the trigger on the gun before answering the phone.
Favourite: Type Tridoron
Least Favourite: Drive Deadheat
Honourable Mention: Rider Chaser
anything that isn't
Wild, Technic, Formula, ChaserMach,Mass Produced Mach, and Dead Heat Drive
>Deep Breath in Shit Tier
It at LEAST belongs in Meh
>All these people not saying Type Formula for worst suit
Formula is alright, I like the sunglasses and the sponsors, it just bothers me how clunky it is
Wild is nice, not my favourite to look at but it's cool
Brain and Medic looked pretty nice like that I'll admit
Formula 1 cars are built for sheer speed, not style or comfort of the driver. Unless there's some huge advance in materials technology, the car designs are pretty much purely optimized already to go as fast as possible while still staying controllable on a racetrack and not likely to change in the future.
There was no final fight between them because they wanted to show the bond that had formed between Heart and Tomari.
It had nothing to do with the suit actor having a hard time running in the suit.
The Roidmude suits look really cool in concept art, but they really don't read well in live-action. There's just too much detail and weird shit hanging off of their silhouettes for my taste. Sort of the same problem I had with the Undead designs in Blade.
The Heart suit is sex, just don't show it running ever
Now that is a straight up lie. Everything to do with Gou, Chase and Banno was perfect. The team up with Heart and Medic was great and the final moments of Heart accepting a human as a friend was heartwarming.
Sigma was a piece of shit that had no reason to be there though.
You haven't Faiz yet have you? Drive's final arc was pretty hype, my main problem with it was how lame Sigma was, everything else was pretty cool.
Nope, Banno was a really effective villain despite being a moustache-twirling evil scientist with a stupid fucking final form, and his final fight with Gou was far and away the emotional catharsis of the finale.
Where the show fucks up is trying to shoehorn Sigma in at the last second. Really, other people have pointed this out, but past the Freeze arc, Chase and Gou are really the main characters of the last couple arcs of Drive and Shin takes the backseat. But then the show feels like it NEEDS to give him some big centerpiece finale fight other than the showdown with Heart after all the other Roidmudes are dead, and that's where it fucks up.
The final arc of Faiz kind of makes sense in terms of character development
Kiba finally had enough of the world shitting on him, I guessbut goddamn it was still contrived as fuck.
>All these Drive spoilers I'm managing to avoid
>I stopped watching at ep 40 a week ago to wait for the movie
I'm starting to feel a bit silly.
Shinnosuke's role in the post Nira stuff feels like he is the Big Bro Mentor to the actual main characters, despite still technically being the lead
To be honest, you are bit silly anon. But I like your earnestness.
It was pretty weak, especially coming off from the Nira arc.
Banno being moustache-twirling evil was a great change.
How would you rank the final arcs of Kamen Rider anyway /krg/? for me:
W (epilogue not counted)
>It's alright I guess Tier
I've not added the ones I haven't watched yet.
It's a shame because original Freeze was pure sex.
I like Agito and Kabuto a lot. I can't really get into these newer Kamen Rider shows. I watched most of Kiva, all of Gaim, some of Drive, they just don't hook me. I hate to say they're a little too childish, since I loved the shit out of ToQgers, but there's something about them that is grating.
Can anyone recommend what to watch after I finish Kabuto that's like it/Agito?
Agito and Ryuki are not "Good Tier" Agito's ending just kind of... happens, especially after all that build up of really cool shit about to happen, and then he just
rider kicks god and suddenly it's all over, and all the build up to a female agito being godlike, and then nothing
Ryuki's ending is something I hold a grudge with on a deeper level. I know a lot of people argue that
Ryuki's ending was to show how pointless war is, how nothing good comes from it, etc etc. Except there was some good showing how bonds can come from those who have such differences and conflict early on, and then it just resets it and makes all that plot progression I just watched worthless. Not even a sign that they remember each other, they just happen to go to the same place in the end. It felt cheap, and kind of lazy. I don't think I'll ever like a time reset ending no matter what.
Kuuga I personally wouldn't put there since the show's plot just felt placed in the background, but I can understand why people like that final arc because it did have a good resolution. Also I'd move drive up only because I really liked the way all those story lines ended. That was some good ass acting at the very least.
For the other shows not listed I'd say Hibiki is shit tier final arc, same with Kiva. Decade's show is shit tier, movie is it's alright I guess tier, with an argument to be made for good tier.
I just put in an order and it says that it's out of stock though.
I haven't used HLJ before for figuarts, I usually just get them off of Amazon, how long do I usually have to wait before it gets filled though?
>Get the point where I've watched through all the Kamen Rider series I was actually interested in
>rewatch OOO on my own, and Gaim with a couple friends
>see a whole bunch of problems with Gaim's pacing and characterization that I didn't feel out the first time through
>but wind up enjoying OOO even more than I did the first time
Really don't understand why everyone says the middle of OOO is shit, I enjoyed that part a lot even if it feels slow because of the lack of a driving antagonist at that point.
So what other series do you guys think hold up on rewatch? I'm torrenting the V3 batch of Kuuga subs right now, was going to hit that next.
There's some typos, and some weird-ass literal translations (it IS scrubbing from TV-N's subs after all), but it fixes the worst of Takenoko's mistakes. I think Turnip said that he didn't want to keep to more literal versions, even if they sound stilted or odd in English. He talked about doing a V2 batch later on too.
Really the bigger improvement is just a video encode that's not shit quality.
I really can't afford it right now though, I'm between jobs.
Which fucking sucks because I love the OOO belt so much.
It... it was very pretty piano music at least.
Anon, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or a DX OOO Driver from a toy store in Japan.
>The comedy would appeal to younger kids
>Car themes are a proven way to get kids liking your shit (Pixar's Cars)
>The action and drama would entice the older audience
>They would only need to re-record the lines at least
>They already have examples and molds for merch and they could do what Saban did during Samurai by bringing over some DX toys and figuarts
Drive seems like the perfect show to bring over
Special Agent Dale Cooper, FBI.
My present for the day was
a nap with my dog
Well Drive only has fight scenes that last like 4 minutes at the end (Like 30 seconds-2 minutes in the middle) of episodes so they could get off with advertising it as a comedy show with small bits of action
Honestly, they could probably just do a straight-up dub of Fourze and it'd do really well over here. Throw it on Toonami and advertise that it's from the same writer as Kill La Kill and Gurren Lagann.
Surely it can't be worse than the existing dub.
>They air the Fourze movie
>Wizard shows up
>Right after Fourze ends they announce Wizard is gonna be the next show to air
>Toonami General starts getting excited for it
>yfw they relive our despair and give birth to a new phantom
>Western audiences wind up loving it for some reason
>4 MOTW voiced by JYB
>JK voiced by Yuri Lowenthal
>not looking at the works cited on the Wikipedia page and using those as your source instead
At the very least Wikipedia is good for giving you an idea of what to look for when you're starting to research an unfamiliar topic.
not really that big of an error.
But still. TVN really?
What other obscure toku heroes from Toei's past should get reintroduced in Rider crossovers in the coming years?
>The setting takes place in the fictional Kabayan Kingdom (カバヤン王国 Kabayan Ōkoku?), in the Middle East. His Imperial Highness Coconut, the heir to the throne
I guess I remember now why I refuse to watch anything with tv-n subs.
Its shit ofc. But its too distracting.
>G4: Literally a recolored G3-X with a slightly different head ornament.
>Ryuga: Recolored Ryuki with different eyes.
>Glaive, Lance, Larc: Would be cool if they weren't slightly different alterations of the same suit.
>Caucasus, Hercus, Ketaros: Literally the Kabuto suit with modified shoulders and faces.
>Nega Den-O: Seriously, it's just the Sword Form suit with stickers slapped on it and digitally altered to be purple.
>Yuuki: Holy shit, did you seriously just recycle the Gaoh suit and just give it a different helmet?
I feel like Eternal's okay because there's a legit reason for it. All Riders who use the Lost or W Driver result in similar-looking designs. Although I kinda feel that Eternal is especially cheap because at least Skull has a completely different helmet. Eternal's helmet is literally just a slightly modified W helmet.
Welcome to the world of the karate bugmen. Enjoy your stay.
Two episodes from now. Next week is Houdini, week after is Necrom.
I hope next week focuses more on Makoto, I feel he needs something else to his character right now since the last couple episodes he was just kind of hanging around without much of a direction.
That's enough anon you are starting to look ridiculous
And his suit actor too
I mained the fuck out of him in Battride wars 2, but OOO is still my number 1
Explain something for me.
In Kamen Rider 4, before Shinnosuke got killed in one of the loops, he asked Belt-san to record and save his vital readings. This is how they were able to prove that Shinnosuke died once before in the next loop.
How did the record survive the time-loop? If time's looping, then the record should disappear since, in the context of that particular loop, it never happened.
Don't think too hard about Rider movies, they don't follow any consistency.
When you "scrub" something, it usually just means fixing typos and putting it over better-quality rips. Usually people who scrub don't know enough Japanese to actually fix translations.
Gen sounded to deep and old for his character in that dub. Similar to the issue I had with Eiji in that OOO's dub of theirs, though more about the deepness. Their characters are too lighthearted and carefree to have voices like that. And with Gentaro he additionally is too young to have the voice of an obvious adult.
Shotaro would be a good character to have a voice like that.
So, who's Hibiki subs are more accurate, Swag's or Metronome's?
Because KR is no as focused on giant fights as SS. In Den O hey have a giant fight every so often but ToQ has it every episode. It would make more sense to have ToQ look better since it's not only way after Den O but they still use stock footage and they use that footage more often. Either way I'm not John Toei so I dunno.
>Who is the worst kamen rider character?
I don't have a worst character, I just think they're all good in their own ways.
Except for Nadeshiko, was there even any point to her being a Rider?
Zodiarts, with Mirror Monsters coming in at a close second.
That Drive torso kinda reminds me of Jeeg.
Waiting for next thread before I talk about Kamen Rider Cafe. Pic related is a teaser/my results with the Den-O Owner's Rice Plate.
I almost got to the end without the flag spilling
I just hate that OL makes useless Drive/Ghost subs, telling everyone that it won't affect Den-O at all, and then they delay... which is predictable, but...
THEN THEY FUCKING LIE and say that they'll release a few more episodes and then do batches, and everyone still fucking believes those morons.
I hated them from the start. They're dumb weebs that put on a nice smile when they're really condescending jackasses who don't actually care about the fandom.
>Jokes are the only reason to watch.
The character banter is the main reason I love Den-O so much but literally EVERYTHING ELSE about Den-O is fantastic. Except for the story which even then does have some fantastic moments.
They're the only ones that are worth anything. There's V2s in a Mega in the OP, but there's people who're waiting for V3s that MCS are doing now as well. If you don't want to wait, the V2s are perfectly serviceable. Just don't use the V1s, those are trash these days.
This. Yummies were pretty ass compared to other Heisei, Gaim only had like... 10 Kaijin suits total, Wizard and Drive had decent ones but there were ones that shat the bed, Kabuto's didn't really impress me...
I could keep going on but really, it's that Fourze struck on a really good area for design concepts.
Won't the V3's have the Gurongi subs? If so you should skip the V3's until you've watched the series at least once, knowing what the Gurongi say early spoils a lot of big shit later down the line.
The current v3 subs they have up use a code for their speech by default, I saw them talking about doing a version with properly translated text but I didn't follow it up since I was using them for my first watch of the series (v3s up to 22, then v2s from the Mega).
Blade's or Hibiki's were much worse
Replace the Taros with them, how does it change things?
Am I the only one who thinks Kamen Rider went downhill after Wizard?
>Gaim was fantastic but alot of people had dividing opinions on it.
>Drive was mediocre.
>Ghost currently sucks.
but then again I think Hibiki is best phase 1 but maybe I'm just insane.
Black RX. It's like DBZ and Star Wars in that it has shit aliens, martial arts, a goofy/super serious two-faced protagonist, and lightsabers.
Now that's got me curious. Is it possible to have Amazing versions of the other forms? Granted, the stats for Pegasus and Titan didn't change, but Pegasus' time limit and Titan's armor did.
So we could get a high jumping Dragon, a vigilant Pegasus, and an invicible Titan?
Ok guysits time for part 3 of the search for the best insert song in rider history! Yesterday Revolution won the Ryuki ballot with an overwhelming amount of results. And today its time to open your eyes because its Faiz! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1_LjPa4N5lcJoWKM1xN5u-VwQ0vim_yvvw2qYAQGzs8g/viewform

Damn, looking back at these Drive webms makes me really miss that cast. I can't wait for Surprise Future to get subbed in English.
