That's probably entirely deliberate, since traditional samurai helmets had open slots in the eyes with hidden faces.

So yeah, the fact that they almost look like they could be the wearers eyes is probably the point, oddly enough.

That and if you pay attention, his fighting style and body language in the armor are still very wild and aggressive. Leon didn't stop being angry, he just found a way to properly channel it. Everything about his Garo reflects that.

The exceptions there are Lost Shine and Leon's first form, which are both explicitly stated to be weaker.

Sho and Jin are just as powerful as the "true" Garo is for the Saejimas and Alfonso/Leon, but they play with Ryuga and Raikou's natures better and are easier for them to use.

The Gold Storm movie booklet actually says Sho is a result from the hopes and dreams of Ryuga, Rian, Ryuma and Agou as protector ones gathering into the armor. So it should be like a permanent power up, although it probably only works for Ryuga.

Overall, I don't find GnT's soundtrack as memorable as HnK's, but it's still good. Raikou's battle theme isn't as awesome as Leon's, but it's catchy.

anon that started watching. Just finished ep14 and I'm noticing a pattern that the show tends to move through the fight scenes really quickly. I mean I get that that's due to the time limit on the armor and the episodic nature of the show, but normally something like "a gate to the demon realm has opened up and is about spew forth horrors in the triple digits. You have to go into the portal, fight through the waves of horrors and blow up the thing summoning them" isn't done and over in less than 5 minutes (or least it feels longer than that). Due the other shows in the franchise continue this?

I still think GnT is pretty crap compared to the others. Despite the claims of the increase in quality, I genuinely did not see it, and felt myself thinking throughout the episode "Was this made on the leftover budget of some other show?"
The only thing that stood out visually was that one CG shot posted here and the OP & ED. And even then, the new OP song is pretty garbage for a JAM Project song, it's very anti-climactic and subdued, even compared to the first one. Storywise I still think GnT really suffers from feeling too disjointed, and the episodes themselves are incredibly poorly paced, and the characters really suffer from it. I kind of feel embarrassed for everyone involved in it. It's a shame that such a cool armor design is stuck in such a shitty show.
