Active Raid 1 is out.
I thought the episode was pretty funny and toku as fuck.
>pretty funny and toku as fuck.
Did they make jokes about the rock quarry?
Will pickpocket-chan become part of the crew?
It had too much scenes with the characters talking to themselves out loud with expositions & info dump at the start of the episode, but became better in the 2nd part.
Help, I want to fuck the restuarant AI.
Launching on skis isn't something you see every day.
Well that was a fun show start. If they can keep it up it'll be nice.
The bad guys 3D models looks like toys, it didn't blend well with the background.
Those eyes are just distracting. The bright purple is one thing, but all the reflections are light blue instead of the usual white and it keeps bothering me whenever she's on screen.
>Can we use the Phase 7 equipment?
>No, not yet. Let me ask for permission.
>Ma'am, if you don't let us use Phase 7, that seedy club-
>Team, you're all clear for extreme weapons use.
I miss old silly cop dramas with shit like this.
I love top cop veterans with tricks upon tricks up their sleeves, Captain goto would be proud.
I like that Sniper Cool used his rifle to change the trajectory of the plane.
Also considering these are experimental police units and could straight up ignore a head on collision like a powder puff, can you imagine how dangerous military Willwear can be?
I wonder who did the Shibari tie?
I bet it was a gurl
also if she's a recurring character doing all kinds of blue collar stuff like picking pockets, insurance scams fucking even diner dashing it'd be great.
The premise and cast really smells like Patlabor in general.
Except with Taniguchi at the commands, so less laid-back and more over-the-top.
And damn, is Nobunaga Shimazaki everywhere these days?
Despite the fact that her outfit stood out, I never really noticed pickpocket-chan bumping into the newbie. Granted, I wasn't fully paying attention.
Yeah, I'd love that. After a few episodes they'd start wondering why they always end up meeting/arresting this girl in the middle of other cases.
1 cookie it's Haruka the bussexual or Rin the chief. Kuroki was changing into his police uniform, so it couldn't have been him, and the other girls were already discussing pickpocket's fate.
I wouldn't put it past Madoka, Funasaka the section chief, or Kyoukai-san either though.
The strangest part is how they have this overly long name here... and it's not an acronym or anything.
The hell, guys, that's not catchy at all.
It's more that it's very reminiscent of toku shows like Winspector and of Dekaranger, it's not too serious yet either considering we got enemy mechs getting slapped around like pinballs and getting whirlwind tossed and it's very tongue in cheek with the policing a la Patlabor TV instead of being super serious, though no reason it can't ramp up to that later.
Also can't wait for police girl's own Willwear debut next ep.
>Tokusatsu is a Japanese term that applies to any LIVE-ACTION film or television drama that features considerable use of special effects. Tokusatsu entertainment often deals with science fiction, fantasy or horror, but movies and television shows in other genres can sometimes count as tokusatsu as well.
>tfw it doesn't say toku is /m/
toku isn't /m/
Chief Rin too cute, and she's got a twin sister too.
Wonder what this thing does
>Even if it's WRONG.
I can't help but read this comment as if that guy from Two Stupid Dogs said it.
Fair point then, as long as it's in good humor.
At least you can make a DOS joke.
I really like how the team not only have to deal with criminals but bullshit red tape as well,d they know just how far to toe the line and piss those people off too.
>barely any kids
>not particularly gay
>neat suit and character designs
>screwball police division
The first episode was nice at least
>hey guys forget that Miku slut, I'VE got burgers!
Do not worry, she's okay now..
And maybe she's even ready for some new action.
It was pretty heavy on infodumps, but most of them were handled reasonably well. The only time it really felt heavy-handed was at 7:30, and that scene was hilarious enough that I don't mind.
I liked it. I'm definitely feeling the winspector vibe, and I kinda felt like it had a bit of Tiger and Bunny in there too.
One of the girls is getting one next episode.
Can't wait for her henshin sequence.
I sure hope so. Bussexual Haruka did imply that she has also a willwear. Together with the confirmed third willwear for the rookie Asami, which does have pinkish elements, that makes at least four. Might as well throw in a fifth one, who is probably the section chief as the big guy.
Initial trailers and what not had me thinking it was another Borgman and Virus Buster.
After the first episode, not so much.
I'm getting a much more DICE feel, which was a "fun" show. Not genuinely decent until Season 2 though.
Because it is.
iirc, ORANGE is handling CG while IMS (I think?) is handling the usual animation.
By the way, the "high profile" animation company that they were talking about but refused to name that's located in Suginami-ku that contributed to a politician's campaign is most likely them teasing Sunrise, which is located in Kamiigusa, Suginami.
I thought we're going to get another Comet Lucifer, but the first episode is actually fun as fuck without weirdass pyshics and stupid logic.
Also while the characters are silly, they all act in moderation. The red hero guy isn't obnoxiously brainless, and the blue rival isn't a super autistic edgelord.
It helps that the staff has actual experience, unlike the jokers that helmed CL.
>The red hero guy isn't obnoxiously brainless
Something tells me that Arakawa was aware that Dekaranger's Ban was rather divisive, considering that.
It's not the second coming of Patlabor that's for sure.
I thought it was trying too hard with it's 'quirky' cast.
I want to like it though so I'll remain in denial for two more weeks and see where this goes.
It reminded me a little of the first episode of Planetes, where Tanabe comes in, is disappointed by how wacky the Debris staff are and proceeds to just yell at everyone else as Hachi is being a jerk to her in return too. I think things will settle down over time, but I did have fun.
Not as good as Orange's other work. I'm not sure if it's because the animations are trying to be more organic, because powered suits instead of mechs, and failing, or that they blend terribly with the background.
Not the same person but I'm actually against three episode rule.. four episodes is the real test because the first three are always cool especially the third but it's the fourth where you really get to see how this show will handle pacing
He's so Handsome.
Both are idiocy. A show can have a really strong first half (6 or 12) and the go to complete shit in the latter part or vice versa. The "three episode rule" is just for idiots that like to boast to watch everything and only "drop a show after giving it a fair chance."
Tbh if you're not watching for their skyboxes you're doin it wrong.
In seriousness though, I do agree with that anon that it's a little off, sorta blurry at times (although that's probably more the fault of the HS rip). They've done better, but remember they just animate what they're asked to by the studio staff.
Because if you married him, he'll pick up and throw the trash you leave around.
If you married red, you'd have to do it or it'll just pile up.
I also can't stop thinking that Red is Basara's dad before he fucked an angel.
Blackmailing Shinjuku Ward's politicians. That's who didn't want them running the bust there.
Man, Winspector never had such problems with getting operational authority, but they probably had blanket authority from the Ministry of Justice to operate. They actually can operate nationwide.
That may be some kind of sneak thief stealth Willwear. Note the grappling hook on the hip, and that box on the back is similar the bags that historical Japanese thieves usually wore.
This ended up being way better than I thought it would be and the best part is that it has opening by fucking Akino of all people, since this is a comedy it is also pretty promising, I now understand the Tiger & Bunny comparasions
The show's pretty swish.
I really like Studio Orange but I really liked Delta's CG too. The models were cartoony and very different than orange, and the choreohraphy was pretty cool unlike frontier which I hated.
Pretty sure ML isn't popular enough that someone would dislike to get hipster cred anywhere, let alone on /m/ where I'm pretty sure they have a relatively small fanbase and their series isn't really cared about or liked much if at all
I don't think I see them leak out of their threads too much, and I don't remember them being too bad when they do. I've always had a bad memory though, so you could definitely be right
... Anybody else remember when backseat mods used an exploit to delete all muvluv (And IS, and Even fucking Wall-E) threads by falsely reporting them as illegal content? /m/ gets butthurt over Muvluv
It's like Psycho Pass minus edgy emo shit.
Too bad that also makes it less marketable among show-off audience who would like you to know how they like "mature" shows.
Silverlining is only /m/ will talk about it, not cross boarders who will stir shit up..
Yes it tried cramming 2 seasons worth of villains into one, but it has it's moments. Mainly from Akari being a devious little fuck
>>And damn, is Nobunaga Shimazaki everywhere these days?
Take a good guess...
As far as infodumping goes, it was pretty light. They also handled it slightly differently.
>okay you're new so here's the deal dumpdumpdum-
>NO I KNOW THIS SHIT SEE dumpdumpdum-
>well then shut up and let's go
Damn, I enjoyed the fuck out of the first episode, CG could be a little better but it's animated well enough and the characters personality still comes through so I don't mind it. Anybody else loving the soundtrack?
Pickpocket-chan spotted. I guess she's gonna be dragged into random crap every episode?
Remember to remove bloatware before heading into battle.
Does this look like the face of mercy to you?
He made her tell them she fell down the stairs.
They even installed the little AI mascot on the Chief's TV.
>bonzibuddy on your TV, toaster, and fridge
I LOVED her debut. She both was a newbie fuck up AND was competent. And it was all in ways that made sense.
Since she didn't trust her creepy engineer, her suit wasn't ready for prime time, she got over competent, and her performance was actually too high since she was used to sims.
So she messed up, and got her comeuppance for acting so high and mighty, yet still made a decent debut and proved herself.
I kinda wish they found a VA for her that spoke fluent non-Japanese-stilted English, just for the fun of hearing them do a 180 in their accent as if they had someone else dub over her.
I hear Nao Touyama is pretty fluent and speaks with much less accent, but she has to do exaggerated Engrish as Kongou (from Kancolle). That said, she's probably not a good fit for Kazari. Ari Ozawa fills in the niche of justice moe nicely so far.
Her engrish seems much better than most I've heard though. Her
was pretty good, as was
>Excuse me Boss
I do think it would be great if they could get someone fluent one of these days though.
By no popular demand what-so-ever, I'm going to make a variety of this meme every time a bad guy gets kicked so hard they're sent flying.
'k maybe this is not really common for anime in general that's why animefags don't like it that much but since I like Henshin Heroes/Tokusatsu I definetely enjoyed this a lot.
It's fun, the 3D is not perfect but it's definetely good enough for me not to pay any special attention to it or think it ruins the fighting scenes.
I also like the characters, Newbie best girl and
best ass holy shit I want to eat that until I die.
Peeked into Twitter and found this.
I don't see nothing wrong with that. AR is an entertaining anime, nothing 2d4u and doesn't seem to become a dramafest.
If this is the way they try to reinvigorate the MH audience then i'm cool with it.
The only problem I have is I kinda want to see them act it out live.
The show feels like it needs one episode done in tokusatsu format. Something about it feels like a perfect fit.
Though that'd probably weird out half the audience.
>Toku Active Raid
I want this now
It would be even better if they made the preview look like a normal episode and the you get a live action episode.
It won't happen but it would be very cool if it did
The only way I can see this work is if Yasuhiko gets to write said episode. No one would blink an eye if it were him.
It can be described more as Rescue Police (Windpector, Solbrain, Exceedraft) meets Dai-Guard, if that helps.
I don't even like Toku that much but I really enjoyed this show.
If you're talking about /a/, I think they're too uptight to enjoy anime that's not CGDCT anymore. Well, /m/ is more or less the same though.
We know Haruka has one at least from the dialogue in episode 1.
More than one unit per person might not be necessary, the inner unit is equipped with an outer unit, and given that all three outer units we've seen so far have specific names for them, it seems to me like we might just see different outer units for each base Oscar.
Yeah, and they originally were going to try to deploy her in last ep.
No semites, commies or gipsies survived?
