Ok /m/. Post your favorite Tokusatsu Kaiju/Alien/Kaijin
I think this was from a thread that 404'd recently. Anyways, Gomora was always one of my favorite Ultra kaiju.
Just out of curiousity, is it just me, or are monsters in Tokusatsu forgettable due to their monster of the week status? I mean there are memorable ones, but the majority I don't seem to remember whenever I revisit a show. Does anyone feel this way about monsters of the week?
Well, they probably have ranks.
A listers are like, Godzilla, Gamera, Gomora
B listers are Red King, Rodan, and Daimajin
Then you have Z listers like Dora Cerces, Namegon and Giant Lizard from King Kong vs Godzilla.
Yay, I've been reposted!
Yeah, I agree. Even the ones I remember are all like just ugly and jumbled messes whenever I try to recall them.
Again repost here. He is a mutated Michelin Tire man. colonel ethniqua
I thought the whole head within a head concept was cool. I heard it inspired the monster Raiju from Pacific Rim.
Like Twin Tail but less goofy. I actually liked this episode.
The whole dinosaur-plant hybrid thing from space was kinda cool, even if the execution was shallow.
I really like Thunder Darambia's design.
I haven't watched that many Ultra shows, but Bemstar always stood out to me. He looks a bit goofy but somehow that doesn't bother me.
I always thought Nosferu (Nosfer?) was great in both design and practice.
How the fuck did Red King get so popular? He was one of the worst suits back in 1966, was killed by being thrown over Ultraman's shoulder.
His only claim to fame is ripping the wing off Peguila, killing Pigmon, and screaming.
I've always been a fan of all the Zettons.
I remember being confused about Zetton. His official subtitle is space dinosaur, but he looks like a beetle. Also, he doesn;t appear to have an actual face. So, what he is exactly? I mean, beyond being the Ultraman killer of course.
I don't know about favorite, but I still remember this guy.
Gyaos. Went from a goofy vampire, to a fucking hellspawn.
I don't think they will, since Galaxy was popular enough. As long as Rei stays around.
Hell, Rei, Gomora, Booska, Pigmon, Ultraman Zearth and Ultraman Nice were leading the New Years parade and dancing to Booska New Year.
I had the Trendmasters Gamera figures when I was younger, but Guilon/Guiron was the only survior from my childhood. I miss having the extra blade piece that shot out, but oh well.
Fun fact: his Japanese name, Guilon, stems from the English word Guillotine. If you've seen the movie, it makes sense in context.
Knifehead was my favorite kaiju design from the film, even though the NECA figure I bought broke in the package
I feel as if though I have a fetish for Kaiju that use parts of their bodies as weapons
>Gigan has sword/hook things
>Megalon has drills
>Guiron and Knifehead's bladefaces
>Dorako has those hooks
>Gudon has whips
And then there was this guy.
Best Kaiju team since Gigan and King Ghidorah, IMO.
I wonder how they came up with designs like this one. Baffling as fuck, and I didn't even post Power Rangers on this thread.
Well, it's simple.
>Good, what else?
>AND THROW SOME GUNS ON IT
>JOHNSON YOU'RE A FUCKING GENIUS!!
And then Johnson-san gets a raise and you've got a kaiju.
The design still perplexes me though. Why does he have those weird thorns and not claws? Budget concerns or creativity? I honestly want to know what goes through the head of suit designers when they make this stuff.
Personally, I remember some Ultra Kaiju, but the seijins usually evade me memory. I almost never remember the Power Rangers monsters because they're usually ridiculous villains who play cannon fodder of the week roles. I remember this guy somehow, but it's probably because he helped Ransik and fought the Rangers over the course of the episode. (More screentime)
Baltan is like the best fucking alien ever.
>Started out as the Cicada Man in Ultra Q
>Suddenly appears in episode 2 of Ultraman
>Comes back as Baltan II
>Was revived by Mephilas as Baltan III
>Was planned for UltraSeven but due to the costume being almost un-usable, was left out.
>Appeared in Ultra Fight and fought UltraSeven
>Appeared in Return of Ultraman as Baltan Jr.
>Was going to appear in Ultraman Ace
>Appeared in Redman as one of the many aliens to break away from the Ultra series.
>Was in Star Ultraman
>Was going to be in Leo
>Was in 80 twice.
>Was a member of the Sinestro Corps.
To be fair, so was Zorak, Predator and Xenomorph. He also fought Morning Musume's Mini Moni. He was even on Takahashi's Castle.
Remember that time Godzilla's buddies got drunk and tried to sneak into a Kirby game?
The giant space chicken bounty hunter with hooks for hands and a saw in his stomach.
I remember having some weird discussions about Kaiju with roommates in college. None of them knew any kaiju beyond Godzilla and those "giant bastards" from Ultraman. Everyone I knew also hated Cloverfield, and they thought Toho created King Kong.
