While that's probably not the case I wouldn't be surprised if they are. UC suits around 0087 to 0105 are the biggest units in the entire franchise on average. Most AU suits are smaller than everything pre-F91.

This is more in line with the Gundam design philosophy post Tomino.

Turn-A was the last "big" Gundam we've had. It's just that we've mostly had Okawara designs which are fatties, then we suddenly got a bunch of Katoki anorexic designs which make them all look super tall.

Not necessarily, it could feature them moving back and forth if the technology is good enough. Happened in 00's first season after all. Pilots went up and down to Earth once or twice in the first dozen episodes. The space elevator makes it easy to have them travel back and forth between Earth and near Earth orbit at the very least.

Tomino is trying to both show how bad it gets, but also try to show there was hope. Humanity survive this dark time, and clearly the Kuntala got their human rights back eventually. Clearly rationality did prevail.
Humanity went insane, but we got better. And in the show this is represented by the last of the three surviving space elevators, which humanity restored.

I would be VERY sad if they blow it up in RC. Because that practically means all the progress humanity made is undone. And that UC style eternal war would return.

And no, I don't consider Turn A a definitive future. I consider it one of the possible timelines. I rather think humanity can finally get better and not just kill itself off, after clawing back from the dark pits of barbarism.

Somehow, I feel it would be wrong thematically if RC followed the same story structure as past UC shows. Isn't the entire theme of RC is to NOT be UC MKII?

If we end up with the usual war that ends with cyber newtypes, dead girlfriends, and the destruction of the space elevator or colony drop, I would be disappointed. If anything Tomino should do what 00 did with Soma, and subvert the old formula to prove things can go differently.
