Are there any books about Mental Illness or characters that are immersed in a reality seperate from their own? Pic semi related.

Probably Phillip K. Dick wrote about something like that.

The Double by Dostoyevsky is the first thing I can think of.

There is some YA novels that deal with mental illness. I can't think of any specific ones off the top of my head.

short story Eli, the Fanatic by Philip Roth. Actually, all of Roth's books that I've read really gracefully portray the terrors of mental illness. The Plot Against America is good and so is American Pastoral, and both are not centered around mental illness (Eli, the Fanatic is though) but it is a prevalent theme throughout the novels.

Mainly "Martian Time Slip" by Phillip K. Dick.
Also "A Scanner Darkly", but here the mental illness or reality split is a side effect of drug abuse. Both books have some good scenes where you can notice a difference in perception by different characters.
