>>
>>34885094
That only applies to the very early models like the SGL-20. And some of the other very early Arsenal imports that I've never even seen being sold before. I've only seen an SGL-20 for sale once. It certainly does not apply to the folding stock SGL models. Both of my SGLs are 2009 which is the first year they offered the 21 and 31 models to my knowledge. Mine are all Russian parts and I think you can trust me to tell the difference. Maaaybe some of the ones they sold in 2009 had Bulgarian barrel parts. I know some of the SGL-21s sold had milled gas tube retainer levers which is unusual, but those were installed in Russia and were Russian. The sight leafs have all been Russian.
>>

>>
>>34885150
same, my 2009 sgl31-84 is all russian

my 2011 sgl21 has the milled lever, but he barrel components are all russian as well

Never heard of bulgarian parts on an SGL20, but those came in much smaller numbers and I've never handled one. I know Hickok owns a 20 and has done a video on it, perhaps some details are visible.

the most visible differences for the AK100 FSB are the lack of a lightening cut, and the hump preventing accidental bumps to the windage drum is extended above and below the drum

earlier styles (pic related, on the SLR) are just above the drum

Thanks guys, I'm not an AK guy but for I need an AK for my collection and want the closest thing to a 74M I can get. I'd rather not have to hunt down a unicorn parts kit and get a receiver blank made and have someone build it. I only care about the parts being correct, I'm not autistic about roll marks. Worst case scenario I settle for an SLR-104fr, which is still a great rifle. Is the SLR used in any Eastern European conflicts?

If you can't figure out something as simple as spray painting and then baking your rifle at a low temp until it has the look you want then maybe you shouldn't own or handle firearms?

>>34885424
I know. If I got one I'd put a triangle folder on it. The SBR one would be cool to suppress so I could pretend to be a mercenary from MGS2.
>>
>>34885399
a folding stock SGL31 would be the easiest way to clone an AK-74M, it would just need a reinforcement plate installed to be good enough

an SLR-104 with black polymer furniture will fool normies, but don't call it a clone around here or we'll jump you in a back alley

They don't have reinforcement plates from the factory? I thought those were important? That's the thing between the pistol grip and receiver, or am I thinking of something else? In my opinion SGLs are the best place to start for an AK-100 clone, unless you're doing a .223, or doing something like Zasta and Flandre and wanna do an early period 100/74M where you wanna avoid the bump rivet and such. With SGLs you get a factory made Russian barreled receiver.

I'm messaging him one more time and telling him if I don't have money by 8PM tomorrow, deal's off. I don't have time to fuck around with people for 5 days waiting for them to send me money when they were awfully eager to send me their shipping address before paying.

Doubly so when this would make him the third - THIRD - guy to tell me "yeah I'll buy it off you" and then either welch or lollygag around without paying.

>>34886100
Yep. This is the first time I've ever had any sort of issue like this with a buyer, though admittedly I don't sell much. The closest I've had to it was trying to buy mags off BakesRus twice through the Files (before he came here) and him just ceasing communication when I decide what I wanted, got a total, and asked where to send payment.

This is new though, and I'm increasingly starting to think it's an attempted scam because the guy sent me his mailing address before I even told him where to send payment. Nobody else has ever done that before; they've always asked where to send payment and provided a shipping address, then paid immediately, or waited for me to reply back to them with a payment e-mail before paying and then giving me a shipping address. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, but I have my suspicions that he wanted me to send him the item then wait for payment, which is fucking stupid and something nobody would ever fall for, hence why I'm still giving him the benefit of the doubt.

>>34886154
That's exactly what I just told him. He doesn't pay up by tomorrow evening, it's going back up. I'm so sick of welchers on this thing already.

However, Weapon Outfitters and OP Tactical turned me on to the Hodge Wedge-Lock rail and now I want to do my second AR up with as many Hodge parts as possible since I'm from San Antonio like they are. It'll get a Geissele trigger and probably one or two other parts anyway though.

Also, EOTech guy finally sent his payment. Turns out the dude's a lawyer and that's probably why he wasn't able to get everything squared away as fast as I'm used to. Glad that's over.

You really are a whiney little bastard aren't ya? Sorry I misses both of your messages and your world came crashing down. I am sure it wasn't me trying to fuck you over or what ever you feel. I get busy, get side tracked, and do not devote 100% of my being to the internet. I fuck up and at-least try to own it. When you wanna man up instead of complaining about a past failed deal maybe hit me up and stop being such a whiner. It's easy to bitch here but it's a lot easier to send a message and ask to be put on a notification list etc..

Have you put into your sale that payment must be made within 24hrs of I'll take it?

>charging handle that moves right into where you put your face and is non-reciprocating (for obvious reasons).
What the fuck was Armalite Rifle's problem?
>>
>>34888871
shots fired.
The AR charging handle is really dumb. And that's a good point about the mag catch, never though about that, than again I dont deal with ice very often.
>>
>>34888845

>>34888871

I've been stationed in Alaska and never have ever heard one person complain about magazines freezing in their gun, maybe you should move from Antartica
>>
>>34888840
>>loud safety selector that at best right handed is goofy, left handed is virtually impossible
Different doctrines about firing hand, it was based on an just as useless US design, it just werkz
>>magazine you have to RIP OUT of your gun instead of just falling free
No you don't. Use your new mag to push the magazine catch and you'll press the old one out.
>>charging handle only makes sense if you reload with your firing hand
Yes, which is due to a different doctrine.
>>
>>34888889
>well the only people that are serious about carrying ak's and aren't retarded mil out the left side of the receiver for a charging handle so there's a place to start

I guess the Alaskan state troopers and the numerous other people and organizations are just fucking retarded then, huh? Rock in mags with a lever release are 10x better for environments with ice and water.
>>
>>34888889
>louder than any other gun I've fired
Still not a downfall. You're not gonna give your position away by disengaging your safety. that's video game logic.
You can also bend the safety slightly to make it quieter and easier to move.
>yeah that's the way to do it, but that doesn't mean it's good
You have to move your face off of rifle to charge an AR, also not good. But that's how you do it.

>4/25 is non-deplorable

>>
>>34888912
What the fuck are you talking about?
>>
>>34888910
The loud safety selector wasn't an actual complain that, more of just an annoying observation

Using your charging handle should only be used if you have a malfunction and you should be taking your face off the stock to check the chamber anyways.
>>
>>34888915
Meant deployable but phone changed it.

4th Brigade Combat Team/ 25th Infantry? Are you retarded?
>>
>>34888928
Did I say you were non-deployable? No. I said that you're not in fucking Alaska doing actual combat patrols and getting in firefights. Fucking SWAT magazine covered this shit back in 1986. If that's not enough for you
>because all that big Galil and Valmet shill money, am i rite?!?!?!
MAC did a video that highlighted some of the same issues. What happened was
>Get snow/ice on rifle
>it melts a bit because you were by a fire/in a vehicle or building/it's close to your body
>water gets in magazine release, selector, and other shit
>freezes again
>lol fuck XD
Russia designed the AK series of rifles with winter warfare in mind. A big trigger guard, large simple controls, and everything is designed so that you either can get some leverage or you can beat it into service.

>>
>>34888982
Wow, you're a real illiterate piece of shit, aren't you? Because field exercises accurately represent actual combat patrols and getting into firefights, right?

As for the second thing, what do you think fucking snow and ice are? They're frozen water, that shit get's on and in your rifle. You WILL get moisture in your weapon and it will UTTERLY fuck your rifle once it freezes. You keep moving the fucking goal posts dude. You're acting like people never get wet in the fucking snow and ice. MAC managed to replicate a lot of the same issues with a few sprits from a spray bottle of water, barely below freezing (10 F), and not leaving them out for three hours. Also the last thing you need while your slowly dying of hypothermia is for your rifle to take an utter shit. Go ahead and keep rationalizing it away though. You're both wrong AND retarded.

Thanks, even that picture is a huge help. Looks like if I use the AK74 trunnion I need to trim it from the front and back to get the rivet locations correct. Do you have a picture of the other side of the trunnion or the inside where the feed ramp would be?

Also, I've seen some TiN that looks enough like gold plate to get by, especially when it would probably save $1,500 in addition to how much more durable it would be. I still think I'm leaning towards nickel if I do decide to plate it though.

Have you ever had any issues with steel cased ammo in the PTR before? The first time I took mine out, I ran 160 rounds of brass with no issues, but the first round of steel (Hornady Steel Match) went off and threw a metric fuckton of smoke everywhere, to the point where it was even coming out of the trigger pack.

Over the next 49 rounds I had a couple of failure to feeds and a couple of fucked up followers, but it's mostly that first smokey round making me worry I may have fucked something up.

here it is fellas

Only marking is 5,45 as you can see. Interior is chrome lined. Almost exactly the same length as an AK74 brake (bayonet might still work?). Haven't got an exact weight yet, but it feels slightly lighter than a standard brake.

The "AK12" handguard was a bamboozle; I received a brand new three-slot. It's much nicer than my whittled-plastic style old one. I'll probably sell the old one and get my $100 back.
>>
>>34891402
Is your old one a 2 or 3 slot?
>i'll trade you a colt n1 for it :^
>>
>>34891399
Weird, I'd expect Hornady's steel to be the most consistent and normal of the steel loads.

I'm mostly just hoping it didn't cause a hairline crack somewhere that I can't see, but the G3 pattern is strong enough to stand up to that sort of thing once or twice, I'd think.

Anon was going to spend $2800 for a factory rifle. This is $100 less, the rail retails for over $200, the trigger for $300, and is $100 less than what he was looking at. However that is moot because I see he was looking for an FDE rifle.
