After all the images I've seen, I'm under the impression the rail form the .410 is actually the second version and the one that looks like a mix between the current one an it is the first. Almost all the rifles with that rail have a ribbed top cover and the trunnion dates I've seen are always around 92. The rifles with the .410 rail have smooth top covers and sit around 95. If you out chimps have a different idea or conflicting info let me know.

That's the far end of the gas tube though, and even if it was cut on the opposite side it still wouldn't slow down the bolt carrier velocity, AKs can function without a gas tube at all. All the acceleration takes place when the piston is still in the gas block.

I'll add that a valmet sight is actually the correct one to use as a base for the clone. The journal area of the galil block I used is too long and has a flat bottom compared to the rounded bottom on the valmet block.

Not really a difference I was going to spend an extra $200 on though. Once I get a rotary table I might pull the block and try to reprofile it but I'm happy with it for now.

I'm running the machine on a 15 amp circuit so I've only tried running it up to about 80 amps out. That stuck some 3/8 plate together for a column support for my mini mill and I have that screwed down tight enough to lever the column into tram so I figure it's more than enough for an ugly weld on a front sight.

Any details on the builder? Shit, if I could just send my deact bolt off to be fixed I would probably do that. I need an er11 extension to get the weld out of the firing pin channel and even then I'm not confident that I have the space on my mini mill or the skill to not fuck it up.

No pictures, all I've done so far is plug weld the rails and grip reinforcement to the blank. Scope rail and 5.5mm folding stock are in the mail, and I have a fantastic barrel that cabinarms on akfiles made for me.

Magwell, one magazine, and a deact bolt are the only vityaz parts I have. Everything else will be from a bulgy 74 kit or machined from billet. I'm still trying to decide if I want to use an AK74 front trunnion, cut down and modified for the long rivet on the bottom or make it from billet.

And, got it on the plating. I was thinking around $2k. Titanium nitride or even nickel plating might be a better budget option. I have a beretta 70 that I'm planning to make into a nickel plated tariq clone eventually so a nickel carbine make a nice set.

It's doubtful Wolf or Tula will get b&, Wolf especially since they're US owned and import from more than just Russia. Yes cheap steel case will be harder to get/more expensive for a while but it'll eventually stabilize especially if another company expands or opens another manufacturer.
