Guys, one of my shooting buddies wants to trade me his Gen II M70 NPAP for my M92 PAP (pic related)

I'm really tempted as I'd love to out some dinged up Balkan War furniture on it.

Is this a good trade? Also would include the red furniture and the regular blonde furniture/grip that came with it. Also the sling/Krink brake and SB-47 brace.

What would /akg/ do?

>>34850251

Because they're harder to get a hold of than the NPAP's?

I feel like it might be a bit of a trade up since M70's typically go for $600-700.

But this is why I'm asking y'all.

No, It isnt. Its a preban type 56. It has a hooded front sight, and diagonal rivets in the front trunnion.
But what really matters is the price. Anything under 1k and its a good price

He was smart and stepped away from the internet BS. He still posts on FB here and there but not with the frequency he was last year. He is 100% good to go and is an awesome guy to boot. Fucking scary, boys. He's full on off the deep end and is crazy and looks like a skeleton because of how skinny he is now. I don't know what happened to him. My wife is having a hard time about her father screaming and interrogating her about trying to find his now ex wife

Sorry for blogposting but right now my Maadi this close to doing its job of defending me and mine with 60 rounds of 8m3
>>

>>34851685
Yeah, they've been married for like 25 years then out of the blue last year he went and gambled away like 90% of their savings over two days, quit his job, started living in a trailer, and got a reputation with local PD for being a violent drunk and and abusing meth, both of which he had prior history of like 40 years ago but never since then

She was granted a restraining order a few weeks ago but she's still thinking "I don't think he'll ever really hurt me" which is absurd because her husband is literally searching for her so often that the police know him by heart. It's scary. I've never experienced anything like this and I don't know how this is going to get resolved. When I'm at work and my wife is off I'm constantly worried about what if he shows up or if my mother in law is watching the baby what if he shows up with them and all that stuff. Restraining orders are bullshit, they don't do anything and the police can't do anything until it's been broken and once it's broken I'm afraid it'll already be too late for the police to do anything other than clean up the mess

This feels like straight up Discovery channel true crime stuff
>>

I don't know honestly, it was just the first thing I reached for. I've got loaded AK mags all in my safe and the first thing I grabbed was a mag, and it was a 7.62x39 mag so I grabbed my Maadi and another mag to go with it

7.62x39 probably isn't the best option for my house but I guess the AK is more intimidation factor and if I need to I can just grab my gun on hip, I doubt it'll come to any of that though and I'm sure he heard me racking slides and loading up and that he'd get scared off seeing a long gun in my arms

It's mostly just a "get out of my house or I'll ventilate you" thing in case he shows back up

>>
>>34851980
>Dude if hes a so frail, just beat him down.
This also, unless he's the meth addict that keeps weapons on him, or ever has been known to. DESU with a meth addict I would pull the gun vs having them have any chance to do something. Not saying to shoot but the instant intimidation factor would stop most in their tracks and reverse the situation. Those who it did not, well if they had a weapon pew pew, if not then stock check them in the gut...

He's not really frail, he's just not as beefy as he's been for as long as I've known him. He's like 6'6" and is still big guy, just a lot thinner. He looks like an alien now compared to how he used to look

>>34852011
>>34852000
It's just bizarre, he was such a cool guy and a great father in law and then all of a sudden he just snapped and became somebody else. Over the course of like 10 months he's thrown away his entire life

I wouldn't put it past him for having guns on him though, he keeps an 8" Colt Anaconda and a bunch of hunting knives in his truck and carries (or at least used to carry, not sure if he still does but I don't see why he would stop) a 1911

>>
To be honest, after having >$5K in optics, I've come to the conclusion that everything you want to do can be had with a $300 optic; long range, short range, etc. Yes, the glass will be clearer on a $2.5K scope, but you and your rifle will be far better with that money spent on ammo and practice. The clarity on the edge that everyone seeks means almost fuck all, and if there's a mirage out there (which is >75% of the time shooting), then the air is blurring it and it doesn't mean dick if your glass is perfect.

I'm sure everyone will jump in and justify the high value optics and what not...just saying what I've seen. A savage 6.5CM with a Primary arms 4-14 or SWFA 10x can do everything a $5K custom rifle with a $4K optic can in any scenario except benchrest shooting.
>>
>>34850289
NPAPs are gay, and they only cost like 450 new right now. However, M92 for an OPAP would be a good trade.
>>
>>34855195
Wrong thread? Everyone here already uses $300 slav scopes lol.
>>
>>34855195
>except benchrest shooting.
hmm
>>
>>34855213
A lot of slav optics are more than that, but I think that has to do with relative scarcity than anything else. As far as optics in general go I kind of agree with him, but the issue with budget optics is durability and repeatability. That's what the big money optics offer and you hit a point of diminishing returns around the $1k to $1.2k mark.
>>
>>34855195
I'm pretty concerned for your safety bud
>>
>>34855195
Clarity, durability, weight, fog, precision of adjustments, first focal plane reticles, accuracy of the reticle markings, light gathering, illumination, ability to withstand high caliber recoil. How can you have spent $5k on optics and still not realize that there's more to price than the clarity at the edges?
>>
>>34855213
Mother fucker, you're right. Wrong thread. Derped hard on that one.

Are Saigas really considerable as that much better than a well made Arsenal or Vepr? I wish I'd gotten one before they were banned and with an arsenal and Vepr now, am wondering if I should go ahead and fork out the high postban price an SGL-31 would command.

My other 2 are in 5.45 and I figure I'd keep with that theme.
>>
>>34855586
It's more so the features and stuff. VEPR's, no matter what, are RPK derive and thus heavier, you're stuck with certain things, etc
>>
>>34855601
And an Arsenal? I have an SLR-104. Don't imagine it's any different save the pedigree. Mine is in getting some dumb shit fixed (they cut the fucking rear sight notch like a full mm to the left of center and the gas block is a little crooked) but other than that the thing seems like a damn 1 MOA rifle and has never jammed.

Arsenals are alright. Not quite there with the Saigas but they're mot comparable in quality than not. It's mostly, again, a feature thing.

Nope, never ordered anything from Ukraine before. Strela's site says they do international shipping and use UkrPost airmail to get it here between 3-14 days so I'm willing to give it a shot if the shipping cost isn't literal rape. I am mad that the price is different between versions of the site, hopefully it just means shipping is included in price, I posted a vid of it on my IG

am i autistic or does literally every AR, regardless of make model or attachments, look like a poorly desgned mallninja keyblade-tier piece of shit? I couldnt give a shit about them if they could obliterate 10,000 commies with a single pull of the trigger, if they could penetrate tank armor with no recoil, absolutely nothing could motivate me to even hold one of those boring hunks of plastic garbage.

Does anyone feel the same or am i legitimately retarded?

Not every AR. I get the same feeling of disgust and light nausea at 90% of AR's that I do when I see a RAS-47 or some poorly railed up AK. At this point though it's a pretty numb feeling.

Theyre just so BLAND. Maybe its not specifically ARs themselves, but every time i see one i think of some mouthbreathing oper8or in full GEAR getting ready for some TACTICS. Anything vaguely related to the modern (((US military))) and the neanderthal "veterans" it shits out every day just makes my face implode from cringe, and the fact that the AR itself looks like its straight out of a lego set doesnt help.

Maybe Ill appreciate them one day, but at the moment i need some immodium.

Extra $10 to ship, and the cost difference on the site is due to export stuff in Ukraine they say, and an insurance fund if some shit goes wrong, so it sounds like they'll cover me if some shit does go wrong

Never used a Western Union but this is a good a time as any to try it
>>
>>34857800
Hey Zasta, in your travels, how were you treated?
>>
>>34857569
I think you're kinda autistic and projecting your own fears of looking like a mallninja a bit, desu.

Don't get me wrong, I love my AKs, but it takes a very specific kind of AR to make me roll my eyes and go "fucking mallninja." My AR is my party gun, the one I don't have any issues constantly swapping stuff out on or beating up on a bit. If I had to pick a rifle for someone to try out shooting for the first time at the range, it'd be my AR. I know that thing inside and out, it's set up in a modest and robust way that suits my needs, and if anything goes wrong with it, I know exactly how to fix it, have the tools to do it, and the parts won't cost much.

My AKs, on the other hand, I'm a fair bit more careful with. Yes, they can probably stand up to abuse as much as if not more than my AR, but they're nowhere near as replaceable these days, and the "factory issue" look I keep to with them gives them an elegant simplicity I don't want to mess with, even if it would make the shooting experience more enjoyable.

I guess if I had to summarize it, I really like historical AKs and don't like to mess with them much, but I see ARs as extensions of their users. Some of them are very aesthetic and speak to a certain level of experience and technical understanding as to what makes a quality personal rifle, whereas many others are blatantly mallninja garbage done up for Instagram attention. AKs can fall in the same boat pretty easily, but with the AK market being what it is, you've got to try a lot harder to end up in that second camp.
