I turned my gas block down until it locked back a bolt with Wolf Gold and no suppressor then gave it another 1/4 turn open. At that one setting it works swell from unsuppressed Wolf Gold to suppressed Mk262. I haven't touched it since. H1 buffer and standard spring.

I think you're making (or made) it more complicated than it had to be.

>more complicated than it had to be.
yes, this 100%

in the factory form, the war upper worked fine if not a tiny bit under gassed with the surefire can.

what i wanted was to use an h3 and xp spring because i wanted to build the ultimate reliable rifle and that buffer combo would make it very hard to stop.

so what i needed to do first was drill out the gas port to get enough gas to use the h3/xp, and since the WAR bleeds gas, i had to open it up to around .1"
once i did that, the uuper would cycle and i could even overgas it with the h3/xp without a can, however, once i put the can on, it was undergassed and wouldn't lock back.

this now meant that i had to drill out the port in the upper(pic), this was easy enough to do and once opened, my ejection pattern was the same with and without the can.

now that i'm trying to go back to the standard spring, to have both lowers be exactly the same, i'm running into a problem with the WAR.
because the gasport is so open on the barrel, each click on the gas block feeds a lot more gas, and because the port on the WAR is so open, it feeds too much gas to the bcg.
the spring is so light that changes in gas volume affect it quite a bit.

so now i either need a new valve for the upper, or just stick with what works.
i could send both uppers to Inn. Arms and they replace the valve with a stock one but i would prefer it if they would just sell me a few.

The fucking retards use nasty wheat buns for fried chicken sandwiches in an effort to appear healthy despite the fact that the wheat buns always taste stale. now, you are probably wondering, "if the sbr works great with the h3/xp, what's the issue?"

well, i want both lowers to be identical, that way if i ever need to put the 14.5 on the sbr lower it'll work exactly the same.

>why doesn't your 14.5 work with the sbr lower with the h3/xp
well, it's because i'm using a 14.5" mid gas barrel and although the port is already at .100", it doesn't have enough pressure to cycle the h3/xp.

so i can either drill out my port even more or get a carbine barrel.

>drill the port
i would have to drill it to .125" and that's just a bit too much and could potential cause issues.
i did that to a BA barrel and it stripped too much copper from the bullets and would send it to the bcg which would seize up once it cooled.

>carbine gas barrel
this is the best option, i get the spring/buffer i want and the gas port won't have to be drilled out much.
i could either get a 14.5 socom barrel or a 14" carbine hanson barrel, both are fine options.

>what will you do
i've put the h3/xp back in the sbr and will leave it as is for now.
we'll see what happens in the future.

Anyone want to talk barrels with me?

I'm trying to build a balanced rifle that isn't so front heavy. Atm I have a carbine m4 profile and midlength socom/govt profile.

I am thinking of something with a continuous or tapered profile, still debating whether I sbr.

Right now I am between a BA Hanson profile barrel, Larue predator, and ARP barrel. Maybe a columbia river arms.

They all have barrel profiles where the weight is more toward the rear and is either continuous or tapers. The Larue, ARP, and CRA are all supposed to be better quality and have better accuracy than the BA but the BA is lighter overall and they have a 0.625 GB diameter barrel that is even lighter still.

The Larue, ARP, and CRA barrels are all like 1.75 - 2lbs whereas the BA is 1.375 lbs (0.625) to 1.65 lbs (0.750).

However I am a little concerned about having a barrel that is too thin. The goal is balance not super light weight.

Biggest question on my mind is whether the change is weight distribution will be enough to balance things out even with a 2lb barrel or should I just go with the lightest option of the bunch?

Thoughts anyone?

Go get a thread file and recut it, you only damaged a dmall portion of the leading thread. It's easy to do just be patient and work slowly.

Take the barrel nut off and inspect it for burrs or damage, something is not right. If you have another one try threading it on by hand once the receiver threads are fixed.

Uh, maybe use WASR funds for RAS? Did you ty searching google for the RAS you're looking for? KAC was the prime contractor but there were sub-tier contractors that made them as well. I found 5 on Etsy one time that were made by a sub-tier and they were about $50 cheaper than the KAC made ones. You wont explode, but you might not make torque if you wipe out all the threads on the way there. I Would personally file it and do it right but if you think you can get it to thread and not damage any more of it then go for it.

>>34825360

Make sure your rail has the cuts in the rail for the panels to clip into
>>34825396
Eliminate play with a strip of electrical tape down the inside of the panel, zero wibbly wobblies after that
>>
>>34825380
All the time. Mine will only "lock in" when the spring clip is going into either of end slots of my quad. The other slots in the middle aren't machined as fully and only have a semi-circular relief cut in them. Now if you're referring to the bit of wiggle they have, that's just because the spring clip can wiggle in its groove in the rail cover. But if you can grab the panel and just slide it up and down the rail then you may have my situation.

Bullshit. Have you put 140 foot pounds into your block? I have five or six times and it didn't break. Pic related, installed and uninstalled several times.

Like above, use it more carefully. Don't just clamp the tiniest tip of the block, clamp the fat end and as much of it as will fit in your vise. And DONT CRANK DOWN THE VISE HARD. You don't need to clamp it, you only need to hold it from rotating.

Also put something between the receiver and clamp, like a paper towel or saran wrap, so the receiver doesn't get marked.

tl;dr I use my $15 amazon cheapfuck block HARD, and FREQUENTLY and it hasn't broken.

Geissele reaction rod, Bev Block and all that other $50+ shit is gimmick snake oil tier. There's literally no need for anything """more""".

Sorry.

>>34825539
I've had that happen with mine. Take the panel off flip it over and check the spring slips. I had mine get stuck in its groove in the plastic panel and the ends of the clip weren't coming all the way through to engage the slots on the rail. Alternatively, with one I had to fish the clip out of the rail panel and bend a arch back into it because it had basically been bent flat be the SPC that had it before me.

Hate to break it to you but that is essentially buying your own. That's just buying an upper and a lower and clicking them together, takes like 2 seconds. A far cry from building. Then your just putting on a rear sight and the quad rail. Like 10 minutes of work tops.

More than anything else. It's up to personal opinion. I really liked green, but use clip on NV, so went with amber. I've got two red TA31s and they're great, but rank 3rd place in my book.

Idk I would have sworn red was superior to green, but green was best for day, but amber was best for night vision?

Fuck idk.
