They lower end BA stuff is about the same price as the Faxon. The higher end BA stuff is about $80-$120 more expensive. BA stuff, event the low end stuff that is the same price as the Faxon comes with an accuracy guarantee which can be nice. Both are good barrels though. I have a Faxon currently. Will be going BA for my next build.

Yeah they make both the flash hider and the brake in 1/2x28 for 5.56 people.

I am reading that most barrels are threaded for 0.6" like you said, but I think you might be able to get away with 0.4" of actual thread engagement.

The flash hider is 2.7" long, minus 0.6" for threads, but plus 0.2" for some spacers, comes out to 2.3" added length. Should work with a 13.7" exactly, and give the muzzle device 0.4" of thread to engage to the barrel. I might go this route, or put the brake (2.6") on the 14", and also get exactly 16", this is assuming that both muzzle devices have 0.6" of thread.


I can't find added length info or even just overall length info for the SiCo ASR muzzle brake.

If its not made for a 5.56 projectile I wouldn't buy the brake (especially if you are going to pin and weld) since it wont work well as a brake, the flash hider would still probably work fine. If you want me to ask someone at Dead Air if its sized for 5.56 I can ask them later today.

I'm thinking of building a M16A1 replica from a AR-15 lower and M16A1 parts from here:

This would be my first AR build, and first rifle to own in general. My question is would there be any potential issues firing .223 ammo out of an M16A1 upper? I've heard firing .223 in something designed for 5.56mm could damage the rifle.
