TPS for sure pic related. Super high quality at a steal of a price, especially from Brownells (seriously, check around). Some time in the last year some damn fool over there figured out that they actually made top level shit and they upped the price a little bit, but they're still excellent quality for price. I like them better than the aluminum Nightforce rings.

They come with allens. Just a dab of blue and slowly tighten. Works great for deer rifles when you're trying to see how cheap you can go.

I try to avoid weavers and use Burris, because the scope tends to turn as you tighten.

Question for AR owners: What is the 1 optic that would be best for all ranges in a SHTF situation? I want maximal overall speed and effectiveness, minimal fiddling with eye placement, so a full scope is out. I am leaning towards a holographic or an ACOG with a very easy to use sighting process.

I've tried doing it all kinds of ways but my eyes seem to be the most autistically accurate, so I just play with it for a couple of days until it "feels" right.

Cheapest way would probably be a plumb bob strung from a tripod or something. Lock the upper up on some sandbags or a rest, look through the barrel and center the plumb bob line, then center the crosshair on the line, then rotate the scope so the vertical crosshair aligns with the plumb bob line.

Easiest way would be to use a square and true piece of bar stock or a stack of feeler gauges to align the top of the rail to the bottom of the erector housing.

Here we go, made an image to show the different methods other than using a level or Arisaka tool. Bingo bango.

I mean within 500 yards, probably within 300 yards, because I do not plan on firing any farther than that with an AR. I mean, all ranges that an AR can shoot, and an intermediate shooter like me would be comfortable with.

I don't need super accuracy, I just want to be able to spray down muggers/thieves quickly if it ever comes to that. So I'll probably go with a holographic or some in-between low power scope. Probably 4x or less.

Gen 2. It is servicable, but I don't have any complaints that are really valid for the price point. You'd be hard pressed to do better for the money. Its dim on 6x with a narrow eyebox, adjustments are mushy, mag ring is stiff, BDC only goes to 600 (that complaint is more for my shooting though, holding dead air to get out to 750y is annoying)

Because the crap on the sides is the SST1 Cheek saddle which is 100% legal to use as a cheek brace on a pistol buffer tube. Putting it on the Shockwave doesn't change it's original design intention, and as long as you don't change its original design all you're doing is combining two pistol braces, both which function differently, and even when combined still only function as pistol braces.

Basically as long as you don't write a letter to the ATF asking "hurr durr is this legal", it is legal. That is how the pistol brace shit has worked since day one, and each time something is made illegal it is because of pussy as bitches like yourself writing them letters.

I mean at this point you're allowed to shoulder braces. Do you really think that combining two braces is going to change shit up all of a sudden?
