Does anyone else place their rifle and plate carrier in their vehicle every morning before they head out? I mean the chances are astronomically slim but in the case of an active shooter where I had access to my vehicle. Why just settle on a truck pistol when I could have protection and rifle best suited to taking out some unforeseeable threat or gunman?

>tinfoil
Yeah yeah it isn't like some deranged liberal fanatic is going to just shoot up a baseball field full of unarmed innocent people or something. That kind of thing doesn't happen in America in 2017.

Been looking at the JP low mass bolt carrier lately, any good? I like my rifles light when possible, since I'm a 5'9" manlet and length+weight means awkward handling for me, so I'm trying to compromise on weight as much as possible, except for the barrel.

Other than the JP system, any other recommendations?

Lighter profile handguard, barrel and muzzle device will serve you better than light bolt. Bolt, stock and receivers are towards the back of the rifle where your right hand is

I'd recommend using a dedicated .22 upper, both for barrel twist and cleanliness reasons.

If you stay away from any of the phosphate products and anything that says "Ciener" on it you should be fine, almost all the stainless designs are the newer generation revisions. CMMG, Spike's, Taccom, Tactical Solutions and several others have almost the same bolts and each company offer different barrel length and weight options but they're all compatible. Some kits include .22 barrel collars and some include 5.56 chamber adapters so pay attention to that with regard to price; you don't need the 5.56 chamber adapter for a dedicated upper. Taccom, Spike's and CMMG offer .22 barrel collars for about $30.

I found a CMMG kit with 3 mags on sale, a CMMG barrel that included the collar also on sale and a bunch of used Black Dog mags for $12 apiece, so I ended up getting everything for about $80 less than it would have been separate.

CMMG mags in three packs are the cheapest new, Black Dog the cheapest singles, prob best to look for used ones.

S&W parts and magazines are NOT interchangeable.

The top one is for camping / backpacking as it folds up for easy storage and is a pistol that is covered by my concealed carry license.

The second and third are simply military clones of a 2005+ M4A1 US Army kit, and the other is a 2001-2003 US Navy SOPMOD Block 1 kit.

I don't like commercial high speed low drag tacticool civilian 3-gun ARs. They remind me of Japanese tuner cars/ricers with their giant wings on a 1992 Honda Civic hatchback.

Irons are mostly on to fill space, I'd have none if it didn't look awkward without them. Those will be changed before long. Vortex will change eventually but for the foreseeable future that is going to stay. VFG is staying, it's consistent with another rifle of mine, where the vfg is the only option.

Those are both fine.

If you're going to primarily use it on a 5.56 or .300 blk rifle rather than a 7.62, I'll skip recommending a dedicated 5.56 suppressor and suggest you instead focus on weight over anything else. 7.62 suppressors are heavy, and holding an extra pound on the end of your barrel is tiring.

Assuming you still want/need a QD system, SilencerCo Omega, Hybrid and Thunderbeast Ultra 7 CB or Ultra 9 CB are going to be a whole lot more tolerable than a super heavy all-steel Surefire or similar. If you can do without QD, then the Dead Air Sandman Ti and direct thread Thunderbeast suppressors are also great options. On otherwise identical suppressors, direct thread will be lighter.
>>
>>34295255
Do you actually need the rail space? If not, go with the 13" - save some money and weight.

Not rated quite that low, but yes the firing schedule is significantly lower than the full-auto rated suppressors. How fast are you going to be shooting though, really?

I kinda regret getting a heavy all-inconel and steel Sandman L instead of a Thunderbeast. Full size steel 7.62 suppressors are nearly 2 pounds!

Also the SilencerCo Omega is full auto rated and is not much heavier, so that may be an option if you plan on super rapid fire for extended periods.

It would probably look ok with a 14.5" but this is my wife's first rifle and I figured I'd just leave it a 16" for now. She doesn't give a shit. I already had to do a not insignificant amount of domestic violence to get to not have the thing be complete mall ninja shit.

Yup, that's your upper. The mega receivers together are extremely tight. Too tight, however I haven't shot it yet so I'm hoping it'll loosen up some. People who know more about guns than me seem to think it will.

Making my wife think the gun or any other gun for that matter, is hers does help me be able to acquire more guns with less bitching.

My next project for myself is a block 1

I need to sign up for an account on there. I keep telling myself that I'm going to do it but never do for some reason. Same thing with eBay.

I've also thought about getting the oem and then giving away the 16" barrel to someone itt who's building their first rifle. Thought it might be cool to make someone's day that way

Also before I bought it i compared it to a Trijicon accupower. I had the PST, the Steiner, and the accupower all next to each other. I picked the Steiner

My only gripe is the turrets for the red dot are kind of squishy. That's the only problem I have with it. But it's 1x is great and it's easy to see red dot in bright son.

You are correct. It's a very addicting and expensive hobby.

Been at it a little over a year and have 4 rifles done, and 4 lowers waiting on parts.
