Is this a relatively accurate infographic?
I only have a 25 yard indoor range available to me, but it looks like a 25yd zero with my AR should still be passable for purely defensive purposes? Anything I should know or be aware of if I zero at that distance?
I don't anticipate taking potshots at invading Russian soldiers from the hillsides, just plugging some meth head or home invader breaking in through a window at worst.
>>34165515
You bought an AR for home defense and only want to use it for 25yds..........................................
Best charging handle for a right handed shooter?
I'm thinking about doing my first build. Can anyone critique this parts list I put together in 30-minutes while I was bored on night shift and tell me how badly it sucks?
Upper:
Midwest stripped upper
Daniel Defense 16" mid-length barrel
AR-stoner low-profile gas block
BCM mid-length gas tube
BCM M16 BCG
BCM charging handle
Aero upper parts kit
AFAB hybrid muzzle brake
Yankee Hill 12" free-float quad-rail
Lower:
Anderson stripped lower
Del-Ton lower parts kit w/ 2-stage trigger
AR-stoner buffer tube assembly
Magpul CTR stock
After tax it should run $1,350 or so.

Also, how many rooms and hallways in your house are larger/longer than 25yds?

>>34165426
This is kind of bullshit. Use the 25M/300M military zero target.
>>34165663
For $1350, why not just get full Daniel Defense rifle?
>>34165680
Optic is good but vanilla otherwise, and that's not a bad thing.
>>34165704
That's all aftermarket parts, a Derp Defence would just be a rifle.
>>34165680
Get barrel cut down to 14.5", then get rid of that trigger guard and grip
>>34165717
>Just be a rifle
And it wouldn't look like an armslist special either.
>>34165704
I mean, I could. I was just kind of wanting to build an AR.
Also the DD whole rifles I see online are a couple hundred bucks more expensive.
>>34165735
Who cares if it looks like a frankengun? As long as I put it together well enough it shouldn't matter.
>>34165663
Not a bad build list, I would just lose the quad rail and get something M-Lok/KeyM so you can just add rail sections where needed.
>>34165674

Like this?
To be honest I don't even want to hang shit off my rifle. I want the top-rail for irons and then all I need is a small bit on the bottom for a gripod.
>>34165738
>Who cares if it looks like a frankengun
Do you know where you are?
>>34165766
Yea like that. If all you want it for is grip and irons thats perfect. If you decide in the future you want a Flashlight, IR or even a secondary optic you just add rail sections to that portion of the rifle. Looks cleaner in my opinion than a quad rail.
>>34165766

>>34165721

YOU DUMB CUNT
>>34165774
The place where aesthetic means outing your own gun as a Frankengun because your handguard is intentionally a contrasting color that doesn't match (Geissele, ALG), the muzzle devices (looking at you surefire) aren't ever seen on prebuilt guns, and stocks (B5/LMT circlejerk) are the same way, just to name a few.
So remind me again how this other anon should be frowned upon for assembling his own gun?

I got this group at 100 yards using a stock $500 PSA AR.
Can it safely be said that 1 MOA capability can be expected from the average off-the shelf AR circa 2017
>>34165977
No because it's only 1 MOA if you don't count the shot that opened it up to 2 MOA. Still, pretty good for a stock OTS rifle compared to 30 years ago.
>>34166009
I don't know who put that hole there
>>34165918
Poor selection of parts.
Excessively bad, well the barrel is fine.
I have a question about ammo. I'm thinking of buying a bunch of the Federal American Eagle 5.56x45 to stockpile a little bit. Is this ammo ok for self defense in a SHTF scenario? It's 55g FMJ, and it's pretty cheap
Are PSA premium bcg's actually any good or is it just poor people circle jerking over cheap stuff?
>>34166152

>>34165601
Just use frag rounds and have a barrel 16 inches or less and it would be great for HD without over penetration.
>>34165426
Is there a way to generate a diagram like that for different loads and optic heights? Obviously I can put that data into a calculator with the different zeros but would be nice if there was a page that spit it out like that diagram.

I'd change the rail and just get an assembled Aero upper receiver then you can drop the upper parts kit and Midwest stripped upper.

There aren't as many options for .308's. I'm not going to go down this road but I don't see what's wrong with it.
>>34167893
I have other rifles.
>>34167925
I've put around 1000 rounds through it so far, I'm using every type of ammo I can find just to see if anything has issues. I used these 180 grain Herters rounds that had trouble feeding. The bullet shape doesn't work well with semi's, the guy at cabelas said a bunch of people were complaining. They're accurate as fuck though. Anyway, no issues otherwise.
>>34167964
Try this. Buy "heavy whipping cream" in the dairy section for it.
Cut out the gristle/tendons from the chicken as you're preparing it.
Don't forget to make some rice with it too.

My Dewalt is pretty damn good.
Hot as balls the other day I ran it pretty damn hard, started noticing a smell and figured out I was covering up one of the air intakes on it.
So it's not perfect but man that fucker has some torque on the low speed. Impressed me for a cordless drill. It's the 20 volt model.
The drill chuck on it isn't the greatest but it's still working.
Real talk most if not all of us would shill for the right company. Some even for the wrong company.
>>34168008
Yeah but it tastes good...
>>34167929
If you're looking for something with a free float handguard you're probably not going to find one with quality internal components for that price. My advice is buy an Aero OEM rifle and build it up how you want. You can get that for $500+ shipping and transfer.

I'm just talking shit mostly. Dewalt without a doubt makes good tools. The guys next door like Milwaukee tho. I defer to their expertise. I've used both and many other and never had many problems except with a Ridgid drill

If you don't plan to shoot it much, or mod it then it probably won't give you problems. That railed gas block will make installing a free float tube hard and if you shoot it a lot that barrel will wear out fast.
>>34168056
Was drilling through some 1" pipe on the bottom of a leather chair that wasn't equipped for wheels.
Caught and spun a 5/8 drill bit several times, probably needed less angle on the point of the drill bit. The raised ridge on the shank made it hard to remove, had to smack it a few times. Drill chuck wobbles a little but it's holding up.
>>34168076
>still using carbine length gas systems on 16" barrels in 2017
>>34168053
My DPMS Oracle has held up.
The thing is, if you're going to buy an AR-15 you might as well buy one that will last longer.
I can look at my DPMS bolt carrier group and tell it's not the highest quality but it is competent. I know it will fail eventually, especially if the rifle is overgassed or something--reservations about using on a rifle with a short gas system.
Aim higher than a DPMS, even though they do work.

Dumb repetitive ones. The kind of questions that keep being asked until the asker gets an answer they want or can afford.
what's with AAC saying the military adopted the 51t blackout flash hider?
I get that it wouldn't be standard issue, but I never hear you guys gushing about it for use on any of your operator clones either
I tried halfassed googling to no avail. figured dropping the question here, then driving to the store for beer would be faster. (failing that, I'll get drunk and jerk off ... it'll be answered faster than I can cum)

Find the oboz to be a better boot for going out with a pack on. Better lugs on the sole, slightly better insoles for my feet.
The only two companies with insoles worth a shit are Salomon and oboz. Though I hear mammut does too, but they don't make size 14 boots so fuck those mountain krauts.

>>34165515
Do a 50 yard zero. Just get your bullets to land about 1.4 inches above the point of aim. If you want to be super autistic about it you can look up the ballistics chart of the ammo you are using and get it exact, but generally 1.2-1.5 inches is what you want
