Were'd you find a 107r? Those things are mostly being sold used and at retail price. Besides that they are pretty good rifles, at least that is the general concensus.

the wasr is great and all if you get one without canted sights and a loose mag hole, but it's like $600-700 now while you can get one of these an a basic bitch ar-15 for $900 or an arsenal slr-107 for ~$800.

this guy did a 5k round test on the psak and said it did fine and psa said they would fix the things that showed wear so i might just take a chance on it

Building up a 22" .308 Saiga as my MBR/D"M"R (the marksman part is for fun, and I do have realistic expectations of accuracy). Philosophy of Use (goddamnit NFP for teaching me that) is pretty basic. Not planning on hiking long distances, mostly mounted movement with short foot patrols as needed in moderately wooded areas. MAYBE using it as my go-to defensive rifle from static positions.

How much am I going to hate my life in a hypothetical WROL world?

New to AKs and I plan on buying soon, please don't roast me for this dumbass question but, wasn't the ak-47 literally designed in1947? Why do people keep talking about this design and not the ak-74 or the newer ak-12.

How do I look for a modern ASK that rivals the AR in America? Do I go straight for saiga?

AKM - What most 7.62 AKs in america actually are
AK74 - 5.45 AK
VEPR - RPK recievers in various calibers
Saiga - Russian AK no longer imported
AK12 - Unobtainium

It's called the AK-47 cause normies are retarded and don't know the difference between a 47 and an AKM

If you're this clueless on AKs either get a WASR or be ready to do a whole helluva lot of reading. AK-74s in the US are a PITA, especially after Arsenal has said no more 104FRs for now

resale on a lot build clone is hit or miss. I've always figured that if you buy a kit, and build it, it's yours for the most part. There really isn't much value in a second hand kit build outside of a small circle of autists and you almost certainly wouldn't recoup the initial costs.

So why not shoot it? I'm sure people shoot them but why beat up a rifle like that when you can go buy an SLR for a 1000.

Shooting and owning a well done period clone in itself is an experience, you don't have to "run" it for it to have value.

>>
>>33969363
>A fucking hinge and a slightly different receiver doesn't warrant $250-300 more compared to the 107r
Actually yes it does, the folding trunnion is a $200 part alone and the 24mm FSB is a $100 part, plus the cost of labor to install them on the gun (have to cut the receiver differently for the folding trunnion). If you were to source the parts independently and build a rifle the exact same as an SLR-107fr you'd be paying quite a bit more than what you're paying buying an SLR-107fr as is from the factory.
>>
How do you properly tacticool an AK?
>>
>>33969446
vz. 58 is in no way related to the AK. The only thing the AK and vz. 58 share is a similar silhouette.

What caliber? Their 5.45 stuff is garbage but their 7.62x39 is passable. The issue is that it's all just Century rebranded ammo so unless you already know the source factory, it's hard to say where it came from. Currently all their 5.45/7.62 (x39 and x54r) are coming out of Ulyanovsk, so it's essentially just rebranded Tulammo.

Neat so apparently if you really squish your face down you can still use the irons with the SVD pad. And with it set from 800-1000 you can use it with a normal cheek weld to swap between irons and optic as if the pad wasn't there. I'll have to see how much it changes the zero by raising my head that high

I'm telling you from experience that Chinese wooden upper handguards are more comfy than Chinese cheese graters. The cheese grater is little more than a cool factor novelty for me. The gun is considerably more comfy in the hands with a normal old wooden upper HG, plus a complete set of matcing loght shade Chinese wood on the rifle looks better

Press-on 14x1 LH thread adapter, which I smacked onto the muzzle with a rubber mallet. There's still a gap of about 2cm between the base of the brake and the FSB, but the retaining pin is long enough to hold it in place.

Dude you don't even know.

I cosplayed Welkin and had to have the patches custom-made because there's simply no way to get all the insignia necessary otherwise. Had to get it done though, since I did it right when Valkyria Chronicles got its PC re-release and it was a "now or never" sort of thing.

This coming con I'm just cosplaying Kazuma Kiryu so I'm not making anything for myself; the actual "work" I've got to do is for a friend who needs a naginata for her Fire Emblem cosplay. Her brother got us a room at a supposedly-fully-booked hotel, so I gotta make it up to her.

I didn't necessarily want to be Welkin, just a generic grunt. That was really why I never went through with it, I'd have to really get it 100% to satisfy my autism and that means a lot of DIY stuff that I'd need to be perfect, plus it's a military uniform and I'd want it to be all rough and not gay cosplay felt-tier material. I've got a friend who is really into cosplay and makes his own stuff really, really well, and he was gonna help me with it but it was just too much. I put a lot of time and money into my Char uniform because it wanted it to be as perfect as I can get but compared to the detail in a Gallia uniform the Char one was child's play and I couldn't settle for anything but the best.

Maybe some day, but I don't really think so. I'm too much of a perfectionist and a Gallia uniform would need a lot of fine detail for me. If I ever did go through with it though itd be really cool. At the same time though I could get something even cooler and real like Ratnik easier and for the same amount of energy really so I dunno

>>
>>33971647
Yeah, generic grunt would be even harder. The biggest stumbling block we ran into while making his stuff was the weird ribbed fabric that the lower half of the uniform sleeves are made out of it. The ribbing is so close in it's extremely difficult to make by hand, and we couldn't find any fabrics that were made that way already. I ended up finding and sacrificing a sweater I had from high school to make it happen. Even then, we had to cut a lot of corners since certain design elements just don't actually work IRL.

>I could get something even cooler and real like Ratnik easier
Ratnik doesn't get you photos with cute Korean girls dressed like Bayonetta though.

>>33971550
5.56 will punch right through apartment walls too. Either get a handgun or don't worry about the overpenetration issue. You're gonna be in for a ride if you use a registered SBR for HD anyway.
>>
>>33971714
Gallia uniforms are just so cool looking though and I really want one. VC is really one of my favorite games and whenever I play it I want one more and more, plus it really makes me want an FN49 as it fits the aesthetic. The whole aesthetic of that game is just really cool, it's one of the very few "military"-ish Chinese cartoon games I actually really like. I haven't played in a few years because whenever I do it makes me want to spend money

Just a bolt-action .22 I got when I was 16. I admit I'm a poorfag college student. I want to get a pistol by mid next year, maybe as a graduation present.
>>
>>33972392
I made it but it's on my work computer. Ill post it in a few hours.
>>
Alright so I really want an optic for my WASR because I think my iron sights might be slightly canted or I am just a shitty shot with them but I can't find anything that me as a college poorfag can afford that doesn't look like ass.

I was hoping to find a romanian or other slav cheapo $100ish PSO but no dice.

Anyone got any suggestions?

A friend told me he could get me a PK-A for super cheap and I was excited but it's been like 2 months so I don't think he'll pull through.

No, It's akshully and AKMS-SGL-SLR-47-74FRCSU 101-110
>>
>>33972546
No, the SLR107fr is little more than an AKS74 but 7.62x39. It's not a 100 series rifle
>>
>>33972589

An aks-74 in 7.62x39
>>
>>33972625
are there any 100 series rifles in the us?
>>
>>33972753
That guy is right. And just because you say no doesn't make him wrong.

>>33972772
Second hand SGLs are the closest you'll get
>>
>>33972753
Installing a rail, 90 degree gas block, 24mm FS and a 4.5mm side folder on an AKM doesn't make it a 100 series rifle
>>
>>33972806
what does?
>>
>>33972783
By definition an AK-74 is 5.45x39.
If it's another caliber it's no longer a 74.
>Saying he's right also doesn't make it so.
>>
>>33972816
>what does?
Nothing you do to an AKM will truly make it a 100 series rifle.

>>33972819
So it's an AKM with a 4.5mm trunnion, side rail, 90 degree gas block, and 24mm front sight. Almost as though it's an AKS-74 but in 7.62 rather than 5.45. Based on your inaccurate interpretation of AK 100 series rifles, I'm actually surprised that you're hung up on that answer.

Measure height from middle of optic lens to top of dust cover and I'll tell you how it compares to the PSO
>or send me obzor so i can take pics with it :^
>>
>>33972939
It's 2.3"

The chin weld is real with the Obzor
>>
>>33973019 meant for >>33972936

I am just all retarded today
>>
>>33973019
Holy shit. PSO lens to dust cover is about 1.6666". SVD pad also adds about 1.3333" of height so with both pads I do get a real cheek weld. Would definitely make the Obzor more tolerable but you're probably looking at somewhere between a chin and cheek weld
>>
>>33972909
>you're hung up on that answer
Says the guy calling it an AKM repetitively.
By your same criteria, it's not an AKM, and never can be.

So we're at an impasse because you talk like a fag and your shits all retarded.
>>
>>33973063

>>

>420

>"no"
"Yes"

Every feature the rifle has minus the side rail is the same as an early 80s AKS74 minus the caliber. If you want to get technical on what the rifle is compared to a military counterpart the closest you'll get is an AKS74 but in a traditional 7.62x39 chamfering. You can put your fingers in your ears all you want but it doesn't change that that's what it is. The SLR104fr is a fairly faithful example of an early 80s AKS74 minus the side rail and a few small details, and the 107fr is literally the exact same rifle but 7.62x39

There is far too much incorrect parts to the rifle for it to be a 100 series. SGLs are the closest 100 series we've got in the US, SLRs have nothing that compare them to 100 series rifles
>>
>>33973122
Let me take that burden off your shoulders then :^
>tfw cheekpad now really making me want a b13 and an optic but if i buy a b13 i'll want to buy a pt-3 too
>>
>>33973086
>So we're at an impasse because you talk like a fag and your shits all retarded.
kek

>Says the guy calling it an AKM repetitively.
Because that's the next closest thing to it. There is no Russain military equivalent of the SLR 107. It's a hodgepodge.
To say that an SLR107 is close to AK103 is the same as saying the AKM is close to an SLR107, except you could modify actually modify a 107R to the point where it is an AKM clone, but you can't modify any 107 model to be an AK103 clone.

So, to answer the original question, the AKM is technically the closest military rifle to the SLR 107 (since you ignore the fact that it's an AKS 74 in 7.62x39), but it's a long stretch.

A set of long handguards+pt-3 costs like 800+ship from Rus thunder. I've already given them like 250-300 for lights, VFGs, and patch. I still want a B12, B13, and a PT-3 as well. Plus a Perst-4
>>
>>33973374
No, eventually it'll reach equilibrium where it won't wear into the gun anymore, but will prevent rust from forming on the surface.
