Could an adjustable gas block setting help to feed steel cased ammo better? I'm at about 80% reliability with steel cased right now (all failures were ftf), 99% with brass.

yeah but now that i think about it i did have to go with a different brass catch because of the reciprocation. not a big deal of course but i can see the disadvantage.
another down side is it makes the screw holding the handle together loosen quickly even with locktight.
upside is you don't need the assist button, you can push on the handle both ways to clear jams or fix partial feeding. since its directly attached to the bolt.
shooting in sub zero temps this is a big advantage, water from your breath will seize the action up on my ar15s after awile and thats the only one i can keep working well.
i think there are left handed side charging uppers that are non reciprocating iirc.
