AK newfag here,

So I noticed in the buyerguide pastebin that PSA GB2 kits were good to go, but I've seen a bunch of hate threads on AKfiles and general sperging out. Is this a case of the vocal minority / few unlucky recipients of classical PSA customer service or should I avoid?

Thanks faggots.

Yeah but the mold 17s are just like every other mold 17 out there, they made a ton and are no different than any other true black mag minus the number, and the brake is literally Ivan forgot to drill a hole and Dmitri didn't notice before he painted it

It's rare in its own vein, there are probably very few like it in the entire world, but for the reason that it was a mistake. It's its own little oddity.

The mold 17s are certainly uncommon but I would not really call them rare. Most likely tons of people have those mags, they just don't sperg over the mold numbers.

Need to get some polymer and a surplus grip now and I'll be happy
>>
>>33797269
just stumbled across it, bought it knowing it was different but unsure what it meant. Doing some research I found another for sale on the files
>>
I just realized that if I do buy an rguns 88 kit and get it built I just sold a US made brake and US made furniture so I'll have to get more to send off with the kit for builder 922r so he doesn't mess with any original parts
>>
>>
Chimps how hard is it to install the rear folding trunnion on an AK. Considering an SGL-21 fixed stock and then doing just the rear myself, then I'll have the front part installed later

Just not sure what's more economical
>>
>>33797354
Just don't send any brake at all and it won't count towards the foreign parts number. It's not how many US parts, it's how many foreign parts that counts.

Just make sure to leave a note saying the brake isn't with it or the builder might think he lost it.
>>
>>33797281
You buy an arm brace with the intent to use it as an arm brace. But if after you buy it you just happen to shoulder it, that's fine.

>>33797394
It *can* be done with a dremel, a hand drill, and a hydraulic press, but it will probably look like shit unless you're very skilled. You will have to demill the rear trunnion without fucking up the receiver, cut the receiver for the hardware, and press the rivets for the rear trunnion. You gotta decide for yourself if you are skilled enough to do that to a >$1000 preban.
>>
>>33797474
>>
>>33797397
But I'll still need some US furniture, correct?

I figure if I do get it and send it in I'll send my old Arsenal two stage FCG and maybe my polymer US made folding stock, but admittedly I'm 100% new to anything build related so I have no idea how 922r works with builders and what I would need to send with it so the builder doesn't do like you say and use a US made piston or something

On my 1968 kit, my foreign parts are:
Barrel
Trunnion
Muzzle attachment
Bolt
Bolt carrier
Gas piston
Butt stock
Handguard

That's 8 parts. It wouldn't be legal with a foreign magazine, but that's not on the builder, I will obviously only ever use my tapcos in that AK to keep it compliant.

>>
>>33797595
So, assuming I get it and send it in with the following foreign parts:
>stock
>PG
>HGs
>bolt
>carrier
>piston
>trunnion
>barrel
>muzzle brake
and either just don't include a mag or send it in with a tapco or something that should be good, or if I do like you said and just don't sent a brake it'll drop the parts by one and still be good

So I can pretty much just send the kit in as is with a US FCG, just keep the original FCG for it at home to obviously not swap out when I get the complete rifle, not send in a mag or send a cheap US mag, and still be good, correct?

I don't know of any variations between izzy triangles aside from having or not having holes in the buttplate and the different angle on the really early ones. All the other 4.5mm ones should be the same in construction. If you want to get one that was actually probably made in the 80's and not one of the new production ones you should probably get one from group 2 or 3. Those are most likely actual AKS-74 takeoffs and will have deeper struck proof marks of the era.

I've got a lead on an 1987 Izhmash AK74 kit that I'm thinking about picking up. Should I have it built as an AK-74 or an AKS-74? I've already got an SLR-104fr and an SLR-104ur but I don't have any fixed stock AK-74s. An AKS-74 clone would be cool but do I really need another folder?
>>
>>33801826
Depends on what you want. I'm the anon really thinking about picking up an 88 kit and I was kind of on the fence about what I want about that too for a bit. A fixed plum stock would be cool but in the end AKS74s are just cooler IMO

Both of you should keep in mind that the 87/88 kits have the dimple-pressed barrel components, rather than pinned ones. You'll need to find a builder who can recreate those; off the top of my head the ones I know who can do it are Meridian and POHF, probably JBI too.

Meridian just finished an 88 kit and has photos of it and the dimple work on their IG, so you can get an exact idea of what you'd get back.

Just be aware that they're still heavily backlogged from the election, but, as anon said, at least you can actually call and expect to get a person on the other end of the line with regularity.

It's actually worse than the story suggests too. A friend of mine does "on the ground" work for the NRA and told me that Springfield Armory said they'd drop opposition in exchange for a carve out from the very beginning, which severely undercut the NRA's opposition to the bill. They hoped that the CEO at SA would bring their lobbyists in line, but he came out in support of dropping opposition as well, which is what helped them get over the 30 vote mark.

Fuck Springfield Armory. I was gonna buy a 1911 from them but now I'll probably have to find a Colt I like instead because I'm not a huge fan of the Sig 1911s and Ruger/Remington fall under my "fuck those guys" list too.

>Dude, idk I'm new to AKs and someone in the reviews said it's circle 10 which I've heard is good.
I always love when newfriends show up and get angry and then demand for help.
>So where do I find surplus steel mags then?
Literally just apex is alright, sometimes aimsurplus. Like with any online gun purchase, don't use your CC, use a disposable because a lot of card processors for these sites tend to get compromised.

>the feel when you start to realize 99% of u.s manufacturers are shit companies compared to their euro counterparts
Yeah sure it's not dipshit
>>
>>33806218
Can't find many places online with Romanian ones in stock.. no gun shows for a while around here.. how are People mags?

Not even him but if you think the measure of a company is purely the "quality" of it's products then you're a fucking moron.
>>
>>33806336
Oh I actually snagged a few of those just to have. I didn't have any issues. Honestly most of my steels are romanian and russian that I've had for a long time

I'm in WA. Their listing says it even comes with three mags.
But I'm on a TN visa and I don't have a hunting license.
>>
>>33807129
My concern is that I believe they use a cast bolt.
>>
>>33807160
Where in WA

Gimme a $400 WASR or three
>>
>>33807076
damn, best we get around here are $500-550 NPAPs from time to time
>>
>>33807175

I thought the new WBP parts were all forged, but why the FUCK is no one trying to import assembled WBP guns, they would get fuckin rich if they priced them at $700
>>
>>33807197
Only the front trunnions are forged for some reason. Also probably the reason why they're not bringing them in is they don't see the money in it. Poland isn't as poor as Romania and Buglaria.

Pinto's. Perhaps its a typo but damn worth trying.
I need to switch my damn visa. Or become a deerfucker, which is probably easier.
>>
>>33807197

Paperwork to import is at the ATF, According to Atlantic firearms.

Personally I'd buy one if they were built on a Recreator, 74ullc, or even a Childers receiver. Those receivers without the proper markings and without the Y and I stamps are gross.
>>
>>33807284
It better be. I want me Y and I stamped Polish WASRs
>>
>>33807233

Arsenal pays $120 for a SLR107, theres plenty of money to be made.
>>
>>33807233
There is nothing wrong with the rear trunnion being cast, rear trunnions have been cast since the 60's. All it does is stop the bolt carrier.

It's more important for the front trunnion to be tough because the locking lugs need to be hard enough that the headspace won't walk out over time, but not too hard or it will crack..
>>
>>33807233

Izhmash uses cast gas blocks and trunnions, and have for over 3 decades.
>>
>>33807295
They pay more like $300 a rifle at most. Military contract prices =/= smaller commerical sales. Also you ignored the part of
>Poland isn't as poor as Romania and Bulgaria
A Polish rifle would probably cost them a good $450-500. Then add the extra $300-500 for some dickhead here in the states to unfuck it from the import sporting bullshit. It's not worth it unless they can reduce, to a minimum, the amount of work they have to do on the rifles. Plus for whatever reason the ATF doesn't Radom and by extension most Polish manufacturers.
>inb4 hurr it's WBP not Radom
>>
>>33807355

How do you know they pay $300? I know they pay $120 (as of 2014) due to it being disclosed in a court case.
>>
>>33807333
I'm referring to the fact that the bolts aren't forgings either. Lrn to read or else I'll start posting pics of your ex
>>
>>33807341
Lrn 2 reading comprehension. The issue is that the bolt isn't a forging. The only info on them refers to them as "machined" which I'd assume would be milled from a billet but we don't know that for sure.
>>
>>33807399
>>33807393
You're a fucking idiot
>>
>>33807381
It's extremely unlikely they're paying $120 per rifle unless they're just getting them as barreled receivers or something.
>>
>>33807403
Lmao, poor little tripfag got btfo because he couldn't bother to read my fucking post right and draw a little inference.

I don't think that's a thing, is it?

I think Waffen Werks made some before they went to shit.

I was looking at some Bulgarian AK74, and when I went on gunbroker I was surprised to find that they do make them milled as well.

It was Arsenal Circle 10
