I had an SWFA fixed 10x on one of my deer rifles for a while. Good scope for the money, but the glass is not jaw-dropping, write home to the folks good by any means. Decent bang for buck, but I would struggle to call it decidedly better. Still had some mild distortion at the edges and the light transmission, while good, does not hold a candle to "really good glass" that admittedly costs a lot more.

For a lightweight fixed 4x combat optic with BDC that can survive explosions and getting run over, the ACOG performs very well at ~$1000.

Clearly some Tangent Theta or similiar optic is going to be better. But the ACOG isnt noteworthy, glass wise.

ACOG is very good simple no bull combat scope with right reticle (crosshair with fiber taped off) fare excellent for tiny group printing at 100yds.

ACOG with front len covered can function like reddot by bindon aiming concept.

ACOG along with aimpoint is unmatched for being bombproof. a lot of high end modern variable fare well for abuse but the eyepiece where they rotate for zoom adjustment is weak point and i have seen them bend away from the main tube.

The optic is gonna make a huge difference. Stock could help, but having rear weight can actually help reduce perceptions of weight by changing the center of gravity.

Yeah, it still is a great gun, I just feel like the new ones are more polyvalent. Like I really feel that my HK45 isn't that big. I am kinda mad that they're going to release SFP9 OR / SFP9 L and not a based HK45 OR.

if area that you will be shooting is less than 400yds accupower with 4x max is adequate per old rule of 1x per 100yds but myself i prefer to get as much magnification i can get like 2-3x per 100yds not because of bad eye(i actually have eagle eye) or anything but because i like to be able to see as much i can. shooting at poorly made target would be easier with extra magnification.

I love SWFA SS fixed because they're super cheap and pretty decent optical quality that you wouldn't see for another $200-300, but in terms of actual optical characteristics, SWFA SS doesn't stand up. Significantly more chromatic aberration, fringing, parallax error, tunneling, reticle misalignment and significantly reduced robustness. Not that the level of those issues are bad for a $300 scope, they're remarkably minimal, but part of what you pay for with an ACOG is having all those things squared away from the start with no luck of the draw.

the thing isnt heavy enough for back damage to be concern and is too irregular and low to be able to lift it with my leg. It's an awesome budget gun. The trigger is really quite good considering the fuckwierd DAO mechanism, but it's very crisp and not too heavy. The gun is ugly as absolute fuck, but despite looking like it would rape your hand, it is surprisingly comfortable to hold and shoot. The big block ass slide is heavy enough that recoil is also surprisingly low for a polymer frame 9mm.

Factory Mec-gar magazines eject with gusto and only cost $25. They'll clear the magwell upside down, which I've never seen before.

If I find a blued U.S. PPK for $600 or a blued German/French PPK for $800 I'd buy it. But that's not likely, so I'll make do without one.

I'm not paying $1,600 for a commercial blued PPK, that's what a pristine NSDAP bakelite PPK went for 10 years ago.

Honestly, absolutely terrific. The guy they have in there now is Nathan, he was the apprentice gunsmith when I started and since took over. Dude knows his shit inside and out, former Marine for 6(?) years and now AF reserves, real good guy.

The charge on smithing isn't cheap there, but they really do top-tier work, just go in and talk to them and they'll write you up and take them in. We did a lot of repairs but there's not much I wouldn't trust that man with, I've seen him do shit I didn't think anyone could. They're the ones that did my P1 conversion and I could think of a thousand good things to say about that place.

You can do it. Just take your time and don't rush. And don't try to make holes completely through the receiver. Make one hole, then flip the receiver and make the other instead of trying to go all the way through.
