Was this guy a spook?
>squadmates that he was weird. "We thought he was a spy or something."
>"wanders" away from a US military base in the middle of Afghanistan--possible exfiltration gone wrong?
>US negotiates for his release for over FIVE years, rather than just letting him die in captivity with no one none the wiser
>US government trades 5 hostages for him
Something ain't right with the official line here bros.
There was a cover up from the beginning about it. Men from his unit have come forward and said (paraphrasing here) "The Pentagon made us sign non-disclosure agreements, promising we won't say anything about him walking away or us trying to get him back, lest we face a discharge."
That said, I don't think he was a spy or a gov. agent or something. I think obummer just wanted to look like he cares about the troops so much, that he's willing to trade 5 terrorist leaders for a PFC. And his administration is unwilling to go full force on a court martial because then obama would have to admit he dun fucked up.
>And his administration is unwilling to go full force on a court martial because then obama would have to admit he dun fucked up.
He is facing full court martial though and potentially faces life in prison.
a spook? no. he was a little faggot hippy who got tired of the army. obama didnt want the negative media that his taliban beheading video would bring, since that would highlight his failure to draw down the war in afghanistan. so the faggot in chief organized a prisoner exchange where the US set free the 5 most wanted terrorists from gitmo
I listened to what he had to say on the Serial podcast and honestly I believe every word of it. I don't think there is a grand conspiracy here I think he's a retard from Idaho who got stuck with bad maybe garbage leadership.
That doesn't excuse what he did. He thought up a fully fucked up solution to a common problem and executed it, that deserves a punishment. I don't think he's a traitor or a spook I think he's just the kind of idealistic full retard that our culture produces and Army infantry attracts.
>listening and believing Serial "Shilling for Mark Boal's Movie" Season 2
At least Season 1 was a straight up who done it murder. Season 2 is just a front for the movie about Bergdahl, she's not even talking to Bergdahl at all just going off taped interviews.
he looks like the guy from cod
you think he was based on that guy?
That's Stabler bruh
Is this a CIA spook thread?
I could barely listen to this season. That broad is so naive and stupid.
>Interviewee:These guys were cutting off peoples heads with no remorse--
>Koenig: Oh wow, the Taliban are bad guys?!
I'm paraphrasing, and I know it's from NPR, but Jesus Christ, her agenda and worldview is so annoying it's hard to enjoy the program itself.
Why does everyone call him a Sergeant? Not a milfag, I dunno.
>wearing flip flops to high level government meeting
Alpha spook behavior right there
I'm getting a boner!
I was saying "comfy" in the meme-y way because I'm also a bit of a fa/tv/irgin. It just means a good movie/show that you can really get into to.
This is a good movie too.
>finger outside trigger guard
Frankly, I don't care. If he did betray the US, then he should be court marshaled, but we bring him back before that. What happens overseas does not affect whether or not we bring our service-members back.
Honestly I didn't realize it was Michael Weston when I first watched the movie.
It made me bust out and rewatch all of the Burn Notice seasons.
It's like a prequel to Burn Notice if you think about it.
Was in the same brigade as him, but in the Cav Squadron. My platoon was on QRF at the time, and in the middle of the night the PSG comes screaming into the barracks, saying that we're up for a Brigade wide search and rescue, that one of our boys got picked up by Johnny Taliban. Over the next hour and a half it took for CH-47s to hit our cop, the story that we were told changed three times. First he got nabbed while on mission, then picked up from a guard tower on the FOB, and then finally that he walked off the FOB. We had to sign non disclosure statements, like>>28646301 says here.
I had friends with him in 1-501 and he's a little shitstain that deserted. Fuck him.
I was in Afghanistan, in the same overall unit but not the part he was. My platoon was on the 'deal with emergancies' duty, and the story we were told as we got briefed for the mission to go look for him changed three times, and he's a shitbag.
that name doesn't ring any bells. I know a Lohse, though. I've not been in the 1-40 for a while now.
