I found a cool way to embed the submissions into the page and I can get it to work with everything except imgur galleries and albums since they specifically disallow it. They only make up 5% of submissions so it might be worth it to blacklist them for the sake of the gallery

So as far as I'm concerned, vacations makes sense if you upload the bulk of what you've been doing during your time off the internet. Alright the new submissions page is live. There's a gear in the top right corner if you want to change the settings.

I enabled the shadowbox by default even though it doesn't work with imgur albums (they give an empty white box with a link to the album at the bottom. You're no longer able to submit imgur albums and I'll go back and replace the ones that are already there)

If you don't like the shadow box you can disable it in the settings.

I'm working on the thumbnails now and I hope to have them available before 00:00 so you guys can start setting custom thumbnails for your submissions

For vacation mode, you should have to front end your submissions like the tumblr queue.

Also, like a job, you should earn vacation based on your years of service. For each month you get one queue token.

For example, If I am taking a 5day vacation, I have to have 5 months of submissions, and then I have to queue up 5 posts before I leave which will auto post during the 5 days I am gone.

btw, as for thumbnails, since you're not storing the images yourself, you can just have direct links to the full size image in ur gallery, and have the html/css width modifier downscale the images clientside (bandwidth rip keks for all the image hosters, but that's on them!)

A way to see what thumbnail's you've clicked on / viewed would be cool, but I don't know how you would implement it.. Ideally without even hovering, but most likely would have to put the header on thumbnails to always on in settings, which is fine I guess if it serves a purpose like this (showing which has been visited).

When it opens in an iframe it doesn't count as you visiting the page so it isn't added to your history so it's not as easy as checking if youve viewed it before.

i could do something with cookies but that would be terrible, just the worst idea.

The smartest thing to do is include new images in the notification system and keep track that way. I'll add it to the list but until then there's not much i can do. it won't be as bad once I get the thumbnails added because you'll at least be able to see a preview. it's going well and there's a chance it'll be ready before 00:00
