They were not important. Freemason is the name of a catholic person with cultural customs tied to it but has always been free to think without the fear of persecution or the need to be persecuted because they abide by the dogmatic truth without imprisoning their faith.
>>568632 How to you unite these personalities? By the grand gesture their military pilitical etiquette and just make up a group abiding with them within their numbers. And call it freemasonry so as not to instigate religious hate or persecution from any side. Its called taking the blank stone from someone.
It came at a time of a scientific revolution. To help people understand each other. Each man gets to cast their own stone. Some people came to power in society who did not believe in anything and started ridiculing the natural. They caused a cultural uproar via laws they propagated. Put it this way go tell a Christian the most holy act in the Christian world is penance. They wont believe because it is clinical depression. Everyone is supposed to be happy. Cultures, customs and humanities are being forgot.
>>568701 Some people got so pissed and through every intelligence community in the world passed on their companies to the people causing the problems. And brought a tabula rasa event of disinformation played by conspiracies themselves. They are just slowly but surely waiting for it to happen. Because some believed they had every intellect to rule and they had never ruled. Thinking they could do better than their presecessors.
>>567850 Somewhat important. Royal Society and whatnot, providing moral and scientific lessons to men. Biggest thing I would say would be that Freemasonry gave Washington the delusion that democracy could work, and so he turned down the kingship of America and doomed the joint.
>>568142 The names are relevant to the story in each degree. And largely no for the dress. Some places do have authentic costumes, but they're regrettably rare. Usual attire is tuxedo or morning suit with regalia. Officers in Royal Arch and the like wear robes, and Knights Templar wear tabards, mantles, and swords (Civil War uniforms in the USA).
I prefer my dad (who has friends who are Freemasons who always try to get him to join) theory:
>a bunch of middle class and wealthy English guys decided to get away from their wives so they could drink beer and wear funny costumes and sing rude songs and decided to help each others business while at it but with ridiculous initiation rites
