What is a good dedicated IP VPN service that isn't crazy expensive? I was going to go with Nord, but the dedicated IP service costs an annual $70 on top of the required regular membership ($69, for a total of $139 per year).

Some trackers warn that accessing their site from a big public IP, such as a college campus network, will forever link your account with any others that have used that IP or will ever use that IP, and if any one of those is banned, so too will yours. I am concerned about this. Should I not be? Does this actually happen?

Did you read your school's policy on piracy/copyright/dmca's? Some schools are incredibly strict and your only way would be either through throttling that hurts your ratio or using a seedbox. Other schools may not give a shit as long as they don't get dmca letters for your actions which won't happen if you stick to private trackers.

Hey niggas

I am playing with the thought of joining jpopsuki, however, I am only interested in CD rips with proper log files.
So do the uploads there typically contain logs?
>>
>>62077997
No.
>>
>>62078009
None at all?
>>
>>62078029
There are CD rips containing logs there but JPS doesn't have a logchecker.
If that's not a problem for you it's possible you will find what you're looking for there.
>>
>>62078132
Okay, thank you.
Guess there could be some decent uploads not available on the other music trackers with proper logs.

I am on APL, RED and NWCD. I heard JPS has a great collection of Asian music, so I am hoping for stuff that's not on either of the general music trackers with proper quality.
>>
>>62079442
lel you think people on RED don't have jpop accounts too?
>>
>>62079466
No, I don't. I just think/hope there are some uploads on JPS that aren't on the other trackers.
Otherwise the tracker would be quite useless if it's just a subset of RED, which is easy to get into anyway.
>>
>>62079518
There's a shitload, don't worry
>>
>>62079466
RED does not have every single album/single that has been uploaded to JPS.
Also, JPS has tons of other Asian content that you will probably not find in any other tracker.
>>
>>62079518

Hello everyone,

I'm on few general trackers like TL, AR and few others. I wonders, what is everyone best place to get 1080p TV shows? Either private or public?
>>
>>62080806
btn but good luck getting an invite to it. mtv is the second best choice and they have an interview system now
>>
>>62080806
BroadcasTheNet is the best (private) tracker for TV shows. It's also ratioless. Your only problem will be to get in.
I got in through PTP a while ago, but that's definitely not the best route right now, maybe someone else can help out describing the easiest path.
>>
>>62080806
As >>62080843 mentioned, you should aim for MTV, as you are not a member of a respectable private tracker, therfore, BTN is out of your reach at the moment.

>>
>>62081880
They honestly should do this. RED already covers the elitist approach to music trackers, so might as well try to go for the numbers.
>>
>>62081983
Seems that Apollo recently disabled ~2000 users after not disabling any for inactivity in the weeks following their return after the prolonged downtime. It seems like they're still not deleting dead torrents like they used to - so torrent numbers seems to be growing, which is nice.

BTN is held in higher regard than it should because the remaining TV trackers are trash, and because of its association with PTP & WCD. It was never in the same stratosphere as the other two. It's the best of a bad bunch.

That's cute. My DSL connection's upload speed is capped at precisely that amount, and allotting even half of it affects my download speeds to some extent. If I'm downloading a torrent with even one person in the swarm who has a connection faster than that they get nearly all of the upload credit. On top of that, I have a 200gb quota each month (I get throttled from 16mb down to 2mb once consuming it). I also actually upload content, and making people wait hours to grab a file is not cool.

That's why I use a seedbox. A dedi from Kimsufi costs me almost nothing.

Is it inadvisable to commit to a VPN that does not allow port-forwarding? I've been in this game for years and have never forwarded my actual ports anyway...
>>
>>62098508
> exactly, the biggest loss possible now is PTP, BTN is a meme
I agree, but I can see TehC picking up the slack after a year or so. BS would be a big loss for Mac users, because most versions of apps are well seeded, which is nice if you have old machines, prefer older OS versions, or simply hate the most recent version of an app. It's basically an awesome archive (more than a decade old at this point) and has no competition. So much stuff would not be reuploaded even if an alternative appeared. CG is also somewhat irreplaceable.

>>62098746

And you've managed to maintain a ratio how? I guess your router has upnp enabled.

If you plan to torrent over a VPN you'll need port forwarding. I was with VyprVPN a few years ago and they forwarded all ports by default unless you specifically enabled their firewall, which was kind of interesting. I'm not sure if they do that anymore. I switched to running VPNs on multiple VPSs in different locations, and use iptables to forward ports. I like and need to do server-side tweaks, so no commercial VPN meets my needs, even if I was dumb enough to pay their ridiculous fees.

You'd think. I was uploading a file over sftp a couple days ago and throttled the speed to half of my total upstream bandwidth. For some reason, download speeds were suffering in the process. Not to the point of being unbearable, but it was taking a hit.

h*h is an incredibly secretive tracker with high profile content. Basically, anything that can't really be uploaded to other trackers is uploaded to h*h. They do not do recruitment besides various IRC vetting, but good luck trying to impress h*h staff because they're so autistic about their tracker they change domain names like every 6 months to remain "exclusive" or some BS. They also don't allow screenshots and use a ridiculous backend that makes "personalized" backgrounds and stats for every member so even taking a screenshot will let the mods know who the user is. Like I said, major autism. If you don't need super rare un-uploadable books/music/videos from other trackers then avoid this tracker, it's just not worth the effort.
