My launch Nexus 5 still gets 3 hours of SOT without any special measures taken, "hax", or custom ROMs. It's mostly on Wi-Fi though, but still, it's been my daily driver for almost four years now.

Anyone have any experience with Japanese phones? I'm looking at the Kyocera KYF31 Gratina 4G as a replacement for my old S500i
They say it runs Android, but it seems navigation on it isn't as straightforward as a touchscreen.

Can an Android phone have comparable battery life to a feature phone?
>>
I have a xiaomi mi4 which is dying, random reboots all of the time. Thought it was battery but the vendor tells me it might be the motherboard.
I can let it get repaired for 35 or 160 depending on which of the two is broken.

Or I can buy a new phone but I dont really want to.

Anyways, recommend me some <200 euro phones with a good build quality, 5" and decent battery/storage ect. Dont care too much about the soc because gaming on a phone is a meme.

Hey I was wanting to get a phone to replace my oneplus one which is refusing to charge and replacing the battery hasn't fixed it.

I have been looking for a phone <£200/$250 and I was looking at the Xiaomi Redmi note 4x.

Is the only difference between the note 4x and the 4x screen size? I have gotten used to the larger screen of the oneplus one.
Am I correct in saying there are 2 different versions one for china and one for the rest of the world which has all of the network bands?
Where would be the best place to buy in the UK? I know gearbest sells it but I was concerned about import charges.
>>

Don't buy those chinkshit trash.

For £200 you can buy a Moto G5+ or Lenovo P2 from 3 or carphone warehouse, both are massively better than this overshilled Xiaomeme crap.

coming from shitty lg l65 on kitkat i'd say miui is better in every way (obviously).
- it uses 1gb of ram, so i have a full 1gb free for apps which is enough for me since all i do is watch porn and play pixel dungeon.
- there's already a new update that i haven't installed yet, might do it today after a backup
- shitloads of options and customization, though most of the downloadable themes are garbage and it makes ricing kind of hard. currently using iOS AfterDark theme which looks good, but taskbar icons are pretty shit and i can't seem to modify them without rooting or changing theme
- maybe it's because of my theme but pattern lock screen looks like shit
- it came with preinstalled Swiftkey (which i uninstalled) and an app for "cleaning" like SD Maid + here are options for limiting battery usage and DISABLING AUTOSTART of applications which is a huge plus for me

can't think of anything more. basically expect some theme "issues" (for a ricefag) everything's good.
as for the phone itself my only gripe is with shitty volume/power buttons.

pic related, work in progress (no klwp/kwgt yet), ignore the icons, i'm having some trouble with them (for some reason custom icons for apps become noticeably smaller)

Redmi 4X has a SD435 SoC, Redmi Note 4X has a SD625. The version you want in the UK is the Redmi Note 4 Global which is basically a Note 4X but with more network bands (including band 20 used in UK). I'm in Australia, prefer unlocked, and my budget would be $100-200 max.

However, I like and use my smartwatch (huawei) too much to sacrifice it.

Short answer, yes.

tl;dr answer: the phone before my samsung didn't have one by default so I downloaded ES manager only to have it change something that made using it a hassle.
Samsung S4 had a clean and easy manager to use off the bat. I didn't have to download and test other managers to see if I liek it it, if it's fast, if it crashes etc...

I picked up the new Moto E4, was using the E2 before. I live in Canada, and it was the same price I paid for the E2 a few years ago.
It's nice. The screen is 720p, but its clear, bright, smudgeproof. You can get rid of the 3 virtual buttons and use the finger print sensor as a 5-in-one touch button. I only get to use 8GB of tye 16GB, but its got Nougat, which runs great on this phone.
There's probably better options depending on where you live (G5, etc), but in the US its $70 with Verizon and I thought it was a steal for $200 here in the Great White North. Check it out if you're on the hunt for a budget phone.

Referral codes from other people, they were posting them on the subreddit, but it looks like the thread is gone. I can give you my code if you want. Eh, mines holding up fine. I keep it in a case and with a screen protector tho. My only complaint(after putting AICP on it) is i wish the headphone port was on the top, and that it had 2 capacitive buttons around the home button. The TouchUI button thing works, but its less intuitive than how samsung or other android phones do it. I want the OP5, but from what I hear the camera isn't that great. It doesn't even have OIS, and one thing I hate about my OP1 is having to take 10 photos, pick the least blurry out of them, and delete all the rest.

It's also gotten too expensive, considering I can buy an unlocked G6 for only $10 more than the higher-end OP5 and the G6 has so many more features.

Depending on how much data and what network you're on, Carphone Warehouse have (relatively) ok deals on S8, assuming you're willing to foot an upfront cost and potentially willing to switch network

Can currently get 16GB of data with Vodafone for £150 up front and £34/m, works out at £966 over the course of the 2 years.

Sim free it's £689, so that's paying £11.54/m for the actual contract

Contracts generally have shit prices, it's 6USD a month for a prepaid 6GB, unlimited calls and unlimited SMS. You can buy additional 10GB for a few USD if you really need it (I don't despite using a fuckton of jewtube and 4chins).
>£689 for s8
Really nice markup, telecom companies must be swimming in cash.

The most frugal way is usually to buy the phone separately and forget about contracts (especially since mobile plans are getting cheaper/better all the time, not worth it being bound to a shitty plan for a whole 2 years).

Jesus christ anon just let it fucking die
No there is nothing for bb os 7.

if you wanna stick with blackberry here are my recommendations cheap to expensive
Q5(+very cheap -lack pointing device)
Q10(+removable battery +nice screen -no pointing device)
Classic(+pointing device -nonremovable battery)
Passport(+really nice screen -nonremovable battery -3 row keyboard)
Keyone(+very good battery life +new +/-android -nonremovable battery -expensive)
If you've stuck with a bold for so long I'm guessing you don't use much apps so I'd suggest you get a classic. The cpu is sort of outdated for somethings but it's much better than whatever you've got in your 9900. I personally use a passport and while blackberry still gives you good options for to trigger the lack of punctuation, it's not as good as having dedicated buttons for it
Plus the passport is too wide

Basically if you are poor/don't care about camera go with Xiaomi, if you want camera and can afford it go with Nokia, if you are retarded or really need the gimmicks for some reason (and can suffer a lot worse battery life) go with a flagship.

I'm getting about 2:30 to 3 hours of SOT, about the same length as when I bought it first. How do you get such a big SOT ?

Poland, so PLN.

https://www.skapiec.pl/szukaj/200/redmi+note+4
Though I was mistaken and it's 770 PLN (~205 USD) vs 1150 PLN (~307USD). Both offer 24 months of warranty.
So it comes down to whether you want a camera and can pay 50% more for it.
>>
>>61111702
Are you talking about the OPO or Nexus 5? If OPO then you have something wrong with your software, or the battery has gone completely to shit.

My OPO is on SultanXDA's CM13, like I said I get 6-8h SoT if I'm on Wi-Fi all day, on LTE it's 4-6h. Usage is mainly browsing and shitposting on clover.
>>
>>61111672
The earlier rumors were saying SD660 for both Nokia 7 and 8, now I'm seeing rumors that are saying the 7 might get a SD630 instead.

You can get Nokia 6 for 250€. You should look at the price when you can buy it. https://elisa.fi/kauppa/#!/puhelimet/Nokia-6

Maybe I could, if they had english version of the site that actually works.

The price will adjust when they actually are selling those things everywhere in Europe.

I want to retire my old Motorola Moto G and buy a phone for my birthday in September (so there's time left)
Country: Germany
Carrier: I am using prepaid-SIM, so it doesn't matter
Wanted features: Android, 16gb or 32gb, camera should take acceptable pictures, preferrably robust
Budget: 150-250€, don't want to pay too much in case I break the phone at work
Size: 5 inches or bigger, I have small hands though

Any advice is appreciated!
>>
>>61111982
Looks like it's a telecom company, they sometimes sell phones cheaper, but make money back by gouging you on your mobile plan.
Just buy it separately and get a good prepaid, most of the time it's actually cheaper that way.
>>
>>61112038
see >>61111402
>>
>>61112056
>>61112038
Also check if it still holds up in Germany, but that's how the price points look just across the border so chances are it will be similar.
But if you can get some ridiculously cheap Nokia 6 like supposedly USA Amazon can get it for 180 USD, then it changes things.

Just remember Nokia will start shipping on 7.07
>>
>>61112043
What? Here tele companies sell phones without plans also. In Finland phone plans are cheap also.

I'm paying 20€/month for unlimited 4g lte with unlimited text messages and phone calls. Also 15gb/month data anywhere in Europe.
>>
>>61112038
Ask again in September, most likely something better than what's available now will be available
>>
I've had my Galaxy S4 for like 4 years. How long can they last?

>What? Here tele companies sell phones without plans also.
Just assuming because no English version of what you linked.
>I'm paying 20€/month for unlimited 4g lte with unlimited text messages and phone calls.
I'm paying 1 USD for 500MB (paid 2USD for 3GB) before but it was too much and now I have 30GB piled up. I also pay ~1USD for the few calls and texts I make.
My sister pays 6 USD for unlimited calls, texts and 6 GB of Internet.
How much data do you actually use?

>>
>>61109669
I wanted the very best. S8, G6, and OP5 were such letdowns that I decided that there was nothing worth my money. Nokia 9 is my dreamphone, but it's so far away in the future that I've decided to settle for the Nokia 6: what I'm looking for is a smartphone with great durability and build quality, good SoT, decent screen, decent camera, and a lot of fluidity.
Ideally I wanted to be able to play Fallout 1 though DosBox, and a bezel-less with top of the line SoC smartphone should be able to do it well, but ultimately I don't really care.

I don't trust chinkphones, because they don't live under the same EU rules, and supposedly Nokia 6 is coming out in Italy soon. Before being able to buy it, I wanted to make some research tho.

Hi guys, first time here.

Looking for a new phone, currently in the US, I have a t-mobile pay-per-minute Sim card which I want to keep.

Currently I have an S5 but want to get something faster, since anything that involves more than text websites takes a long ass time to load (not due to shitty connection, it is the phone)

Any good recommendations? I have seen the blu vivo6, which sounds interesting, but seems to not be for sale in the US?

Budget is ideally <300$, if it is worth it I am willing to go above, but there has to be good reason.
Another extra would be having IP67 protection and an SD card slot which is both the case for the S5, but not the S6 for example :(
>>
>>61112450
Beware that it's 150 USD from chinkland and will cost more in your country. Still quite a bit cheaper than Nokia, unless you live in USA, then Amazon version with ads (which you can remove) is only 180USD. You got to have Amazon Prime though.
>>
>>61112519
Nokia, but it has no IP.

Hopefully the new pixel comes out soon so I can upgrade.
>>
>>61112658
Oh. Then the new compact probably won't release until the holiday season. I am not sure if I want to wait that long.
>>
>>61112608

aside from no 3.5mm jack and not-that-great durability it's perfect, but it's not chinkshit or samshit so nobody likes it.
>>
>>61112056
How bad is the camera? Can't be worse than Motorola Moto G?

>>61112124

>>61112207
I thought I could test the waters a bit and I was under the assumption I'd have to go with an older model in that price range.
I will ask again later then.

Thanks for your input, everyone.
>>

Seems manufacterers stopped adding IP protection a while ago, no new phones except the shitty outoor ones seem to have it.

What do you guys say about the LG G5 in the OP? Seems to be a pretty good deal and by as little as I somewhat understand about phone processors it seems to be much faster than the two you recommended?

I know it does not fulfill my extra criteria, but those would be nice-to-haves anyways and I would rather not have them if i can get something considerably better in speed for the same price.

I am interested in upgrading my LG G4 within a few weeks but not sure what to get.
I am from the US and have AT&T.
As for what I use it for it is mostly web surfing and Pokemon. Battery life is important since my current battery lasts maybe 2 hours if I am using it heavily.

As for the camera, I am no expert in taking pictures and am looking for something that I can quickly open, snap a picture, and be happy with the outcome, instead of changing settings to make the picture look nice.

A jack for headphones would be nice but it seems this is rare nowadays as well as a removable battery so I can swap batteries instead of carrying around a portable battery. Unfortunately it seems that a portable battery is what I am going to end up getting.

Any recommendations?

I need a new phone since my lumia 640 has finally lost support for simple apps such as facebook messenger.

I've been looking at the oneplus brand, the 3T and 5 look neat. From what I've been reading the 5 apparently doesn't seem like it's worth the upgrade, should I pick up the 3T and save a little money or do you guys think its worth spending a little more?

128gb 3T is £440, 128gb 5 is £500. They both look like superb phones that will last years but I'm not sure what oneplus are like supporting their older phones since I don't know too much about them

>>

Learn to use the GSM phone finder:
http://www.gsmarena.com/results.php3?nYearMin=2016&chkUSBC=selected&sIPCerts=5,6

HTC and Sony both have Android skins that is quite near to stock, LG's skin isn't as bloated as Touchwiz either
>>
>>61113952
What's funny after perusing kimovil.com there's no rugged, IP, usb-c phone.
Not sure what you mean by durable, but still pretty sure s8 is very easy to break. No bezels and glass back mean people break them all the time..
>>
>get a 820 phone after living with a 400 phone for 3 years
>shit gets hot as fuck and get my hands all sweaty, so sweaty that the phone literally fell off my hand one time

cpuz says it's just 37°C, apparently a normal temp, but this didn't happened with my last phone, is this just how high end processors work nowadays ?

I'm thinking of selling it and buying a Moto Z Play, a friend has a Xiaomi phone with Snap 625 and the difference in temperature is enormous
>>
>>61114006
Which one of them is durable though.

*gsmarena

>>61114008
kimovil.com is mainly for chinkphones, otherwise gsmarena is usually better
>>
>>61114033
Nah, kimovil has all the western phones too.
You just didn't use 'rugged' in your search.
>>
>>61114048
Though I admit it's worse for 'and' cases, you have to check it one by one for every IP certificate.
>>
>>61114030
They're all glass front and backs, if you want durability get a case
>>
>>61114087
Apart from the ones that are not glass back (like Nokia 6).

Why though? Is it another stupid fad nobody wants but manufacturers push for some reason?
>>
>>61114265

more or less. still, they can look nice depending on the phone (eg the u11 is brety gud) and for most people it doesn't pose a problem. also with mediocre durability they get to sell more protection plans to the goyim.
>>
>>61114006
>>61114008

I've had some instances with my phones where I had to remove the battery to get it to function right again. Usually something draining the shit out of the battery, like a rogue process or being around a ton of phones in close proximity (conventions) for a few days. How do people deal with shit like that happening on phones you cant remove the battery from?
>>
just got an XZP
never had a water resistant phone before
i'm too scared to get even a single drop of water on it
the usbc port and headphone jack are open, can i really take this in the shower?
>>
>>61114572
You can force a restart by holding down the power button (or volume down button and power button) for certain amount of time. Accomplishes the same thing as removing the battery.
>>
>>61114585
Do you have to use it in the shower?
My friend ruined his phones by using it a lot in the shower (and it did have certification).
It's best treated as an insurance in case you drop it in the sink.
>>
>>61114677
That doesn't always work on mine. Especially not the convention times. Like my phone gets hot as shit on standby after a day or two and unless I remove the battery for a little bit it just keeps up.
>>
>>61114692
What does removing the battery accomplish that restarting / turning the phone off doesn't? Also why would the phone heat up from other phones being around it?
>>
>>61114726
I don't know, I just know it's happened. Turning it off for a few hours didn't do shit, but pulling the battery out for 10 minutes did. Until it came back the next day and i had to do it again but still.
>>
>>61114769
Sounds like you need a new battery.
