I'm currently using an s4 mini while waiting for the note 8.

Feels kinda nice having such a small phone, I end up using it solely for communication and not browsing the web etc.
>>
When are snapdragon 660 phones going to be announced?
>>
>>61088215
I'm considering an iPhone 6S, but I haven't actually tried one. I have a few questions:

Is it true that you can't download files from the internet to the iPhone's storage without jailbraking?
I am considering the iPhone mostly because of it's good user experience, such as having little touch latency and smooth animations.
Are there any Android phones that match iPhone's touch latency?
>>
Is OnePlus 5 broken by design? Do you guys get the Wifi working?
>>
>>61088350
From OP
>It is likely that the delayed arrival of Moto X4 is because Qualcomm is struggling to fulfil the demand of Snapdragon 660 that is expected to power a couple of mid-range phones including the Moto X4.

Oppo R11 already came out with the SD660, sounds like we'll be seeing more phones with it in the coming months. There's Moto X4, Samsung Galaxy C10 and Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 / Mi6c, all rumored to have the SD660.
>>
oh the moto g4 play I bought for my dad arrived and it feels and looks pretty sexy, no lag everything smooth
did not expect that for 100€
and it's thin enough

it makes me question why I should ever spend like 800€ on a phone (if I don't care about gaymes and shit)
>>
Is the Redmi 4X a good replacement for my aging 1+1? The resolution is lower of course (which I don't mind) but it seems better in every other way? Do Xiaomeme devices have poor ROM development scenes?
>>
>>61088450
You shouldn't
Onòy people which play too much with their phone or that need to show off how much disposable income they can waste in stuff like this need that stuff
>>
>>61088454
Most Xiaomi phones have great ROM development scenes, but for some reason the 5" Redmis seem to get way less developed for them than the Redmi Note phones. So get a Redmi Note 4X / 4 Global if that's what you want.
>>
>>61088450
>it makes me question why I should ever spend like 800€ on a phone
Good, you're breaking the conditioning
>>
Say I want:

>Snapdragon 625 minimum or competitor alternative
>Battery at least 3500mAh

What's the absolute cheapest phone that fits all these requirements?
>>
>>61088585
Lenovo P2 for £200 from Three, has everything you listed except USB-C.

Yes you can't open your downloaded files unless you install appropriate apps. For example, if you try to download a zip file through Safari, you will need Documents app. The user experience is bretty gud but it all comes down to personal preference, you might want to have torrenting capabilities and such. I recommend borrowing an iPhone from one of your friends and try it out on the spot.

looking for a new phone since my current one is old and dying. i did a bit of research but i don't know enough to come up with a good decision:

- needs to work with sprint cdma/lte
- i prefer a fingerprint reader (can live without though)
- must be able to root
- preferably nonbloat rom or something i can replace easily

my family uses samsung, right now i have a galaxy s5 but the manufacturing quality doesn't seem the best and it came installed with a lot of bloat that i had to remove. good idea to avoid samsung?

What is the best lont term phone I can get in EU for around 300 Euros?
I need good battery, decent SoC, at least 32GB of memory adn good modding support, so it can live like my G2 for 3 years (it died on me randomly two days ago, i'll miss him)
I was looking at Le eco Max 2, zuk z2 pro or the Axon 7 on chinese shops, but i fear it being a fake
What you suggest?

OP3/3t are not at that price range
Moto G5 is nice but not that great, by specs are be lower than zuk or le eco
Mi5/s seem gud but last time i tried to mod xiaomi stuff i ended up wasting about 6 hours and days waiting for them, have they gotten better at this, also seems to be a bit expensive
>>
>>61089570
if you find it at 150£ it seems like a pretty gud deal
>>
>>61089612
OP3T can be had for 350€ from Gearbest, also you can probably find OP3/3T at around 300-350€ if you buy used. In terms of modding support they're the best choice.

>>
>>61089785
SD625 is more efficient as it's using low power A53-cores while the SD660 is using high power Kryo 260 cores.
>>
>>61089769
Lenovo (which owns Motorola too) are pretty shit with updates, they do update most of their phones but they take ages to release the updates. Moto G5+ will get Android O 100% guaranteed but The P2 is an older phone so it might not get it.

Moto G5+ already has plenty of ROMs available, it has an unofficial LineageOS which will eventually become an official build. (All the Moto phones have great ROM support). The P2 doesn't have as good ROM support but there's still quite a few ROMs available.

I'd also check out Redmi Note 4 Global, it also has the SD625 SoC and a 4100mah battery. The Dev build of MIUI gets weekly updates and Xiaomi is still updating phones it's released in 2012. There's also plenty of custom ROMs available for it on XDA.

Atleast they include the best earbuds with a phone so far.
Measuring the ear canal and applying a counter equalizer is some innovation.

I'm considering getting it for the sound innovation alone, the only thing that keeps me away is the build quality and the price.

I don't think it's a worthy upgrade to the legendary One m8. Not without stereo front facing speakers or a full metal body.

My Xperia Z3 Compact died due to water damage after 3 years. I loved my phone for its battery live and compact size. Never had any performance issues either. You can tap the share button to relay the files to appropriate apps.

You can't move entire folders but you can zip them and relay them that way.

Either way, it appears that files move around in the apps at the speed of 300MB per second, so I wouldn't expect a delay while relaying the data. At least on an iPhone 6s or higher.

that's usable but pretty bad, i guess if you share the file to another app it will make a copy of it in the app folder

what does /g/ think of this?

i'm currently using a galaxy s4 which is on the verge of dying and I'm strongly considering this one...

I do value a good camera and a good display for VR, but the price is a bit high...

I'm either getting this or the OP5, because for the price the specs seam reasonable although i've heard of faked benchmarks

OnePlus-5-Review-14-840x473.jpg

I need help deciding on my next phone, in torn between the oneplus 5 and the galaxy s8.
Here are my arguments (pros):
Oneplus 5:
Excellent fingerprint scanner
I like the dual camera gimmick (bokeh especially)
Easily rootable
Dash charge
OxygenOS
$540

Galaxy s8:
Water resistant (no balls to use it in water, won't do it ever).
Great tested camera
Samsung brand name (trusted big company)
Wireless charging (probably won't use it)
Iris scanner (won't use it, prefer fingerprint)
Huge screen with tiny bezels.
$650

For me both phones have cons, but i feel like the s8 has more cons than the oneplus 5. I need something to convince me to go for one or the other, I've seen countless reviews and none of them we're of any help.
I don't know if this matters but i can only get my hands in an exynos s8.
Thoughts?

I think i should have stated what i consider to be cons for each device (for me atleast) so here goes, this might add a bit of context to the argument:
Oneplus 5:
Oneplus make promises they don't keep, not so good on the updates.
No ois so 4k recording has an earthquake effect.
No water resistance (even though i won't ever use my phone near water i still might drop it in accidentally, something that had happened before to me)

Galaxy s8:
Samsung (its a pro AND a con, more specifically the Samsung experience)
Root voids warranty and his long you have to wait for root.
That retarded fingerprint sensor.
Nothing other than those but they really turn me off of the phone.

I have a OPO, looking to upgrade to a OP5.

I really like my OPO, it's comfy and I think it's one of the most well designed phones ever to grace this earth (I have sandstone version).

Thinking of upgrading to a OP5, is it worth it? Is there really any difference? Considering I don't really play games on it, I usually just browse chans and use it for social media, is there any real advantages to upgrading to a OP5?

Also, looking to buy my younger brother his first smart phone, something new that'll keep up with his friends but not terribly expensive (anything under $800 is fine).

Advice?

USA, no carrier specifically atm. I'd want something that I could do basic things with: surfing the web, gaming, etc. Doesn't have to be the "hottest new thing", but I'd like quality if the price is right.

The biggest issue with the Nexus 5 is the shit battery life. LG G2 has basically the same hardware as the Nexus 5 but it also has a bigger battery. Don't know how the prices are where you live but you might be able to find used 2014 flagships (Galaxy S5, HTC One M8, OPO)

Yes, it's a good phone without any major flaws like many other many phones seem to have (like no expandable storage, no headphone jack etc.). True, it's more of a midrange phone than a flagship but it should still be a noticeable upgrade from the Z3c. And it's not like there's plenty of alternatives available in terms of size.

Apparently Sony is releasing a compact size flagship again this year, the XZ1 Compact with SD835, 4GB of RAM and 2800mah, but I guess with a broken phone waiting isn't an option for you.

FYI, I considered doing this myself but didn't think I'd like the S8 because of the software, the screen shape (easy to press the sides accidentally, no good screen protectors), and the location of the fingerprint scanner.

I'm currently thinking about buying the OP5 tomorrow, but I'm still considering other options.

I'd like a ~$450 phone with stock Android (or close to it), OIS, a fingerprint scanner, and water resistance. Specs aren't that important, since all I do is browse the web and take photos.

Is there any phone like that? I'd probably get the G6 if it were a bit cheaper.

Actually considering the G6 now that I've found it unlocked on Amazon for $550. That's only $10 more than the high-end OP5, but with more features I want. It's a bit more than I really want to pay, but I'd love to have OIS and water resistance.

I'm seriously considering it as well. Coming from a oneplus one, though, it seems so expensive. I'm not really sure if I should go for the version with more ram/storage either.

sick of apple memes, upgrading from an iphone 6. should i get a s8, pixel, or opo5?

big on watching videos + listening to music/podcasts, i don't give a shit about cameras - never take photos/video, I have very few apps outside of default call/text/email that I use
>>
>>61100379
I can't wait any more. My current phone is going down.

The 1+5 has good looking performance, seems to be pretty close to stock android, and is a lot cheaper than an S8.

So why shouldn't I be looking at it as a good pickup?

If that's all you do then why not consider a midrange smartphone? The only reason to consider a high end phone is for the camera/design

not against it. anything to suggest? not really sure what qualifies as midrange

the oneplus x seems to fit my needs even though its older but it sounds like it lacks LTE on my provider, ATT

It's usually phones from the 300-500 range. I'd say a ZTE Axon 7. I believe it works on ATT

That's true, I didn't check the store before. Even without the sale they are probably the best options though.

I just did a search for phones released this year that have 7.1 and it returned 25 results so no they're not, and you shouldn't buy the OP5 because it's chink shit that cheats at benchmarks and then throttles extensively to avoid igniting the air around it.

hey guys /int/ here. I need some advice so thanks in advance. my iphone 5s has died, it has been overheating for a couple months now, I had actually filled up its memory (which I think also did help to damage it)

Today it started going really slow, later in the evening the apps started failing. I tried deleting about half the images/memes I had already downloaded on my computer but which I was stubborn to delete off my phone (around 1100) to give it more space but the phone shut down. Later I restarted it and all the pictures were gone. Tried to restart it multiple times, the images were gone. Later on it shut down, I've tried to turn it on with no success, after the apple logo appears it shuts down again.

I looked into apple forums but they say plug it in to your computer and reset it using itunes, which does not work as it doesn't recognize it. I also tried doing the home button plus power for ten seconds but leads me to the same result.

So here's my question....
give me a better phone than the iphone SE from the cricket wireless website.https://www.cricketwireless.com/cell-phones/smartphones It's currently 169 usd. I rather not pay fucking 169 but it does look like it's a decent phone. I don't have much experience using androids.

Please give me a good advice, I need a phone to work and I probably will buy whatever I get from these replies tomorrow morning ASAP

>it's chink shit that cheats at benchmarks and then throttles extensively to avoid igniting the air around it.

The guy from XDA who revealed the benchmark thing in the first place clarified what he said and how the OP5 works. They aren't cheating at benchmarks specifically, the processor uses different clusters for different shit, so when it needs to whip out its dick and load something it goes to the higher clock clusters. Which is what a benchmark makes it do. So its not that it's cheating on benchmarks, it's just tossing all the benchmark processing at the higher clusters. And the phone can handle it

>Finally, and at the risk of coming off as confrontational, I’d also like to take a moment to mention something that displeased me about this report’s reception: it has been shared all over the world thousands of times, and re-blogged by thousands of outlets as well, but its message and details are either shrouded in fog or dropped completely along the way. I’ve seen such blatant and appalling incorrect coverage of this article, with terrible misrepresentations of what we said, what we found, the mechanism itself, and OnePlus’ statement and plans for the future. In fact, here are some things I want such blogs to know: OnePlus didn’t “tamper” with reviewer units; the issue also extends to consumer units; it is a conscious decision by OnePlus; no, they did not tell us that would change; thermal throttling might be relaxed, but the phone is not at risk of explosion; there is no “cheat code”; we are actually happy with the device’s actual performance, do not twist our words; Qualcomm has nothing to do with this; we never “shamed” HTC and Samsung in our reports, we mentioned them in passing and for context in our first article, due to a much older incident. That’s just a fraction of the common errors I wish I could address.
>>
>>61101546
>Too many articles and videos we’ve seen have had a fundamental flaw and misunderstanding that, in our opinion, butcher the hours of careful data collection and analysis that went into this article. What’s worse, the problem is exacerbated when we read Indian or Chinese blogs which further destroy our findings due to the inherent difficulties of translation. Ultimately, we are extremely disappointed in tech media’s handling of this report, especially those who used our conclusion to write “hit pieces” against OnePlus, which we really never intended. We said it above, we said it in our first impressions, and we said it again: the product itself is good, performance is phenomenal.

>better phone than iphone SE at a similar price range
you're fucked goy, just get the SE

I say this as an android owner, you do not want to settle for a poordroid at that price range. They are never supported for long and will lag lag lag. Premium phone, old model iPhone, dirt cheap android if you just need basic functionality, or nothing.

Midrange androids are the biggest cuck ever, there is no reason to buy them at all, people just buy them because they can't afford premium Androids and iPhones.

>>
>>61101675
thanks for responding. I'm sure the goy connotation comes from not knowing about some mi6 stuff I was reading about? Probably the government or something spying on people through the processors. Not that I don't care but I don't care. The machine is too powerful to be giving it my energy.
>>

Resolution does suck but it's pretty color accurate I hear which is its saving point.

>so small battery
I admit I am not sure what the deal is with this.

>so bad processor, so little ram etc.?
Now here's where you are wrong. The processor isn't bad, it's the fastest in a smartphone. The RAM also doesn't seem to matter since it still keeps apps in memory better than Androids with way more RAM than it.

No it was just a generic insult. Back to mid range androids though I was probably a bit too tough on them. Some of them have things like waterproofing, so if you wanted a specific feature like that you would have to buy a midrange android rather than a cheap one.

But in a general sense, midrange androids are shit. Even if you are poor, you're better off just saving money by getting a dirt cheap one, or waiting for the next paycheck for something good. I would never buy midrange Android even if I had no money for a premium, it's just not giving much bang for your buck, imo.

It's like if I offer you these 3 prostitute choices

>Cheapest - not great looking but will do the job
>3x more than the first - not as bad looking at the previous but pretty much will do the same thing
>20x more the the first - literal goddess

Most of the features of a midrange Android are the exact same as a cheap one but the screen is slightly higher resolution, camera is a bit better, or whatever. Neither one will play the newest games or take great photos or anything. Both of them will cease to get updated and start to lag after a year. You may as well just get a good phone or spend less and go home with a poorfag one. I don't know about the SE but I have heard good things and it's technically like an iPhone 6 in a smaller package, and iPhone 6 is still really modern.

If that is your price range limit iPhone SE is probably the best. Haven't had an iPhone in forever though.

>>
>>61101938

>>
>>61101924
Do you think a poorfag phone will work fine for stuff like uber and accurate gps navigation? If it does I might consider getting one while I get more more to buy something better only if it does that. Sadly at this moment uber is my money maker and just had a 2000 car repair, I rather not spend more money at this exact point.
>>
>>61101938
Probably the Nexus line before Google killed it, but the Nexus line is more expensive than some actual chinkpads, and chinkpads were often about the price
>>
>>61101980
poorfag phones will drain battery fast and have shitty screens that probably reflect in your eyes, but they should technically be able to do that stuff

if you are coming off an iphone for the first time you just have to realize not everything "just werks" on android

they all support maps and shit these days, but that doesn't mean using them isn't a pain in the ass

Hello
I want to retire my old Motorola Moto G and buy a phone for my birthday in September (so there's time left)
Country: Germany
Carrier: I am using prepaid-SIM but it's shit (500mb mobile data, 9€/month, congstar), appreciate any advice on that if someone's willing to help
Wanted features: screen bigger than 5 inch but not massive, camera should take acceptable pictures, preferrably robust
Budget: 150-250€, don't want to pay too much in case I break the phone at work
Size: 5 inches or bigger, I have small hands though

Any advice is appreciated!
