Why does systemd suck so much?

I see linux supports the Dazzle DVC90 capture card.

On a 64-bit operating system, the device is picked up but I only get audio.

I remember years back, like maybe Fedora 14, it worked on an old 32-bit PC from the early 2000's.

Help a noob to break out of the botnet.
I've installed Kubuntu alongside Win 10 in my laptop (Dell 7559 with a dGPU) and the nouveau drivers are a pain in the ass. Whenever I boot into Linux, a blank screen is displayed and after sometime, the soft lockup message is displayed. I've edited the bootup config as `nouveau.modeset =0` yet it displays a blank screen after displaying the logo.

The benefit is that it will load the editor with the user configs, rather than with root configs and it will also only actually write to the original file when there are changes. The edited file is a temp file, so in case of a crash, nothing is lost.

Because it's written in C. The file chooser widget is written in GTK+, which is one of the most popular C's GUI library. People know about this already.

As a software developer, I would not touch obsolete POS language such as C, let alone GTK.
For me, it's easier to develop something else rather than fucking with obsolete featureless languagelet like C(ancer). Using C for anything but micro controllers and kernels is pants on head retarded, specially GUI. GUI is MEANT for Object Oriented Programming and C doesn't have that level of sophistication. Developing in C is literally a worthless timesink because C does not have anything to offer but timesink: C has no templates, operator overloading, exception handling, type checks, runtime checks, constructors, lazy evaluations, monads and the list goes on. If you are not hacking the very language itself with macros shitting all over the source files you wouldn't trivial things such as get function overloading.
C does not have exception handling. It's meant for 80's computing and the projects that are written in C are unironically stuck in the 80's: like GTK+
Even after you have gone through the agony of using a language that is a disservice to the intelligent programmers (Linus doesn't count, he's on a different level and not everyone is Linus), you have to worry about memory safety.
C is not memory safe. As if the timesink development was not enough pain, you have to test your program for possible security vulnerability. When K&R came up with C, it was an ancient time. C's priority was being able to produce binaries that can run in an 800MHz processor with 64MiB RAM that can fit into floppies. Security was NOT a concern.

Coincidentally, KDE file chooser has thumbnails and guess what language it's written in: it's C++.

Is there a good guide into installing arch linux that just tells me step by step what to do? The install guide on the arch wiki is so nebulous and tells me to go to other pages constantly. I get that it's supposed to teach you how to do it but I learn better from actually doing the action first and then branching off from there.

That's just dumb. The only reason you'd need to read those externals links on the ArchWiki is if things go in an unexpected way, and no guide will be able to cover it if that would happen.

Just read the fucking installation guide from the wiki, and if you don't want to learn how to make optimal choices (what the external links are for), just choose one random option from the commands presented and see if it will work.
It's just the same as following a setp by step guide offering a definite recipe, which is just as unlikely to work on your system.

given that the Gentoo installation seems based around downloading a separate tarball, rather than files included in the live usb, can I theoretically use any distro's live USB to install it and chroot? I'd probably rather use Arch's iso because i'm too much of a brainlet to figure out wpa_supplicant in Gentoo. I need something like wifi-menu or networkmanager.

can anyone rrecommend me a quick gnu/linux distro to only do torrenting with? i would have installed fedora 25 workstation + vuze because of familiarity but i need something lighter.

thinking about booting puppy linux slacko and then installing deluge, but there must be something else that fits my needs

Anyone got an r9 290? I get tons of glitches in a lot of 3d games, some work, but most don't. Mostly no textures. I tried the radeon driver and the amdgpu driver, both glitch out the same. How do I make it work? I'm using mesa 17.0.3 and linux 4.10-19, please help.

Also in one game I could select whether I want to use the core version of opengl or extensions or disable the feature, and extension gave the most interesting result, I could see some kind of bumpmaps loading, but still no textures. Core was just black and no textures, disabling completely gave me a skybox and white instead of textures, so what the hell could be going on? Interestingly some models had textures, but it were always the same models. Most games just show me black instead of textures, but again not everywhere and consistent.
