First make sure that there is free space (4GB minimum recommended), shrink your windows partition if you already didn't:
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg309169.aspx

Then, download the GNU/Linux distribution of your choice, I use OpenSUSE and it comes with the choice to install GRUB boot loader.
But first, keep in mind that your HDD needs to be not too old, because GRUB gets installed in the same volume as the firmware, if your HDD is old then it has little free space and the firmware might get overwritten, making booting impossible or even bricking it.

GRUB is the boot loader that allows you to choose which OS to run, when you switch on your machine. I've installed it on a old Maxtor (2008) HDD and it boots fine both OpenSUSe and Win7, but when I tried uninstalling OpenSUSE, windows wouldn't boot anymore (it fucked up the firmware), still, it booted fine after reinstalling GRUB and OpenSUSE.

Everything else is automated by the installer of the GNU/Linux distribution, but if you still aren't sure then watch some YT tutorial:

whats the best way to dual boot off two separate drives?

it cost nothing to try that. Then you'll maybe consider using a proper OS.

More seriously, sometimes with your mobo there's a software that comes to handle the audio on your system. Realtek audio or some shit like this, maybe you can configure something from this kind of useless software.
Or try to disable your other sources of audio and make the HDMI default one.

Recently bought a new mobo, new ram, new gfx card, new psu, new cabinet, new processor. All in medium range for gaming. Didn't buy new harddisk and mine is old af. i can run every game smoothly like witcher 3, quantum break etc.
But normal tasks like opening chrome and opening several folders takes ages and so does boot up. Could my hard disk be bottlenecking my pc?

Tried on /biz/, but those guys just pump&dump without any actual knowledge of the coins.

I mined ETH in 2016 Q1, and after that forgot about my wallet. I asked on IRC about my coins, and someone stated that I now have the same amount of ETH and ETC which makes no sense to me personally.

Could someone elaborate on what happened during the Ethereum hard fork, and what is the situation with my precious bytebux?

I want to begin using a personal wiki.

I don't care about having to host it myself or it being hosted in 3rd party.

My priorities are ease-of-use and being able to access it anytime, anywhere, and from any device.

I'm gonna try DokuWiki right now (as self-hosted), and was looking forward to check first PBWiki (as a service by 3rd party).

What have been your personal experiences with personal wikis?

How exactly does eGPU bottleneck calculate? According to the figures I've heard, an eGPU setup running through an ExpressCard 1.0 interface has "60%" performance compared to a proper desktop PCIe interface – does that mean you'll get 60% of the performance of the card, regardless of what card it is? My phone had a stroke of sorts, or more probably maybe my micro sd card inside it. I'm missing a bunch of files from a folder, few are ok and even fewer of them had a garbled filename and extensions. save their number under a recognizable name so you can either reject it or leave it on so they waste money on calling you for nothing.

They never use the same number twice and although its usually a number with an out of state area code. So I'm trying to add a font to windows 10's command prompt, and I'm doing the same thing I did that worked under windows 7: add a new entry to the registry under Windows NT/Console/TrueTypeFonts or something like that (the same instructions that anybody would get if they googled this).

I had no trouble adding my fonts to the list under windows 7, but they aren't showing up as options in windows 10, even after rebooting. Does anyone have experience in doing this? The font I'm trying to add is Century Schoolbook Mono BT, which is the monospace font I was able to use under Windows 7.

I don't think so, not in majority consumer retails anyways.
If you're looking to power an LCD there's people out there running them from the 12v rails inside the case from the PSU, and then external wiring to the monitor.

I posted in here awhile back about my Alienware Alpha.

Basically I couldn't get into the system, because the screen would be completely blank, and there was a mysterious other account that i couldn't log into.

After multiple attempts to get into Safe Mode I finally was able to. I'm not sure what I did differently this time. I reset to factory defaults (which means I lost Windows 10 and I am back to 8) and it works fine now, or so I thought.

I went over to browse Tom's Hardware and I got an Amazon popup that looks like I searched for RAM sticks, And now it seems every site I go to (sans 4chan) is giving me popups like this, stuff that is related to the content in some way in a way that looks like I searched for it.So clearly there is still some bullshit still on here.

I guess the only solution is to do a deep wipe, but obviously the Alpha doesn't have CD drive, and I don't have an external, so D-BAN is out of the question.

Do you guys have any suggestions?

Just had a problem with a power split plug (pic related), the switch has somehow broke and it didn't light the plug but I heard a little buzzing sound from the power split plug and from my PSU in my PC. Very light buzzing like bad contact, so I just changed the power split plug for a new one.

But I'm worried about the very light buzz sound I heard in my PSU for a couple seconds when I tried to light the power split plug. My PC runs well though. Could it have damaged my PSU (a seasonic s12) ?

Some time second half this year, nothing more specific has been announced. The APU parts may not be branded Ryzen.

Beat HD4600 for sure, Kaveri already does that. Match 1050Ti probably not, RAM bandwidth available is the limiting factor. If the rumoured HBM APUs come to desktop ever they could be quite a bit more powerful, but likely wouldn't be AM4.

>>
If I'm wrong, correct me anons.

>>60313311
An example to that would be if suddenly the ISPs decide that only some customers with X plan will get free data to those hosting. You're violating neutrality because you're not offering same to every one.

It lacks details but would be a good resume imo.

I know it comes at the cost of disabling power saving features (more idle power draw, temps, wear), and adds no performance benefit in CPU-heavy tasks.

Technically at first I just wanted to replace a few parts of my PC, because my videocard is ancient and dying. But then my HDD started malfunctioning as well, so random parts of the Windows stopped responding every other week.
The situation kinda reminds me of the City of Ember when everything is falling apart and the end is neigh, but it's a lot less fun happening to me.

Anyway, got 8 gigs of RAM, probably the only salvageable part of my PC. Hence my question whether I should trash the whole thing or would it be worth keeping the CPU. In my country they aren't particularly cheap but.. yeah. If it's worth it I'd be willing to buy a new one.

Well my father died two years ago. After a while I realized since he wasn't using his PC anymore, so I could switch his video card with mine. But it turns out, just because a video card is newer, shinier and more silent, it doesn't automatically mean it's better.

I upgraded a computer with all new parts and now it fails to boot.
None of the parts are faulty and the hard drive's files can be accessed otherwise, it just won't boot into the OS. It hangs at a black screen with a blinking cursor.

I've tried using F8/Shift+F8 to boot into safe mode, but it's Windows 10 so I don't know if it's just not working or if there isn't enough loading time for it to recognize the keystrokes, I've heard of that being a problem.

I've tried burning a Windows 10 disc in order to access recovery options, but when I boot from the Windows 10 disc it gives me a blue screen with a "A component of the operating system has expired" error message.

What am I to do? Was the image I used for the Windows 10 disc bad? Is there a way to get Windows 10 to boot into safe mode without accessing the OS first?

He's right, but that's kind of a confusing way to think about it conceptually. It's much easier to think of those types of problems in fractional terms. I'll demonstrate.

864 is 60% of what number?

60% can also be represented as the fraction 6/10. To find the answer, you just multiply 864 by the inverted fraction.

864 * 10/6 = 1440

140,000 * 10/7 = 200,000

For some reason, Flash Player (The standalone one) has a habit of killing my sound when I have it running long enough (which can happen when I'm playing porn games with it). I end up having to restart the computer to fix it. What can I do about this? Update something?

This is what happens when I click "show hidden files in entire windows system".

And now I have a problem with trying to extract an .exe file in .rar format and it just up and kills itself. I put all my anti-virus shit to just quarantine and nothing happens. (and I've tried ccleaner and malewerebytes.)

Oh I didn't think of that. There are addons specifically for android on firefox, and unfortunately neither of the two you mentioned work. It's annoying because they can be installed, but not enabled.
There's other stuff like Flash Video Downloader, but I can't distinguish which of these are good and bad addons.
Do you have any experience with these in particular?

I need to run a very specific program in Windows suddenly, though my laptop is set up with only Fedora installed. I'm on vacation and the connection quality to my desktop PC is too slow to use what I need. I've tried wine and a VM but really my only option is to dual boot.

Is it possible for me to shrink my LVM and install windows as dual boot without screwing up my fedora install?

thanks, the fans were internally wired to psu so i don't think they're hardwired on.
>>
>>60317992
You need to tell windows to enable the AHCI drivers. Can do this either by booting in Safe Mode once with the SATA set to AHCI mode, then you can reboot back to normal mode. Or you can use regedit https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/61869-ahci-enable-windows-7-vista.html

>>60318070
It does, everything since Vista has had AHCI drivers included, problem is it doesn't bother looking for them on boot if it was previously booting using IDE drivers.
>>
>>60306513
you can get the same level of customization with (arguably) less effort.
>>
>>60319206
You generally can't, PSU fans are usually connected to a hardware controller inside the PSU, and there's no data connection between PSU and rest of the system at all.

Not possible, thermodynamics forbids it. Unless you count things like night vision devices.

Microsoft Edge handles all the webpages I visit in unpredictable ways. Sometimes clicking inside a text box doesn't work and so I have to use the cursor keys to go back and edit.

Also, many symbols such as the Post Menu symbol are broken. Common websites like YouTube and Netflix also have very unpredictable behavior when clicking non-hyperlink things like the like button and the Video Manager's GUI.

I think it's best to just set the BIOS to boot from each drive whenever you want to swap. that way you never worry about needing the other drive's boot sector to recognize the former drive in case you unplug one or it dies.
>>
>>60319806
note my response was based on your question stating booting from two DRIVES

I presume one operating system per drive

obviously, if it's the same drive, but different partitions, setting it in the BIOS wouldn't be an option

if you mean it's getting more attention by nvidia/amd to make good drivers, mesa getting competitive, and steam giving attention to linux, then sure

CSGO specifically has a native linux port

You'll get less "grinding" like noise from the head moving around, but still the same "wooshing" like noise from the platter spinning while it's on. If you're not using it regularly it can spin down, in which case it's totally silent, but takes a few seconds to start up again when you need it.

Is there any kind of device on the market that would allow me to set up my PC audio the way I would like?

I have

I'm looking to connect the microphone and speakers via USB, preferably without having a separate interfaces for the microphone and speakers. I don't know much about audio stuff, but I'm looking for something with two inputs (mic and PC) and two outputs (PC and Speakers). Extra bonus points for something that doubles as an amp for the speakers, but I don't know if that exists.

Hopefully the picture is clearer, I'm looking for something that would serve as the box in the center.

I don't know what any of that means but to clarify it's one signal on channel 6 that interferes channels 2-10 as opposed to just interfering with 4-8 like the others on channel 6. Also it occasionally has a stronger signal than my own wifi somehow.
