Finally a watch for adults without any bullshit meme stickers or writings on the cypher sheet.

Why would anyone ever care where the fucking watch was made when he wants to know the time?
Why would anyone ever would know the brand of the watch if he wishes to know the time?
>"Wait a minute, just refueled my AMG Mercedes, let me check what time it is. Oh! It says it's 50m water proof on the front! Nearly forgot about that again! Thank god my watch just told me."

Fucking retarded.
And the wealthy nigger cattle still buys all that memery with "rolex" or "breitling" enblem on it.
Why not also write "TURBO" or "HYPER HYPER" on it while you're at it.

I meant that it seems a bit thick, should have written that more clearly.
>>
>>58910928
It's about average for a steel case watch I'd say. It fits under a shirt cuff no problem. I'd say because it's very 'flat' it wears thinner than it is.
>>
>>58910537

How much of a bitch is bezel insert replacement? I have an skx031j that the person who refurbed it never secured the bezel insert on. I may grab pic related and throw it in there in the next few weeks when I get paid.
>>
>>58910939
I see, I guess I'll consider it then. How does it compare to the Casio F-91W in more technical aspects? Like, does the battery last long, does it keep time well, and is it simple to set the time?

Also, how wide is the strap?
>>
>>58910953
Oh, by the way, does it use a standard battery like a CR3032?
>>
>>58910945
It's easy as fuck. If you can change a strap you can swap a bezel insert.
>>
Are there modern digital watches with only text in Cyrillic? I think it looks really cool, but Soviet watches must be really unreliable at this point since they have a quite a few years on their back.

The battery is probably 3-5 years, I dunno what type as I haven't changed it yet.

It keeps time as well as any digital watch. And is as easy to set as any other digital watch.

It has a 20mm lug width, it comes with a rubber strap but I swapped for a Strapcode super engineer that cost more than the watch.

If it would, people would post pictures of Einstein'n'shit ITT. They don't. Nobody talks about gravity and it's effects on time.
Niggers ITT don't even know how to back up a Mac.

These threads aren't about discussing watches or timepieces. They are for bragging about the latest purchases, laughing at skeleton wrists and for shilling chinese fake watches for our friends from >>>/g/csg

But to get back to your question:
>Why are you discussing the aesthetics of the watch?
Hmm. I see a theme developing here.
I suppose what you really wanted to ask is:
>Why am I still a virgin?
Because you look like shit. Aesthetics seem to be of no importance for you.

I hope I could help you acquire the knowledge you seek for.

At work I'm surrounded by kids who wear shiny new Rolexes at 22 years old and I regularly meet with millionaires and billionaires who have Patek collections. How many useless parts does a 7s26 actually have? Any idea what would have broke?

I've read a 7s26 rotor is made of two soldered parts, one attached to the ball bearing, and one being the actual "weight", and some people have seen the two split up. Could it be this is the issue and the rest of the rotor is hefty enough to wind it- thus fixing it would be as easy as opening it and removing the loose weight?

Shane is one of the best watchmakers in Southern Ontario, probably one of the best in Canada as a whole.

However, he does not want to be super busy and so does not advertise or deal with possible customers except by phone.

He would probably prefer you not to give out his contact details too much.

Access to him is why I got back into vintage watches.
>>
>>58917946
If i called him and asked him to replace a battery in my fossil would he be upset?
>>
>>58917911

yes

if you want a good bracelet for it you might want to buy the rubber strap version (cheaper) then buy an after market bracelet, the one it comes with sucks
>>
>>58917614

>>
>>58917911
Either save up for a new one or just get a Vostok Amphibia or an Orient Ray for the money. Below $1000 it's pointless to buy used watches, unless they're vintage.
>>
Ok /wt/ I need a quartz and I have been looking at 3 options here. I don't know a lot about watches so I can't tell if the prices here are fair.

This is appealing because it is solar powered. I guess I wouldn't have to change the battery very often then. How relevant is titanium?

http://www.creationwatches.com/products/seiko-titanium-210/seiko-solar-titanium-100m-sne377-sne377p1-sne377p-mens-watch-6370.html

This caught my attention by being both titanium and sapphire which from what I can gather scratches less easily. But I would have to change the batteries more often than solar then? Could I do it myself?

http://www.creationwatches.com/products/seiko-titanium-210/seiko-titanium-sapphire-sgg729-sgg729p1-sgg729p-mens-watch-2603.html

Last is this. The kinetic technology is cool from an interesting point of view but I truly don't know anything about it.

http://www.creationwatches.com/products/seiko-kinetic-68/seiko-kinetic-sapphire-ska741-ska741p1-ska741p-mens-watch-9880.html

Thank you to anyone who helps me out here. If these are all trash just tell me.
>>

Might as well buy a new one.
>>
>>58918156
>How relevant is titanium?
weight. it's quite a bit lighter.

>Could I do it myself?
you'd need something to open the caseback, but yes. and yes you would need to change much less often with solar, if at all.

by the way these three watches have very different sizes, so they will look quite different on the wrist.
37 is small, 40 is normal, 42 is big-ish.

What is the best place to buy an Accutron?
>>
>>58920532
Kind of a hit or miss. I bought this one from long island watch and I've had to exchange it twice.
>Once for a misaligned chronograph second hand,
>Another for losing about 20mins a day when worn but not when resting dial up.

But third time was the charm.

Pros
> +/- 4 seconds a day after half year ownership
> absolute workhorse movement
> satisfying flywheel Chrono action and handwinding
> ~48 hour power reserve
> under 500 in Canada
>really love the exhibition caseback exposing the super decorated ST-19 movement
> chronograph minute hand ticks with each successive 60 seconds

Cons
> shitty Chinese quality control either get a good 1963 or a shit 1963
> super loud ticking (I think this is a pro for me)
> some models have acrylic crystal but mine is sapphire face and caseback crystal
> chronograph only times to 30 mins
> non hacking

Pretty good for the price in my opinion
>>
>>58921546

The finishing is more than what I would expect from a 60€ watch, the case solid stainless steel with a matt finish. I agree that it would look better with a more decorated moon like on the Ball or Christopher Ward moonphase watches, but the wheel it uses is the standard one from a Swiss Ronda 708 movement.
Ruhla is an East German company with an interesting history, I'm pretty sure they assemble the watches in Germany since it's a small production but the case and most other parts must be from China obviously, otherwise it wouldn't be this affordable.
They renamed the company after the German reunification to Gardé Ruhla because of copyright issues (they weren't allowed to use the city's name as their brand name) and since then they've specialised themselves in building radio controlled quartz watch movements to compete against the Asian leading market. This one doesn't use an in-house radiocontrolled movement of course.
I've always been a mechanical watch guy but this watch will definitely cover my need for a moonphase watch.

It's a WA1212 but with the bezel from a WA1213 (I think), it's got a fully lumed dial.
>>
>>58927896
more watches need a lumed dial

Why have digital watches seemingly gone the way of the dodo?
>>

Casio literally sells more of their cheap digitals then every other watchmaker in the world combined.

When the bezel has numbers right side up at the bottom, it's a good sign that it doesn't rotate.

Yes, but they've used the same designs for ever. Go look at older digital watches and you find a bunch of varied watches.

Any automatics around 39-40mm, under $250 which you find nice?

I'm up for any look really.

To be fair, it's nowhere to be found!

>>58928460
It was a bit broad. Something clean, like pic related, but doesn't have to be a Seiko. The Seiko 5's are a tad small at my wrist, at 38mm.
>>
>>58928462
I admit it looks nice but it's still a tasteless Rolex homage.

>>
>>58928992

Nothing, inherently. The overwhelming majority of quartz watches are unbelievably cheaply and thoughtlessly made, but high quality quartz watches don't get shit in here.

Mind you, a lot of watch fags are into mechanical movements and have no interest in quartz watches, but that's not the same thing as hating them.

Only specific parts of the Credor line could even compare to GS. And now the 8 day power reserve Grand Seiko was made in the micro artist studio. Meaning some of Seiko's best efforts makes it into the GS line.
>>

That 9R01 is very nice but for something that basically looks exactly like a lot of other GS models but costs $75k+, even if it's platinum, seems pointless.

The high end Credor models at least have original designs.
>>
>>58929221

Just stating the facts. Seiko is better at literally every single aspect of watch design and manufacture than Orient.

TFW in-between band sizing

While both are part of the Seiko Group, Orient is owned by Seiko Epson whereas Seiko Watch Corporation is owned by Seiko Holdings. The companies are managed completely independently.
>>
>>58929787
If I was looking to spend that much on a watch, I might. It is a little big though. I might need to try it on first.

I'd need a lot of money to be at that point though.

Thoughts on the Rolex Explorer 2 in black? dont like the mercedes hand. I like the metal case. I dont like black, and the white version looks liberacci gay.

I like the tudor black bay with a red bezel. Are proper leather wrist straps comfy? I like the metal bracelet on my cool blue Aquaracer, the leather on my Seiko Sportura broke and i never felt like it was safely on my wrist.

Are you talking the new 216570(?) Explorer ii, or the older 16570? Older ones look better in white, newer ones look better in black.

Id buy an older one, better value, and the hands seem oversized on the new ones, the proportions are wrong imo.

Explorer is more versatile, but the reverso has more snob cred.

What is your lifestyle? Whats already in your collection?

If you already have a good casual watch, i say reverso. But if your looking for a good first mechanical, you have nothing else in your collection, i say explorer. The explorer is tough, and water resistant, and can be worn at almost any occasion. It comes from a great brand, and has a good movement, and most good independents always have parts accounts with Rolex when its time to get it serviced/fixed.

If you already have something like that though, Reverso, all the way.
>>
>>58931440
orient mako usa ii

Side question how decorated are rolex movements?
>>
>>58931384
Theres been 4 different iterations of the explorer ii.

Ref#: 1655, 1970s
Ref#: 16550, 1980s
Ref#: 16570, late 80s to 2010
Ref#: 216570: 2010-present

(Approx)

The 1655 and the the cream 16550 are collectible and way expensive. The 16570 is the sweet spot. As long as the previous owner got it serviced every 5-10 years, it should be fine. Rolex still has parts for them, and theyre usually cheaper than the 16710 gmt, which is the exact same watch, the 16570 explorer ii just doesnt have a rotating bezel.

Id go for something made around 2003, thats when they switched to the SEL bracelet.
>>
>>58931665
Probably not so much. I don't think I've seen a Rolex with an exhibition caseback.
