Thanks for the help =^)
I agree with you on the 7506, they are nice.
this field isnt about opinions. well, some would say it is, but you got the best recommendations by measurements. i wasnt even the people that recommended them but i would say the same thing
Do I have the most pathetic setup on /hpg/?
>DT-880 32ohm (I know...)
>Fiio E07k (I know...)
>TRRS -> RCA connector rigged together with no solder and loose tape
>Free battery bank handed out by Chevy, used for my Fiio E07k which can't hold a charge
>decide to buy bluetooth earbuds since I'm a huge faggot
>hear jaybird bluebuds X are okay
>order second hand since I'm not going to spend $100+ on an experimental meme
>boxing and accessories all standard
>mint on the outside, accessories don't look used either
>pair to phone
>double check order and headphones
>got a near mint pair of new X2's after ordering a used pair of X1's
They're alright by the way, a little too big for IEM's, and the sound is not exactly spectacular, but for the price I think that's okay.
I have it EQ'd
Are you implying my setup isn't one giant mistake?
As far as impractical "portable" setups go, this is my DIY/modded O2 + ODAC powered off a External Battery running 600 Ohm DT880s
Forgot to resize. Here's my anti-trebledynamic EQ tho
>If that's the 80Ohm version, Isn't it too bass heavy?
No, all the different versions have the same amount of bass, the higher ohm ones just have smoother response in the bass region, 32 ohm are all fucked.
>how'd you guess?
im surprised you even need to ask
1.4Q on everything, 1.5Q on the 8k and 0.4Q on the 25Hz.
I made it for minimum listening fatigue, since this it the "comfy" setup i listen to for hours while coding.
Anyone know an in-ear headphone with relatively neutral high frequency response?
Or alternatively one with a known frequency diagram
I need them for some tinnitus treatment so sound quality doesn't matter
I used to play around with portable setups like that also, but nowadays just use the phone and ANC headphones while commuting. Much more convenient, plus the practical increase in sound quality from ANC outweighs better headphones & amps and such in those environments.
paint.net at least uses bicubic (and even fant when applicable now adays) if youre on windows.

Short review of Monoprice's 6ft premium 3.5mm designed for mobile extension cable.
Equipment used: DT770 250ohm, Corda Headfive amp
-cable is flexible and as thick as you would want outside of a permanent installation
-nicely chromed, gold plated connectors provide a secure fit at both ends
-slight veil is introduced due to the extra distance the signal is required to travel, but you have to listen for it
-the crystal clear mids of the DT770 were unaffected while the highs were a touch more sibalent than expected
-lows were rounded at the extremes, but this tended to result in a more natural sound that was less fatiguing
I will have to finish the full 100 hour burn in time, but this cable lived up to my every expectation. If you're pressed for distance and have to sacrifice sound quality by adding extra cabling, you won't be disappointed.
I typed the other post previously and didn't want to edit my original thoughts, but most of the sound issues I had were mitigated by using temporary cable risers. Wood is not the ideal, but these will suffice until their carbon replacements arrive.
lol fuck that is so kawaii. good work anon.
posting with real version.
Guess then the clunkiness isn't really a limiting factor. As long as you can deal with the aestethics of the cord mess.
The QC20 and 25 didn't seem to have any of those for me. QC20's non-replaceable cord broke in less than a year though.
They're overrated and they don't measure too well. It's the hype train.
I can think of Etymotic HF5 for highs that are a bit shy or LG QuadBeat 3 for neutral highs.
What is a good way too tell people that beats are shit.
So I'm in on of my classes and this group of chads next to me are looking at the wireless gold one and I decided to tell them about their real quality. They where like saying that I was wrong and somewhere during me replying back I sort of locked up and stopped talking.
So what would you say to them so they would know that beats are not that great of cans?
well first you find out which pair of beats they are. then you look up measurements for them, and show them to them. when they dont know what theyre looking at, tell them this is why they think the beats are good. then you will get called a nerd, because they will be mad
The Solo2 are apparently okay from Beats, though probably not much else.
Otherwise, they're chads, why would you even care if they like bad headphones or try to convince them? It's a futile effort that just makes you look autistic.
Day 2 update on my comfy M50x project:
still comfy, was editing for like six hours today and I have no headaches.
you said im supposed to reconsider being alive. if that doesnt mean that you have judged me as not being alive, or in other words being dead, then i have misunderstood and you need to explain in a different way
Anybody else out there use tube amps for their headphones?
I can't go back to anything else anymore
why do you presume im an exception to this same natural feeling you have? and no, you answered why youre -still- alive. the reason you live in the first place, is other humans. you should probably take a philo class or 2 mate
Well I'm assuming your life must be bad, you're in love with an underage cartoon woman.
When you reach this level you're better off being dead than suffering any longer I believe.
Eventually the pain of living overcomes the fear of death.
Is that who I think it is?
What is that?
Seriously, I don't care. I only care about price/performance and the point of diminishing returns.
X99-Deluxe (112 SNR, Realtek ALC1150); I don't mind getting a headphone amp or something if it's worth the investment
>Preferred type of headphone
>Open or closed
Should be high. I'm sensitive to discomfort and want to wear them many hours at a time
>Preferred tonal balance
It should be suitable for voice chatting
Been using the Logitech G35 for the past 7 years. I also have an pair of AKG 619s. I prefer the sound of the latter a lot over the G35.
Hey everyone, first time on /g/. Looking for help finding good headphones.
>Budget - $100 - $400
>Source - Phone/Laptop
>Preferred type of headphone - over ear
>Open or closed - I'm not sure which one.
I play the saxophone and sometimes practice along with music. Maybe having open ears would help a lot?
>Comfort level - don't care all that much, I imagine most headphones aren't uncomfortable
>Preferred tonal balance - clear, probably clean bass that doesn't cover up anything else.
>Preferred music - lots of jazz, R&B, hip hop and rock. Lots of acoustic sounds Not nearly as much electronic.
>Past headphones - Sennheiser HD 280 pro 64 Ω
I love these headphones, but the left/right balance has become pretty fucked up recently and they are falling apart slightly. Maybe I should just go for the next step up from these? I loved the clarity of the 280s.
thanks. apparently im supposed to kill myself because shes underage or some shit, lmao
Fun that you mention them, they're the ones I got my GF.
It's been a while since I've tried them, but iirc they were quite uncomfortable, pressing on the sides of my head way too much. I don't think I can wear them.
I'm not sure if I want open. The benefit of open ear is that it gives a possibly more realistic sounding experience than simply having music pumped into your head like closed backs do?
How bad are open ears in public places, like, say an airplane?
everyone can be called pathetic for one thing or the next. whats the point in even starting? because of this, i will just troll back
sorry senpai. i agree with you, and i know being off topic is a no no. i just dont see the point in standing still though
When talking about in-ear I mean something like pic related (not sure if "in-ear" is the right name)
Those round things you can often pull black foam over
On-ear would be way too large
I already have "real" headphones but I need something I can wear below them that isn't stationary
>admitting youre sad and then go around bringing the people you care about down for the same reason that other people tell you that youre pathetic in the first place
this is not a healthy mentality. you should be ignoring the first people completely, rather than going along with what theyre saying and then coming at us with it as well. youre the same thing as they are, yet you despise them. how do you not figure out how silly you are? not smart enough?
the thing is you already get high end audio quality with like 350-400$ headphones. if you want to get the same kind of quality from regular speakers you would need to pay 2-3x as much.
How much could there possibly be to say about headphones? This general is cancer
>"these ones sound good"
>"what do you recommend for ___ price range?"
This general can be a sticky
>I make the tones above 10khz a bit louder
Be very careful with trusting measurements above 10kHz.
It would fill many books and libraries from the physics/math/engineering involved, as well as neuroscience research and subjective examinations.
Such is the nature of acoustics.
sound, especially in headphones for something that has to be right up to your ear, are far more complicated than you think. this thread is not for the discussion of whether or not they sound good, but these advanced topics instead. not that it actually gets discussed very often.
still, i could say the same about the whole board. hell, all of 4chan. no one really -needs- to be here. once you understand this (and subsequently attain an age higher than 13) youll be at more peace in life
Velour pads were a nice touch.
SRH1840 earpads - $15 from Amazon
i just wanted to hear your opinion on if you lost any at all, really, since thats what they say.
and, im not sure if that thing is compensating or not, but you could be getting distortion if youre not subtracting from the entire spectrum adequately. maybe look into a better eq like apo equalizer
the 250ohm version might not get loud enough on all content as some say it needs an amp. but i dont know if getting the 32ohm version is really worth it. so that amp youre talking about is probably around the corner. id say get an objective 2 or magni 2.
> tfw you don't need to EQ your headphones because they already sound excellent to you
No need to patronize other people, hearing is purely subjective after all. If you can't stand a clear a detailed sound, I hope that your path to reach the hi-fi Eldorado will be pleasant.
>K702 isn't detailed or clear
I stick to objective numbers instead of placebo and "perceived fidelity".
EQ is nothing but sliding some bars and biting your tongue till you go "yep that sounds about right!".
People need to stop confusing fidelity with subjectivity. If you like to fuck with EQ shit then have fun. It’s anything but correct “fidelity”.
>implying price has anything to do with the quality of the v6
yeah and this 895 horsepower engine is shit. check out this 900 horsepower engine right over here. who would ever consider the 895 one?
Lacks in nigger bass. Must be terrible.
I know how EQ works champ. Unless you have some perfect dummy model of your head to do tests all it is is sliding bars hoping for that "just right sound". There is zero objectivity.
>le back to reddit ebin i told him BTFO xDDD
What do you guys think about the new Hyperx Cloud series coming out? Any hope for it?
weaboos you say...
HD558. Completely annihilates the K702 for fidelity.
If you're anti Sennheiser for some reason, at least get the DT880.
AKG K702 is the worst of the big three and Harman the company that owns AKGs uses Sennheisers to train listeners because AKGs fall short.
Lmao you plebs aren't even using using a convolver.
770s still holding up well. They're like slippers for my ears.
Plug in the HD598 directly into the E10K and listen.
It's a bad load to use with the receiver. K702 has a flatter impedance from 20Hz-20kHz so it doesn't sound as bad as the HD598 when used with the receiver.
From an objective perspective, the HD598 is the better measuring headphone.
so youd say hd558 > dt880 > k702?
can i ask you to continue this to include other popular headphones tossed around here, like hd600, 400i, x2, and anything else you feel inclined to add?
Time to join the AKG shill hour
Remember to pick up the best open headphones for under 200
>posting my shitty setup again will show them
>i know what im talking about because i paid for these
>4 shitty headphones
>not one good pair with lifetime warranty
Bot K702 and V6 are great headphones in their price range, then I see no reason why you should call the Sony better than the AKG, besides obvious shitposting. As a plus, K702 is open, which means that it has a more spacious and more natural sound.
well you using that % just made me interested in another question. you said the dt880 = 400i right underneath the 558. if the 558 is 95% of the hd600, what % of the hd600 is the dt880 and 400i then?
>recommends an old mans headphone
Foam removal mod doesn't do much.
It's hard to say, if you look at the HD600 and HD558 they have a similar diffuse field sound characteristic, but not so much for the DT880 and HE400i. If you want more treble than and less mids than what the HD600/HD558 offers DT880 is the choice. If you want more sub-bass and more bass impact at the expense of mids then HE400i.
Koss Pro4AAAs any good? Stumbled across them for $40 on Amazon.
>Just compare the measurements
>Both have very different frequency response
They're different (not very different) but I meant that it's the same in equalizing regarding difficulty.
>has he ever been asked why he doesnt do that?
It doesn't matter if you aren't retarded. The difference is a bump in the midrange, and that's about it.
Debatable since they're many measurements of both.
I'd say the real difference between both is that the HD558 has more gain in the lower midrange and is not as DF as the HD600 around 3kHz.
Is there some software that can bypass this absolutely shit equaliser that comes with my audio manager? I need a proper equaliser for accurate adjustments, ideally not a plugin limited to one piece of software.
Well... my MDR-V6 of three years gave out today (or at least the right driver did) and I'm looking to purchase something around ~$150 USD. What would you all recommend I look to? Should I get another pair of V6s? Give the 7506s a shot?
>I have a meme50x.
>What eq settings do i need to use to fix this shit?
What's your problem? EQ is a targeted solution.
>Where do I get the graphs?
Innerfidelity, headroom, Goldenears (Korean and English sites) and others
>How do I do system wide eq on my pc and my phone ?
Equalizer APO on the desktop.
If phone is Android, Viper 4 Android. The sound suite affects stuff system wide. It has a simple graphic EQ, no parametric AFAIK. However, you can duplicate the parametric EQ using the V4A convolver.
If iOS, I don't know, but there are many players with a parametric EQ included.
Anything you don't like about v6?
Get another pair. Also don't fall for the akg shills, they fucken suck, not worth the $300, more plastic then the mdrv6. If you like the sonys brightness, stay with them. You can possibly fix them, they have screws for a reason.
Well the last pair of headphones you all recommended me broke 3 months later so here I am again.
I'd like to spend less than $50, I'm in the USA, I want completely over the ear(I have big ears) and I want it to be closed. I will use them for long periods of time every day,I don't know too much about sound but I do enjoy a lot of bass and I'd like a good sound stage.
Current headphones that just broke are Superlux HD-681s, ones before that were some $20 seinhesser headphones.
I adore my V6 cans. I looked into the 7506s and you're right, it looks like they are just wired differently. The drivers are the exact same product.
I don't mind the brightness, I feel I've gotten used to it over the years, although at times they can be a little fatiguing. I've opened up the drivers and found no wires out of place, which leads me to believe the right driver is fucked completely, or the wire running through the headband is causing problems. I've repaired headphones in the past, but I'm not in the mood to break open the pleather headband to expose the entire wire.
Thanks, I'll most likely buy another pair!
Adding to this in case anyone want to buy akg 7xx.
>comfortable as fuck
>bad performance/price ratio
Also burn in my ass, need an amp my ass. Figured out that akg users listen to music so loud that it has ruined their hearing and need amps to compensate.
Are etymotic mk5's comfortable? I've yet to find IEMs I like, though haven't tried a lot.
Currently have a pair of MEElectronics M6 that I use on occasion, but they're not very comfy for me.
Because wood is an organic material it doesn't have perfect symmetry at the molecular level. This causes unwanted resonance along the cable path leading to minute distortions in the transmitted audio. Trained ears are easily able to pick up on this subtle difference. Lab grown carbon avoids this nasty issue.
Which would be my best audio solution for PS4 online play?
I know I can buy pic related to use real headphones and a decent mic through the controller, but what about 5.1/7.1 surround? can I use a DAC or amp?
Please help me /hpg/!
I don't want to buy crappy 733T H4X0RZ G4M1N headsets
Looking for a pair of closed and fairly portable cans to complement my HD600. Must be able to be driven by a smartphone. Budget is $400.
Was looking at the PM3 but I don't think the sound signature is right for me. I am also unsure of their capability straight out of my Galaxy S6. I listen mostly to punk and rock with female vocals as well as singer-songwriter stuff.
Mother wants to tap into my headphone money to take her out for a night on the town, under the promise of buying me a pair for my birthday. Downgrading from Etys, how are the Piston 3? Is there something at that price but jazzier?
shallow, it would be fine if this little bump wasnt sticking out

been looking at the hd-650 for 315 euro
and the hd-600 for 285 in a national music supplies website so free/close to free shipping.
Mainly looking for advice on if upgrading would bring that much of a diference and if the 650's are worth the extra 30 yuros.
I can't decide taste or preference for you. You keep saying this thing that sounds like Ety sound signature though.
The poor man's Etymotic (more poor than MK5) is to find one of those Sony XBA-1/10/100/C10 on the cheap and 4S adapter/UE impedance plug.
An an example of the plug you would want.
also i'm not super dead set on sennheiser they just seem to have better distribution in my country, also the quality/price relation seems better for them, other brands avaliable are akg and beyerdynamic, so i'm open to other suggestions
I know some of you may view this as heresy, but what are the best bluetooth earbuds you can get for cheap? Family member wants some for the gym.
how does this not sound like a shill? sennheiser products are all just the best no matter what? i mean, id take the 400i over the 650 just for the decreased distortion and better subbass which orthos can do better, especially with an eq. any neutrality im missing in the treble can also be eqd in on the 400i.
