Anyone know an in-ear headphone with relatively neutral high frequency response?
Or alternatively one with a known frequency diagram

I need them for some tinnitus treatment so sound quality doesn't matter
>>
>>52421142
Well it doesnt need to, as the whole 220-1200 Range is dragged down -3dB, you can get away with pushing 1800-3500 as a whole to -4dB, perhaps 77-156 to -1dB.

Short review of Monoprice's 6ft premium 3.5mm designed for mobile extension cable.

Equipment used: DT770 250ohm, Corda Headfive amp

Construction:

-cable is flexible and as thick as you would want outside of a permanent installation
-nicely chromed, gold plated connectors provide a secure fit at both ends

Sound quality:

-slight veil is introduced due to the extra distance the signal is required to travel, but you have to listen for it
-the crystal clear mids of the DT770 were unaffected while the highs were a touch more sibalent than expected
-lows were rounded at the extremes, but this tended to result in a more natural sound that was less fatiguing

Overall:

I will have to finish the full 100 hour burn in time, but this cable lived up to my every expectation. If you're pressed for distance and have to sacrifice sound quality by adding extra cabling, you won't be disappointed.

Follow up:
I typed the other post previously and didn't want to edit my original thoughts, but most of the sound issues I had were mitigated by using temporary cable risers. Wood is not the ideal, but these will suffice until their carbon replacements arrive.

What is a good way too tell people that beats are shit.

So I'm in on of my classes and this group of chads next to me are looking at the wireless gold one and I decided to tell them about their real quality. They where like saying that I was wrong and somewhere during me replying back I sort of locked up and stopped talking.

So what would you say to them so they would know that beats are not that great of cans?
>>
>>52421859
well first you find out which pair of beats they are. then you look up measurements for them, and show them to them. when they dont know what theyre looking at, tell them this is why they think the beats are good. then you will get called a nerd, because they will be mad

Hey everyone, first time on /g/. Looking for help finding good headphones.

>Budget - $100 - $400

>Source - Phone/Laptop

>Preferred type of headphone - over ear

>Open or closed - I'm not sure which one.
I play the saxophone and sometimes practice along with music. Maybe having open ears would help a lot?

>Comfort level - don't care all that much, I imagine most headphones aren't uncomfortable

>Preferred tonal balance - clear, probably clean bass that doesn't cover up anything else.

>Preferred music - lots of jazz, R&B, hip hop and rock. Lots of acoustic sounds Not nearly as much electronic.

>Past headphones - Sennheiser HD 280 pro 64 Ω
I love these headphones, but the left/right balance has become pretty fucked up recently and they are falling apart slightly. Maybe I should just go for the next step up from these? I loved the clarity of the 280s.

Plug in the HD598 directly into the E10K and listen.

It's a bad load to use with the receiver. K702 has a flatter impedance from 20Hz-20kHz so it doesn't sound as bad as the HD598 when used with the receiver.

From an objective perspective, the HD598 is the better measuring headphone.

It's hard to say, if you look at the HD600 and HD558 they have a similar diffuse field sound characteristic, but not so much for the DT880 and HE400i. If you want more treble than and less mids than what the HD600/HD558 offers DT880 is the choice. If you want more sub-bass and more bass impact at the expense of mids then HE400i.

Why?

Just compare the measurements
Both have very different frequency response

They're different (not very different) but I meant that it's the same in equalizing regarding difficulty.

okay, let me read it and ill get back to you

https://youtu.be/7cwTDSs6MI4?t=58m25s

It doesn't matter if you aren't retarded. The difference is a bump in the midrange, and that's about it.
>>
>>52424965
The HD558 has relatively problematic higher frequencies while the HD600 has a relatively smooth and even curve in the same area
>>
>>52425041
Debatable since they're many measurements of both.

I'd say the real difference between both is that the HD558 has more gain in the lower midrange and is not as DF as the HD600 around 3kHz.

Halp pls,
Is there some software that can bypass this absolutely shit equaliser that comes with my audio manager? I need a proper equaliser for accurate adjustments, ideally not a plugin limited to one piece of software.
>>
>>52425156
Reset, delete, install Equalizer APO.
Or, install a parametric EQ plugin into your media player of choice and run it in WASAPI exclusive mode (aka audiophilia nervosa mode).

Reset. Use APO

HD 558/598/650 all have a very steep and uneven fall-off starting at around 9 khz

Well... my MDR-V6 of three years gave out today (or at least the right driver did) and I'm looking to purchase something around ~$150 USD. What would you all recommend I look to? Should I get another pair of V6s? Give the 7506s a shot?

What's your problem? EQ is a targeted solution.
>Where do I get the graphs?
Innerfidelity, headroom, Goldenears (Korean and English sites) and others
>How do I do system wide eq on my pc and my phone ?
Equalizer APO on the desktop.
If phone is Android, Viper 4 Android. The sound suite affects stuff system wide. It has a simple graphic EQ, no parametric AFAIK. However, you can duplicate the parametric EQ using the V4A convolver.
If iOS, I don't know, but there are many players with a parametric EQ included.

Get another pair. Also don't fall for the akg shills, they fucken suck, not worth the $300, more plastic then the mdrv6. If you like the sonys brightness, stay with them. You can possibly fix them, they have screws for a reason.
>>

Why do akg's have such a low resale value? The Q and K702 sell for around $220 on Amazon, and cost $120 used?

Well the last pair of headphones you all recommended me broke 3 months later so here I am again.

I'd like to spend less than $50, I'm in the USA, I want completely over the ear(I have big ears) and I want it to be closed. I will use them for long periods of time every day,I don't know too much about sound but I do enjoy a lot of bass and I'd like a good sound stage.

Current headphones that just broke are Superlux HD-681s, ones before that were some $20 seinhesser headphones.
>>

spend 80 and buy a MDR-7506
>>
>>52426126

It's winter and I don't get much work right now so I'm definitely not spending $80
>>
>>52425706
I adore my V6 cans. I looked into the 7506s and you're right, it looks like they are just wired differently. The drivers are the exact same product.

>>52425845
I don't mind the brightness, I feel I've gotten used to it over the years, although at times they can be a little fatiguing. I've opened up the drivers and found no wires out of place, which leads me to believe the right driver is fucked completely, or the wire running through the headband is causing problems. I've repaired headphones in the past, but I'm not in the mood to break open the pleather headband to expose the entire wire.

Thanks, I'll most likely buy another pair!

anyone wanna recommend two portable dac/amp? one around $100 and another one around $500?
>>
>>52426222

The plastic band at the top broke at its weakest point by the screws when I put them on.

>>52425845
Adding to this in case anyone want to buy akg 7xx.
pros
>comfortable as fuck
>removable cable
cons
>plastic
>recessed mids
>bad performance/price ratio

Also burn in my ass, need an amp my ass. Figured out that akg users listen to music so loud that it has ruined their hearing and need amps to compensate.

Because wood is an organic material it doesn't have perfect symmetry at the molecular level. This causes unwanted resonance along the cable path leading to minute distortions in the transmitted audio. Trained ears are easily able to pick up on this subtle difference. Lab grown carbon avoids this nasty issue.

Looking for a pair of closed and fairly portable cans to complement my HD600. Must be able to be driven by a smartphone. Budget is $400.

Was looking at the PM3 but I don't think the sound signature is right for me. I am also unsure of their capability straight out of my Galaxy S6. I listen mostly to punk and rock with female vocals as well as singer-songwriter stuff.

Actually you mean pistons v2, pistons v3 are not bassy at all.
>>
>>52428820
Still more than Ety bass.

Well, surround would be downmixed into 2 channel binaural.
But really, a straight up headphone setting is better than a surround.

For ~$30 I don't have much choice, would I?

>Budget - 200-300 yurus

>Location - Portugal

>Source - PC through a shit stack modi+magni

>Preferred type of headphone - over ear

>Open or closed - Open

>Comfort level - at least as confortable as the hd-518s

>Preferred tonal balance - mostly neutral maybe on the bassier side

>Preferred music - listen to most genres, hip hop, techno, classical, folk, whatever im feeling thus the neutral preference

>Past headphones - sennheiser hd-518s

been looking at the hd-650 for 315 euro
and the hd-600 for 285 in a national music supplies website so free/close to free shipping.
Mainly looking for advice on if upgrading would bring that much of a diference and if the 650's are worth the extra 30 yuros.
Thank you

If you want the bassy side of neutral then HD650 is what you want.
>>
>>52424515

>>
>>52429077
I can't decide taste or preference for you. You keep saying this thing that sounds like Ety sound signature though.

The poor man's Etymotic (more poor than MK5) is to find one of those Sony XBA-1/10/100/C10 on the cheap and 4S adapter/UE impedance plug.

An an example of the plug you would want.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/GENUINE-Ultimate-Ears-Airline-Sound-level-Attenuator-Adapter-for-UE-Earphones-/360429749196?hash=item53eb4983cc:g:23QAAOxy66pRwJID
>>
>>52429231
Not him, but the HD650 would go in 2nd place and tie with the HD558 for overall accuracy.

It's intentionally a HD600 with more bass in simple terms.
>>
>>52429176
but is the diference from the 518's great enough for me to drop 315 euro on it or should I save and buy something higher end for like 500?

>>
>>52429360
HD650 is certainly an improvement, but you can make the HD518 into anything with EQ.
>>
>>52429279
how does this not sound like a shill? sennheiser products are all just the best no matter what? i mean, id take the 400i over the 650 just for the decreased distortion and better subbass which orthos can do better, especially with an eq. any neutrality im missing in the treble can also be eqd in on the 400i.
>>
>>52430082
It's not an opinion, it's a fact.

HD650 is more neutral than the 400i and the sub-bass extends pretty flat on the HD650.
