I read an article that said because of the lack of impact the elliptical feels like you're doing less work than you actually are. It's slightly less effective than the treadmill in terms of calories per hour (this might change depending on resistance you set) but overall, yeah. 300 calories is a reasonable target.

i do 30 minutes at some resistance setting and burn about 420 calories. covered in sweat by the end but still feels better than running

If you're sure about your calorie counting, it's probably just carb or sodium bloat messing with the scale (after a week away from home eating mostly fast food within my macros, I "gained" 6lbs, for example). Try to replace the less than good stuff with protein bars or veggies.

I've had time to think about the advice I got last night. (people said I was too skinny)

I've deduced that my options are;
A. Eat maintenance calories (1800) for as long as it takes me to relapse and get fat again
or
B. Use this as an opportunity to develop muh body for strength and whatnot

I never planned on lifting any weights, ever. But from reading about men recovering from eating disorders, both kinds, it seems to be the one thing that helps them break the cycle of gaining and losing.

I guess my fate is set.
I suppose I don't have to enjoy it, I just need to crack on with it.

The more I think about it, the more I think my problem was with food, not with my weight.
CICO and all that is just pissing in the wind if you can't address WHY you over/underate.

Lift, it won't make you "overly muscular" even if you are a woman. Peoples' first mistake is assuming GETTING HUGE is just something that can accidentally happen to them. Lifting will help you look lean (like your animes) instead of a skinnyfat blob.

Keto would be good. With thinning hair, shampoo less and pick one of those Lush shampoo bars that tickle your fancy, they did wonders for my hair. They're like $10 and last forever. If it's straight up balding, seek advice from a professional.

Read the sticky thoroughly. Go through literally every word.

Certain foods aren't inherently bad for you (they'd be poison otherwise). Unnecessary overconsumption is what gets you. Consumption of carbs aren't inherently bad, consumption of fat isn't inherently bad, consumption of red meat isn't inherently bad (unless you have some health condition, but then again that isn't really the fault of the food). Having too much of the problem.

My advice is stick to the proven basics. Good portion of protein (chicken, fish), lots of veggies, eat complex carbs (oats, whole wheat, bran), get good fiber, and eat fruit if you're getting a sweet tooth. A small indulgence isn't going to hurt, and can be worth it for the mental gains.

Just take a deep breath, stay conscious of yourself and your diet, and always try to improve yourself, even in the face of unfathonable terror and pain. You stupid bitch.

dont jog at heavy weight you will kill your knees. thats what eliptical is for, reduces impact on knees and its good. If you do it when heavy too at high slope and high resistance your calves will be even larger than just already big fat guy calves.

I just realized that I've been unconciously sucking in my gut for pretty much my entire life. I don't know how that's possible, but when I actually thought about sucking in my stomach, I noticed was already doing it and could relax it to a more natural feeling position.

the advice from these guys can easily be misunderstood by newbies. carbs aren't the reason you lose weight. eat as much carbs as you want, be under your tdee, and lose weight.

only problem is apparently simple carbs like sugar entire the bloodstream en mass and spike ur bloodsugar, your bod reacts by releasing lots of insulin to soak up the sugar which causes a big energy spike then a crash for you. Some people say this makes it harder to control hunger and it's better to eat less carbs and more complex carbs that digest slower and provide steady energy

2 part question:
What's a good amount of weight to lift at the gym when doing squats/deadlifts/etc when trying to lose weight?
I'm up to 1pl8 for bench presses, but I've also read it's very difficult to gain any muscle while cutting. It is pointless to try and keep going up in weight then?

Yeah. eventually i got to the point where the effort to get smaller became more than my internal motivation cared to try for. like, i would think in my head "oh im way thinner now, i can chill out and eat mcdonalds with my friends" but it was never just with friends. I'd lose motivation and get lazy and literally just stop trying and go right back to my old eating habits.

both times i feel back into old habits correlate with life events though. when i gained back 50 i stopped trying after i got a gf and lost virginity.

started losing that 30 after we broke up but then my mom died and i gained 20 and here we are. but im doing better now. im only a week in but I've gotta say it's been the fastest week of being on track I think I've ever had and i've been a lot less stressed with weighing every day or looking forward to weighing at the end of the week or counting my streak of days ive stuck to it.

I'm doing a PPL cutting and I'm pretty much stalled out in all my weights. I'm a noob and went straight into a cut/PPL instead of SS since I knew I wouldnt be eating enough to make gains. I esentially just do PPL to tone/maintain what I already have and worry about growing muscle when I'm done cutting.

It's very, very typical to not make gains while on a cut. The first advice anyone makes when someone is stalling is to eat more.

I'm airforce. And it's not like we eat out of little ration packs when not in the field. We have a cafeteria that offers 3 different main dishes and there a salad/sandwich/desert bar for other stuff. You can even go for seconds ans get soda from the fountain, so it's easy to get fat if you eat too much. I'm a leaf, maybe it's different in the US.
