I don't know I just can't help myself. I assume some of it has to do with lack of sleep. I only sleep like 3-4 hours on my work days and then 8-10 on my days off. Usually don't see progress unless I get those 8-10 hours.

Does it look like the skin on my abdomen is getting any tighter? I lost 90 pounds in 5 months (between January 3rd 2017 and May 24th 2017) and I was left with a bit of loose skin. I've been maintaining since the end of May while doing crunches and situps and as of two days ago I just began a slow, clean bulk.

if you are weighing yourself everyday you're misleading yourself one way or another. Casually weighing yourself at home isn't an accurate measurement and I only use it as a way to gauge generally how progress is going.

Sometimes the scales say I've lost 5 pounds in a week and sometimes they say I've lost like 0.5 despite eating within the calorie limits. I know that as long as I'm sticking to the diet that I will get the results I want.

Last weekend I had a ton of beer and ribs and nasty shit like that. Wendy's fries and a coke even. Monday I weighed 315.2 ate on my usual cut and weighed myself yesterday morning at 309. It was nice to see I didn't fuck up so bad.

As a side note, is it possible to consume, but shit out calories before your body uses them? I don't know how else to explain my weight dropping like that.

Idk dudes when I was 275-200 I would see a change downward or a plateau of the day before everytime I stepped on the scale in the morning. It was always a nice motivation for me and I liked putting in the new numbers into mfp.
I didn't get too hung up or obsessed. Just before I popped in the shower after i used the toilet I would step on and take a peak and just about every time it was good news. You're right in saying sticking to the diet will get you the results you like but I mean stepping on the scale everyday isn't going to kill you and it always brought me some comfort.

My gut has a similar...morphology...but doesn't get loose skin and yours looks like it's maybe ~20% from loose skin, but mostly that you haven't lost enough weight yet.

Your tdee is probably pretty damn high so you could eat a fair amount of calories and still lose weight.

Sometimes weight does some weird things when you first start working out. It has to adjust to it. If after the next week you haven't lost anything then you should be concerned. Just make sure you're actually eating the calories you think you are, and not accidentally getting some anywhere

Hey guys, I'm the original bulk spreadsheet requester from last night's thread.
I'd like to thank the anon who warned me about the fact that it takes less calories to gain a pound of muscle than a pound of fat. I didn't know that and would probably have fucked up
at the start of my bulk right away by eating too much (what sailrabbit would suggest for my ideal gain/week).

So regarding that, I'm going to explain to you guys how I calculated it, but you have to bear with me I am not a hard scientist and I am a girl, so of course my formulations are not correct (albeit I think the formulas are). Please see pic related. If you see any discrepancies in the math or physics of it, please let me know it'll cost me time to figure it out by myself when I am there.

Anyway, my question is this : given the recent knowledge that anon has bestowed upon me, does this formulation sound correct to calculate exactly how much I would need for caloric intake:

in my controlled clean bulk you can see I want a 0.48kg of total mass gain per month (it's as I said a clean bulk and I want to take it slow and monitor progress closely) of which as I said in my predictions, I want a margin of >80% to be muscle and <20% of fat.
So my idea is, based on anon's knowledge that I should eat over my TDEE :
80% of 0.48kg gain monthly as if I would need 1600cal for them.
20% of 0.48kg gain monthly as if I would need 3500cal for them.
Does that make sense? I think that'd be the safe way to get an accurate to redefine caloric intake based on that knowledge.

Hey replying because I've been there. Youre using food as an emotional crutch and you need to sort out your relationship with it. It is fuel, thats all it is. So get high quality, healthy fuel and get it in your mouth until you're not hungry. Also, a big problem may be a lack of variety if you're not used to eating healthy. Try different things and look up different healthy recipes. Tuna patties are a personal favorite of mine. Pretty much straight protein, put some hot sauce on them and eat them in raw spinach/salad. No anon, a clean controlled bulk with set monthly weight gain rates and recalibrations and adjustments done ever so often - on a monthly basis would be optimal - will allow you to catch any slip up in high body fat intake.
I need to edit this infographic as it's been reported that the weight gain caloric intake calculator might be inexact for not taking into account the difference of calories needed to put on mass of muscle and mass of fat, but the whole tracking process I mention with taking measurements and weight, as well as estimating your monthly lean gain+total gain is still correct and needs to be done if you want to make a good bulk.
Essentially when excel anon comes back with the data on how to calculate caloric intake for a bulk with those new formulas, I'll make a new infographic with the updated info.
However the lowest you can cut to start your bulk the better, given you will maintain at most 20% body fat gain during the process of the bulk. If you go low enough, you won't have to cut after the bulk in some cases. Yes start lifting now, just to get form and strenght conditioning in, also read up on mobility and that should set you up for massive gains when you do start bulking.

I started at 500 deficit, then gradually moved up to 700, which is what I do now (on average 800 calories).
More than manageable at my current stats, to maintain the body I have.
I don't know if it's healthy at your current weight to do 400-800 intake, I would suggest to do it like me, you'll get the same (and better results at first since you're starting up higher) results as me, and be over the 50pounds lost range in short of five months for sure.

Of course there are some environmental factors that have an effect on your health.
Just to give you an idea, I'm a poor grad school fag who recently graduated and have not yet started working, can't afford the gym for another couple months or so, and just cutting for now (I had virtually little to cut, and I'm a woman).
I think there are many free weight exercises you can do to maintain and gain muscle mass, within the limitations of certain muscles.
I don't have time right now to make a list, but I have tried quite a few at home before. I'll try and make another infographic on free weights exercises, when I get the time, but if you need the info right now, in short, you can basically do anything and variations of it of what you do originally with a barbell targeting chest, arms including tris, back, quads, glutes...

Oh I probably should have mentioned that I did IF 18-6 for a couple weeks, then upped it to 23:1 OMAD and still going strong.
I think being in a fasted state virtually 23:45 of the day (I eat in less than 15 min) also really helps trigger body fat consumption.

I also do some HIIT at home (25 mins 3 times a week) and did free weights lifting when I had access to some for about three weeks (I did 45 mins of 8x3x10 with AxBxC rotations on lower body/upper body/lower body (C being for isolation of glutes in particular). I also do 20 mins of core work a day.
I would have started lifting heavy at the gym (doing SS or another linear progression program) if it weren't for the fact I'm a poorfag and have to wait a couple months to settle in a new place to enrol at the gym.
Which coincidentally is when I'll reach end goal weight for this cut (104lbs). So I do with what I have for now.

Focus on perfecting form, check out the books in the fitness section of pic related, it's my ebook collection. You'll have everything you need to learn from anatomically descriptive books how to (sorry for using this meme) ""activate"" your muscles, in other words develop the full range of motion needed to trigger muscle tear, and thus muscle hypertrophy...think of it like tearing a piece of cloth, without the mobility, flexibility and strenght to tear it, you wouldn't be able to do a good job.

I couldn't tell you if it helps on a physical level as I have no way of remaking this experiment with the same factors, IF excluded. I can tell you it helped psychologically because it curbed my desire to eat, cravings and hunger after a while by suppressing my appetite. It also is a discipline booster. Have become way more productive now that I don't allocate so much time in the day thinking or preparing food.

Do I think it has helped? Yes, there is some scientific authorities more or less reputable, more or less mainstream and rooted in the weight loss industry, that suggest fasting can increase the body fat consumption (for longer periods of time than a standard diet).
Is it all legit, the studies, the word of mouth of these people? I don't know. I just like to experiment by nature, and find out myself.
Ideally if I could recreate any protocols in endless variations it'd be great to figure out what works for me.

Personally, I'm going for the low bf% then long clean bulk. I think you should be lifting either way.
Can you handle repetitive cycles of cuts and bulks (mostly the cuts, I guess?) or would you get on with it and just cut now while you're at it till you can safely bulk for 20-30 pounds without having to cut.
