I know I can cut calories by restricting the food I have at home - I've done it before. So far I'm thinking of keeping mainly tilapia and kale/spinach at home. Can I live off only that or do I need another food (what food) to avoid malnutrition?

I found an alternative for halo top in Canada, it's called cool whey. Halo top isn't in Canada since it doesn't meet the dairy requirements Canada has, and this is the closest stuff I can find. I tried the salted caramel and chocolate chip and they're both amazing. Not as calorie light as halo top, but it can still curb a craving without busting the calorie bank.

I've lost almost 70lbs (started at 350, down to 283) in the last couple months, still have about 100 left to lose. The cut's going well, slow and consistent. People are starting to notice. My big concern is, I feel like I'm fatter than ever. Every time I look in the mirror I get more disgusted with myself. I grab my rolls and I swear they're getting bigger. Why is this /fat/? It's motivating in a sense because it makes me more determined to go all the way, but it also kills my motivation because I feel like I'm looking worse and worse, and even though the scale says I'm losing weight and my clothes are getting bigger on me, I feel like I'm getting fatter.

Even if you're at a 20% bf (and I think you'd be closer to 25+) you're still at the obese stage with a BMI of 31. Don't think about end goals just yet because chances are you'll adjust them along the way. If you absolutely need a number, 185 nets you around 20 BMi, which is about middle of normal. >>
>>41925962
You're better off eating 1200 a day long term consistently. You currently risk binging/overeating which you're already doing (technically you're not eating too many calories but the mindset is there. It's a slippery slope into binging on 2000+ calories). I wasn't losing weight any faster with your method because binging is inevitable. You'll be surprised how much comes off when you're consistent, even if you're eating over 1000 a day.
>>
>>41925808
I've been walking, swimming, and body weight exercises for exercise. I plan to start going to the gym at some point, but I have a lot of anxiety in regards to exercising in public. And the closest gym is 20 miles away. I have an antique stationary bike, but I'm too fat to fit on it comfortably. I'm trying to get my friend to let me borrow his P90X DVDs, or get him to exercise to them with me (He's also a fatty, was making noticeable progress with the p90x, then fell into depression and gave up when his wife left him). I will admit to not being as consistent with exercise as I should be, and I don't push myself as hard as I could. But I do some physical activity at least 3x a week.

Hey anon, I do take care of my skin twice daily in the morning and in the night. I am a femanon, I don't wear makeup, for your information.
Here is my regimen :

Products used :

1st Step : Cleaning impurities
>Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Facial Wash
>Neutrogena Blackhead Eliminating Daily Scrub

2nd Step : Correcting tint/Matifying oily skin
>Neutrogena Pore and Shine daily scrub
>Neutrogena Correcting Tint scrub
> 1-2/week Neutrogena Visibly Clear 2 in 1 Wash and Mask (use it only as a mask)

All the above I do in the shower, then at the sink.

3rd Step is Creams and Lotions at my coiffeuse in my room, after I wake up and before bed.
>Neutrogena Blackhead Eliminating Toner
>Garnier Micellar Water
> Nivea Intense and Quick Hydration
> Nivea Matifying Day cream SPF 15 (only morning)
>Castor oil on eyelashes for growth
>Labello Hydrating Lipstick

supplements for skin, hair and nails I take:
>selenium
>zinc
>brewer's yeast (chromium)

I mostly use Neutrogena and Nivea products because I am a poor fag and there was a big sale at the store and because it's best quality/quantity/price I can afford.
When I am more wealthy I will buy more efficient, select products though.

I really wish I could have the budget to fucking spend like 300 bucks a months on clinical laboratory designed high end stuff like Clinique, Origins and the such. Then I'd really notice a big change. You can always do it like me anon, and just research lower end price/ medium quality products, then be on the lookout for beauty sales in your local markets, or better shop online for it.

are you seriously asking for a source on something this basic? vitamin A, D, E and K are called fat-soluble vitamins which means they don't dissolve in water which means that if you took a multivitamin on a water fast only vitamins B and C would be absorbed

>>
>>41926419
>>41926447
thanks for the responses, though I expected a more scientific explanation.
I did my research. So it is said you need the presence of dietary fat to absorb SOME of the vitamins binded with fat molecules. So not all is lost for the water fasters. Just gotta do the research to see which vitamins and how crucial they are.
An explanation for the nauseous feeling/stomach cramps is the presence of iron in some multivitamins which is known to cause those if taken while fasted.
It's also not advised to take them with hot beverages, and especially tea and coffee as the tannins in them counteract the absorption of vitamins.
Just sharing the info for other people.
>>
>>41926505
Okay thanks for clearing this up pal, as you can see by the post above I did do some research by my own after asking for info, but really, there's no need to be passive aggressive about giving advice. Sure you might consider something like this basic knowledge to you, but we're not all at the same level of research and understanding. So tone down a bit the backhanded help.

>>

>>

Weight lifting means at least the four big lifts. Squats, deadlift, overhead press and bench press.
>>
>>41926732
Only once every month if it fits into your allowance of calories.

anon, don't do it for her...do it for yourself. You should mind, you should care...Why?
Let's project ourselves in a couple years, you might be marrying that girl and happy in love, and soon you'll want children. Do you think you'll be able to conceive? And what life would you give to children as an obese parent?
Of course this is just extrapolation, but really consider the fact that health, motherfucking HEALTH, is more important, than feeling validated by someone, even though I know for a fat person the lowest amount of care and affection can seem like such a novelty that you'd be scared jeopardizing it. What I mean is, she'll love you just the way you are, better or worse, so why not better yourself ?
Don't give up, ask her to cook healthy meals or cook for yourself, and portion your meals, count calories, macros...yadda yadda yadda.

I lost a ton of weight doing keto (30lbs), now trying to lose the last 30lbs while putting on a bit of muscle

Just chiming in, I usually look for musclefu threads here, bodybuilding girls and weight lifting models pictures for inspiration (femanon here) on instagram. I'm going for the strong lean girl look as opposed to simply skinny because I simply can't be skinny as a petite, or else I look like a little girl, like an actual 10 year old body wise, so I thought packing on a good layer of muscles will help curve me up (pic related). I think it's the best option. I went the other way (unwillingly) and put on a good twenty pounds to see if I could into thicc but as a small girl I just got a bit of a belly and fat thighs. I guess I didn't have the genetics for it. I'm in the process of losing the last 12 pounds now.

As per men, I like thick, builtfat, strongfat and strongripped aesthetics.
I recently motivated my slightly overweight boyfriend to join the gym, and start meal planning. We talked about our goals, and his endgame is looking like a built professional Australian rugby player (which I could remember his name to show pic, he showed me one) so I am very excited for him too! He already pushes all the buttons, but he'll be even better when he's healthy and stronger!

the simple answer is they eat too much

why they eat too much varies from person to person
usually it's a method of dealing with trauma such as loss. The loss of a loved one, the loss of innocence, control, independence.

Dubs of truth. my number one reason for eating so much was trying to feel better, but I didn't realize it at the time. I just liked to eat a lot and drink a lot of sugary drinks. Everything tasted good. After a while, I realized how fat I was getting and just kept eating to reduce stress or because of bad time management. I just got lazier and lazier. I never got into drinking or smoking, so my vice was eating everything.

I've made a one minute improvement on my mile run in three weeks and I hate running. I'll never go back to being my heaviest.

I'm 5'6. 11 days ago I decided to stop being a potato and get /fit/ - I was 84kg. I joined a gym and go every other day and I've started eating between 1000 - 1200 calories a day, aiming for 1 gram of protein per lbs. Today I am 75.4kg and I feel fantastic. I seem to be shedding weight from all areas except my belly which is annoying me but I assume it'll come in time, I'm going to try for 65kg and see how I look then start building muscle.

Could be a possibility. All in all, if you want to establish a trend pattern to follow for weight loss, start now once you've lost the water weight, and then you'll get a real estimate of how your progress will be for a relatively long time, proportionally decreasing as you approach a leaner body weight.

I'd like some advice on how to season them. I like their texture and starchy feel, but somehow I can't get past the sweetness. I've tried adding some salt and paprika with chilli flakes but it still was a bit too sweet for my taste.
What do you use to season them?
Also how to you cook them?

Really nigger?
Your body uses calories as fuel and is constantly burning them.
X amount of calories put in will keep you in the exact same state as you are now.
If you take in less than x amount (your tdee) then your body will run out of the calorie fuel and start burning your existing body resources instead(i.e. fat) and thus you lose weight.

It is actually 8.8.
>>
>>41928771

No, the human body is incredibly good at what it does. Whatever you use will be burned and the rest will get turned in to fat for later use.

The reason people are fat is because their body keeps on trucking doing its job storing energy for later use and that never happens - i can't remember the exact stages but i know that new food energy is used first and if that runs out then its on to fat and if you run out of fat it'll start taking muscle too.
>>
>>41928733
Well this just told me that the calorie measurements on foods are pretty inaccurate and are estimations at best, and not even direct estimations at that.
>>
>>41928795
Nonsense, 1 pound of fat is 3500 calories.

You're telling me if I ate 8000 calories one day and burned 500 I would gain 2 pounds in one day? BS.

And so wait, the RDA of 2500 calories is what then, the amount of calories we burn in an average day?

somehow my mind is at ease, despite being so over my limit. i feel like i've been doing this for long enough that I know i will bounce back and eat healthy and under tdee immediately and for long enough that this binge is nothing. as in, i have enough data points that show that i've binged and bounced back enough times for me to not really worry about this setting me back an insane amount.
>>
>>41928824

You're making the mistake of assuming your body operates in intervals of one day. It's a constant ongoing process and the stomach can hold a surprising amount of food for a long time - it's not simply a case of eating it, getting it in your stomach and it immediately goes on. There are limits yes but its dependent on the type of nutrients involved, you can't simply assume that if you eat x amount you'll poop out y.
>>
>>41928733
This is so confusing.

In the US they say 2600 cal a day is good.
But in Australia, they say 2100 cal a day is average.
But then the UN says 1800 cal a day is the minimum.

Great, I will now have to spend the whole night reading all of this shit to make sense of it.

Yeah I get what you're tryna say anon.
I think we have weight goals as an approximate estimate of body fat percentage that is healthy, or normal, and I think most people here start first by focusing on reaching that before actually aspiring to put on the muscle they need through a bulk. What I mean is we exercise and cut, so weight is much more reliable than body goals at the moment, given most of us have somewhat muscular body goals and it's unrealistic to think during our cut we'll reach them.
But once you're low enough, and you start bulking, then it makes more sense to work towards a body goal. Just my two cents.

Post :
>body goal picture
>current weight
>estimated goal weight
>timeframe to reach it

Here's mine :
>55.3kg
>65kg
>5kg cut (current cut goal) + 20 kg bulk (about 15kg muscle and 5kg fat) but I will do a cycle of bulks (probably by 10kg increments so likely 8-10 months) then small cuts (2 months) to shed the fat gained, and repeat until I reach 65kg looking like this. Estimated timeline is 3.5 years.
>>
>>41928864

It's possible they're taking into consideration the typical nutritional value and societal norms as well. For example over 68.8% of americans are considered overweight where as in australia its something like 30% and america has that whole "ez cheese" kind of thing going on with food, service industry portions are larger etc. I don't really know so take that with a pinch of salt.
>>
>>41928856
If it's once or twice in a given week, nothing to worry about. I'm around 125lbs, but when I felt overconfident and ended up doing more than that, I went up to 135 in the span of 3-4 weeks. Went back down by being a lot more strict, but then again I make it a point to exercise or go to the gym at least 6 days of the week.

You get tired going up stairs because that exercise is pretty anaerobic and is only aerobic if you do it for long periods of time. Your muscles are basically doing the work without oxygen and you haven't trained your body at all to cope with that.

Activate your legs. How are you going uphill when you run? Do you do any inclines? Bodies are pussies and like to bitch about anything they aren't used to.

Pizza, cake, pastries, chocolate.
Was on the tail end of an lsd trip. Had spent close to 10 hours trying to work out how i could fit a chat into my calories, then i just decided that I would eat as much as i can and not count a thing.

Kinda regret it, but every experience has its own value. This one being to never do such a ridiculously high dose of acid again.

Most of it violently exited my system via the entrance way. Slept like a baby after that.
And the scale hasn't shifted much, so there might well be a god after all.
Unsurprisingly today was very good and I'm back on the wagon.

A high estimate for your deficit over those 11 days would be 17,000 calories, which would equal 2.2 kilos of fat loss, so you've definitely not lost 9 fucking kilos of fat. I'm not trying to shit on your progress, just don't want you to get discouraged when the results will inevitably start to slow down.
>>41928682
Weighing yourself daily isn't useless, you can avoid a single bad measurement skewing your weekly progress that way, plus I get relatively consistent results since I make sure to weigh myself after waking up and taking a piss.

Well after that long eating below your TDEE it's really not a big deal. I know one of these days I'll have a cheat day where I just eat whatever the fuck I want. But probably won't be for a while still. What's your current weight btw?

Right on man. If anything you've earned a cheat day. 6,000 calories sounds crazy to me now, even for one day, but honestly I would probably have that many calories 4 or 5 times a month back before I started cutting and never even realized it.
>>
>>41929175
To each his own. My preference is weekly weigh ins. I used to do the daily thing, but I've found it just stays steady for a while then does a big drop. As for one week being off, sure it happens, but the next week it gets corrected.

Yeah I have to stop during runs too even though I could easily do a 5k before, and I eat about ~1200 calories in one big meal every day, so a bit more than you. I don't know if it's because of the low calorie intake, or because I stopped running for a couple months before starting my weight loss, but I don't feel weak during the day otherwise, so I didn't increase my food intake, but switched to riding a bike and doing HIIT for the duration of my weight loss. I'll start working on running once I've lost the excess weight.

The secret is picking the right number of calories per day to diet and to save up calories for junk meals or find alternatives. For example I was hungry for a coconut cream pie and I found these mini ones that satisfied the craving.

I do 1800 calories a day. You thinking about 1000 a day then expect to binge.

Making it for me is in about 3.5 years. Hopefully by then, I want to marry my current boyfriend (we already talked about it, we'll be married when I finish my studies coincidentally in that same time period), and have our first child right after our wedding.
I don't fear losing my gains from pregnancy though, I will keep training and not fall for the "you'll hurt the baby" or worse the "you gotta eat for two persons now". I won't be doing it because I want to look good, but because I really think a fitter stronger expecting mother that is really physical will be beneficial to the unborn's development more than a couch potato mom who eats for two and does kegels once a week to "prepare". I'm not half assing it, I want my child to be in the fittest healthiest shape.
Just as an anecdote, the baby of fitness model in picture related has insane motor skills and is only a couple months old. Why? I suspect it's because the baby's been subjected to a lot of movement and stimulus in utero and extra utero.

>I still don't understand how calorie control makes you lose weight.
When you eat something, your body uses it for energy, and stores the excess as fat. You breathe in O2, some of which gets turned into CO2 and H2O inside your body, so you literally breathe out your excess weight one carbon atom at a time (well more like a fuckton of carbon atoms at a time, but whatever). This is why burning food and measuring how much heat it gave off is a good approximation of how much fatter it will make you, since you end up with the same chemicals at the end in both cases, your body just does it differently.
>If it was that simple, why doesn't everybody do it?
Losing weight is a really slow process, because you can't just take in 0 calories and do the equivalent of running a marathon every day. The average is like losing 1-2 lbs a week. Couple this with the inevitable hunger which they would have to suffer through daily for months, and it's easy to see why people would end up giving up. Really fat people tend to be obsessed with food, and they tend to ease the suffering caused by their excess weight by eating, so it's even harder for them to put down the fork. It's even harder for them than it is for other addicts, like alcoholics, since you can't just quit food cold turkey, as it is necessary to eat in order to stay alive.

Yeah, I'll probably eat at around 2800cal/day with high protein, moderate fat and moderate carbs. I might try and cut really hard before falling pregnant, then just take the pregnancy as a clean bulk. That way it'll make for optimum gains with minimum health complications.
I'll do the math on all this in a couple years though, don't know where I'll be body comp wise by then, so it's hard to say now.

I'll also keep weighing myself, to make sure that I'm not gaining or losing weight.

The liver is the only organ in the body that under normal circumstances will regenerate itself. I had a friend who consumed so much caffeine he destroyed his liver, down to what the doctors told him was 30% of its original capacity of function. He cut everything out and went cold turkey, within a couple months he was back up to 70%. I don't know what those percentages equate to, but the liver is fucking magical.

Not a meme, it actually works and is great for weight loss. The reason it gets so much stigma is because a big part of losing pounds is improving your lifestyle and food choices. All this shit is to teach discipline, build willpower, and curb addictions. If you don't then you just yo-yo effect yourself into a downward spiral of fasting, eating like a pig, then repeating ad-nauseam. Definitely do not recommend it for the people here but there's retards who think that they're invincible to cravings (even though this is one of the major reasons why they're fat in the first place) so they'll do it anyway.

Most people seem to want to fast for about a week, meaning they would still have to put in the effort to improve their habits on the weeks when they don't fast, so for the majority of their weight loss. I would definitely try fasting if I lived alone, but I don't, and my parents would think I am crazy.
