All of us on this thread are supposed to know losing weight when you're fat is simple thermodynamics; if you put in less than you burn, you will lose weight. It's literally a piece of cake (or two or three.) At the end of the day, this is a support general whose goal is to help and motivate the chubby channers who need to lose weight for any number of reasons. Another thing to keep in mind are that if you're an autistic spaghetti spiller when you're a fatty you'll still be one when you're in shape. This is only to improve your health and anything else is another issue.

I'd like to take this time to announce I haven't had beer in 7 days. I have been drinking 2-4 times a week for almost two years now.

I feel great, it might be the first full week sober I've had since 2015.

Here's a little somethin I tried that helped me. I tried to do the mono diet for a week (look it up if you don't know), I only made it three days (it's fuckin hard) but it taught me the difference between hungry and not actually hungry reall fuckin quick, and I've never forgotten it. Ever. To this day I still think about those three days anytime I'm about to eat something just because or due to a craving.

I ate potatoes for three straight days, working 12 hour shifts at a restaurant in the kitchen (fast pace all day) and I ate fucking no salt no butter no nothing boiled potatoes (with skin) for three days. Once I would rather wait until I absolutely had to put another one of those fucking potatoes in my god damn mouth, that's when I learned the difference between hunger and not hunger.

I recommend it trying it, really I do. It will make damn sure those hunger pangs are really real when your only option is to shove the 10th unseasoned boiled potato in your mouth that day, and you will never forget it.

Oats aren't very filling for me, so when I make oatmeal, I add wheat bran. Bran is amazing. It's like eating saw dust, but it's probably the most concentrated form of fiber you can find.

Veggies are obvious, but only the non-starchy ones. Root veggies in general (except potatoes), celery, mushrooms, broccoli, cucumbers.

Lean meats in general. I usually go for skinless chicken breasts since it's cheap. Pork with the fat cut away too. Beef is great if you can afford it. White fish should be good in theory, but I haven't tried it much.

I usually just use protein and fiber content to guide me. Not only do lean and high fiber foods tend to have lower calorie density, it also feels like they sit in my stomach longer and decreases my hunger threshold for the rest of the day.

It's something that can only be fully appreciated once you've done it yourself. But I'll tell you man it's a new world. Your body becomes easier to manage and manuever in ways you hadn't even thought of yet. If you're like me you're probably just thinking about how you'll look. If so you'll be amazed at the difference in how you feel, how you look and how you perceive yourself in the mirror is second. I started feeling like an actual functioning human again, when I didn't even realize I'd been feeling differently all this time

I actually got down to 239 in February but I've been off track for a few months now. Finally getting back on the rails and taking control of this train

I'm glad man. I can't say it enough times, how you feel will be so much better than how you look. All the way until the end I imagine. You'll look better and better but you'll feel incredible the entire way through

One of the simplest pleasures I've had while losing weight that I never considered is crouching, squatting, getting down on my knee etc. I never realized how much I avoided it at work before because of the discomfort and sometimes even pain. But now I'm fucking crouching and kneeling for everything man. It's so simple but it's so satisfying knowing that a time pretty recently I wasn't physically capable of doing it

I need some help. I'm on a pretty severe cut with weightlifting plus cardio. This week was really hard.

Anyway I didn't lose any weight at all, but obviously I gained muscle and I'm a little stronger.

I thought you couldn't really gain muscle on a cut?

I just think of it as a choice between making "this one exception" or reaching my goal body. It's obviously not entirely true, but it's a helpful frame of mind, since there's no room for negotiation. When you start to negotiate with your temptations, you're fucked. They're too persuasive, and your "rational" mind is too flexible. You just need to put your foot down, let it know its not getting its way, before you start making up excuses for why it wouldn't be that bad to listen to your temptation.

It's like getting a call from a telemarketer. You don't argue, you just hang up.

I'm at 20% BF, so not sure if it's entirely comparable, but it's more than enough to make me constantly aware of all the ways my extra fat shows itself to anyone around me. It affects how I walk, how I sit, how I move. Could call it more of a self-image than a body issue, but my biggest motivation with losing weight is to lose my insecurities. Id say if you've weight focused weight distribution like mostly in your gut or mostly in your upper thighs you'll see a huge difference. For me, my weight was distributed pretty evenly but I can still tell a difference. So yea, it looks bigger. Because I'm smaller and because there's less fat hiding it. If I see as much of a change from the last 60 lbs as I saw in the first 60, it'll be a huge difference from start to finish

i have big stocky shoulders and ribs so it takes a lot for me to actually look fat. ive always been kinda fat but never realized it because my body hides it well

big bones are a real thing but they dont make you look fat, if anything they hide a lot of the fat you have. they arent an excuse

i went up to 260 pounds in college which is when people finally started to say i was getting fat. i finally got big enough for people to notice since i dont exactly run around with my shirt off

so thats when i started losing weight. i started eating healthier and getting exercise and dropped down to 230 over a few months

then i graduated and had to move back home with mommy and i didnt really have control over what we ate so i went back up to 240

now i just recently moved out and can buy and cook for myself again

i'll probably have the weight off a little bit sooner than the listed date because i dont eat or eat very little on about half of the days that i dont exercise

i exercise about 3 times a week sometimes more sometimes less, usually walking or biking for a few miles

so thats about 2 days out of the week that i eat <800 calories (sometimes eat nothing) and the rest are 1800 or lower

i mostly eat fish chicken and eggs. high protein to help minimize muscle loss a bit but in the end i can always get muscle back so its no big deal anyway

Home made pesto (2 scoops, overshooting at 200kcal) salad (40 kcal of leafy greens tops, 100kcap of olives)

What worked well for me was cutting out calories in my drinks. Unsweetened teas/coffee if you need caffeine and no sodas. I never realized how many calories were coming from my drinks rather than my food.

Keep it up though. Laying off alcohol is a tough hurdle to clear and you've already done it.

Chopped up red cabbage, various beans (fava, black, black eyed peas usually), and a bit of Italian dressing.

You usually have to make it in bulk and store it in tupperware, but it's filling. Don't use too much dressing.

Is anyone else only eating one meal a day? I get to feel like I'm binge eating and I don't have to be tempted by the kitchen more than once a day. I make sure the meal is high fiber. My protein is possibly too low. Need more than 60 grams right? I'm asking regarding hair falling out from malnutrition. I know regarding bodybuilding it's too low. This is just a temporary diet so that I can be at a healthy bodyweight. My exercise routine is just chin ups and biking. I believell, is I weight these out right, I'm eating 1300-1400 calories.
